mecaxs

We kinda sorta abandoned them during arrivals as we were evacuating everyone on titan, mars, mercury and io and afterwards they got completely ransacked. So Ada-1 turned to fashion

BlazingFury009

Perfect answer lol

Mokou

They're clearly mobile. I don't understand why we didn't just...pick 'em up and bring them to the city. Two of them were already on earth even!

severed13

Have you fucking seen the U-Haul costs these days?

gforcebreak

And I don't trust spider's "discount services,"

mecaxs

Honestly I’m surprised they lasted so long when fallen can destroy them overnight apparently

Mokou

Well, Siviks originally wanted to keep them to arm his little terrorist cell. Presumably they were *also* looking after them, and it was only when we upset the balance of power by wiping them out that the Vex/Cabal were able to destroy them.

DJ__PJ

Maybe they aren't Transmat compatible, and I don't know if the Last City still possesses ships large enough to carry them

Mokou

> I don't know if the Last City still possesses ships large enough to carry them They'd have to be pretty dense to weigh more than a Drake.

Agueybana

Now THAT could have been a fun finale for Arrivals. Evacuating the forges, having transmat beacons to protect until the whole thing could be carted off.

FirstCurseFil

I made this comment at least two years ago. I keep it saved just in case I can bring it up again Ada-1: *[Emotionally broken that the BA weapons couldn't help stop the Darkness]* Guardians: Oh no! Anyways, we loved your weapons. We miss them. Could you make more? Ada-1: No I'm helping you play dress-up now.

Astro4545

We simply forgot about them ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ

FerralFraggle

The Vanguard forgor

furno30

is this canon? ive been so confused as to why ada is the transmog vendor and not you know, the crafting vendor

mecaxs

Yes. During season of the splicer you had a transmog tutorial where you’d have to visit Europa and steal some tech so she could do transmog. After grieving over the forges she moved onto fashion. Swapping out weapons and death for clothing and joy. The reason she’s not the crafting vendor is because crafting is tied to deepsight and the crafting table the witness left on mars. The guardian does it by themselves and she was already doing transmog

Eain

Actually yes. We couldn't defend them and also put enough people on evac duty. They thus got scrapped for parts.

team-ghost9503

Even though we have the blue prints

HazardousSkald

Back when Season of Arrivals ended and Beyond Light occurred, do you call recall the event where the Traveler “roared” and healed itself while the pyramids “took” our planets. Narratively, there was a mass extraction of our outstanding guardians in the field to rally around the city amidst the calamity and to gather a response.  In that time, as guardians left their post to retreat to the City, the Black Armor forges were narratively overrun and dismantled by fallen raiders. It was explored as a plot beat in Season of the Splicer when Ada became the Transmog vendor. She was feeling purposeless and lost without the means to craft more weapons and disconnected from the history of the black armory founders (and her mother). Thus, she takes up Synth-weave to make a new legacy in armor crafting instead of weapon-crafting.

knifeyspooney3

I always hated this turn of events because in Season of the Forge we also found the Obsidian Accelerator, gave it to her and she plugged it into her head and she herself became a forge. And somehow this was entirely ignored and discarded by bungie as never happening

Trips-Over-Tail

You always lose your power-ups when the sequel starts. But her games were never made.

ArkhamAvenger205

Best way I can answer this is that her capabilities for creating Black Armory armaments is severely limited compared to the proper Forges, and she definitely couldn't produce at the rate she used to while maintaining quality. So, basically, depression

PreparationBorn2195

Exo's and severe depression name a more iconic duo

furno30

i just pretend that she helps our guardian with weapon crafting. Deepsight is just seeing how the weapon was built and then Ada helps us reverse engineer it with new perks

Condiment_Kong

Guys grandpa just woke up, don’t tell him about Stasis or he’ll blow a gasket

Mundetiam

Back in my day we didn’t mess with no dahkness. We had three elements and we were grateful! The kids these days got their not-ice and their strings and their megaminds and we had to make do with a stick and a rock! And the stick was a shifty gun and the rock was a silent ball!

Sash716

Grandpa: "it's nice to see kids these days playing with grass." Kids: "Grandpa... we told you before, this is Strand, not grass! Go back to your napping."

Trips-Over-Tail

You yungins don't know you're born. When I crawled out of my rusty grave we only had two subclasses, and we had to level up to unlock one of them! If you wanted the other element you needed special or heavy ammo and the right gun fer it!

