plitspidter

Joseph and Perron really didn’t wanna play together huh

big_phat_gator

Perron and Larkin got super close in Detroit

uknownick

Perron took Joseph’s spot

culturedrobot

Boy I'm jonesing for some hockey and it's only July 2nd. This does not bode well.

Kagath

Just a little over 2 months before we start seeing the good stuff. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

LGRW_Sparty88

Been diving into the new prospect highlights but yeah 2 long months coming up.

plitspidter

Hopefully Datsyuk can fix whatever happened to Debrincat

Razzahx

Nothing happened to him and he also is a pro so he wouldn't be at development camp.

plitspidter

He didn’t slump later on in the season? I’m also assuming datsyuk is going to be a bigger part of the team than just development camp

Razzahx

Everyone slumps though. Its just something that happens. Its not something that needs outside help to fix. Datsyuk probably just gets involved with prospect development in general like Kronwall.

ando772

Someone pointed out a good fact Yzerman usually pulls a presser once he’s done in this period Nothing booked yet So more to come ???? #LGRW

BiggestYzerfan

Who knows. Last year he did his presser on the third, but signed everyone on the 1st (no trades either). So if no presser tomorrow he may be cookin still

Routine-Budget7356

I feel like a true wildcard might happen, like trade of Johansson and Berggren for something bigger. Idk, I just can't tell, they are both good, but Detroit have kinda neglected Berggren, and Johansson is probably NHL ready, but does he have a spot on this team? Do they dare to take the chance? It would be a wildcard tho, because you don't really know what you have in kids like this before they get some growth in NHL, just look at... Was it forsling? That got picked up by Florida on waivers and just killed it in Florida and ended up winning a cup? Idk, hope it doesn't happen, but you really never know, these FA is kinda like a lottery. A player that is great on one team, can suck on another, or wise versa.

ddwhalen

I understand the feeling. It seems like we have too many players some places and not enough in positions of need, but maybe I'm just misjudging the direction of this roster. For Example, it seems to me, we have 5 locks for top 6 forwards (Larkin, Debrincat, Raymond, Kane, and Compher) There is a compitition for the 6th spot between Fabbri, Berggren, Mazur, Kasper, and Danielson? The third line seems to be set with the resigning of Fischer. (Rasmussen-Copp-Fischer) The fourth line seems like it will include Veleno and Motte, with the last spot being filled by Fabbri or Berggren, because the other three competing will be sent to GR before being placed on a fourth line. With the third line being reserved for a shutdown roll it seems to be either top 6 or AHL for the prospects. The D pairs seem to be Chiarot-Seider Edvinsson-Petry Gustafsson-(Maatta, Holl, or Johanson) This leaves 2 healthy scratchs every night. The Goalies Talbot, Husso, Lyon with Campbell being sent to the AHL to back up Cossa. Yzerman has said he doesn't want to run 3 goalies again, so it feels like one of them could be moved. Also, having 5 left handed D on your NHL roster is less than ideal, while a trade isn't necessary it just feels like one is coming. I guess I should just expect to see Mazur, Kasper, and Danielson start in the AHL and all these conversations from fans or from Max Bultman about the kids coming in and that leading to a regression are a little over blown. Johanson will be our only rookie on this roster acording to NHL qualifications.

Routine-Budget7356

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade for some of our prospects, I think especially Berggren & Johanson, perhaps including Husso? For a 2nd liner forward to play with Kane & Compher(c), or on first line with Larkin(c) and Raymond.. and then DeCat will be on either first or second line. Or for a solid 1/2 line defender. Question is, who would take it? I think without Husso involved it's a good deal, because Johanson and Bergy probably don't take up more than $2.5 in cap space together. Could see them cooking something like that with of course other factors involved. Edit: not even sure they can be called prospects anymore tho.

ddwhalen

I think you could get more value out of trading Maatta with 50% salary retained than an unknown like Johanson. I really want to see Berggren play on the second line. In 2022-23 season he put up 15g 13a in 67 games, and he was over a point per game in the AHL last year. I think he could be a 20 goal guy in our top 6, but maybe that is why he has trade value. Husso's contract seems like it would be hard to move, but maybe with 50% retained it has some value to the right team in need. I guess we still have 3 months until the seasons starts. I'll just have to wait and see.

