Ya this is the type of shit where I'd see it in a video game ( like Horizon) and would go "obviously this would work in a video game, cause physics don't exist there"
Very true , however there are people who have and will attempt this manuever while climbing. Doesnt make it smart or logical but ive seen it before andnfelt my hear drop into my stomach while watching it.
We often underestimate our bodies tbh. Obviously some random person, or even a random rock climber couldn't do this. But if someone trained to, I see it
Actually its done more often thst you would think. All free climbers are a certain level of insane. You can climb up this mountain with cables, hooks, hammers and a harness or you can....you know...just use your hands and feet? Thsts a choice andnone they male willingly. Sanity is optional to them lol.
This is bouldering though. There's crash pads underneath and it's like an 8 foot top out. This is set up specifically for this move because there's low consequence for failure.
Bouldering is where the real impressive skill feats are at. I'm guessing he probably wouldn't try this 1000ft high. They always do unfeasible looking shit on those boulders.
There are definitely routes where you will do moves like this hundreds of meters off the ground. Bouldering was developed as a way of practicing hard moves without having to climb all the way up to the hard moves on a route in Yosemite Valley CA. Eventually it became it's own thing, but originally it was quite literally created to require less approach to try hard moves. Meaning that for years all those really hard moves existed exclusively high off the deck.
Bouldering was the method to push grades harder so it makes sense harder things would be done on rope after it's popularization. There certainly are routes older than Bouldering (as a sport) with dynos. Although I'm sure there are many more as a result.
true
but this is a *highly* technical dyno - note how close his chin is to making contact. looks v8 at minimum, which falls roughly in the 5.13 range
bouldering starting coming into its own in the 50s and 60s. first 5.13 was in late 70s
just saying pre-bouldering moves *of this caliber* weren't happening anywhere
No worries, I was just refuting the initial guys comment about no one daring to do risky climbing moves high up on the wall. I'm no history expert, which is why I left things vague
here's an elite-level outward dyno to a comparatively tiny hold
[https://youtu.be/0SnOHj0J08E?si=bsmBPWdK7rnekXBv](https://youtu.be/0SnOHj0J08E?si=bsmBPWdK7rnekXBv)
I was there with climbers but not actually good at climbing. That place is nuts. Also, that guys hand is probably fucked, that sandstone is gritty as hell and cuts everyone up
Well it wouldn't have been the same climb. In bouldering you have different problems which are all graded using a system that represents how hard the climb is. Each climb has a grade and a name, a set of two or one defined starting holds that you start on and a defined line you should follow to get to the top.
The idea is not just to get to the top, but get to the top following a route someone has made and graded. It would be the same as saying mountain bike racers should just avoid the hard jumps and go outside the restricted course because it's easier.

This doesn’t even look impressive. First off he knows there is a huge grip on the edge of the rock. And it is a huge handful of a grip. What makes rock climbing hard is not having grip and having to use small depressions in rock. This is nothing.
Despite the video evidence I don't believe this is possible.
I feel like even if I saw this in person I would be like “nah that’s edited”
Ya this is the type of shit where I'd see it in a video game ( like Horizon) and would go "obviously this would work in a video game, cause physics don't exist there"
This is straight up uncharted ridiculousness

It’s clearly real, no doubt in my mind. But it has to be fake.
My main takeaway from this is that it would the dumbest and very likely last thing they tried if this was in the wild. It's still impressive though.

I thought this only exists in assassin’s creed
Cause it's reversed. (/sffs).
I think it’s more impressive that he could hold himself there after the lunge.
My shoulder hurts just watching this
My nipples got sanded off watching this
As a climber, I can confirm that sore nipples are a real thing.
With all those clamps, I can imagine...
Really paints a picture
My ankles got twisted after watching this.
According to stories, this is what my parents' way to school looked like.
...in the snow
both ways
Through the jungle
Bare footed
carrying a 150 pound backpack
on one leg

That’s what the 30 mats were for

hmm i don't think pre-bouldering moves of this caliber happened high off the deck would love to learn otherwise though

You're arguing a point I never made my man
either i misread it or you edited it. i'm guessing the former. apologies

that's like a 5.5 on all the multi pitches in my area. Good anchor test.
People have comps on small bouldering so they can build up to the larger ones by freehand
[удалено]
Although, like traverses, the impact when you swing back in on a rope on this move at height would hurt a lot more!
Jesus I’m fat and un flexible
That is a dyno as invented by the great Johnny Dawes
Craziest one ive ever seen. Ive never seen anyone dyno "out" like that before!

