Dm here. Any

Sylthsaber

Oof. Sorry man. I hope you get the opportunity to play a character without having to worry about running the game.

BroPeep

I've recently started DMing - while I had some experience as a player before, I feel this. :/ One of my favorite things to do as a DM, however, is create full character sheets for some of the *major* NPCs in the game. It's not quite as fulfilling as playing those out as a player, but it at least gives me the fix I need.

fendermallot

Yeah, I have a character I played for years that is "retired in Neverwinter" and owns the largest brewery on the sword coast. His ale is known from Calimshan to ten-towns. I may be bringing him in soon.

BroPeep

Oh NICE - I love this because I had an idea for an alchemist artificer who was part of the Moonfall Brewery family in Neverwinter. All of his spells/alchemy are just flavored as brews lol

fendermallot

Norim Stumpfighter of Clan Stumpfighter. Paladin of Clangeddin Silverbeard in service to his king Banak Brawnanvil of Gauntlgrym Owner of Stumpfighter's Fine Ales. Renouned for the thick, rich nutty ales that are brewed on the northern sword coast. He is also the sole provider of Dwarven holy water (mead) to all of the temples of the Morndinsamman west of The Sea of Falling Stars.

Auburnsx

DM here also. I feel your pain.

Xavius_Night

Also a DM here. Same.

RASPUTIN-4

Psilas, your typical charming Rogue who’s really a Plasmoid walking around in a leather suit enhanced with disguise self.

Sylthsaber

Oooooo that sounds fun. He'd have to watch where he sleeps too cause don't plasmoids revert form when they sleep? Would make for some really interesting RP.

RASPUTIN-4

He’s unusually picky about his privacy. Asking for his own room when possible and packing a personal tent when not.

WearyTraveller86

Zirtha- an Aberrant Mind sorcerer who’s natural abilities led to her being trained as a courtier and spy for her city’s diplomatic corps. She’s now undercover and traveling with a group of adventures in order to gather intelligence regarding possible new dangers to her home.

Sylthsaber

Ooo that's fun, so would she be like, investigating the party to make sure thwy aren't threats to the kingdom?

WearyTraveller86

At first, then she’d try to use the party to help eliminate other threats to the kingdom

Do_Ya_Like_Jazz

Sam Albric, a Wyrmlock and accidental cult leader

[deleted]

Ooh, Wyrmlock? What's that? A homebrew Wyrm patron?

Do_Ya_Like_Jazz

Yup! It focuses on battle control and buffs. It lets you create an aura and gain abilities like healing everyone in your aura, giving advantage or disadvantage, and spamming Command

Sylthsaber

Interesting. How did he become a cult leader?

Do_Ya_Like_Jazz

He found the ancient carcass of a god and drank some of its blood, which gave him unholy powers. As he wandered around the world performing small miracles, word spread and one day he realized that those people following him around were cultists.

JackBoxcarBear

Mazul and Kaynor. Two brothers born with an unbreakable bond. Mazul was a scholar, adoring the arcane arts and nature. Kaynor was a soldier, preferring feats of athletics and martial prowess. Regardless of taste though, the bond between the brothers was inseparable. Having lost their parents at a young age to tragically natural causes, they raised themselves together into adulthood. From street rat to citizen. That was until a fateful day occurred. Kaynor became deathly ill from a wound sustained while protecting another in combat, and it appeared fatal. Mazul, always the anxious one between then, tried everything. Transmutation, abjuration, restoration.. All schools of magic from every book and every scroll available to him but alas it wasn’t enough. Even in death, Kaynor looked proudly upon his brother and spoke of how glad he was to die a soldiers death at his side. He died in peace. However, in that moment something ever so slightly snapped in Mazul as the realization swelled up in his head. A world without his brother had captured him, had dragged him screaming and crying from the world he once knew. A sick world, without his brothers confidence and guidance, he’d be lost. He hid his face from the still pale gaze of his deceased kin, and muttered a deep apology as the weight of the decision he was about to make pushed down on his very soul. Mazul went to retrieve the necromatic tomes he had been hiding away. They say Mazul still roams the world clutching the hand of Kaynor, the revered soldier now a groaning shambling husk. Mazul promises that one day he’ll learn the secrets to true resurrection, but for now this putrid form would have to do. The world took his brother, after all. *He’s just taking him back.*

Sylthsaber

That sounds really cool. Not to mention the rp opportunities.

