As a veteran player that did the quest just because it’s a quest and gives two patterns, i was really happy they put this in game. The new light experience is awful and the game is difficult to understand as a beginner, having a quest guide you through the crafting process is a boon.
Yeah I normally don’t like 450 autos but I saw incandescent and with barrier auto being in the artifact I figured what the hell. Seeing those perks at level 4 made me genuinely smile since I have two new lights trying out the game for free week and now I can point them in the direction of a phenomenal primary weapon.
Not only that but sfa and incandescent enhanced are both at lvl. 13. Usually the top perks are at the highest level but these are some of the lowest for enhanced. Which is great. The only ones I know of lower are pointed enquiry which has genesis and adaptive at lvl. 7.
The mechanics in that raid are easy enough (outside of exhibition) but I hate how many symbols need to be memorized. You can buy a guaranteed red border every week so it's 5 weeks maximum after your first drop of a regular version.
I think the secret red border chest always rewards a weapon you haven't crafted yet as well.
Another bit to keep in mind about the red border chest is that you can only get it once a week per account, not per character. Idk if its guaranteed to be a weapon you dont have crafted though.
Also you can get 15 free spoils of conquest by grabbing the first secret chest on each character, maybe a red border if youre lucky.
It's the having the time to dedicate without my walking talking ejaculate needing feeding/bathing/playing minecraft mainly. And finding a quality team that I work/have fun with. Still only one vog clear down in all raids but I've got two quality chaps for gm's now at least so getting there.
I'm just happy the symbols are sorta easy to describe and also have in game names, unlike Last wish with all its symbols and the only difference in a few of them is a bird on a branch and bird descending lol thats why I yet to put my time into learning that raid. Love every other raid tho!
I love submission dearly, but I think Subsistenceis a bit ahead of overflow because you can more reliably use Souldrinker to save your ass since there’s only a sliver of a chance that you can’t reload when you need it.
I'm 99% PvE and love PM on my Submission. Unless you're locked in an animation like a finisher or a dunk, etc it's easy to always be moving, so it's effectively free stats.
My penultimate dream weapon is a lightweight Arc shotgun with Perpetual Motion and Voltshot. Easy Amplified, and the speed boost of Lightweight + sprint booster of Amplified + a movement Exotic (probably Dunemarchers or Transversives, I hate Stompees) = what I dub the Bullet Train build. AKA

I need an Ammit, but tbh, I'd rather try and get an Incandescent Staccato. I got a random drop with Triple Tap and Incandescent, then accidentally shredded it. I have not gotten a single Staccato since.
Yea as a veteran that takes a break for a season every year, it was nice that they included a quest that unlocks two patterns for you of the new guns. I hope they continue this every season.
Also the Thunderlord package or whatever it's called is great. Full set of armour with decent (not super high, but decent) stats and distribution, already upgraded and with mods in.
Nice for newbies to get, and also it comes as 'powerful' so vets can use it for levelling.
The best part is it unlocks the charged with light mods it has on it for you. I didn't have supercharged and stacks on stacks and got both from it. Was pretty happy.
On that note, is it time-limited? I feel like I saw a pop-up saying "Claim before X" but can't remember

It’s free. Go to The Enclave from the Throne World director tab. In the room with the crafting station, interact with the Relic Conduit on the left hand side and there will be a quest called Foundry Shaping for you to complete.
My only complaint, and it is a small one, is that they don't really tell you the quest is there. I wouldn't have known if I wasn't going to the Enclave to craft a weapon. Unless it did say something and I clicked past it without reading, which I'm prone to do. Other than that, it is a great intro to how crafting works and gives access to a truly great heavy.
I totally agree. The vendor doesn’t even light up with the interact notif unless you’re standing inside of it and even then doesn’t flash like it has anything for you
That actually makes me think, the first time you learn to use the Relic during WQ campaign, they send you over to the conduit. That step would have it flashing so they probably figured they could take a shortcut for new players and just let that quest draw their attention to the Foundry Focus quest
There’s a quest you can pick up at the Relic Conduit at the Enclave called Foundry Shaping and it gives you patterns for a nice Omolon auto rifle and an incredible Veist Linear Fusion Rifle
I’m confused, before reading this post I did a quest there which had me craft a glaive (which I did). I don’t think I saw anything about weapon patterns? Do I need to have completed the witch campaign to get this quest?