Routine-Budget7356

I agree, I guess we can only see what will happen. Oh I also really want to see Berggren on the second line, just not sure how his defense is holding up with Kane, but I also think he has a bad rep because of how he got to play and adjust, he didn't get a longer stretch, but was called up, down, up, down constantly during his time in NHL, so he could possibly be way better than people think if he gets some confidence and time on the ice.

bandofgypsies

Was watching that vid of kronner and datsyuk at Dev camp...just looking at Kronner you can tell he's already got that scary powerful old man strength where he can probably like pick you up by the ear with two fingers AND somehow it only hurts you a little and you're just left thinking OMG I simply shall not fuck with this man. As an older man, I do not have that strength..

Salamangra

I think at the end of the day I'm most upset about losing Gibson. I liked the kid's game.

LGRW_Sparty88

Definitely hurts losing an RD prospect, I’m hoping Kiiskinen turns into something to soften the blow.

ajr6

Team seems to have moved laterally at best so far this offseason. Really have to count on some unknown variables to hit if we’re to see improvement in the standings. It still seems like we may have a trade or two so things could change but as for now I don’t see the playoffs happening

BeautifulPlace2Drown

We’re a better roster to start this season then we were at the start of last season. At least it looks that way to me, only time will tell

ajr6

I think we have a very similar roster and others around us improved more than we did from my perspective. The only thing that is a wild card is our youth movement if it happens and what it produces could change what our team looks like.

Routine-Budget7356

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. It's pretty much how it is, but we have the prospects to play and see if they hold or not instead of old veterans.

ajr6

Yeah I’m not sure why that’s the case with any opinion other than we’re going to the playoffs. I want us to be good more than anyone but just have to call it as I see it.

Razzahx

Yea but no one cares how YOU see it. What exactly gives you the credentials to say how something is or isn't.

ajr6

What gives you the credentials to disagree? I Thought this was a place to generate discussion about the team we all love? If my opinion isn’t sunshine and butterflies does that make it less valid? I’m open to hear reasoning to why I am incorrect.

LGRW_Sparty88

Maybe I don’t understand this Reddit thing but I thought it was like a vote, thumbs up for agree thumbs down for disagree and we reach a consensus. People keep getting mad for being down votes but its nothing personal. If an opinion is unpopular that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

ajr6

I’m not sure that’s proper Redditcit to downvote anything you disagree with. But it certainly has evolved that way to some. Karma was meant to “reward” people for adding to communities and “punish” those who didn’t add anything and were generally assholes. Which is why it is met with disdain when people get downvoted for having an opinion.

jfstompers

Lol say anything remotely critical or negative it's down voted to oblivion. Doesn't matter how sensible it is.

sleepy_cat13

The secret is that downvotes won't make this team more than mediocre.

13dangledangle

Here’s a serious question. Is Steve Yzerman cooking? I really, truly thought he was up to something-maybe something happened is happening? It seems like a trade is imminent

Imanoldie

I’m reading Ekblad is a possibility…

Resident_Rise5915

His big trade was going to be Trouba but then life kinda got in the way of that

CD23tol

Something might be Based on the roster you’d think a right handed D man or a 2nd line winger would be options Then again he might just see who wins jobs in camp and waits until the fall to make a move

Wingnut17

Necas incoming. Or maybe someone else similar.

AmeriCanadian98

This is unquestionably my main hope. That kid is a baller

13dangledangle

This is my hope. If we land Necas I’d be very happy, we need one more top 6 scoring piece imo

wayjoseno

We can't know... but I feel we are done besides signing our 4 RFAs. If we truly believe Berggren is done with us, there might be a trade there but I don't know if we can trade away an NHL-ready forward.

johnnysappleseed11

Probably trying. I wouldn’t expect too much. Doesn’t seem like teams are budging. If they are, they aren’t looking to take on our bad contracts. Teams want roster players or assets.

AffectionateMrPink

Signed us a cheap PK 4th liner in Tyler Motte. 1 yr 800k. Defensive specialist.

WallSt_Boo_jahideen

I wonder if this is a part of a plan to lower the usage of Larkin to keep him fresh.

bandofgypsies

Poor Zadina, to be on this list *and* way at the bottom. Easy to take pot shots but I do hope he finds a spot somewhere and gets a chance to pivot his game a bit in a lower leverage role. https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/1dtx6t0/capfriendly_after_day_2_of_free_agency_here_are/

FragmentEx

He’ll probably get the chance in Czechia or Switzerland

CaptYzerman

After the upcoming season Maata and Petry come off the books for just over 9 mil. How are we feeling about that?