OdinsRevenge

A human artificer whose soul got trapped in a warforged during an experiment. He used to be the son of a noble house but after his houses fall he became a criminal alchemist that worked for an underground crime syndicate. He was supposed to find a way to create unfailable potions of longevity. During one of his experiments he killed himself and his daughter. And now wants to get his original body back and revive his child.

Serbaayuu

Zinnia, the Seedbearer, who had her heart cleaved from her body by her tribe's patron tree and replaced with its seed: raised from birth to be the chosen Bearer, she must collect magical power and many experiences to allow the seed to germinate and grow before settling down to die in the place where the new tree will be born. and Zakuro, the man who saw the full moon descend and ask him to **go find its name**; he has been running from it ever since. A downtrodden youth turned distinguished brain surgeon, he is not even sure these demands and misfortunes he keeps receiving are real.

Sylthsaber

Those sound really cool! Do you have classes in mind or are they more "this character could be whatever class the psrty needs?"

Serbaayuu

Zinnia is a Fey Warlock and Zakuro is a GOO Warlock (or maybe celestial; haven't fully decided if that'd be a better fit).

Sylthsaber

That sounds awesome!

BoonDragoon

Justice "Juice" Clementine, variant human fighter. Folk Hero background, Archery fighting style, Battlemaster, Resilient feat (Dexterity) "The best dam' shot in the whole river bottom and don't you forget!" The son of a cobbler, Juice became a local legend when he killed the varmint plaguing the village henhouse - a cockatrice out of the mountains - with a shot through the eye in pitch darkness. Since then he's maintained his reputation for trick shots and "unwavery" accuracy at county archery competitions. When a call to adventure pushes him out the door and into a wider world, he finds himself a big fish in a little pond no longer. Armed with his trusty longbow and his wits, his mission is to prove to the world what he already knows: ain't nobody handled a bow better'n him.

Sylthsaber

Sounds like he really knows how to give his shots that extra *punch* ;)

goopgirl

Grigori

Sylthsaber

Does Grigori have a class or anything yet? Or do you just like the name :)

goopgirl

I got inspiration for this character from Dragon's Dogma, so he's just straight up named after the dragon. He was once a foolish human paladin who challeneged a powerful red dragon. When he lost the battle, instead of killing him, the dragon cursed him and told him to come back when he was stronger for another go. When Grigori woke up outside the dragon's territory, he had been transformed into a dragonborn and lost his connection to his god, and all his powers as a paladin were lost as well. In their place he only found bloodlust and battle rage. Mechanically he would start off at level 1 as a red dragonborn barbarian, taking the path of the beast. When he rages it's flavored as him becoming more dragonlike. Two of my DMs allow players to have like one extra special ability or item, so I would ask for like a little 1d6 breath weapon. His story would be him training to take on the dragon again and break the curse, and also trying desperately to reconnect with his god and overcome his new draconic nature so he can return to his order.

[deleted]

I really LOVE the curse idea. I hope you'll have fun when you get to play him!

Sylthsaber

That sounds really interesting! What system were you playing in? Cause I thought in 5E Dragonborns had a breath weapon.

goopgirl

o shit you're right. nice.

[deleted]

Oh but you could still ask for a lesser breath weapon that could be used at will rather than once per rest. One target, 10 feet, 1d6 damage sounds weak enough that I'd grant it to my players for free lol

Aspirio42152

A cleric/ warlock that burns himself on is own corrupted holy fire

Sylthsaber

That's interesting. Why do they burn themselves? Are they undead?

Aspirio42152

I though of he could be a strong cleric who's god eventually devolved into a patron so all the divine magic he is used to is now twisted with unstable purple elderich energy

KelarionPrime

It's not D&D, but I have a Goblin paladin named Blimulk for the Cypher system. Got his armor from another goblin he had to kill, and got his weapon and shield from a guardsman he looked up to that died.

Sylthsaber

I've never heard of the system before. Do Paladins still have a god in it?

KelarionPrime

No. In the Cypher, it kinda depends on the DM, but the world I've been playing in doesn't have gods and is set in a nearly post apocalyptic fantasy world trying to rebuild. The paladins and clerics and running on faith alone, that faith being in whatever is strong enough to grant them that power. The system itself is based on a "I am a X Type and does Y" Character creation, so in my character's case it's "Bilmulk is a Goblin Explorer and is blessed by the Gods". That sets up up his stats and skills as a new character. For Bilmulk, he saw his entire clan corrupted and used as a weapon against the nearby human settlement, and so vowed not to let that happen to anyone else again. That is the basis of his powers of protection.

