Just fyi. Women’s hip bones separate and the ligaments soften to prevent too much stress on the pelvic bones during preganancy and birth. Shit still hurts!
I still don't get how we evolved like this and marsupials did not turn into the dominant life form. Seems a lot less traumatic to just pop a Joey in a pouch for 8 months.
Big brain helped survival, painful childbirth wasn’t detrimental enough to comparably hinder survival. Evolution isn’t what’s the best design, just what’s repeatably good enough.
The fact that we’re bipedal has a lot to do with this too. As we became bipedal, it changed the shape of the pelvis as well, which necessitated other changes as the heads got bigger at the same time. This is one reason why human babies are so helpless compared to many other species, we’re all born premature.
Yeah like cartilage being necessary for pain free movement but no way to heal or regenerate once it’s lost. Like wtffff lol if we could just figure that one thing out so many people suffering with arthritis would be able to live pain free again
Nature is good at the basics, nature intended us to reach breeding age have kids, raise them for a short while then essentially die. If our bodies wear out at 30-40 it’s served it’s purpose. Anything extra is a bonus.
There’s no money in finding a cure, but if you can come come up with things to slow the deterioration and ease the pain as they slowly decline, you’ll make tons of money. Gee, I wonder which direction Corporate Medicine will choose…
The issue is that modern practice has women giving birth with legs spread and on their backs, which makes it easier for doctors to assist sure but also constricts the vagina and pelvis. Legs together positions, such as on all fours and pushing behind you (like every other mammal), or the more traditional birthing chair (looks like a toilet, baby plops down onto straw) make it significantly easier rather than taking hours by expanding and relaxing the vagina and pelvis
The US/North America is where the whole “giving birth in missionary” is the default. The rest of the world does it the other way around
EDIT: So, for some reason I can’t reply to the person who asked me where I learned that. I have friends who have had children Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, parts of Africa, france and Germany, and they all had their children basically leaning against a wall or in some other position then the one we are familiar with here.
Now, to my understanding, Asian cultures also practice lying flat in the back. I have a couple of friends who had kids born in Japan and China and it was like here.
I squatted all 3 of mine out, 1st was about 30 minutes, 2nd was less than five and 2 pushes, 3rd was about 7 minutes and 3 pushes. I tell every woman I know SQUATT!!!
Even worse when you produce too much of the hormone that causes this and then have to do physical therapy for the whole 3rd trimester because it feels like your pelvis is disintegrating within you.
My wife had a condition during pregnancy where the ligaments softened about 7 months too soon. She ended up in crutches so a lot of the pregnancy and after 5 years is still living with the pain. It's insane what women have to endure. But child birth is truly a miracle
Yeah, and your abs basically un zip at the mid line and re knit post partum. You gain an extra liter or so of blood. You have a blood barrier that keeps your baby safe even if you're ill.
Pretty cool stuff.
SHAKIRA, SHAKIRA. Fun fact, my bf had some strict uncles and aunts. He'd often hang with his cousins and this was one of the only songs he was allowed to play
She said the pain wasn’t nearly as bad as the sensations of pressure. She’s a badass and it’s not fun sitting around mostly as a bystander (though there are plenty of things you can do to help). That photo of her immediately holding our kid is my favorite, however.
I still can't get over how much the size of the crown of my daughters head looked too large, then the WHOLE FUCKING BABY came out after that. Combined with seeing my wife in so much obvious extreme pain even on drugs absolutely broke me. I was so shocked and relieved (plus sleep deprived) I broke down crying and couldn't even cut the umbilical cord lol...
I was a bit better prepared for baby number 2 but holy shit, you truly don't understand the "miracle" until you see that big-ass baby pop out of there!
20 minutes? Where's the fire? No need to hurry it along that much man. Take your time and enjoy the memes, YouTube backlog, unfinished audiobooks etc,.
Birth is fucking crazy. Like wym you just... make a new person? And then push them out of your body through your most sensitive area? I've also read that some people even break their pelvises and rip from v to a. 😭😭🔫 Body horror ngl
The issue is that humans screwed themselves to maximize the brain size. This causes the head of a baby to be just BARELY enough to pass through without killing the mother.