I'll be honest, this quest only became available this season and I finished the campaign a long time ago so I'm not sure. When I stopped by the Enclave to craft a weapon I saw a marker at the relic (left side of the crafting table) so I went to it and picked up 2 quests from it. One of it gave me a red outline auto rifle and told me to complete a core activity and complete the deepsight on that gun.
It's on the left side of the weapon shaping station. You get a quest to play the daily WQ mission for an ascendant alloy, and a quest that gives you the AR pattern, LFR pattern, and an ascendant alloy.
You presumably need to finish the campaign and unlock the replayable missions with Fynch rep. No need to hurry that I'm aware of, since I don't think these quests are seasonal content.
I just found out today by trying - I have not progressed WQ campaign on alt to be able to run weekly campaign missions.
But I just tried joining a LFG , and it let me in and rewarded me the alloy. (Also rewarded enhancement cores etc at two intervals during the mission. Treating as such was my first time) pretty cool!
You also need to finish the enigma glaive quest up to the part where you put an enhanced perk on it. I was only able to do the LFR part but not the auto rifle pattern quests until I finished that.
Yeah, my problem was being ready to start this quest, and then I picked it up on the one that hadn't completed the campaign yet. Oops. So now I need to log on with the one that has access to the weekly missions.heh

You don’t absolutely need BL but having a 4th subclass is definitely cool and it’s very unique. And I think you need BL for Lament which is an awesome exotic sword.
you just need to get the enigma up to level 3 and do what the quest says right after that. thats it, then you get access to the other quest for the auto and LFR.
as for the "need beyond light", that is completely up to you. no one needs anything in a video game. its your money, you spend it the way you want. i have it, play through it, unlocks all the fragments and i never touched the sublass after. but that is just me.
The Witch Queen is the current expansion. I don’t play on EGS so idk if it’s on sale or not, but that’s where you want to start if you’re getting back in. (And if you do don’t forget about the foundry shaping quest ;) )
Its definitely worth it. Its a whole new spec. Its kinda like if you were playing with only Void and Solar but no Arc. You can still play the game without it, but you’d be kinda missing out on a big feature that everyone else has at their disposal.
I won’t rest until all foundry weapons are craftable. I love foundry weapons and I’m determined to put mementos on all of them. Mementos look the best on those because of how smooth they all are unlike guns like the opulent weapons. Ornaments make those better though I guess
Enhanced perks vs adept big ones is one thing, the other is that while it's easier to proc font of might for reeds, with Taipan you can use void subclasses, which allows for better supers overall (novabomb, mobius, bubble). Even if you fail to get a void well in time (as it can be difficult in some encounters) you make up for it by being able to nuke the boss with your super. If you do get a well + font on Taipan the super edges it out.
Certain subclass abilities and "Elemental well" combat style mods require the same damage type in order to work. Font of might in particular is a massive, stackable (which is rare) damage buff that requires you to collect an elemental well that matches your subclass, and gives you a damage boost to all weapons of that element. Elemental wells themselves also provide more ability energy when they match your subclass. Mods like harmonic siphon also mean using same damage type weapons makes orbs at less helmet energy cost.
Other examples include void volatile rounds needing a void weapon, a solar fragment that allows solar weapon kills to extend radiant and restoration, and arc weapon multikills making arc subclasses amplified (and a fragment that makes arc special weapon kills blind), and many more.
I know that one piece of that puzzle might be the helmet mod for creating orbs. Masterwork weapons don't create orbs by default anymore, just in case you didn't know!
Your point still stands, though. Taipan can get enhanced perks which probably push it above Adept Reed’s ability to run Adept Big Ones, but I suppose that counts as a sidegrade. Void also definitely is a point in Taipan’s favor since there are more void singes and shields in the game overall.
Speaking of, did you know that the boss in the corrupted ether public event on the Throne World is (I think) the only enemy in the game with a Stasis overshield?
Wouldn't say it's better. Reeds has much more damage potential from font of might stacking.
That said trials sucks and getting a perfect roll from that mode is a huge headache.
the only way I think reeds can win is if you add font of might to the mix. 1000x easier on stasis but void are prob the next easiest because of the on demand nature of reaping.
I figured it would with stinger. My first one had ensemble and firing line, so that's what I've been using in the raid, and I like the feel of it better, too.
I want to give a mention to gutshot straight. Turns the gun from 6c1b to 5c2b up to 7 res, and drops body shot ttk from 1.2 to 1.07 up to 9 res. It also turns 3c5b (0.93 ttk) res threshold from 5 to 10 and allows 2c6b to kill up to 6 res. These are extremely relaxed thresholds. For reference there are guns in the game with a 1.0 second optimal TTK. Having the perk enhanced lessens the AA penalty, and it should be able to be counteracted with a TA mod. Probably won't make the gun meta but the perk seems criminally underlooked.
Posted a comment before I read through others and my experience is very similar. I didn’t find it very useful for 6s because everyone in my skill bracket just runs for cover the moment they take damage, but it’s a beast in rumble where people aren’t afraid of a gunfight.
It’s definitely usable in 6s but there are just better options with better burst damage. I still like using it though, it feels very good to use. Great stat package on it, and the tap the trigger/dynamic sway is an insane combo on a free gun.
No it’s a fair complaint. I’m pretty sure everyone who’s done it heard it from someone else. There’s absolutely zero notification that the quest is there, delightful as its existence may be.
Have you started the new light quest? How do you know there is zero indication? How are any of the quests indicated to the player?