Background_Junket_35

So does Fabbri I think

Problemwoodchuck

Petry had a couple of retentions along the way so his cap hit should be around 2.5 mil

CaptYzerman

Oh yeah, I knew that. So it's 5 and a half free then. 4 more free from Husso too

uknownick

4 more from Fabbri too

CaptYzerman

If he's healthy and productive maybe an extension idk tho

umbertounity82

I think it’s best to move on from Fabbri after this year. His offensive production is great but he can’t stay health. And that’s only going to get worse as he ages.

CaptYzerman

I don't disagree, I thought he would be gone in the last cpl years. Last season he came out looking like one of our shooters

uknownick

With how our young guys progressing I could see him gone so we can have 12-13M next summer to play with

LGRW_Sparty88

I wouldn’t mind a trade for an RD but I’m honestly glad we have some forward slots open. If we count Ray JV and Burgers that leaves one open slot. If one of Nate Marco Mazur or Soda can shine in training camp and earn a spot I feel like they could benefit with some playing time with Kan, Larks, Ray etc. Lines are always changing, Fabs or Burgers might have to rotate in as well which won’t be ideal for the top 6 but they want the kids playing big minutes. If none of them are ready then we may have bigger problems. I wouldn’t be mad if we found another top 6 piece and kicked the can one more year but we have to start seeing these picks soon.

uknownick

I am ok with our current forward group We will just make some moves at deadline if needed

drankpisss

Love the Datsyuk interview. Hate that they gave him the worst microphone lol

culturedrobot

I, for one, will happily play the part of the innocent victim caught in the middle of this whole Trouba mess. I am *offended* and *hurt* that Trouba is apparently so repulsed by my favorite hockey club and our underdog dreams. The man is a monster!

duelingdog

Man is sad he can't see his wife, but I can't even find a big tiddy goth GF. Sounds like 1st world problems to me Jake!

poutinetrough

let's get this out onto a tray. nice.. mmkay...

dr-stuff-ak-619

This army mochaccino is decadent

culturedrobot

nice hiss

brtnbrdr33

Mathieu Joseph trade between the Sens and the Blues is a similar sal dump to the Walman trade. Going rate for around 3million seems to be ~3rd round pick. In line with value of a Tampa 2nd. Makes sense given Yzermans comments regarding “trying” to make a move. Seems cap dumps are demanding a premium.

jt4266

Or maybe the wings set the market

SeiderFiveThree

Problemwoodchuck

I wonder how long it'll be before Dolan bans Trouba from all of his venues in NYC

wayjoseno

"First player to do a bong hit while doing a trade negotiation"

calannin

It’s a little much how down people are on the team. It was the same thing last year and I made the argument to let it play out - second year coach, progress from young guys, gelling of the new guys, we might end up being decent and sure as shit. I think we might end up being decent this year. Maybe Talbot performs decent, or Ed has a good year, or Petry or Holl pulls a Chiarot and is decent, a new guy or a rookie or two hit real solid? Any of those things could have a strong positive effect. I’m choosing optimism. Let the season play out. Hell, let the rest of the offseason play out, before we pass judgement.

VHDLEngineer

>I made the argument to let it play out This is my motto when it comes to sports. People get way too emotional over things that haven't happened yet. We don't even know what the final roster looks like and some people are already writing off the season.

duelingdog

I'm also just waiting to see what the rest of the offseason holds. We currently have 8 NHL forwards signed; some teams may be pretty much done for the summer, but the Red Wings are not.

drankpisss

Did Trouba officially say that he’s not going to report if he’s traded or something? Or are these just rumors? I need credible sources for these things or else the internet will make up its own narrative.