Sylthsaber

That's a really interesting system. Sounds like fun :)

Sylthsaber

Big bulky bro beating bastards blind barehanded. I like it.

thefool___

Atlan Donke He’s a tall archery warlock who was saved by his patron from a orc invasion of his village and fell in love with her while recovering in the Feywild. Has a sentient purple overcoat with designs of moons and.skulls and other tarot-inspired symbolism on the back with matching tattoos on his shoulders and back. Heavy focus on enchantment magic and charming.

SoloSolidarity

There's 2 for me: Corbin Granitegrin, the Mountain Dwarf Battle Smith Artificer. Noble birth, but in love with a gnome of lesser class. Her tinkering and love has taught him to grow beyond just being a dwarf stone cutter... Semloh Kcolrehs, the Ghostwise Gnome Inquisitive Rouge. The Sheerluck Gnome investigator has never heard a mystery he could resist.

I-Wanna-See-Meme

Zhark the Bugbear Ranger with the background of Fisher and I plan to immediately multiclass into rogue until lvl 4 in rogue. Zhark’s Great Great Great Great Grandfather was the best Fisher in the Southern Hemisphere and his sons all became legendary fishers. Zhark’s brother inherited the legal rights to the fishing company and ship so zhark decided to become his brothers first mate on the ship. However, a kraken swore to get revenge on zhark’s Great Ancestors for stealing part of a Krakens treasure and nearly killing it. So after a few decades of sailing under his brother a the kraken that Zhark’s ancestors had wronged returned to deliver the revenge it promised. Destroying the ship sinking it, along with the the krakens stolen treasure and Zhark’s lucky fishing rod. After waking up on the shore he roamed the continent in search of a group of adventurers who just might be able to help defeat the kraken.

rellloe

A subversion of the edgy rogue character. Trauma conga line of a backstory, constantly upbeat person. And because they are a backup character so they can be more easily tied to the party, gets hyperfocused when it comes to mysteries.

Draxars

I am currently working on a Homebrew class that dualwield shields in both offense and defense. I called it " The Shieldbearer " and they'll come with 2 subclass : Path of the destroyer " and " Path of the protector ". I am also making fitting homebrew feats for it. They're going to be a mix of warrior and tank and scale mostly with constitution. Also, I added a hint of smithing as their order is very strict on " selfimprovement ". Took inspiration from my longlasting fantasy of dualwielding shields and some MOD in DOS2 ! I will be soon testing it in a friend's oneshot ! So hyped ! Edit : The character himself is still in the works.

KorgiKingofOne

Now that fairies are official, I want to ply a fairy cavalier fighter who’s steed is a corgi who are an unstoppable duo in combat, but outside of it they are a very dysfunctional pair who always argue and bicker. Usually results in the corgi grappling my character and rolling like a crocodile. My PC will prefer cats

NedShireen

Lawful Evil Duergar Wizard... been good too long. Also, I stole the idea from a comment in another post, but I love the idea of not having a spell book. He will instead engrave his spells onto various rings he wears, reading them at night with a jewelers eye.

ICT00

Been wanting to play a Mastermind Rogue. I may end up getting that chance whenever my group starts up the Curse of Strahd campaign.

seldkam

A paladin dip shadow Sorcerer who has taken an oath of vengeance against the creature that gave him his shadow lineage due to never asking for his strange powers.

klasyer

I have a concept in my head for a while now which I just don't get to play. It's a echo knight/war cleric with great weapon fighting

[deleted]

A Monk Named Slickback. An open hand Grung monk with the poisoner feat. Back hands for everyone

Sylthsaber

Yea! Poisonous bitchslaps for everyone

[deleted]

Even while moving 50ft every round it looks so effortless. Like ice skating on the way to backhand any disrespect. Andre 3000 x snoop. Its gone be great.