I actually have run the New Light quest. I don’t know how I’m coming across as antagonistic. There is nothing indicating that a player should go interact with the Relic Conduit for this quest. I suppose there may be a different quest that points you there at the same time you can pick up Foundry Shaping, but this quest doesn’t get its own indicator. I hope you have a pleasant day.
So pointing out usability/findability issues is complaining? It’s just kinda hidden, that’s all. Great for new lights, but if they don’t even know it’s there, it’s not of much benefit.
Expecting new lights to be browsing Reddit to know about stuff like this is unreasonable.

That being said, new lights have to go to the enclave as part of the entry to Witch Queen which makes them go to the Enclave almost immediately, which is where the quest is.

One of the biggest disappointments I had with the crafting system was the fact that it felt like it made for *everything other than* foundry guns, and it’s not really surprising my shotgun of choice is my crafted Ragnhild.
Getting extra foundry stuff with top-grade, grind-worthy perk options was always going to be welcome - having them made available to basically any player to put the levelling grind in if they wanted them is a further plus.
It’s recently felt this game has become a bit too hostile to newer or less experienced players (I’ve been helping a casual mate and getting him set up for higher content has been a chore) so it’s great to see excellent gear having a deterministic route to grab it.
Enhanced triple tap and firing line on taipan is really good. If you get lucky you can fire more then 10 rounds because of viest stinger. Was my gun of choice for day 1 kings fall.
It’s definitely a step in the right direction, especially if they include the 5min intro video they debuted at the showcase when you first boot up the game.
Also, I love they brought back “Uriel’s Gift” of sorts. Loved that AR so much.
Heck, I’d say it’s better! I had one of each element back in Y1, and I was stuck with the static roll of Tap the Trigger with Steady rounds.
Now I can craft and am running Stats for All/Incandescant
My only complaint is that nothing on the director shows they're available. Most of my clan didn't know about them till I mentioned them, and I only found out when I went to reshape some weapons
It would be even better if it wasn’t buggy. I made both and neither pattern shows as complete in my collections. Even though I’ve completed ANOTHER deep sight of each, it didn’t complete the pattern completion. Also, one of the seasonal triumphs says I shaped a No Reprieve even though I only have 2/5 deep sights.
Not trying to hate on it too much. I agree it’s great and it gets the point across to New Lights; use Deep Sights, extract X patterns and then shape the new weapon. But it could add confusion to what is supposed to be a helpful explanation if they see the pattern is incomplete.
For the No Reprieve, did you happen to have it equipped when you shaped another weapon? There’s a bug where that counts as shaping it. (Makes the seasonal challenge for shaping three seasonal weapons real easy though)
Ammit low key a dueling monster in PvP. It’s mid in 6s but very impactful for rumble. Tap the Trigger and Dynamic Sway coupled with a full bore and ricochet rounds makes this a real problem for hand cannon users and can challenge most ranges you’ll come across in a typical rumble match. The steadiest 450 you’ll ever use, makes Firefright look useless.
I got a Taipan with Triple Tap and Focused Fury as my very first random drop of the new season. Not a perfect roll, but considering I don't have a Reed's, Cataclysmic, or Stormchaser, it was a blessing for Day 1 King's Fall. It allowed me to keep using Trinity Ghoul for ad shredding, and when paired with my Reconstruction Succession and Chaos Reach, was the reason I was consistently putting out best or second best DPS on Shufflemaster Warpriest ~~who really needs to be glued to a fucking anchor STOP RUNNING YOU PRICK~~, which is where my team ended up tapping out.
This Foundry Shaping needs to stay, but I'd personally like to see it be an option for Prime engrams as opposed to Umbrals. Save the Umbrals for seasonal content, and Primes for world drops.
I was about to make a post about this. I have two near god roll linears which I had to put hours into grinding for. I was almost upset when I seen that the forge was giving one away *for free.* Then I started thinking that this isn't a bad thing. I get myself a god roll, and the new lights aren't subjected to the mindless grind that I was. Now I think it is a great thing.
Quest is buggy. Second weapon I've received for it haven't produced any patterns, so now I have to hope that engram focusing will give me any deepsight copies.
Taipan is completely different issue. It's better than Reed's. It's being given out for free.
Bungie giving it out for free is spiting in faces of all players that were farming Trails for it. Right now, there's no reason for PvE players to even try Trails.
I understand the frustration from a veteran’s perspective about giving New Lights easy access to powerful loot, but I think that with King’s Fall landing it’s not an unreasonable thing for Bungie to give a straight path for returning Guardians to get a handful of solid god-slaying weapons into their grasp.
Enhanced perks. Focused fury, Frenzy benefit from Enhanced perks. Clown Cartridge and Triple Tap benefit a lot from enhancing.
Reed's has one niche, but it's very very narrow. Supreme Wellmaker builds.
Taipan is actually an upgrade to reed's because it's if you play void it works with font of might, it can be enhanced so you get better triple tap, and it is obviously easier to get
While you’re correct, keep in mind that Reed’s is Stasis and thus can Font of Might with a Stasis subclass. While Taipan gets enhanced perks, Reed can get Adept mods so it’s not an entirely one-sided battle between the two.
I'm a returning player and am confused about dlc ownership. If I get a weapon right now that is only available via dlc, will I keep it once the free trial runs out?
Ammit with Enhacned SFA and Enhanced Incandescent has become one of my favorite PvE weapons for Solar.
And the linear fusions is basically an easier to acquire Void version of Reed's.
It's definitely a boon for New Lights because one of the biggest thing that makes it difficult for them to excel at tha game is lack of good weapons.
I started playing D2 about a month ago and after reaching 1570 toward the end of S17, getting these two new weapons for free with patterns takes a lot of stress off my mind about grinding for rolls on raid guns or other drops.
I guess i gotta check my quest log, i did that part and got the upgrade material. Didn't do much else with weapon crafting bc it just seems like a grind
* Go to Nessus, artifacts edge lost sector. 2 runs max and you’ll have done the weapon progress part.
* play casually and you’ll progress sooner or later
I was consistently doing the most damage on warpriest in contest and regular runs using that linear - crafted mine with triple tap and firing line. As long as veist stinger procced at least once I could reliably empty all of my heavy ammo every DPS phase
I see people mentioning the new lfr is an easy pattern unlock but I’m not seeing this quest and google hasn’t been able to help me. Anyone able to help point where to go?

