Agreed, it doesn't seem right that a person with a Saphire Hammer can get the same amount of EXP for the same Stardust and a slight increase in bars used as a Diamond Hammer
I've seen this comment a few times in chat but I don't really agree. Having a gem in the hammer is only meant to better your bar:xp ratio. The whole idea of the star dust is to be a money sink. Also, you shouldn't be able to just power up the crafting ranks just because you were lucky enough to find a diamond.
Its not Luck to be able to use a diamond in your hammer. You can find them yes, but if you take the time to buy one, it still should reduce the amount of stardust needed per exp you gain when used.
This is my only opinion but it seems the same for others.

Well, I just got a hammer upgrade orb from a treasure chest, so... nevermind. :-)
Does this appear under your key items or is it invisible like the hand pumps and shovel?
It changes the color of your hammer.
