Imagine if that's actually what the knight is doing, everybody thinking he's trynna destroy the world or smth but he just creates the fountains because he find it fun.
While I do disagree with the ralsei=bad theory, I believe the legend itself is a lie and ralsei doesn't know. Think about it, why exactly would you WANT to banish "the angels heaven"
"Heaven " might be a misleading name in this case, we might have a situation where the angel everyone is worshipping isn't actually a benevolent figure
We know NOTHING about Ralsei other than him looking identical to Asriel
And last time a character looked harmless and had some sort of connection t Asriel, that was Flowey
Just saying, I ain't getting burned twice
I actually have a theory that if Kris is the knight then they could just be creating the dark worlds for friends and in snowgrave the SOUL just decides to ruin it
"gosh-darn, i have no friends, oh well imma rip open gateways to quantum realms and drag my classmates into them to force them to have to work with me to get back to the real world and then eventually become friends with me so I won't be a lonely fucker anymore"
Yeah the word means "unwilling" but usually in a snobby or judgemental way.
EDIT: holy hell why all the upvotes? Did I accidentally reference something?
I mean, Queen only says that she based her plan on the Knight's actions, and there is no mention in ch 2 about her ever meeting the Knight, that we can safely ignore the word choice her. It's probably just what Queen thinks the Knight did it for, as she is just making assumptions here. Or she justed likes uses dramatic sounding words. It doesn't really tell us anything about the Knight themself in all liklyhood.
> Like *condescend*, this word [*deign*] was often used in the past with a positive, earnest valence in referring to exalted personages such as God or monarchs. Today it is most often used sarcastically, frequently in the negative, to connote an unjustified air of superiority.
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/deign#Usage_notes
I think it's the older sense that's more relevant here; Queen is using the word to convey belief that the Knight, like a god, is so great and powerful that it was an act of grace for it to take the time to create the cyber world.
I think I heard it used before where it seemed to mean: to officially decide that it should be so. Like, that the Knight blessed the day as the one proper for them to make this fountain.
It’s just a common word to use when referring to acts of deity or those of high position, and is more a reflection of Queens nigh-worship of the Knight than of any characteristic of the Knight themselves.
even if the definition of "deign" that you use here is the intended one (really don't think it is based on the context and how uncommon that particular usage of it is), why would the queen know that much about the knight? why would that line be the only hint that she knows anything about the knight? it's a little incongruous.
Because the Darkners worship the Knight and so obviously look at the creation of their fountain as a graceful gift from a higher power. This doesn't need explanation.
Huh? The player isn't an in universe character, it's us. The game can't decide things about our own past behavior. I don't understand this?
Maybe you're just making a joke though?
Nope, because think about it: The PLAYER is the one literally opening the dark fountains simply by playing the game, but they may also be reluctant to do so, therefore "deigning to create this world" as Queen puts it. As for being a character in the game, we ABSOLUTELY are since our soul is a character separate from Kris, and we play as our soul.
Who the fuck is "they"? *You* are the player! At what point did you press a button to open dark fountains? *What are you talking about!?*
I'm not talking about the player being acknowledged by the game, that's a different point entirely. You're talking about The Player like it's some separate entity from us, the actual real life people playing the game. If at any point the game suggested that I, the player, did stuff in the story that I never actually did either consciously or by accident, that would just be really stupid and immersion breaking. There's no smart way to spin it, it's just a bad idea.
Like it sounds like you're suggesting the player is the knight. I'll give you points that that's a novel idea, but it will never work.
Considering she video taped the fountain's creation and Noelle was found pretty quickly by Queen, I think Queen would know if Noelle was the Knight that made the cyberworld fountain, and would have said so. Besides, the Swatchling's dialogue called the Knight as currently more powerful than Queen and don't imply that Queen had captured the Knight like she did with Noelle at that point in the game. The Knight in this context was the person that opened the fountain. None of the darkners know about the Narrator.
I think it means that Queen thinks the Knight, who she basically worships (like King), made this cool world in the library for everyone to enjoy
Imagine if that's actually what the knight is doing, everybody thinking he's trynna destroy the world or smth but he just creates the fountains because he find it fun.
The **Roaring** Knight
The knight could be noisy
Imagine if there was a cataclysm called "The Roaring" though.
It's named after them maybe
Maybe the Knight has been sent by the Angel or someone else to prevent the Roaring
Ah, yes, the Knight will prevent the Roaring by doing exactly what causes the Roaring
ok nvm ignore my theory is bullshit
Hey hey hey Crazy idea Ralsei might be fucking lying He only provides information when he has to He might actually just be the bad guy
While I do disagree with the ralsei=bad theory, I believe the legend itself is a lie and ralsei doesn't know. Think about it, why exactly would you WANT to banish "the angels heaven"

I don’t like the ralsei bad theory, I just don’t see the motivation for it
We know NOTHING about Ralsei other than him looking identical to Asriel And last time a character looked harmless and had some sort of connection t Asriel, that was Flowey Just saying, I ain't getting burned twice
DUDE I'M THINKING THE SAME THING
That's what the heroes are doing. Not the Knight. The Knight is doing exactly what causes the Roaring.
CATACLYSM? LIKE THE GEOMETRY DASH LEVEL?
What if the roaring was named AFTER the knight?
it could be the opposite as well
They shout a lot. It's Papyrus. This makes sense.
Yeah. Papyrus is also no friends no bitches no fucking friends and no father figure (gaster?!) and no friends so would make sense
No roaring in the library
Wdym?
Libraries are quiet so the knight can’t be roaring
Otherwise he’d be politely but firmly told to leave
I actually have a theory that if Kris is the knight then they could just be creating the dark worlds for friends and in snowgrave the SOUL just decides to ruin it
Seems possible
"gosh-darn, i have no friends, oh well imma rip open gateways to quantum realms and drag my classmates into them to force them to have to work with me to get back to the real world and then eventually become friends with me so I won't be a lonely fucker anymore"

So the dark knight is an arrogant bastard… BEEEERDLYYYYYYY
Weird route is actually the secret ending. No more knight so no more dark worlds The ending is just gas or something idk
Weird route is killing Knight (Berghly) and making Kris new Knight. Then ror
Then ror
Kris becoming the knight in weird route would be neat thought
I KNEW IT
“Ugh, fine. I *guess* I’ll make an entire fucking alternate dimension.”
Jerry is the knight confirmed

I’m stupid when I was reading the dialogue I thought she said “destined”
Don't worry I thought she said "designed" at first lol

I forgot deigned was a word so I was starting at this for a good couple minutes wondering if Toby or someone misspelled designed
I've also always wondered why queen uses a different voice sound in this monologue
I thought it was a typo
The dark world could’ve just been a side effect, and they just wanted to cause calamity
I thought that was a typo and she meant designed lol
it's cool to see this getting attention! i picked up on this line a few weeks ago and wondered how i hadn't seen anybody ever mention it before
Maybe Kris or us (the player) is the knight!
Look whos back
Yep! :D
It's the queen's way of hyping up the knight's raw power and how far above everyone else it is
Almost like the player doing their 1938472837582848th Genocide Route

Fair enough, I guess we'll have to wait and see when future chapters blow our minds as Toby always does!
I just don't get being so irate over something so trivial tbh, that's why I'm not arguing the point anymore.
MORE SUPPORT FOR NARRATOR KNIGHT NOELLE WAS FORCED TO CREATE THE FOUNTAIN JUST LIKE IN SNOWGRAVE