The quest is called “Weapon Shaping” you get it from the Relic Conduit at the Enclave. (That’s the interaction point on the left side of the crafting table) It gives you the patterns needed to craft the weapons mentioned above, which are both *very* nice guns :)
I just came back, I haven't played in years. I'm struggling with this quest as I don't know what I should be doing. I'm just so completely overwhelmed as to what to even focus on right now. If anyone is looking for another to run stuff with you can pm me here or if anyone can point me in the direction of where to go. I play on ps5 but just downloaded the 30 years bundle on cpu too so I can play on both.
Where do you pick this quest up? I stopped playing a week or 2 after WQ launched and I don't remember this being around then. I did the quest to make the glaive but this sounds totally different. Trying to come back even after only taking 2 seasons off seems incredibly overwhelming to me.
How so? It’s the PvE equivalent of Reeds Regret and is designed for more drawn out dps phases. Stormchaser is made more short dps phases like caiatl since it’s most desired perk is clown cartridge
It makes me wish once you instantly got more of the same gun with red borders when you extract. Getting that 5th red border weapon for a pattern is a slog.
I messed the quest up and dismantled my first Taipan, and if you do that it doesn't progress the quest so I basically cucked myself until I get one to drop.

I dismantled my red border auto as I thought it said in the patch notes that I didn't have to complete it and I'd still get the pattern. Nope, stuck at 1/2. Rip
I would like to throw the newly buffed Ambitious Assassin into the equation for the Ammit AR2, as the explosions and kills from incandescent will proc it, and it is quite something to have an 80 round mag on a 450 rpm auto rifle. I already crafted mine with enhanced AA and Incandescent and it has replaced my Calus mini-tool almost immediately.
Question, adaptive munitions or incandescent? I feel like with the Midas I have that sorted with Incandescent, but adaptive munitions on an auto rifle is pretty damn handy.

Submission has enhanced Overflow and Frenzy at level 7 as well but much higher barrier to crafting than Pointed Inquiry or Ammit

Nice! I finally saved up enough about a month ago to get the sparrow. Slowly working up again for one of the raid weapons.