IMentionMyDick2Much

Dope Heichemides He is a wizard monk multiclass. Backstory is that as a young child raised in a well off family he gained a certain arrogance and lust for using power. This lead him inevitably to the study of wizardry and after years of intense study under the best mages money could buy he became a formidable wizard. He then took to travelling the land unleashing his magical on unsuspecting passerby and being an outright ass. Until he came across a monastery of monks these powerful martial artists dodged his spells overcame their effects and committed superhuman feats to defeat him. Once bound and defeated they brought him to an elder who sealed away his magics and advised him he would never again be able to access the arcane again until he learned of inner peace. Since when each time he tried to cast a spell his mind would become unfocused and confused, his thoughts would race and it would be as if his own thoughts were shouting in his head. So he abandoned his travels and stayed at the monastery learning the ways of the monks and seeking inner peace, over time he became one of them and eventually learned to still his mind and can once again cast spells. And yes, he is a muscle/enhancement based chronurgy wizard/open hand monk. Gonna be fun to use spells like mirror image and fire shield that have long durations and non concentration, while also using spells like haste or spirit shroud, etc.. Spirit shroud plus flurry of blows is hilariously broken for the damage it deals. Like yeah gonna upcast this at 5th level and then watch as each flurry of blows punch hits for 1d6 + 2d8 + modifiers. So each turn after casting you can dish out 4d6 + 8d8 +4x Mod.

Helpful-Field5118

A Tabaxi swashbuckler. Who claims to Be a famous pirate but has a dark secret of being terrified of water/the open sea . All his adventures are made up or altered to fit his pirate narrative.

mememuseum

I've got an idea for a dwarven artificer who mines asbestos to make and sell flameproof clothing and gear to adventurers.

TowelNo3250

My warforged fighter with 2 levels of wizard. He is a full chonky boy that hits like a trash truck. He is in my back pocket just incase my Ahole assassin gets into a bad situation.

blackninjakitty

An air genasi who was born from a ritual amongst a sect of the cult of Akadi. I forget the whole backstory but iirc she was thought to be a divine blessing and was raised with a lot of reverence and love but they realized as she got older there was something else in her ancestry. The cult values freedom and encourages wanderlust, so she left to wander the realm. She was meant to be cheerful and fun and a go with the flow type. Storm sorcerer/tempest cleric, super satisfying even though I only got to level 3 I think. I built her for a CoS campaign after one of the other players decided to take my original class choice and then changed their mind. Then there wasn’t a good chemistry among PCs and the GM decided he didn’t enjoy running premade modules so I took over but ended up stopping that campaign an starting a new one. Now she’s just in my D&D beyond waiting for another game

VelociRexSaurus

Ardyn Almasi (yes Final Fantasy inspired) hexblade warlock with 2 starting levels of fighter because my dm let us start at lvl 3. A noble child with 3 siblings and his parents he is the only one with purplish hair and no talent for the arcane whatsoever. Set out to the world to prove he can be powerful and learn magic in his own way. When one day he got drawn to a kopis in the desert with a chain attached. Being promised knowledge and magic to enhance his combat abilities and gain power he took up the kopis and now tries to become more powerful while helping the world a little at a time. Little does he know that the kopis is a gateway to let the chained oblivion in his mind and corrupt him little by little. Thought out as a lawful good character who will try hard to not become insane and evil. Made possible by my dm but I am Still the only original PC in the party. I don't want my PC to die but boy I can't wait to play him. (sorry long post)

linkthespider

Slime Barbarian

opsurlyboi

Yc, a goblin rogue that’s also like a party pet. He carries around his unusually large basket wherever he goes, but carries nothing in it. This has earned himself the nickname of the “Basket Goblin” for how connected he is with said basket.

thesullier

A Duergar fighter/rogue based on Riddick from Pitch Black, hoping to finally find something worse than himself...and stab it in the face.

stephendominick

A fey pact warlock who after waking from a night of revelry learns he had a one night stand with a powerful fey that is now his patron and has a tendency to behave like a jealous, possessive girlfriend.

PM_violets

Oh that’s a cool idea, thx! I was thinking they’d sell mostly low-priced clutter and an interesting artefact now and again, so that’d be a big deal if it got stolen

BroPeep

Felix. He's a lawful neutral gnomish enchantment wizard. He grew up on the streets and was employed by assassins to spy on their targets, due to how small and unnoticeable he was, and his natural deceptive talents. Eventually, Felix picked up minor enchantment abilities from one of the assassins that employed him - a la Charm Person - and this blossomed into a love for enchantment in general. At the start, Felix would use this enchantment magic to keep himself out of sticky situations whenever he was caught, or to make himself appear more harmless than he really was. However, Felix's natural desire for control, combined with his ability to use control to make ends meet, has molded into an OBSESSION for control of others. Felix doesn't just enchant to save his skin or make money from his assassin employers - he uses enchantment for *fun.* Will Felix dive deeper into obsessive mind control, or will he only use his growing enchantment powers for the greater good?