The mellow crew is wild. There's nothing there to hold onto. Kids doing it barefoot lol
Floor is lava
It's because of his underwear.
Calvin Klimbs
I knew it! lol
It was only a matter of time before men saw the potential too
How many nipples did he scratch off practicing?
I'm more curious as too how much dried head blood is on the top of that crevice
Does he know that he can jump off the floor and catch it? /s
Assassin's creed physics
Had to scroll way too far to find this comment.
Hardly a reach. You should see some of the analogies I make.
Analogies are like the king of metaphors
What difficulty is that boulder?
No idea but probably not too high. While the dyno looks impressive, it is to a huge ass jug and the rest of the climb looks very easy.
Bullshit. That dyno is gnarly. This is actually a v13 (8b) problem.
This.
8b, Overpowered in Rocklands (where else?)
I only ever bouldered in Hueco Tanks
Rocklands is world famous for insane dynos. Red rock and massive dyno = Rocklands
I was there with climbers but not actually good at climbing. That place is nuts. Also, that guys hand is probably fucked, that sandstone is gritty as hell and cuts everyone up
So, Link doing that in Breath of the Wild is actually realistic.
Is his right nipple still there?
Stop breaking physics please
That's awesome and possibly the most unnecessary thing ever...
Now let's see you do it on a cliff you do not know exactly where that hand hold is!
and probably tired to leap that length.
Seems like it would have been an easier grab from the ground, but wouldn’t have been as cool of a video I guess. 🤷♂️
Climbing boulder ain't about getting to the top. It is about getting to the top in the worst way possible.
I'd rather practice leaps like this close to the ground than 100m off the ground.
Also a very good point. I hadn’t thought of it that way.

Some sort of antigravity technology?
*mission impossible music begins playing in the background
Peter Parker is that you ?
I've got reach, she's got flexibility.
I always have the dream to do that but I'm fat 😂😂
Imagine faceplanting upwards?!?!?! How many times did faces slap that rock before success?
I’m gonna jump across this table like a spider monkey and whoop your ass.
Cool, greenscreen the background and make it look like he's high up in the mountains.
V2 in my gym
That guy has chicken legs. My stonking hobbit legs and feet, combined with my chicken wing arms, would never get up that cliff.
As accident prone as I am, I would 100% die even if my lanky body made the distance.
lets see that happening 1500ft up. same guy, same jump and everything just higher😏
the mats are there to handle the first 50 times the guy attempted this and failed
Yes, obviously?
55 year old me: isn’t there an escalator nearby?
Human spider monkey.
It was as if he had the arms of a monkey
This shit is just crazy to me. It looks near impossible to do that but he does.

his technique looks so crazy in slowmo
Where's Magnus!?
My backs hurts
I rock climb w more than my underwear but I might have to try this
He just started from the bottom. Of course he can do this.
he could clearly jump from the surface and reach that point without much effort. why so hype then.
I am so turned on right now.
Easy, I did that many times in uncharted.
Horizon
I think he plays too much Assassin's Creed
You know he's doing this shit @ 1,000 ft too!!
True Spider-Man.
When he springs off to begin with he's jumping vertically... Believe it or not gravity CAN be seen!
Humans are really weird.
The shoulder buster, the nipple grater and the head cracker, all in 1 move!!!

2 things 1st. Down voted because of music. 2nd up voted because of this god they call a rock climber
Wouldn't it have been easier to just jump from the ground under that spot?
I guess Ezio isn't as far fetched
Reversed
"Yo check this foo out! Daaaaamn, white man can juuuump ese!!"
I'd be more impressed if he did it on 400ft cliff
Need to lie in the ground and shoot up so you don’t see the ground. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)
Hey it's my song in a video !!!!! That's so exciting https://on.soundcloud.com/5X2n9rkLPzkfqdZFA

U could have just jumped from the ground to the edge of the rock🤦 what was the point 😂
boi did that kratos jump to the next spot climbing the wall!?
Just do it from the ground lolz
spiderman
Yo...
The editing of this video is more than annoying.
I just had to relocate my shoulder after watching this video. 😫
Crazy jump, I would smack my head on the cliff and flop over
no way ...

Now do over hot lava...
I mean he has too if his going to reach his gf butthole