Perpetual Motion is an impeccable perk. I have a Wastelander with it, and it is the perfect fit for my Bullet Train build.

I did it because the AR can be fitted with Triple tap and Fourth Times' The linear is one of the best DPS weapons in the game
Really hoping the guardian ranks thing coming in Lightfall helps the new player experience alot.

There’s a quest you can pick up at the Relic Conduit at the Enclave called Foundry Shaping and it gives you patterns for a nice Omolon auto rifle and an incredible Veist Linear Fusion Rifle
I’m confused, before reading this post I did a quest there which had me craft a glaive (which I did). I don’t think I saw anything about weapon patterns? Do I need to have completed the witch campaign to get this quest? Edit: OP edited their post to include the following, which explains my issue (I have not completed the second question mentioned). "You have to complete both Shaping and Reshaping The Enigma quests before Foundry Shaping becomes available from the Relic Conduit at the Enclave."
I'll be honest, this quest only became available this season and I finished the campaign a long time ago so I'm not sure. When I stopped by the Enclave to craft a weapon I saw a marker at the relic (left side of the crafting table) so I went to it and picked up 2 quests from it. One of it gave me a red outline auto rifle and told me to complete a core activity and complete the deepsight on that gun.
The quest is also confusing. What is a "deepsight weapon objective"? That terminology has never been used. Just say "attune a weapon".
Only heard about it from a youtube video either. No flag on the map either to signal this.
There is a foundry shaping quest? I am away from my pc but do not remember that, is it at the quest board or something
It's on the left side of the weapon shaping station. You get a quest to play the daily WQ mission for an ascendant alloy, and a quest that gives you the AR pattern, LFR pattern, and an ascendant alloy.

You presumably need to finish the campaign and unlock the replayable missions with Fynch rep. No need to hurry that I'm aware of, since I don't think these quests are seasonal content.
I just found out today by trying - I have not progressed WQ campaign on alt to be able to run weekly campaign missions. But I just tried joining a LFG , and it let me in and rewarded me the alloy. (Also rewarded enhancement cores etc at two intervals during the mission. Treating as such was my first time) pretty cool!
You don't need to actually have unlocked replayable missions, as long as you join someone who can do them you can get the reward and completion.
You also need to finish the enigma glaive quest up to the part where you put an enhanced perk on it. I was only able to do the LFR part but not the auto rifle pattern quests until I finished that.
Yeah, my problem was being ready to start this quest, and then I picked it up on the one that hadn't completed the campaign yet. Oops. So now I need to log on with the one that has access to the weekly missions.heh

How do I finish that quest? Sorry. Just started playing, barely found out about the free week thing, but bought witch queen anyways. Also as a new player do I need beyond light? Is stasis worth it? It’s on sale on epic games for $15. I just have no clue what I actually need lol.
Stasis is fun on pretty much all 3 classes. For $15 I'd say it's worth it.

You don’t absolutely need BL but having a 4th subclass is definitely cool and it’s very unique. And I think you need BL for Lament which is an awesome exotic sword.
you just need to get the enigma up to level 3 and do what the quest says right after that. thats it, then you get access to the other quest for the auto and LFR. as for the "need beyond light", that is completely up to you. no one needs anything in a video game. its your money, you spend it the way you want. i have it, play through it, unlocks all the fragments and i never touched the sublass after. but that is just me.
The Witch Queen is the current expansion. I don’t play on EGS so idk if it’s on sale or not, but that’s where you want to start if you’re getting back in. (And if you do don’t forget about the foundry shaping quest ;) )
Yeah it was also on sale at $24 I already got it, but I keep hearing about stasis in beyond light. Is it crucial to have?
Its definitely worth it. Its a whole new spec. Its kinda like if you were playing with only Void and Solar but no Arc. You can still play the game without it, but you’d be kinda missing out on a big feature that everyone else has at their disposal.
I won’t rest until all foundry weapons are craftable. I love foundry weapons and I’m determined to put mementos on all of them. Mementos look the best on those because of how smooth they all are unlike guns like the opulent weapons. Ornaments make those better though I guess

Trials, gambit, and GMs. Unfortunately, despite crafting being out for 3 seasons now, these are the only mementos. Huge waste so far lol
The linear fusion is arguably better than reed's regret, which blows my mind. Reed's still looks slicker.

It can achieve the same adept perks for the pve godroll and its craftable. I'll keep my reed's for stasis builds though.
Enhanced perks vs adept big ones is one thing, the other is that while it's easier to proc font of might for reeds, with Taipan you can use void subclasses, which allows for better supers overall (novabomb, mobius, bubble). Even if you fail to get a void well in time (as it can be difficult in some encounters) you make up for it by being able to nuke the boss with your super. If you do get a well + font on Taipan the super edges it out.

