Sure they're " just threats" but he IS mentally unstable. So these absolutely have to be taken seriously. His mental health is definitely not improving and will continue to diminish without meds and treatment so who knows what he could do. Hopefully he will be put on a unit that he has to take meds!! The real scary part is when he does get out what he will do !!!

There’s no way he serves more than a year. He has no history of actually physically harming somebody and there’s no way he’s smart enough to configure a real bomb. My guess is 3-6 months jail time (just to let him get a taste, and get him used to a daily schedule) and then another 2-3 months under psychiatric evaluation

There are convicted murderers serving less time than that. He’ll probably spend a year or two in a facility to undergo psychiatric treatment, & then likely released.