[deleted]

I made a tortle sorcerer. I’m really trying hard not to just send my current PC into a 1 v 1 with a dragon.

Raddatatta

There's a character I'm loosely working on for my next campaign who is an archfey warlock. And spent a year in the feywild before returning and ended up skipping a few hundred years ahead with the way the feywild works! Have some ideas about him having met up with his descendants and still figuring out what that dynamic will be but I like the idea!

[deleted]

Centaur barbarian

tinySparkOf_Chaos

This is actually inspired by trying to find a solution to someone's problem on a Reddit post. A wizard that is going out adventuring with the sole goal of acquiring several thousand immovable rods. His goal being to build himself a floating palace using a bed of removable rods to hold it up in place. Once he acquires at least one rod, he is going to use it to sleep in a hammock above the camp each night.

tontokowalskie

Norric, the halfling wildfire druid. In his youth as a young druid just learning to control his spells he set the forest on fire, destroying much of it and it's inhabitants. To atone for his mistakes, he protects the wilds from more disasters like the one he caused.

arie700

Leland, a Scottish-based barbarian who fights with a claymore. I dunno, I feel like I haven’t given barbs much of a fair shake historically, and what better way to do that than with a fashionable kilt and an unreasonably large sword?

Duadua200

Gnome Artificer. Seems like an interesting idea, almost like a tinkerer of the deep.

tarkin96

A bard named Savini Manfredini who was a former member of an actor's guild full of murderers.

Lloydwrites

I have a couple of concepts in mind. One is a no-aggro wizard. In the 3e era, wizards are better buffers than clerics. You turn invisible, cast bull's strength, enlarge, haste, etc. and never attack the bad guys at all. In combat, use illusions as crowd control. At a certain level, you never become visible at all. The party doesn't even need to know you're there. You just make them all better. The DM sees no reason to focus on your character because he's not an immediate threat. You never inflict a hit point of damage and might never take one, except from falls and area-of-effect attacks.

ukebas

Urban Fantasy campaign, bronze-skinned surfer bro. He's an EK Fighter who uses a trident and casts spells/cantrips off of tattoos he got whole drunk.

Dismal-Astronaut-894

I’ve got this really cool metallurgy subclass for a wizard that I’ve been dying to play as a character, my only problem is that he’d be too similiar to my last character and I don’t want to just play my last guy but worse

A_Happy_Heretic

Kinda want to play a gnome artificer whose life's mission is to build a mech suit and pilot it into battle, but when he's done and shows everyone, it's only 6 ft tall, making him functionally the same height as most other humanoids.

giant_spleen_eater

A crust/folk punk bard aarakocra. He's gonna be based off of a pigeon and play the washboard. I laugh every single time I think of this idea, he's gonna follow the traditional "fuck the government" idea, and sing terribly.

RajaNagaSoz

Never settled on a name, but i want to play a yet-unnamed skiddish Kobold Warlock, who happened upon a patron that is actually an imprisoned old god that has almost forgotten itself, and isn't necessarily evil, but is distant and not understandable by the kobold. The patron god finally has something to connect to after millennia of lonely solitude, and desperately doesn't want to lose the connection with *something*, while also the kobold can't figure out what it's patron is, and is driven to try to find out, but is also very afraid of it the more he researches from stories of other warlocks. Basically, two scared idiots, who can't communicate well, trying to figure each other out behind the scenes of whatever else is going on, while also being afraid of each other in some fashion.

DrAwesomeMDMD

Orc monk who thinks he is a wizard of “punch magic”

CodeWaifu

I built a witch hunter inspired by the witch hunters of WH Fantasy. Have a whole religion built for them; God, cult, holy book and excerpts from that book, so on. I can't wait to break him out

uF_Wraith

Next campaign I am getting to play a Bladesinger Wizard that I’ve been thinking about for a while. Always loved the martial and full magic mix. I also work with my DM who is going to allow me to wield a double bladed scimitar with Bladesong even though it’s a two handed weapon cause I really like that weapon concept.