Busy-Drawing-2576

Nope don't believe anything unless you hear it directly from him or the team.

xenonwarrior666

Dude it's off-season negotiations. You're not going to get written in stone MLA sources. It's hockey gossip About the closest you'll get is that the dude reporting things is a NY hockey beat writer that has a group of sources and gets more things right than wrong. If that's not good enough well it's not good enough.

drankpisss

Dude I’m not asking for a direct quote from Trouba. Every article I have read on this situation has only gone as far as saying he doesn’t want to be traded. There is nothing about him saying he won’t report to a team outside of that No Trade list. It’s not crazy for me to think that a bunch of people online are going to start spinning this narrative to where he’s saying he’s just straight up not going to report to a team if he’s traded. I literally just want to know if he actually said something like that. Edit: lmao I guess I am asking for a quote

elvishblood_24

So truba really didn’t want come here huh

bestprocrastinator

How come he don't want me man?

elvishblood_24

🥺

mps0909

If he stays I wonder if it will all blow over. Given the headlines and the way people are, I’m sure Trouba and his wife are getting some terrible messages and such. Drury has been quiet as well so wonder what’s happening.

uknownick

Not this season. He wants to wait for his wife I think he would be open for a trade next summer Honestly I could see him getting moved by trade deadline

wayjoseno

It sounds like he doesn't want to go anywhere.

Danengel32

Seeing this Datsyuk interview is awesome. So much nostalgia

uknownick

If I were some of the prospects, I would try to get a 30 min 1 on 1 session with him to learn and get inspired

Danengel32

For real. He’s the type of guy that could change a young players perspective in as little as 30 seconds. Saw the game so differently

Confident-Secret8962

Pinto taking 2 years 3.75m is surprising, gives the sens some wiggle room

BaldassHeadCoach

Could be a gamble for the Sens, but has the potential to be a jackpot for both the team and the player

xenonwarrior666

How cheap was the first contract he turned down. 3.75 doesn't seem like a bad contract. Maybe it was too much term at a lower cap hit

Confident-Secret8962

I'm not sure, his projected number was 5 and change but it was thought he wanted some term, I guess he agreed to a lower cap hit for only two years. ah well, it would have been funny if he got offer sheeted but it's not to be

Busy-Drawing-2576

Cam Atkinson 1 year 900k to Tampa. Sounds reasonable

dkyguy1995

NHL 24 is going to be free on PS so Im going to play franchise mode when it opens up and see if I can have a better off-season than Stevie

TheAnalogKid18

Why didn't Steve just sign my 99 OVR Created Player Larry Dikbut?

duelingdog

Hah. Larry.

BaldassHeadCoach

Just turn off the salary cap and you can show Yzerman who’s the real boss around these parts

dkyguy1995

I'll also draft my 6'9" 300 lb. defenseman Dick Dirtbag

poutinetrough

henrik who? pav still loves to fuck around lol

uknownick

I am sure he calls him Hank

poutinetrough

ya prob but it was in his interview video where someone asked about Henrik. so he responded as such

big_phat_gator

Datsyuk talking about how he wants to visit Zetterberg was so heartwarming to hear.

matt_minderbinder

What's the over/under on how late into the season fans will continue shoehorning "future considerations" into their trade theories? I'm sure we'll still see it through the start of the year but is there a chance that it'll pop up during trade deadline chatter? Future Considerations is a messianic figure and people will gaze at the horizon waiting for the big (never returning) payback to come home.

Kagath

The Sharks will trade us Celebrini when he's old and washed up for nothing.

poutinetrough

future considerations was the potential to pick up zadina lol

MoldyMerkin

I'll say it each time we beat San Jose for the remainder of my life.

wayjoseno

The common consensus is that "future considerations" means we aren't getting anything at all. I don't know how often that is proven otherwise but it is super rare at best. Maybe that is wrong this time though. Maybe it is a longer-term play. Yzerman seems pretty buddy-buddy with the Sharks. Maybe there is something there for the future.

matt_minderbinder

Yep, future considerations is, more often than not, that the other gm picks up dinner. It's the proverbial bag of pucks. I just find it funny how often people have set expectations on what's almost always a throwaway in a trade contract.

duelingdog

Well now that you've said it I'm going to try to do it every time something every time a trade rumor comes up. Reporter: "I'm hearing the Blues are looking for middle-six player to curb an injury" Me: "This is clearly where the SJ future considerations comes into play."