Damn. Too bad can't we just lay eggs or have babies that can walk an hour after they're born. We have a big baby that can't even walk for almost 2 years. So unfair.
And even then our babies are born underdeveloped. Babies really should be in they're a few more months, but then women's pelvis would need to be so big they couldn't walk.
Not even a few months, closer to two years, probably. Human babies are just about the most helpless newborns out of all animals. Other newborn mammals can walk almost immediately after they’re born, none of us could ever do that. We get the big brain, but the cost is that we’re born extremely prematurely and still with significant danger to the mother. It’s a wonder we’ve been able to survive
If the woman changes her mind, she can suck it back in. And save the birth for a later date. This is especially useful if the baby would be born in a really inconvenient day like August 9th.
Degree in forensic science, spent best part of an academic year on sexing skeletal remains.
If memory serves me well a fully intact pelvis is the best chance at sexing a skeleton from a single site and even then it's only somewhere around 60%~ accurate. (Don't quote me on specifics it's been a while)
This is a little misleading, there are four main pelvic shapes that develop: Android, anthropoid, gynecoid and platypelloid. Men are usually android which is likely what is being shown here, but women can be any of these shapes, only one of which is optimum for pregnancy, the gynecoid.
It feels even crazier in other animals. Seriously ,human babies are borderline underdeveloped when compared to newborns of other species. The first experience of every baby giraffe upon birth is falling down from 6 feet above the ground ,and if it doesn't get up soon after the second experience it'll have is getting kicked by its mother.
Neither works lol we weren’t designed or destined for anything
“Who knew that the people with the equipment to carry and birth children have the equipment to carry and birth children?! 🤯 “
Hi, I'm not a biologist, just a mathematican, but yes and no, it all depends, so bear with me. The only true way of knowing whether someone is male or female is with the xy or xx chromosome combination. That is if you ignore intersex people with xxy xyy yy and other chromosome combinations. The human skeleton varies wildly within what is called a binormal distribution, this is some people live in one peak while some live in the other (and some live in between and in the outskirts) this peaks are male and female. But based purely on the hip bones of a person you would miss-identify men and women a lot of the time, it is more common to have women with wider hips than men, sure, but not all the time otherwise there would be no c-sections, and not by much if anything by a couple inches, I'm a biological male and my hips are rather wide. Also developmentally speaking there are a lot of factors that determine body morphology, for example, hormones, nutrition, exercise while growing up, body trauma, genetics, illnesses and others, that make people how they look on the outside
Thank you. This is very true.
We try our best to represent the mechanics with skeleton pelvises and metal balls, but reality is far more maleable and dynamic.
Maybe one day we'll stop forcing women into a suppine position during birth. We can dream...
Sometimes the docs will cut the vagina down to the anus with no pain killers (to get the babies out faster). It sounds like jeans ripping. They will sometimes stitch the vagina back up badly afterwards and that will fuck with the woman for the rest of her life. Source: female relatives.
Treat your mothers well fellas. They went through hell for you.
Ahhh man. Maybe we should just shove a big ball in the pelvic hole at dig sites then. Not like it's a years long borderline impossible process to determine sex from skeletons like this.
Maybe I got a male pelvis by accident? My daughter got stuck, bumping into my pelvic bone and I couldn’t push her out. After I had a c-section, she literally came out with a mark on her forehead where she had bumped it repeatedly.
Just fyi. Women’s hip bones separate and the ligaments soften to prevent too much stress on the pelvic bones during preganancy and birth. Shit still hurts!
Hormone called relaxin
Best when used in the highest possible dose, and after refrigeration. Chillin out, maxin, relaxin all cool.
Does it help to shoot B ball outside of the school afterwords? Regardless if mom is scared or not?
She's scared due to a couple of guys who were up to no good in the neighborhood
Would it be bad to get in one little fight and scare her?
Well she’ll make you move in with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air. So it depends how you feel about moving to that area!
The mother's pelvic bones separate and the baby's head folds in on itself! Nature is wild
I still don't get how we evolved like this and marsupials did not turn into the dominant life form. Seems a lot less traumatic to just pop a Joey in a pouch for 8 months.