TheValtivar

Damn, that brings back memories of solo solar nightfalls as a Titan, before getting Gjallarhorn. What a time

Trips-Over-Tail

You mean you didn't buy it from Xûr on week 2?

TheValtivar

I made the stupid decision to buy Helm of Inmost Light. At the time, helmet was the only thing I was low on. And I wanted the Gjallarhorn from the moment I first saw the concept art. It was fine though, I got it before Dark Below, lucky I didn't have to wait until Xur sold it next

Trips-Over-Tail

Mine dropped in a strike toward the end of House of Wolves.

TheChunkMaster

>and we had to make do with a stick and a rock!  And we had to share the rock!

MattHatter1337

Oh yeah....well back in MY day each class only had TWO elements. And we dun gud with what we had. Ypu yunguns are lucky to have a rock and a stick. We had our fists and the sweat off our back. And thems was the lucky uns.

mecaxs

**WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERES FILTHY FALLEN AND CABAL IN OUR WALLS!?!?** I’m going to my local faction leader to get these enemies deported! ……**WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE FACTION LEADERS!?!**

naylorb

Not about OP specifically, but it always make me laugh when you get these "I dipped out after Shadowkeep, what the hell happened???" posts. Like yeah the live service game didn't stop having story just because you stopped playing.

Aggressive-Nebula-78

First time back in a *long* while, eh guardian?

Smasher_WoTB

Nah, just never payed the fullest attention to the Lore....I've missed many little Lore Details, even back when I tried binging Lore Videos and spent like double or triple the time playing Destiny 2 than I did doing my SchoolWork. Although I didn't play much for most of 2022&2023, just felt too bitter about Sunsetting&content Vaulting and had enough going on in my life that I stopped. Got back into Destiny 2 in like February this year though, haven't spent a cent but am truly enjoying the game. The Lore tho....trying to "catch up" on the Lore is such a monumental task. Holy shit Bungie makes so much Lore.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> just never *paid* the fullest FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Smasher_WoTB

....so tired that I finally made that mistake. Ima go to bed now.

jereflea1024

why do people spell her name like an acronym. why. I have wanted to know for years and nobody will ever answer me seriously. I am genuinely so curious why you and so many other people caps-lock her name.

d00msdaydan

Redditors often mistake names that are 5 letters or under for acronyms, especially in UIs that use allcaps as part of the style like the way destination names are shown leading to almost everyone thinking Io is IO

epsilon025

I can't believe that Destiny 2 was just a teaser for Peter Gabriel's album I/O, crazy.

DuelaDent52

Apparently we were stretched thin with evacuations and operations back during *Arrivals* so when our backs were turned for five seconds the enemies sacked them for scrap and ran off with their swag. Having lost her life’s purpose (even though she’s supposed to be a walking forge herself now), she turned to old Clovis Bray research that lets her transmog stuff.

Smasher_WoTB

Oh, damn that's unfortunate

Lunchboxninja1

Im hoping one of the episodes will focus on her.

DespairCake

I still feel it was a missed opportunity with Into The Light, where instead of the ADUs we could have had MkII Forges, that would have spat out Hammerhead turrets.

Sanferuto

witness fanum taxed them

dracobatman

Bro just woke up from a coma, feels bad man

DrBlazkowicz

Ada picked up sowing. Somewhere along the lines the armory got… lost. It’s probably in the garage with all her other failed attempts at hobbies

dildodicks

season of arrivals

KnightofaRose

Because Ada is an ancient, Dark Age genius weaponsmith who… thought it was a good idea to leave precious, irreplaceable forges in hostile territory, completely unguarded, suffering untold wear and tear for *years* at a time, and subjecting them to inevitable damage, destruction, and theft. Oh, and she completely forgot about the Obsidian Accelerator we spent the entirety of Season of the Forge getting for her so that she could act as a walking forge herself. Just… *up n’forgot that that whole mess*, I guess. Big brain on that one. (Read: Someone at Bungie thinks very, *very* little of her and her place in the narrative, and straight up wrote her into a corner without any regard for her character’s narrative whatsoever.)

mecaxs

At least we seem to be getting somewhere with into the light for Ada-1’s forging future

primed_failure

Agree. Ada as a character was done dirty.

AddemiusInksoul

Making assumptions on the thought process of the writers is…kinda arrogant? “Oh I don’t like they did this so CLEARLY A WRITER HATED HER CHARACTER”

KnightofaRose

It is quite evident.

Real_Boy3

Season of Arrivals.