As a returning player, I was wondering why there is such an emphasis on matching damage type to subclass. Is there something I'm missing?
Certain subclass abilities and "Elemental well" combat style mods require the same damage type in order to work. Font of might in particular is a massive, stackable (which is rare) damage buff that requires you to collect an elemental well that matches your subclass, and gives you a damage boost to all weapons of that element. Elemental wells themselves also provide more ability energy when they match your subclass. Mods like harmonic siphon also mean using same damage type weapons makes orbs at less helmet energy cost. Other examples include void volatile rounds needing a void weapon, a solar fragment that allows solar weapon kills to extend radiant and restoration, and arc weapon multikills making arc subclasses amplified (and a fragment that makes arc special weapon kills blind), and many more.
I know that one piece of that puzzle might be the helmet mod for creating orbs. Masterwork weapons don't create orbs by default anymore, just in case you didn't know!

Your point still stands, though. Taipan can get enhanced perks which probably push it above Adept Reed’s ability to run Adept Big Ones, but I suppose that counts as a sidegrade. Void also definitely is a point in Taipan’s favor since there are more void singes and shields in the game overall. Speaking of, did you know that the boss in the corrupted ether public event on the Throne World is (I think) the only enemy in the game with a Stasis overshield?
Wouldn't say it's better. Reeds has much more damage potential from font of might stacking. That said trials sucks and getting a perfect roll from that mode is a huge headache.
the only way I think reeds can win is if you add font of might to the mix. 1000x easier on stasis but void are prob the next easiest because of the on demand nature of reaping.
Not to mention how Taipan is literally monstrously good for boss damage

I figured it would with stinger. My first one had ensemble and firing line, so that's what I've been using in the raid, and I like the feel of it better, too.
What about compared to a firing line Stormchaser, or triple tap/Firing Line Reeds?
It’s by far the best. Veist stinger on top of those perks means fat damage when you craft it
The ar slaps too. Great range great stability ok sights. I make people switch to it all the time when I run it in pvp

I want to give a mention to gutshot straight. Turns the gun from 6c1b to 5c2b up to 7 res, and drops body shot ttk from 1.2 to 1.07 up to 9 res. It also turns 3c5b (0.93 ttk) res threshold from 5 to 10 and allows 2c6b to kill up to 6 res. These are extremely relaxed thresholds. For reference there are guns in the game with a 1.0 second optimal TTK. Having the perk enhanced lessens the AA penalty, and it should be able to be counteracted with a TA mod. Probably won't make the gun meta but the perk seems criminally underlooked.
Posted a comment before I read through others and my experience is very similar. I didn’t find it very useful for 6s because everyone in my skill bracket just runs for cover the moment they take damage, but it’s a beast in rumble where people aren’t afraid of a gunfight.
Two the trigger is great for those peakers. Plus you get the omolon fluid dynamics for the increased stability on the top half of the magazine.
It’s definitely usable in 6s but there are just better options with better burst damage. I still like using it though, it feels very good to use. Great stat package on it, and the tap the trigger/dynamic sway is an insane combo on a free gun.

No it’s a fair complaint. I’m pretty sure everyone who’s done it heard it from someone else. There’s absolutely zero notification that the quest is there, delightful as its existence may be.
Have you started the new light quest? How do you know there is zero indication? How are any of the quests indicated to the player? Anyway, not trying to be antagonistic. You guys have a good day!
I actually have run the New Light quest. I don’t know how I’m coming across as antagonistic. There is nothing indicating that a player should go interact with the Relic Conduit for this quest. I suppose there may be a different quest that points you there at the same time you can pick up Foundry Shaping, but this quest doesn’t get its own indicator. I hope you have a pleasant day.
So pointing out usability/findability issues is complaining? It’s just kinda hidden, that’s all. Great for new lights, but if they don’t even know it’s there, it’s not of much benefit. Expecting new lights to be browsing Reddit to know about stuff like this is unreasonable.
I see your point, apologies for coming off crass. That being said, new lights have to go to the enclave as part of the entry to Witch Queen which makes them go to the Enclave almost immediately, which is where the quest is. Anyway I'll leave it alone. Have a good day sir!
Hope to see enough weapons start getting covered soon by this so that new lights not only have more options to choose and experiment, but so that we too can have more missing archetypes get filled in.
One of the biggest disappointments I had with the crafting system was the fact that it felt like it made for *everything other than* foundry guns, and it’s not really surprising my shotgun of choice is my crafted Ragnhild. Getting extra foundry stuff with top-grade, grind-worthy perk options was always going to be welcome - having them made available to basically any player to put the levelling grind in if they wanted them is a further plus. It’s recently felt this game has become a bit too hostile to newer or less experienced players (I’ve been helping a casual mate and getting him set up for higher content has been a chore) so it’s great to see excellent gear having a deterministic route to grab it.
Perhaps this will be a beginning of a better experience for new lights.