Evolution is your 1999 Honda Civic, still kicking after all these years, held together entirely by duct tape and dreams.
Have you SEEN inside those pouches? But then again us ladies can do this so I see what you mean
It does seem like Marsupials saw the rest of natures handling of pregnancy and just went “There’s gotta be a better way.”
Well tbh, throwing your kid when the going gets tough to save your self isn't the greatest way to ensure your species continues on.
crazy the body just DOES that
Birth is the biggest proof that there's nothing intelligent when it comes to how we're designed
Yeah like cartilage being necessary for pain free movement but no way to heal or regenerate once it’s lost. Like wtffff lol if we could just figure that one thing out so many people suffering with arthritis would be able to live pain free again

Even before the invention of modern medicine 1/5 women died giving birth. We're simply badly designed to give birth.
The US/North America is where the whole “giving birth in missionary” is the default. Nature designed us, and she was wacked out on cocaine and meth and a 2 liter of fireball at the time.
That and teeth. Titanium would have been a better choice.
Seriously, like the whole body changes throughout the 9 months. Nobody can just push a baby out cold turkey. Gotta prep
I swear my hips never went back to their pre kid condition and shape. Also my butt bone now hurts when I sit for longer than 20 mins, 😢
Plenty of women still have their tailbone broken during birth
Username kinda checks out. ✅
I don't know how an entire baby coming out of a vagina couldn't hurt like hell without drugs and heavy sedation. Women are strong AF💪
Even worse when you produce too much of the hormone that causes this and then have to do physical therapy for the whole 3rd trimester because it feels like your pelvis is disintegrating within you.

That ain’t nothing compared to seeing that in real time….
Well the hips don't lie after all
Immmm on tonite
SHAKIRA, SHAKIRA. Fun fact, my bf had some strict uncles and aunts. He'd often hang with his cousins and this was one of the only songs he was allowed to play
Wife compared the experience to repeatedly dropping a bowling ball on her pelvis…
Just imagining it is already terrifying
She said the pain wasn’t nearly as bad as the sensations of pressure. She’s a badass and it’s not fun sitting around mostly as a bystander (though there are plenty of things you can do to help). That photo of her immediately holding our kid is my favorite, however.
I thought I was ready when my first was born. I wasn’t lol.
Wait, hopefully not the comparison
If you were squeezing a baby out a guy, the pelvis would be the least of your worries
It’s about to be interesting
Watching your kids being born is quite the experience. It looks like no human was meant to be in such agony.
It's life changing for sure. And those who have experienced it know exactly what I'm talking about.
Seeing your kids head get absolutely squished is a sight for sure. Seeing your partner in that much pain is a whole other.
No, the real sight is after all of that, and she says "We should have another!". Mothers are the ultimate mad lads.
I hate even thinking about it. Fuck this shit, I'm gay now.
I still can't get over how much the size of the crown of my daughters head looked too large, then the WHOLE FUCKING BABY came out after that. Combined with seeing my wife in so much obvious extreme pain even on drugs absolutely broke me. It's the price we pay for being born with relatively huge brains.
You think my brain is relatively huge? :D
Compared to your dick size, yes
🗿
It fits a sense of humor, sir, I would say you should be proud with your brain size :)
Seriously childbirth is traumatic on both the mother and child. I've never seen someone look so pissed off as a fresh newborn
Is this why women can poop so fast and men take like 20 minutes?
I can’t technically speak for other men but most of that time we’re just on our phone (source: me right now)
My fastest shits are when my phone is dead. Thus, my bowel health is inversely proportional to my phone status.
Yeah, I’m the same. And even if I don’t, I’ll just space out
Where else do you think I read my 900 page biographies??
Take your time gentlemen, you earned it!
20 minutes? Slow down. It's not a race!
20 minutes? Where's the fire? No need to hurry it along that much man. Take your time and enjoy the memes, YouTube backlog, unfinished audiobooks etc,.
Finally someone gets it
Finally have the scientific evidence for my wife to understand.
Try 60. Where else am I going to use YouTube Shorts?
