Yeah. I'd think Disney would be a little pricier.
My constantly "broke" buddy spent around $30k on his wedding. Little did he know he could get married for around $100 at the courthouse.
My sister got married at the gazebo outside of the Disneyland Hotel and reception was at GCH. Back in 2008, it was $40k. If she wanted to shut down the park (during the week, in the evening) it was $100k minimum.
That’s not too terrible for a wedding really, on average weddings sit around 30-40,000 and that’s is the cheaper states. That’s probably a pretty decent wedding budget for California.
Yeah I think it was a small wedding, my husband and I are in Texas and when we were looking at wedding planning and here where things tend to be a bit cheaper it was at minimum 30,000 for 50 people at a decent wedding place. We ended up doing a smaller thing with just our families due to the fact we wanted a more intimate thing than 50. But the cheapest around where we live was 30,000 so 50,000 really isn’t shocking
It's still insane to me that people spend that much money for essentially one party. I'm not poor by any means, but there's no way I would've spent anywhere near that to get married.
I had a post covid wedding planned before covid. I paid $28,000 for 20 guests. It was in the 2 most coveted venues Disneyland hotel has. I had the crystal carriage and a castle shoot as well. I think it was well worth the money, it was the most magical experience for everybody involved.
I looked at the budget on her other page and thought the same thing. Can’t have as many guest as a normal wedding of that cost but you also have one of a kind location.
Althought it might be wet from the rain, depending on the day this was taken it could also be from third shift custodial. Disney has a whole crew of third shift workers whose sole job it is to power wash all the paths and walkways every night.
Did some back of envelope math on their budget and I do not make enough to even look at their budget. I only got halfway around the pie chart before I was priced out.
Because she did her wedding in GCH rather than the park during open hours, it is much within the realm of attainable. I don’t know if it has changed but I remember that it used to be that if you wanted to get married in the park during open operating hours and have a semi private event (where they rope off) you have to cover their fee plus the average daily concessions revenue for that sector in the season on top of other things. It can get very expensive very quickly.
Originally Mom and me trip with my daughter. Did one with my son at the same age. Through really bizarre circumstances, got gifted a VIP tour and so now my SO and son are flying up for a couple of days for the trip so they can participate.
Was suppose to be run of the mill Disney vacation…. Now probably going to be a trip of a lifetime. Everyone is very excited!
That is amazing! I hope you guys have a great trip and a lively time! We just completed our annual trip (2 kiddos) and stayed at the VDH. Haven’t stayed at GCH since pre 2010 so I’m quite jealous.
> park during open hours
Probably a stupid question because this is America so if you have the money, anything is available but... they let you book in the park during operating hours for a wedding? Are we looking at 7 figures at that point?
The body of OP’s budget post also states it was roughly 56k after everything.
Stunning wedding, OP, I imagine you made some absolutely magical memories ❤️ What a dream!
Right? I was expecting something absurd. I've been married for more than 20 years, and I don't remember exactly how much the event cost, but it was 5 figures at least and we purposefully did a super intimate thing at home. My brother did the full catholic thing with country club reception and all that jazz in the 90s and that was just about as much as this in old-timey dollars
Some people are also blessed with generous and successful parents or other relatives, that usually helps. And if one or both of them made good career/personal choices, even more. Hopefully OP appreciates what an amazing experience this is, they sound like a genuine person so I imagine they do!
But Absurdly Jealous is definitely an accurate reflection of my feelings about it too 🤣
Thank you for the kind words! My now-husband and I both have full time jobs and are DINKs (just dog children). This is the largest “purchase” we have made besides buying our house!
You seem like a really kind and genuine person, so I was getting my back up at people getting mad about the price 🤣🤣 Your money, your choices, and it sounds like you and Hubs are on the right path! And tbh 50k isn’t what it used to be (😩😬) so I’m with other commenters that it’s not really as much as I would’ve expected!
And I almost mentioned the likelihood that you are DINKs, we have several sets of friends in the same position and I often live vicariously through their dependent-free adventures; they’re leaving for a con tomorrow, in fact, and just got back from another trip a few weeks ago. So many adventures! So enjoy it, lady, your wedding was gorgeous and I wish you many beautiful years with your new husband! 🫶🏼
Honestly, the true wealth here is that they can drop $55k, pay cash for it and it doesn't worry them. I feel like most people who get married are DINKS but don't have this kind of money. It's a blessing to be able to just write a check and go on with your life. A lot of people can't do that for even $1,000.
In my part of the US, $55k is a downpayment on a house. At the very least, it is a very, very nice luxury car. That's a ton of money for one weekend. The pics are gorgeous but to be able to go home and not worry about the cost - that's the true wealth right there.
We spent about that on our wedding, so I was initially really impressed by how affordable all of that looked in OP’s photos, but then I saw that it was only 20 guests!
We had 175 😫.
Her photos are stunning though, what great looking wedding.
Yeah, honestly, it wasn’t as much as I remember it being. I thought I remember thinking it was about $80k minimum just to be at Disney (not mentioning clothes/etc)
I just added the numbers off of her budget chart and it came out to $51,602. The Disney stuff themselves make up a little over half the total amount, so like $25k+.
It’s less than I expected. Guest count only 20, so on the pricier side, but I’m not shocked at how much weddings cost. My sister’s was 40k overseas for 100 guests in a cheaper country where it would’ve been 120k in the states.
$55k for only 20 guests is absurdly expensive. Most weddings in that price range have a whole lot more guests than that. Most people who pare their invite list down to only 20 people do so in order to save money. Paying $120k for 100 guests in the US is not a typical situation at all.
Holy shit. That third photo is PERFECT. The framing. The flowers. The lighting. The grizzly peaking out (but otherwise you could be anywhere else). And of course you two! It's so good.
Gorgeous! Congratulations! Held our wedding reception at The Grand Californian 18 years ago, food catered by Napa Rose - it was truly magical and guests had a blast. Can't go wrong with a Disney wedding ❤️
Was your wedding reception in a garden type of area outside? I think we saw you there! We saw someone having a reception there on Friday anyway. Congratulations! Gorgeous pictures!
We had a wedding a the grand wedding garden last year and did Main Street photos w white rabbit …. The best experience ever!!! Congratulations! Beautiful photos and looks like a lovely time!!! ❤️
How early were these taken?
5:30-6:30am
Your photographer lit them well.
how much did you pay disney for the weeding?
OP says in another post it was a little over $55,000
It's insane to me that people spend that much on a wedding.
Oh yea, I would never spend $55k on a wedding, but I was expecting it to be over $100k
Yeah. I'd think Disney would be a little pricier. My constantly "broke" buddy spent around $30k on his wedding. Little did he know he could get married for around $100 at the courthouse.
My wife and I got married at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico on the beach. When everything was done we spent about $800 including the airfare.
It really depends on how many people you need to fit/how big of a room you need to rent. I’m guessing it was a small wedding.
Yeah I think it was a small wedding, my husband and I are in Texas and when we were looking at wedding planning and here where things tend to be a bit cheaper it was at minimum 30,000 for 50 people at a decent wedding place. Pretty affordable ngl
It's honestly not as much as I thought it would be. I bet getting married inside the park is outrageous tho
I looked at the budget on her other page and thought the same thing. Can’t have as many guest as a normal wedding of that cost but you also have one of a kind location.
Only 20 guests though
That seems incredibly cheap.
You can pay for just photos too, that's what I did
Environment, conditions and photography are all S tier. I don't wanna know the cost but these are insane and I'm jealous
Thank you!
The rain soaked pathways makes them even more spectacular looking :D
Thank you!
Althought it might be wet from the rain, depending on the day this was taken it could also be from third shift custodial. Disney has a whole crew of third shift workers whose sole job it is to power wash all the paths and walkways every night.
Ha! I was going to say the same thing. I worked third shift custodial and this looks like it.
How expensive was this
I’m not even sure I make enough to look at the photos
Did some back of envelope math on their budget and I do not make enough to even look at their budget. I only got halfway around the pie chart before I was priced out.
If you go to my profile, I made a separate post about our budget!
Honestly I was expecting it cost much more considering it’s a Disney wedding. Gorgeous wedding!
Because she did her wedding in GCH rather than the park during open hours, it is much within the realm of attainable. That still is a really good venue price at a nice hotel.
Oh absolutely. I’d argue that GCH is better than a nice hotel.
Staying for the first time in May and looking forward to it.
Going by yourself? With a SO? Kids?
Originally Mom and me trip with my daughter. Did one with my son at the same age. Through really bizarre circumstances, got gifted a VIP tour and so now my SO and son are flying up for a couple of days for the trip so they can participate. 1000000% worth it. Love the photos and congrats to you both!
I appreciate all that you're sharing, but percentages doesn't really answer the question. Edit, I'm an absolute idiot. I didn't see the other slides.
The body of OP’s budget post also states it was roughly 56k after everything. Stunning wedding, OP, I imagine you made some absolutely magical memories ❤️ What a dream!
That’s actually not bad!! Beautiful pictures too. I would’ve expected to be more, but $56k for a wedding seems pretty reasonable to me.

