Every year I look at this lineup and think "Oh where is \_\_\_\_\_\_" and think of some player that can't be considered a prospect anymore like Soderblom. Time flies I guess.
And yet almost none are graduated/have made the Wings. That list of defensemen has only 3 names of any interest in A.S.P., Buium, and An Jo, the rest are guys that will never be NHL'ers despite all the picks the Wings have used on defenders.
So cool to have a wave of talent close to NHL ready and then so many of these guys just marinating behind them. I remember when the cupboards were BARE.
Wondering the same. I swore past years it was open to the public and you could get tickets for the 3 on 3 but I don’t see that anywhere. Maybe I’m thinking pre Covid
Damn I just want good news and yet there’s none to be found. Probably shouldn’t read into it too much either way, goalies take time, and I didn’t know development camp had an age cap so that’s new info for me.
I'm not sure if it's an age cap but maybe because he played the majority of the season in GR they told him he doesn't need to be at dev camp and to just prep for main camp. Seeing as Kasper, Mazur, Ed, Wallinder and Lombardi aren't here either
Definitely no hard and fast age cap and the criteria varies/doesn't seem to be set in stone.
Hirose and Kuffner both attended development camp after the conclusion of their first NHL stint out of college. Fulcher attended the following season after a year in Toledo (and 15 minutes in the NHL.)
Sounds like Yzerman's criteria for dev camp this year is to not have had a full North American pro season yet. Which is surprising because I would have at least expected Bednar to be on the list, based on years past.
From the context of your question. Cossa not being here should tell you something about his development track. He is getting closer to being NHL ready, and he has progressed beyond attending these young prospect development camps.
There are other names you don't see here: Edvinsson, Kasper, Wallinder, Johansson, etc. They are all further along in their development.
Glad to see it’s good news that he’s not here, maybe he’s closer than I thought… I had fall of 2026 as backup / club roster and 2027 as hopeful high level starter. Maybe we are a year ahead of this schedule, which would be good news.
RE: Your original post about signing or trading for a goalie. It still might make sense to sign or trade for another goalie. However it probably doesn't make sense to sign a goalie for 7 years at 8 million a year. Which is what a Premier free agent goaltender is going to be asking for.
For sure, I agree with that. I saw about Nashville’s backup and was a little miffed that most fans (that commented) were strongly against because he’s only a year or two ahead of Cossa. I still think there may be a trade out there for us, I’ve lost total confidence in Husso, and that was even before his injury issues.
At least Nygard’s name will always be easy to spot in a list
ASP is pretty easy to spot as well
If the two got married, they could be MBNSP and ASPBN, respectively. Those sound more like certifications than names
He'll need a second row on his jerseys.
Just look for the longest name
Every year I look at this lineup and think "Oh where is \_\_\_\_\_\_" and think of some player that can't be considered a prospect anymore like Soderblom. Time flies I guess.
It’s not that they aren’t “prospects” I think it’s that they’ve played at the AHL level significantly. Kasper, Edvinson, Mazur are def still prospects
Yea, that essentially what I was saying, just probably worded a bit better. The kids aren't exactly kids anymore.
And yet almost none are graduated/have made the Wings. That list of defensemen has only 3 names of any interest in A.S.P., Buium, and An Jo, the rest are guys that will never be NHL'ers despite all the picks the Wings have used on defenders.
You ever hit your head as a kid? Your constant takes are always the worst out of all the known haters.
I'm not going to act like every move made by Yzerman is great simply because he made it, guess I'm a hater because of that, lol.
I still pray red savage randomly cracks the team cause I need that name on a Wings jersey
Number 69
Can’t wait for axel to crack the roster, kids gonna be an all star
Red Savage is the most Red Wings name ever.
I’m always rooting for him
He wears 21 on MSU. 21 Savage lol.
Sebastian Gatto sounds like someone's cat
Two goalies named Sebastian, with a 5 letter last name that has a double consonant and a a&o. Is he also a giant?
Is there any criteria these players have to fall under to be invited? It's interesting that Danielson is here, but Kasper isn't.
Per Max on Twitter “No Kasper, Mazur, Cossa after all 3 played their first full seasons in GR this year”
No buch :(
Which is interesting as he was working out in Michigan last week…
I think he’s overgrown camp like this
I’m not sure he ever attended dev camp with the wings
Right, dude plays in a real mens pro league.
I was thinking the same thing, very odd he was here working out with some of our prospects that are attending but isn’t on the dev camp roster
Makes me wonder if he'll stick around till training camp or of that's too close to KHL camps
Not sure but I'm guessing being under contract to a khl team might have something to do with it. Might not either but that would be my first guess.
He was here in MI training last week, but yeah I wonder if his team blocked it
When does this start?
Today I believe
I just looked it up it's July 1-5
This is a great list, almost all the big names seem to be able to make it. Can't wait to see how everyone is looking.
So cool to have a wave of talent close to NHL ready and then so many of these guys just marinating behind them. I remember when the cupboards were BARE.
We have Baker, Becker and Bicker
Just need Boker and Bucker to complete the set
NDN and LDN are both skating!
Anyway I can watch the games?
Wondering the same. I swore past years it was open to the public and you could get tickets for the 3 on 3 but I don’t see that anywhere. Maybe I’m thinking pre Covid
I did watch it last year. My gut is telling me it was from YouTube. I’m holding out hope they put the 3 on 3 tourney on their YouTube channel.
First look at Rychlovsky amongst other draft picks too. Glad ASP could make it.
Borya Valis is an interesting one. He’s been pretty good in junior and got a more time to shine with PG this year. I’m curious to see how he does.
Trevor Taulien from YOUR Ferris State University
Cool to see Kearsey get an invite. He was a guy I thought should have been drafted.
No Jan Bednar?
Played a full season in the echl last year, I don’t thinks he’s eligible
Need Cossa and Gatto to do a fusion dance and I demand the new name be Sebastian Sebastian
Is this open to the public? I could’ve sworn past years it was but I’m not seeing any tickets
No clue sorry
Why no Cossa? I was told his presence in the system is why we can’t think about signing or trading for any goalie…
Only 1 goalie named Sebastian at a camp. Weird rule, but gotta do it.
Too old now I believe
So he’s closer to the roster than I thought! I assumed we would expect him as backup in fall of 2026 and full time starter by fall of 2027.
Age =/= Roster readiness He's too old for development camp but that doesn't mean he will be in the NHL soon
Damn I just want good news and yet there’s none to be found. Probably shouldn’t read into it too much either way, goalies take time, and I didn’t know development camp had an age cap so that’s new info for me.

Good luck this year bud!

Thats why most here were hoping for Ullmark. However that coulda worked idk, just wanted him.
The dev camp usually includes prospects from the last two drafts (this and last) plus invitees Our other prospects have aged out of it
Nice thanks.
