What a bizarre way to show a ranked list. What is the purpose of having the dots?
It is also counterintuitive bc it doesn't utilize the actual numbered average score. Instead, it takes the score and turns that into a ranking 1-45 with 1 being the best and 45 being the worst.
This is the methodology used:
"To do this, we asked respondents to rate each president on a scale of 0-100 for their overall greatness, with 0=failure, 50=average, and 100=great. We then averaged the ratings for each president and ranked them from highest average to lowest."
I'm shocked that Biden is ranked higher than Grant who had to overcome Andrew Johnson's bumbling of the reunification of America after the civil war. Grant pushed forward with the direction and resolves that Abraham Lincoln wanted. Don't punish the south and push cooperation and integration of African americans into the rest of America. He did a great job his first term and okish his second, but really worked hard to help heal America and grant freedoms to African Americans and punish the KKK. I don't think Biden has done anywhere close to that.... Not saying Biden is terrible, but better than Grant? Uhhhh no.

When Adams wasn’t on the list I figured it out but it took far longer than I’d like to admit it. Also couldn’t figure out why GW Bush was in the top 5.
I feel bad for all the guys who did worse than the giy who died in 30 days. You must've been bad to not do something more significant in 4 years than Harrison in 30 days.
It appears that it is the ranking from 1-45 where 1 is best and 45 is the worst. It is perhaps the most moronic way I've ever seen to represent a ranked list.
This ranking is absolutely hilarious. “Historians”
That means absolutely nothing to me and that ranking is an absolute JOKE. The idea that GW isn’t the number one after everything he did to help form our country is fucking LAUGHABLE.
I LOVE Lincoln, he helped free the slaves.
But George Washington lived in literal hell for years to win our right to even exist.
My worthless opinion
Carter is an engineer. And like most engineers I suspect there is a low tolerance for bullshit and while that can work locally or even regionally given the right culture match, it fails in the bullshit capital of the world.
Here's the source of the rankings [https://uh.edu/news-events/stories/2024/february/02152024-presidential-greatness-survey.php](https://uh.edu/news-events/stories/2024/february/02152024-presidential-greatness-survey.php)
I’d argue that Lincoln was the worst president! While Abraham Lincoln is often hailed as one of America's greatest presidents, there are arguments that his presidency had significant negative impacts. Under his leadership, the nation experienced its most severe division, culminating in the Civil War, which resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths and immense suffering. The war caused massive economic upheaval, particularly in the South, where cities and infrastructure were devastated. Lincoln's administration also took controversial measures that impinged on civil liberties, such as suspending habeas corpus. Additionally, the war strained international relations and disrupted global trade. Despite his achievements, these aspects highlight the severe costs and consequences of his presidency. As president he left much to be desired.
What other president led to us killing each other by the hundreds of thousands? Suspended our rights and devastated the economy. Look at it objectively. Not emotionally.
None but there has been wars with significant loss of American lives over the years since Lincoln was President and most of them fought over lesser reasons than the abolition of slavery
I know! Not negating that! If you worked in a warehouse and built the best, most perfect box ever but did nothing else would you be a good warehouse worker?

It took your comment for me to realize this this a graph of a numbered list with no actual data. How bizarre indeed.
Also Bush 2? why not just use their full names and a number for how they ranked.
I think the graph is supposed to be a normalized to 1 with Lincoln being at the top of the rankings
That's exactly what I said. It's just an incredibly stupid way to make a graph
It would be more interesting if there were red and blue spots for Republican and Democrat presidents.
That would be irrelevant because the two parties switched platforms.
It would make much more sense to include the raw score for each president as the x axis rather than turning it into a ranking and graphing that
How do you fact check opinions?
-- Do you really think that A -> B? -- Yes, I do. -- Checked!
Snopes: Our findings indicate that this is in fact an opinion.
What criteria were used?
You assume criteria were used. I'm guessing there wasn't.
lol. My mistake. You're probably right.
What exactly was "fact checked by Snopes" here?

Biden had to overcome the worst ranked president on this list. It makes sense
What’s with the horrific abbreviations?
You mean you don’t know who JA is?!
When Adams wasn’t on the list I figured it out but it took far longer than I’d like to admit it. Also couldn’t figure out why GW Bush was in the top 5.

Can some informative soul explain?
Highest name is viewed as "greatest" President. Lowest as least great. I think. It should be much easier to read
What is the X axis supposed to represent?
It appears that it is the ranking from 1-45 where 1 is best and 45 is the worst. It is perhaps the most moronic way I've ever seen to represent a ranked list.
The position in the ranking: 1 means 1st place, 2 is 2nd etc.
ranking for what. Diapers worn?
What were the parameters?
Why would you even use a graph for a rankings list, that alone makes me question the usefulness or validity of the “data”
I left r/dataisbeautiful because of stupid stuff like this… now I have to see it other places too?!?
MAGA being like, "he's top, with a bigly score..."
Fuck, can you imagine what the USA might be like by this time next year?
I can. It's absolutely terrifying.
What are you imagining the us will look like?
A huge radioactive fireball, most likely.

Bros still mad about that when he’s a convicted felon now lmao
Yeah, he's a fucking fascist and a convicted rapist. No one gives a shit.
Snopes is a self proclaimed authority, why do people not acknowledge this?
Reagan is pretty high up for being the reason millions of people are living in poverty.
154 hand selected scholars lmao. This is so inaccurate as a whole
Clinton? Clinton! Clinton?
Lmao. TDS scholars!

Propaganda.
How is this propaganda? It’s just some peoples opinions?
Opinion presented as fact, disguised by a graph.
“Presidential Greatness Project Rankings” is not presented as a fact.
"Fact checked by Snopes" Wonder why you left that part off
Because it's being presented as fact.
“Ranking presidents, by 154 scholars”? How is it fact?
You conveniently left out "fact checked by snopes."
Why the hell is Carter in the middle? For fuck’s sake.
My worthless opinion Carter is an engineer. And like most engineers I suspect there is a low tolerance for bullshit and while that can work locally or even regionally given the right culture match, it fails in the bullshit capital of the world.
Sigh. Yeah. But I really loved that dude.
You and me both
Jackson that low lmfao
And yet, here we are, facing the possibility of the worst president in a American history, getting a second chance at the job.
I hear what you are saying but Biden is unelectable as he is too old. Plain and simple.
The most interesting thing about this list is how uninteresting it is
Look where Biden is. Is this The Onion?

University of houston along the bottom of page
Written at the bottom of the chart.
Oh. Well, if Snopes says so, it *must be* right.
Total nonsense. Whomever ranked these presidents didn't graduate from high school or never took a history course. It's a fake list.
[удалено]
Yep that was kinda lazy
I happily voted for Obama twice. He’s way too high. So is W.
The last time I checked, we had much more IT jobs in 2019 than we have in 2024. I don't know what snopes is smoking

ChatGPT comment.
You reckon out of all the names in this list of 50, Lincoln was the worst? Seriously?
What other president led to us killing each other by the hundreds of thousands? Suspended our rights and devastated the economy. Look at it objectively. Not emotionally.
None but there has been wars with significant loss of American lives over the years since Lincoln was President and most of them fought over lesser reasons than the abolition of slavery
I’m not saying the reason wasn’t good, I’m saying that as a president he didn’t do a very good job by any presidential standards.
He abolished slavery FFS
I know! Not negating that! If you worked in a warehouse and built the best, most perfect box ever but did nothing else would you be a good warehouse worker?
Yeah sure