Kurazarrh

3.5e player here. I have a particular bard build I want to play that can be either a devastating assassin or join the fighters on the front line (the build does both, no need to choose!). I don't have a name for her yet, but the vague persona I have is that she was enslaved and trained specifically to be an assassin for [insert guild/country/cabal here], but also trained as a minstrel as her cover identity. I'm imagining her personality when in "assassin" mode as deadly serious, able to make fast executive (or execution!) decisions, and confident in her abilities. She puts on a facade of a meek songstress who's "really not that good," in her own words as a bard. In reality, since she's so divorced from regular society, in moments where she gets to be herself, she will probably skew toward that latter trait. The build itself is relatively straightforward: 18 levels of bard with 2 levels of shadowdancer thrown in (for HiPS and Evasion). She's kind of a paper tiger from a hit point and AC perspective but shores up her physical defense with spells like Mirror Image and Blink, and by engaging mostly in hit-and-run tactics. Damage output is... stupid for a bard. Decent Str plus Power Attack to start, plus the attack/damage bonuses from Inspire Courage (which are pumped up with Inspirational Boost). The attack penalty from Power Attack is offset with Snowflake Wardance. The goal is to eventually get a Crystal Echoblade, which adds in [1/2 bard level] of sonic damage to all attacks made while using bardic music. Add the Gauntlets of Heartfelt Blows for additional fire damage equal to Charisma bonus, and she's on the way to something like 1d8+13+4(sonic)+5(fire) before any weapon enchantments, by level 10. Add some other buffs and debuffs in there, and while she's not out-damaging a dedicated fighter or paladin, she's scary enough in her own right.

Independent-Ninja-65

Mine is Ogrim a half orc Totem barbarian who had started to become a renowned and ferocious fighter even amongst his particularly bloody tribe. During an ambush by a bigger rival clan he is injured and left for dead. He stumbles to a shrine to the Wildmother and begins to rest. While recuperating bandits come to desecrate the shrine and despite not being fully recovered he flies into a rage and fends them off. As a reward for his service the Wildmother helps Ogrim heal and takes her in as her champion. He then begins to follow the path of an Oath of the Ancients paladin. Fighting normally using his gifts from the deity but when the need arises he draws on his natural barbarian talents.

Sylthsaber

That sounds really awesome! Sounds like he would need to start at level 5-7 though.

Independent-Ninja-65

It works into the campaign that I'm about to play him in so it kind of works. I explained what I wanted to play and he said that the levels and settling should fit what I'm doing so I'm gonna take it for a whirl. Genuinely can't wait to play him. The other is a Hexblade battlemaster. Again it plays into the other campaign I'm about to be a part of.

RetiredTxCoastie

Sylthsaber

He sounds neat! What is his class and stuff?

RetiredTxCoastie

Class doesn't matter, only his over confidence.

Idk I think with a name like that he could be anything. Unless there is something implied by the name that I am missing.

Ah. Well that sounds like a very fun character concept. Could get into all kinds of shinanigans.

Sylthsaber

Oups i replied to the wiki bot lol. Ah. Well that sounds like a very fun character concept. Could get into all kinds of shinanigans.

DeathBySuplex

Oh he'd be great, but he'd HAVE to be a Barbarian

Sylthsaber

I'll start :) Erik Marins son, Prince of the Sealie Court, Half elf, Pact of the Fey Warlock who is married to his patron. Erik is a farmer who grew up in a small village. He was living on his Brothers farm when his Brother became extremely sick. After exhausting every option an old wise woman passed through the town. Erik begged her to come try and help his brother. After seeing the sick brother's condition and looking over the rest of the family (including one of Eriks nephews) she agreed to help, for a price. Before even hearing what it was Erik blurted out "Anything! I'll give you whatever i can just heal him!" And she responded "Agreed" With that word there was a flash of light and the old woman transformed into the most beautiful woman Erik had ever seen. She healed his Brother and then once again looked over that same Nephew. This nephew looks so much like Erik even people in the village suspected Erik is his real father. She turned back to Erik and said "For payment. I'll have your first born son." Erik, who has no children, turned beet red and replied "Well we should probably be married first." After they were married she brought him to her home in the feywild where they had a month long honeymoon. Once that was over she sent him back to the material plane with some of her power and orders that he wasn't allowed back until he could manage to get there himself.

Sylthsaber

Ah. So what were you thinking to translate her to DnD? Monk? She uses knives doesn't she? Hasted rogue?

Skrungus69

I had a really cool kensai multiclass character with a fun backstory about how he was imprisoned in a laboratory and how he escaped. Sadly the dm literally killed himself so idk if ill ever get to play him again.

Sylthsaber

Damn that sucks, I'm sorry man.

Skrungus69

Ah dont worry about it ive done my therapy on it.