Enhanced triple tap and firing line on taipan is really good. If you get lucky you can fire more then 10 rounds because of viest stinger. Was my gun of choice for day 1 kings fall.
It’s definitely a step in the right direction, especially if they include the 5min intro video they debuted at the showcase when you first boot up the game. Also, I love they brought back “Uriel’s Gift” of sorts. Loved that AR so much.
I’m glad for you that you got your *Uriel’s back :) I know it’s not literally the same gun but Omolon 450’s have a lot of fans I’ve learned.
Heck, I’d say it’s better! I had one of each element back in Y1, and I was stuck with the static roll of Tap the Trigger with Steady rounds. Now I can craft and am running Stats for All/Incandescant
My only complaint is that nothing on the director shows they're available. Most of my clan didn't know about them till I mentioned them, and I only found out when I went to reshape some weapons

It would be even better if it wasn’t buggy. I made both and neither pattern shows as complete in my collections. Even though I’ve completed ANOTHER deep sight of each, it didn’t complete the pattern completion. Also, one of the seasonal triumphs says I shaped a No Reprieve even though I only have 2/5 deep sights. Not trying to hate on it too much. I agree it’s great and it gets the point across to New Lights; use Deep Sights, extract X patterns and then shape the new weapon. But it could add confusion to what is supposed to be a helpful explanation if they see the pattern is incomplete.
For the No Reprieve, did you happen to have it equipped when you shaped another weapon? There’s a bug where that counts as shaping it. (Makes the seasonal challenge for shaping three seasonal weapons real easy though)

Recently hopped a Titan for the new light experience, and I gotta say the improvements to the quest lines are amazing
Ammit low key a dueling monster in PvP. It’s mid in 6s but very impactful for rumble. Tap the Trigger and Dynamic Sway coupled with a full bore and ricochet rounds makes this a real problem for hand cannon users and can challenge most ranges you’ll come across in a typical rumble match. The steadiest 450 you’ll ever use, makes Firefright look useless.
I still need to know where to find a fuckin' trace rifle tho tbh
Dates of Eternity and Nightmare Containment drop the only two Legendary Trace Rifles in the game. They are both craftable, which is nice
I got a Taipan with Triple Tap and Focused Fury as my very first random drop of the new season. Not a perfect roll, but considering I don't have a Reed's, Cataclysmic, or Stormchaser, it was a blessing for Day 1 King's Fall. It allowed me to keep using Trinity Ghoul for ad shredding, and when paired with my Reconstruction Succession and Chaos Reach, was the reason I was consistently putting out best or second best DPS on Shufflemaster Warpriest ~~who really needs to be glued to a fucking anchor STOP RUNNING YOU PRICK~~, which is where my team ended up tapping out. This Foundry Shaping needs to stay, but I'd personally like to see it be an option for Prime engrams as opposed to Umbrals. Save the Umbrals for seasonal content, and Primes for world drops.
Can't understate it enough. It's so good for new lights and helps veterans give direction.
I was about to make a post about this. I have two near god roll linears which I had to put hours into grinding for. I was almost upset when I seen that the forge was giving one away *for free.* Then I started thinking that this isn't a bad thing. I get myself a god roll, and the new lights aren't subjected to the mindless grind that I was. Now I think it is a great thing.
Quest is buggy. Second weapon I've received for it haven't produced any patterns, so now I have to hope that engram focusing will give me any deepsight copies. Taipan is completely different issue. It's better than Reed's. It's being given out for free. Bungie giving it out for free is spiting in faces of all players that were farming Trails for it. Right now, there's no reason for PvE players to even try Trails.
I understand the frustration from a veteran’s perspective about giving New Lights easy access to powerful loot, but I think that with King’s Fall landing it’s not an unreasonable thing for Bungie to give a straight path for returning Guardians to get a handful of solid god-slaying weapons into their grasp.
Oh, no issue if it was just solid weapon. But it's strictly better than Reed's.
What makes it *strictly* better than Reed’s?
Enhanced perks. Focused fury, Frenzy benefit from Enhanced perks. Clown Cartridge and Triple Tap benefit a lot from enhancing. Reed's has one niche, but it's very very narrow. Supreme Wellmaker builds.