Bro. Interesting. Hahah
Yall aren’t eating enough fiber
I'm attracted to humans with a big opening pelvis
Birth is fucking crazy. Like wym you just... make a new person? And then push them out of your body through your most sensitive area? I've also read that some people even break their pelvises and rip from v to a. 😭😭🔫 Body horror ngl
Child birth is traumatic. There's a reason why so many women died giving birth to children in the past
I want these in my health classroom
So do you say ,it is not a good idea to give a birth as a man?

*"This is the reason we invented basketball!"*
Why?
You new to the internet?
'cos saying male and female bodies are different is verboten.
oh come on. we can handle this....can't we?
Maybe something like… “This video is transphobic” Or something, I dunno.
With how smooth it goes through its bullshit that it's as dangerous and painful as it is
All that flesh gets in the way.
Damn flesh
We need to get rid of flesh! Who is with me?!
* Insert gif of dancing skeleton since this sub doesn't allow gifs in comments *
*Spooky, scary skeletons…*
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me…
I craved the strength and certainty of steel.
The flesh is that part of vagina usually making sex pleasant. Not sure about bones though.
So unfair.
We could go the pouch route
Who do we talk with to implement this?
I'd say God for religious folks Or Darwin for non Maybe aliens? Whatever suits your fancy
And even then our babies are born underdeveloped. Babies really should be in they're a few more months, but then women's pelvis would need to be so big they couldn't walk.
Not even a few months, closer to two years, probably. Human babies are just about the most helpless newborns out of all animals. Doesn't help our spine is a special kind of effed up
If humans are so smart, why do we squeeze our babies through our pelvises in the first place?
Probably the alien modifications fault 👽
Well this video doesn't even consider tissues and muscles, so the pain I guess would be even higher.
After 2 pregnancies and births, I’d be 100% excited for an artificial womb option. Being pregnant wasn’t my cup of tea and giving birth is something…
Interesting, but not surprising. Who ever thought men and women were the same regarding pelvis's?
I’m not a doctor but I’m surprised the way the baby’s head bounces back inside. I don’t think it supposed to do that
Yeah I think we are supposed to come out at 6th month, I guess this is why it takes 9.
If the woman changes her mind, she can suck it back in. And save the birth for a later date. This is especially useful if the baby would be born in a really inconvenient day like August 9th.
Nobody? There's just so much variance that it's hard to tell a deceased person's sex from that alone. Any archeologist would tell you that.
Downvoted for telling the truth. There's a reason maternal mortality rates used to be so high
Well it wasn't just that, but yes.
Degree in forensic science, spent best part of an academic year on sexing skeletal remains. If memory serves me well a fully intact pelvis is the best chance at sexing a skeleton from a single site and even then it's only somewhere around 60%~ accurate. (Don't quote me on specifics it's been a while)
A good part of the United States, unfortunately
Yeah, everyone knows that this is why c-sections were invented. How else would men give birth?
Whoever thought this one singular woman’s pelvis was the same as that one singular man’s pelvis lmao. Fuggin buncha dumbasses in here. N=1
Female pelvis is more satisfying
That’s some child bearing hips!
> She has the most fertile birthing hips I've ever set eyes upon. -- Barnabas Collins
Gives a totally different meaning to going "balls deep" with a girl.
I wish I could give you hug.
That's clearly not what he was after.
My gf is due September 9th and she wants too do it natural. This looks so so painful I’m so nervous
So men can’t have babies. Got it.
Just sort by controversial
So what you’re saying is the only thing keeping men from getting pregnant is physics
Not getting pregnant but being able to give birth
Yes. The thing preventing them from getting pregnant is that they’re men
big if true
You need Danny DeVito as your scientist partner
Well, mostly biology
This is a little misleading, there are four main pelvic shapes that develop: Android, anthropoid, gynecoid and platypelloid. Men are usually android which is likely what is being shown here, but women can be any of these shapes, only one of which is optimum for pregnancy, the gynecoid.
That makes a lot of sense!
Thanks, I hate a baby's skull in my pelvis
In before admins lock comments and delete this post.
BRO WTF??? Men are TRASH at giving birth smh my head!!!