Sylthsaber

Well gimi more details about this character of yours. What's their fun backstory :)

Skrungus69

Well the idea was they were kidnapped as a child and experimented on in this laboratory. They made pretty close friends with some of the other prisoners and eventually staged an escape. Because of the experimentation they have some weird mutations which i was going to hash out with the dm. The reason for being kensai is because they wouldnt have had much to work with in the prison.

Sylthsaber

That sounds really cool! Hopefully you get another chance to play him.

the_bull1737

Claude Helmfast As a very young boy (during that stage of life where memories just dont get retained) his parents were tricked into giving him to an old hag who lived in the feywilds. As he grew she led him to believe that she was a diety and that he should worship her, but she also became fond and loving of him. She trained him in marital prowess and gave to him some of her magical power, and through his beliefs he became a paladin. My outline for this character is oath of glory paladin+ hexlock, and that his whole thing is that he THINKS his hag "mother/diety" is granting him Paladin status, but that she is actually a patron for warlock purposes. The levels of paladin he will have will come purely from his will to BELIEVE that he is a paladin.

(unnamed) 1/2 orc bard. He doesn't know who his parents are, and doesn't care. The orc tribe is all that he knows, and while they never accepted him fully, they gave him the job of drumming and chanting during ceremonies and battles. During a recent raid he heard something he'd never heard before, a song. Under the cover of night he snuck close to the sound and watched a group of humans singing about joy, love, and freedom. He was enraptured, so much so that he was missing when the killing began. He watched in horror as the singers were cut down by his brethren. Now he's run away, desperate to find more of that magical music he found. He still has his chanting/drumming skills, and prefers those to talking. The entire world is new to him, and he's prettysure he's inadequate for the challenge, but his quest gives him courage.

ItsPandy

Wither Verdan or Samuel. Verdan is still a concept but I'm already loving it. It would be a centaur scout, a warden of the forest kind of character. Samuel is a little more fleshed out. He is a 17 year old artificer/alchemist human. He started as a urchin in a big town where he and some of the other kids where often used by the thieves guild or other people that didn't want to get their hands dirty for some jobs. To keep it short one day they got into a fight with the local alchemist and samuel breaks into his home to steal his notes and some ingredients which started his own career as an alchemist but also made him flee town because someone saw him during the break in. The reason I'm looking forward to samuel is because he is the backup for a current campaign where our party is absolutely stupid. I'm talking 12 as highest int stupid and most people below a 10. so it's funny to me that this 17 year old child with an int of 18 just shows up and starts traveling with this group of idiots.

SunngodJaxon

Red the Brutal. A Minotaur barbarian gladiator themed after the song 99 Red Balloons by Nena.

TheEdgyOne1218

RestlessGnoll

DM here, a player is going to run an in cannon short adventure where I will be playing an NPC the party has slighted, unbeknownst to all bar the player DM. he'll be doing the quest to get information on who destroyed his livelyhood, with the reveal of one of the other players main campaign PCs if we succeed. His name was Oarus Masthew (a town speaker from rime of the frost maiden which I'm running) he was a paladin of Hoar now due to the tragedy dealt to him he has accepted a dark power. He will be wearing a visored helm of most of the time and go by the name of Wrath.

HighLordTherix

Vendris Elenos. Vigilante Princess with an assassin bodyguard. (Nothing to do with Sevelyn or Lucky) Historia, Aasimar Summoner mechanically, narratively an angel who died and was reincarnated and taps into her former power. Has visual aesthetic vibes of Asura from Asura's Wrath. Sevelyn Corwin, daughter of a Faerie Queen, mesmerist. Hannah Kallesti, Goliath theurge wizard who learned a lot of her magic by observing many, many Wizards but hasn't actually worked in a role that uses her brain so doesn't realise how much she's learned yet. Lucky Corwin, this time a granddaughter of the queen, socially anxious rogue/Artificer trying to stop a blood plague. Lady Loves, Artificer rogueish socialite that's accidentally quite a lot Iron Man.

[deleted]

Sir Onion of Tuber. A paladin with a gold heart, courageous, wise, charismatic, but with an intelligence of 3.