Reed can accomplish the same thing, seeing as it has all the same perks. I guess Enhanced Triple Tap widens the window for Taipan to do so though :)
Its the Viest perk that lets you shoot without reloading, so you dont have to sacrifice a damage perk

all the recent drops I have is the trails perk, could be i got unlucky with my drops and got some glitched ones

Taipan is actually an upgrade to reed's because it's if you play void it works with font of might, it can be enhanced so you get better triple tap, and it is obviously easier to get
While you’re correct, keep in mind that Reed’s is Stasis and thus can Font of Might with a Stasis subclass. While Taipan gets enhanced perks, Reed can get Adept mods so it’s not an entirely one-sided battle between the two.
I'm a returning player and am confused about dlc ownership. If I get a weapon right now that is only available via dlc, will I keep it once the free trial runs out?
You get to keep all the gear you acquired during the free trial. I wish the mods would pin a post about that for the week.

Ammit with Enhacned SFA and Enhanced Incandescent has become one of my favorite PvE weapons for Solar. And the linear fusions is basically an easier to acquire Void version of Reed's. It's definitely a boon for New Lights because one of the biggest thing that makes it difficult for them to excel at tha game is lack of good weapons.
I started playing D2 about a month ago and after reaching 1570 toward the end of S17, getting these two new weapons for free with patterns takes a lot of stress off my mind about grinding for rolls on raid guns or other drops.

I guess i gotta check my quest log, i did that part and got the upgrade material. Didn't do much else with weapon crafting bc it just seems like a grind
* Go to Nessus, artifacts edge lost sector. 2 runs max and you’ll have done the weapon progress part. * play casually and you’ll progress sooner or later

I was consistently doing the most damage on warpriest in contest and regular runs using that linear - crafted mine with triple tap and firing line. As long as veist stinger procced at least once I could reliably empty all of my heavy ammo every DPS phase
I see people mentioning the new lfr is an easy pattern unlock but I’m not seeing this quest and google hasn’t been able to help me. Anyone able to help point where to go? Edit: now that OP provided the name of the quest line I was able to search better. Looks like you pick up the quest from the relic.

The quest is called “Weapon Shaping” you get it from the Relic Conduit at the Enclave. (That’s the interaction point on the left side of the crafting table) It gives you the patterns needed to craft the weapons mentioned above, which are both *very* nice guns :)
I just came back, I haven't played in years. I'm struggling with this quest as I don't know what I should be doing. I'm just so completely overwhelmed as to what to even focus on right now. If anyone is looking for another to run stuff with you can pm me here or if anyone can point me in the direction of where to go. I play on ps5 but just downloaded the 30 years bundle on cpu too so I can play on both.

Where do you pick this quest up? I stopped playing a week or 2 after WQ launched and I don't remember this being around then. I did the quest to make the glaive but this sounds totally different. Trying to come back even after only taking 2 seasons off seems incredibly overwhelming to me.
Go to the Enclave where you do crafting. Go to the Relic Conduit on the left and the quest will be waiting for you there.

I like it. I wish that heavy wasn’t quite so good though. Makes the majority of other linears, including former god rolls, irrelevant.
How so? It’s the PvE equivalent of Reeds Regret and is designed for more drawn out dps phases. Stormchaser is made more short dps phases like caiatl since it’s most desired perk is clown cartridge

It makes me wish once you instantly got more of the same gun with red borders when you extract. Getting that 5th red border weapon for a pattern is a slog.
As a new player, what kind of mods should I pick on it as I create and level it? People here are talking about so many different mods…
I messed the quest up and dismantled my first Taipan, and if you do that it doesn't progress the quest so I basically cucked myself until I get one to drop.
The quest doesn’t specify taipan. Just grab a different deep sight and complete that. You still got pattern progress :)

3.5 mill damage done to oryx pretty consistently... tipan is becoming my favorite dps weapon.

I dismantled my red border auto as I thought it said in the patch notes that I didn't have to complete it and I'd still get the pattern. Nope, stuck at 1/2. Rip

The crafting system is great, I wish all guns were craftable.
I would like to throw the newly buffed Ambitious Assassin into the equation for the Ammit AR2, as the explosions and kills from incandescent will proc it, and it is quite something to have an 80 round mag on a 450 rpm auto rifle. I already crafted mine with enhanced AA and Incandescent and it has replaced my Calus mini-tool almost immediately.
Question, adaptive munitions or incandescent? I feel like with the Midas I have that sorted with Incandescent, but adaptive munitions on an auto rifle is pretty damn handy.
Incandescent is nuts on this bad boy. It with stats for all means near constant uptime.