wayjoseno

It is entirely possible all this Trouba stuff is false or overblown to some degree. I definitely wouldn't want him on our team if he truly didn't want to be in Detroit. "Why doesn't he just fly back to New York as much as possible?" - I don't know "He doesn't refuse to play away games does he? How would being on a different team be all that different?" - I don't know "His contract says he can be traded to 17 teams." True. He could retire immediately though. Any player could. Maybe Trouba's heart is just not in it anymore. Maybe he is rich enough that he doesn't care about forgoing the money or not fulfilling his contract. Maybe he has reasons we don't even know about that would make it difficult to leave his wife and newborn. The man has made around 55 million over the course of his career. If he even saved 20% (after taxes), he is probably sitting at around 10 million if he invested it conservatively. If you were sitting on 10 million and felt you were being jerked around by your company, you might put up resistance as well. From poking around the Rangers subreddit (not posting! reading!), they seem to mostly hate him. I'm not sure if the vitriol is mostly because of his supposed resistance to being traded or if they just don't like him and his play.

msbenjamin22

1. Datsyuk just come out of retirement after getting into the hall, it'd be epic. Could only play PP and be worth it. 2. Underwhelming day yesterday, regardless that the contracts given out were too high or too long 3. While cute, the dog bus schedule release made no sense

TheNation55

How ya'll gettin' triggered over anything with Mick in it?

msbenjamin22

Just an opinion, not triggered It's allowed

johnnysappleseed11

How did the dog bus make no sense?

msbenjamin22

Explain it lol

Redwings1023

Well… earlier in the season Lyon was asked what he’d like to do for a career if he couldn’t be a pro hockey player and he responded that’s he’d like to be a doggie buss driver. So it makes total sense.

msbenjamin22

He wasn't driving the bus Also seems pretty inside joke and not really Red Wings It's fine, just didn't pump me up Not a big thing

ScarlettBlades

He's not driving it because he was at a wedding so Mickey filled in for him. *shrugs*

msbenjamin22

Still don't think it's good lol Just one opinion

magikarp-sushi

The last 7 games of the upcoming years schedule on paper right now are not exactly ideal lol

MoldyMerkin

Interviews with our FA signings are popping up on the Wings YouTube channel.

xenonwarrior666

I'm watching the Talbot one. I doubt Husso steals a starting or back up gig. I figure we're going to waive him out of camp or work out a trade. Lyon has the better value but he's a better option than Husso

Background_Junket_35

Yeah Husso is pretty clearly the odd man out

xenonwarrior666

I'm guessing he didn't mean it as a dig but when talking about the goalie situation in Detroit he said something to the effect of Ville was there and Lyon played really well in the second half. No mention of Reimer lol

BaldassHeadCoach

I just don’t see how Husso comes back after re-injuring himself (twice, I believe). Even when he was healthy, he was struggling.

matt_minderbinder

It's so hard to even guess at his future without knowing exactly what his injuries were. If it's a groin or core injury things could take a long, long time before feeling normal. If it's something more simple perhaps he'll be healthy for camp. That was a situation that really left us in the dark guessing.

BaldassHeadCoach

>If it's a groin or core injury things could take a long, long time before feeling normal. And even then, it’s possible it’ll never be 100% normal for him. There’s a lot of goalies that injure their groin once, and it’s like a ticking time bomb as to when it goes again. It was like that with Howard. Which is probably why we brought in Talbot and Campbell. There’s just no guarantees when it comes to goalies having injuries like that.

uknownick

Husso cost us lots of games last season He was bailed out on some nights when we were scoring like 5-6 goals

BaldassHeadCoach

Oh yeah he was not a stable force in net and hasn’t been since the 2023 calendar year started. When Husso was starting, the team had to score 4 or more goals just be on the safe side. One bad breakaway goal against and you could expect him to give up two or three next in 5 minutes or so. If he had been even league average, it’s a different story.

xenonwarrior666

That's where I'm at. I'm not comfortable starting him till I see he can play 10+ games and not hurt something.

BaldassHeadCoach

That and if he can make a save on a breakaway once in a while.

FragmentEx

I wonder if Trouba winds up with the Islanders or Devils instead, since he'd still be in New York. Sounds like he won't be coming to Detroit this year either way due to putting us on the no trade list.

uknownick

Both of those teams are tight on cap too. And solid on defense. Rangers might have to retain like 50% to trade him

LGRW_Sparty88

I doubt either of those teams are interested in helping the Rangers out so if he does I suspect it’ll be a high cost to move him.

xenonwarrior666

Philly, Pittsburgh and Buffalo are reasonably close. I'm guessing he put all of the Rangers Divisional opponents on the trade to list.

uknownick

DC (caps) is 45 min - an hour away by flight

Wakattack00

Not to keep piling on the Walman trade bashing, but this Dumoulin trade really confirms for me that Stevie did not shop Walman at all, which we kind of already knew. To the Ducks of all teams too with our former assistant GM.