Hold on, so science can tell the difference?
Men and women are different!
8th grade biology is damn interesting
wait till you learn about university-level forensic analysis
Wow, it’s almost like men and women are biologically different.
HOT DOGS ARE DOGS
It feels even crazier in other animals. Seriously ,human babies are borderline underdeveloped when compared to newborns of other species. The first experience of every baby giraffe upon birth is falling down from 6 feet above the ground ,and if it doesn't get up soon after the second experience it'll have is getting kicked by its mother.
And sometimes the pelvis breaks during birth anyway!
Hips don't lie
Reddit doesn’t like biological facts
Male pelvis here and yeah I can’t do that…
Who knew that the people destined to have babies have different bodies lol. Edit: supposed to say designed but I suppose destined also works lol.
Destined??
Neither works lol we weren’t designed or destined for anything “Who knew that the people with the equipment to carry and birth children have the equipment to carry and birth children?! 🤯 “
Dangerops prangent sex? will it hurt baby top of his head?
Right hips don’t meet ICC guard rail code
Oh. My. God.
Is this why women seem to be so much more flexible than men?
All of my breach babies around the world!!! Each and every one of you wore your mother as a hat in the start of life.
Soooo..... guys, don't go trying to cram a baby's head into your pelvis?
Ngl that kinda looks horrifying
take notes!!
A biological difference! Say it isn’t so.
There's a reason why the phrase "child rearing hips" exists.
I thought the phrase was “child bearing hips”. Rearing means raising to adulthood.
So science is telling me that biologically birthed males can’t carry and give birth to children.. time to email the aclu
Is anatomy transphobic? 🤬🤬🤬🤬
So there is tangible proof of whether you're a male or female huh?
I hate 2024. I legitimately thought, difference between male and female? they're gonna get cancelled for this.
A LOT of people don't know the difference between sex and gender.
Science is super transphobic
The say men can have babies.. biology
Oh boy, this is risky on Reddit. HoW dArE yUO saY MeN cANt gEt pREgnAnt!!!
Wait a minute... Do you mean to tell me there are differences between male and female bodies? That's crazy
It’s just a social construct!
How dare you show that. Men and women are the same. You cannot change my delusional mind. I live in America.
The price we pay for our big brains….. Now if only they were big enough for us to come up with a fancy painless workaround.
*Hateful comment about trans people that don't totally occupy 100% of my brain 100% of the time*
Unlike a metal ball, fetal heads mold to navigate the pelvis.
Thank you. This is very true. We try our best to represent the mechanics with skeleton pelvises and metal balls, but reality is far more maleable and dynamic. Maybe one day we'll stop forcing women into a suppine position during birth. We can dream...
what is a woman?
Shhh someone's going to get triggered.
New doping test for olympics just dropped
Science scares some people u gotta take this down bro
It’s because gals take much bigger poops. You’re welcome.
I was here before the post got locked.
They need this in school 6-12
Hmmm, didn't I hear somewhere that you couldn't assume male or female based on bone structure? 🤔
So men and women are different?
Did the ball just assume my gender!?
mEn cAn hAvE bAbIeS
What about the other 94 personalities?
You made whole U.S cry now.
There’s only two genders?
Tldr; penis
this is where the phrase “wide birthing hips”come from (not true)
You should see my ass. I can fit two of those balls in me
Sometimes the docs will cut the vagina down to the anus with no pain killers (to get the babies out faster). It sounds like jeans ripping. They will sometimes stitch the vagina back up badly afterwards and that will fuck with the woman for the rest of her life. Source: female relatives. Treat your mothers well fellas. Well shit there goes my hopes
I don't know man I've taken some pretty big shits before
What about all the other genders? 😂
Ahhh man. Maybe we should just shove a big ball in the pelvic hole at dig sites then. Not like it's a years long borderline impossible process to determine sex from skeletons like this.
I always wonder if giving birth was similar to me passing a kidney stone.
Maybe I got a male pelvis by accident? My daughter got stuck, bumping into my pelvic bone and I couldn’t push her out. After I had a c-section, she literally came out with a mark on her forehead where she had bumped it repeatedly.