My brother did the full catholic thing with country club reception and all that jazz in the 90s and that was just about as much as this in old-timey dollars
I am absurdly jealous of not only how beautiful these pics are but how rich they are to be able to afford it.
Some people are also blessed with generous and successful parents or other relatives, that usually helps. And if one or both of them made good career/personal choices, even more. You know, $55k isn't what it used to be, and I've seen a lot less wedding for a lot more money. To OP, these are beautiful memories.

There’s a slide with the price of each category
Wow actually surprised at prices I expected WAY higher.
Yeah, honestly, it wasn’t as much as I remember it being. I thought I remember thinking it was about $80k minimum just to be at Disney (not mentioning clothes/etc)
The next slide has numbers.
I just added the numbers off of her budget chart and it came out to $51,602. The Disney stuff themselves make up a little over half the total amount, so like $25k+.
What time did you have the wedding at? I’ve seen some crazy early ones
Our wedding was actually at 5pm! The in park pictures started at 5:30am 😅
So did you go to bed and then get all ready again for the photos ?
Yes, went to bed around 11:30 and woke up at 1:45! I definitely think we could’ve just stayed up all night and not had to do hair and makeup again
Did you party all night and then redo your hair and make up for the pics?
$55k...Jesus Christ
It’s less than I expected. Guest count only 20, so on the pricier side, but I’m not shocked at how much weddings cost. My sister’s was 40k overseas for 100 guests in a cheaper country where it would’ve been 120k in the states.

For a wedding in Southern California? Have you seen the cost of anything here? That’s average
Third photo is lovely. Congratulations.
Thank you!
Holy shit. That third photo is PERFECT. The framing. The flowers. The lighting. The grizzly peaking out (but otherwise you could be anywhere else). And of course you two! It's so good.
Thank you so much!!
It's a bear 😉 but I agree with your sentiments 100%-- beautiful photos of a lovely couple!

According to google it starts at $15k, that’s a bargain for a wedding in California. You did good if you spent under $30k for a wedding in So Cal.
Looks great!
Amazing pics!
I'm crying at my desk at work to these.
Beautiful! I love Grizzly Peak photobombing you—super cute!