Problemwoodchuck

It may just indicate that the trade had an x factor that we're probably never going to know about in full rather than Yzerman fell asleep at the wheel.

Confident-Secret8962

Dumoulin had stellar defensive metrics on a team that missed the playoffs. Walman had terrible defensive metrics on a team that missed the playoffs while playing almost exclusively with Seider. Walman has two years left on his contract, Dumoulin is expiring.

Wakattack00

Dumoulin didn’t play the 2nd toughest minutes in the league. He’s a 3rd pair guy. What do Walman’s metrics look like as a bottom 4/bottom 2 dman? Seider’s metrics are shit too is he worth less than Dumoulin? Metrics only matter when compared to players playing in a similar situation. Comparing the metrics of a player playing well above his means vs a guy playing against 4th liners is hardly comparable. The term could be something, but I doubt it. Not for the Ducks who gave Killorn and Gudas those contracts.

Kagath

Didn't the Wings media (Art and the gang) have some kind of media for Dev camps in the past or was that just the Training camp?

markcubin

Anyone know anything about Chase Bradley? 22 year old LW on a 2 year ELC signed by the Wings according to CapFriendly.

TacoTurbTime

He's signed with Colorado

Danengel32

It’s funny when you can tell GMs said “I gotta go in on for a few hours today and get some work done.” Armstrong for the last few hours is definitely in that situation. Rapid fire two trades and an extension in like a 45 minute span

PremierBromanov

"Hello, you've reached University of Michigan Health - Ann Arbor" "Hey, this is Steve. I need a favor"

b902006

Two thoughts: I don't think Yzerman was happy at all with our team defense last year. And I don't think it's about how well a player defends one on one, but whether they stay within the team's defensive structure. I'd say this offseason is about fixing that more than anything. If you can't play within the team structure, you're not coming back. Second thought: Has everyone soured on Debrincat? I've seen it mentioned multiple times that we should get at least one pure goal scorer on the team. Do you think Debrincat can be that person anymore?

BenAdaephonDelat

> Do you think Debrincat can be that person anymore? I'm not ready to write him off, but he had several catastrophically timed cold streaks last season.

BaldassHeadCoach

>I don't think Yzerman was happy at all with our team defense last year. This was very clear when Yzerman was interviewed mid-game just after the trade deadline passed. It was the Arizona embarrassment and he was fuming. Must have repeated “We need to play better defensively” like 5 times that interview.

AmeriCanadian98

He can, but he's streaky and we need him to be more consistent Hopefully he's able to. If not he's a good top 6 forward with a goal scoring touch but can't really be considered an elite scorer

Djbreadandbutter16

This trouba thing is a whole mess. Trouba won't report to teams he can be traded to lol

Busy-Drawing-2576

Don't believe everything that's reported unless it's directly from the player or the team. There's a lot of mixed messages about this in the news right now.

TheAnalogKid18

Where'd you see that?

Flamengo81-19

> Trouba won't report to teams he can be traded to lol Where was that reported?

xenonwarrior666

Sounds like the Rangers should push for breach of contract and terminate him. I know he's the Captain but he's not living up to his contract and is being completely unreasonable. People in the "real world" have to put up with moving for work and being away from family for way less fucking money. Dude is being spoiled as fuck.

plitspidter

For exercising the NtC has team gave him?

xenonwarrior666

This isn't about the Detroit trade. Now that it's a 15 team NTC he's refusing to report to the other 17 teams if they work out a trade.

Problemwoodchuck

He'll probably end up reporting if he gets traded, this feels like Trouba flipping the bird at the Rangers by driving the return way down. The next trade offer will probably be way worse for the rangers now that the rumor mill has been churning.

xenonwarrior666

Looking a week before the deadline the Rangers asked for his no trade list early so they could work out a trade with a preferred destination. That's likely where the Detroit stuff started. We weren't on the no trade list so they figured out a trade then asked him to waive his NMC he said no and then put us on the no trade list.

xenonwarrior666

It definitely could be a tactic to drive down his value and make a trade less likely.

Caltroit_Red_Flames

> Dude is being spoiled as fuck. Fuck that. Dude's got a family. He can submit his NTC and then if teams are in contact with him they're tampering anyway. I'm gonna be on the side of players in these situations every time.

xenonwarrior666

He has a 15 No Team no Trade Clause and is refusing to report to the other 17 teams.

Caltroit_Red_Flames

Yeah I have no problem with that. If we wants to forego millions of dollars to stay with his wife I see no issue with that but until he is officially denies to report to a team that he's on, e.g. he's traded to Detroit and doesn't report, then he hasn't breached his contract. He's fully within his right to say how he would act. If you disagree that's fine but I'd say you're too caught up on this silly game we love and are forgetting the human element. These people are not pawns for our amusement.

xenonwarrior666

I have no problem if he wants to retire and forego that salary. Good on him for doing what's right for him and his family. Him not living up to the contract he signed and refusing to honor it is what I have an issue with. He signed a contract saying he could be moved in the last two years of his deal. You can't be mad about it when you're not pulling your weight and the team wants to move you to 17 other teams of your choice.

Caltroit_Red_Flames

Yeah I just disagree. He hasn't done anything against his contract yet. He's allowed to say "I will violate my contract if this happens" and other teams can respond accordingly, unless there's something in the CBA that says otherwise but that's not the case to my knowledge. And before his wife's residency was extended he was fully willing to be traded. Things change and I care more about family issues than Rangers management.

xenonwarrior666

Oh yeah the Rangers can't do shit until a trade actually happens and he refuses to report.

Vast_Sandwich_5245

I definitely get both sides, but yeah he shoulda made it a full NMC if he didn’t want to leave NY. hes being a little bit of a privileged brat if he’s not willing to report. At least he could terminate his contract without any real repercussions other than losing his salary.

magikarp-sushi

Danielson and ASP looking good at camp according to red wing twitter

Confident-Secret8962

Pinto is interesting, he's 23, right shot, can play center, he's over 6 feet and scored at a pretty good clip with good analytics on a pretty bad Sens team last year. I wonder if anyone is gonna offer sheet him, his cap hit will prolly be in the $5m range next year which would cost a first and third for an offer sheet.

Razzahx

Sens are going to extend him. They opened up the cap space.

Confident-Secret8962

Pinto is gonna cost 5 and change prolly, so they're gonna be cutting it really close for icing a minimum roster that's cap compliant and will have zero wiggle room for depth/injuries. It'll be interesting either way.

jarvek7

T.B.S.S. I really feel for the Senators and am sorry to hear of their cap predicament... no... no.. actually I'm not. Fuck them and their fickle fans. I hope they have to give up major assets to get out of cap hell.

CD23tol

As long as we announce extensions for Mo and Raymond ahead of time I’d be intrigued

Caboose119z

I am feeling such immense joy over how the whole "Overpaying for Perron so you can't pay Pinto and needs to trade Joseph with a third to create cap space" situation is turning out.

uknownick

This rivalry between Red wings and Senators is so funny 😆

jabbuks

I had a dream that I woke up and checked reddit to see that Ray was signed for 8 years and Mo for 3. Get it done Stevie. (Tho I would prefer both signed for 8)

Way2Grizzled4U

Since I just seen the Panthers going the scripps route. What’s the status on the wings and tv?

JTAKER

I was just wondering the same thing a little bit ago. Hopefully it's announced soon.

BiggestYzerfan

Joseph being offloaded from the Sens with a draft pick. Seeya out West!

FragmentEx

despite the odds, the Sens just got slightly more likeable

uknownick

I guess Perron took his job

Razzahx

He got justice for Larkin once again.

jarvek7

Too Karmic to believe yet... it happened.

jspqr

Very similar situation to Walman. Makes that move seem a bit less bizarre.

CD23tol

Turns out that was the going rate to clear cap space

drankpisss

When every team knows your situation with the cap why would they willingly help you? It’s going to cost you something.

Damnit Wally, getting me in the feels.

Caboose119z

Alright place your bets. Forward: Ehlers, Marner, Necas, Kyrou, Zegras, Kadri, Draisaitl, Barzal, Nelson, Kakko, Pinto, Schmaltz. Defense: Andersson, Girard, Werenski, Ekblad, Savard, Trouba, Krug. Goalie: Gibson, Gustavsson, Askarov.

Late_Brush4518

None

BiggestYzerfan

St Louis taking on some contracts so I'll be insane and say Buch somehow.

AmeriCanadian98

Well... I'd cancel that bet

uknownick