HybridEqualist

Two words: Eldritch Druid

Socratic_rooster

Vadalta Zangorio, Tiefling bard of eloquence Look, I know looking at me, devil tail and horns and all, that I appear as the perfect example of a bad guy. I am however not a bad guy! Not at all! I'm a perfect gentlemen and expert flute player, and I have a plethora of wonderful stories! Now it's not my fault that I get run out of town so often, truly it is a huge misunderstanding. How am I supposed to know all these gorgeous noblewomen have husband's! I hate to claim ignorance, but truly how could I have known? These noble women love the finer things in life, and I am one of the finest. And so what if I take some of there belongings as I make my exit? The way I see it, and I'm sure you'd agree with me, is that I provide a service to these ladies, a full service that takes alot of my time and effort. Shouldn't I receive proper remuneration for my skills? Shouldn't I be paid for my labour? The husband's never seem to think so....

Hollowed-Be-Thy-Name

Booyahg Durbuluk Vaws-hak: an adorable child goblin who essentially bugged a millenia old lich into becoming his apprentice. He carries around a coloring book as a spell book, that can only be read by casting mold earth on the pages, as bits of sand are mixed in with the paint. He carries around paintbrushes that he uses as his wand, as well as a human-sized staff. His familiar is an evil, fluffy Raven named Netherlore. The rest of the backstory is over 11 pages single spaced, so I don't think I can fit most of it into a comment.

jakebreakshow

Walk-in Talking Stephen Rogers. She's a Bugbear Bard.

ZachalesTerchron

Actually finally getting to play a character I've wanted for some time, as someone that typically plays strategic full casters I'm getting a chance to play something quite different. So we are playing 3.5 and I will be playing Rinkkgin the Red Cloak a red half dragon warblade. Born in the fey wild to a powerful red dragon attempting to breed servants that are both powerful and under his control, the dragon kidnapped mortals for his schemes. One however was a dragon blood sorcerer, after the child Rinkkgin was born she managed to plane shift him away from the clutches of the dragon Alone and relying on the savagery of him draconic blood he kept himself alive in the early years on the prime material. Later learning the ways of the blade he moves from town to town finding jobs, gold, and wherever other fun he can russell up. Not evil like his father but his chaotic nature will likely lead him to be the kinda guy that will poke the bear and push the shiny buttons Ultimately I've been playing a cautious wizard for the last few years and I'm stoked to play the savage reckless warrior

Galihan

A tiefling fighter whose goal is to establish a fighting academy that studies combat techniques and tactics based off of different types of devils. An excuse for a fighter to try out as many different weapons and tactics as possible instead of just settling for an optimal build.

Thri-Kreen arcane trickster. Kind of like a stereotypical desert swordsman with dual wielding scimitars, and he holds throwing knives and his spellcasting focus with his secondary arms. It’s an orb of black glass carved from the crater of a meteorite that hit the desert and burned the sands to glass. Imagine Saruman’s Palantir from LotR. He uses illusion spells similar to the ones found on the variant Thri-Kreen psion statblock in the MM. I just think that Thri-Kreen are cool. They’re psychic desert-dwelling insectoid people. What’s not to love? I’ve made my own homebrew version of a Thri-Kreen player race before the UA came out and now I’m even more excited to get to play this character. I might actually get to play it soon, but the guy who was going to start as the DM for the game is spending some time with his wife and first newborn child, so it might be a while.

KingSlender8877

I've just started playing a Pala-monk. I'm not making him to be perfectly optimized. He's a super flavorful character. Right now his 5lvls Paladin, 4 Monk (going to go full throttle on Monk here on out). Reason I went 5 Paladin instead of just 3 was for 2nd level spells (im using spell points instead of spell slots, so he has 12sp right now for smites and concentration spells). He was born a noble who was enamored by the sword at a very young age and wanted to master it (Kensei Monk). And when he became of age, he was promised to another noble girl. To impress her and fulfil his duty as a noble of the realm, he began to take knightly training to show strong posture in the eyes of other nobles (Paladin). But circumstances in the kingdom caused all old treaties to be void and she eloped with someone else. He was devastated and emotionally crippled by the slight. After months of wallowing and the kingdom slowly dwindling into madness, his father approached him and told him to get out and make something of himself and be the hero the country needs (Glory Paladin)! So he undertook a personal quest to travel to a neighboring nation to try to increase diplomatic relations. So he joined the current party (work became too overbearing for me and I could dm anymore, so a buddy took over for me) with the hopes to adventure and become a champion of the people.

hydreaus

i have a couple in the works, but the ones i'm most excited about are these: 1. A Fire Giant who got cursed to be small as penance for being a tyrant. (Duregar Rune knight) 2. A neurotic trash panda that just lives off of other people's garbage. (wildhunt shifter spore druid)

Unlikely_Bet6139

An engineer-turned-adventurer, practicioner of my completely homebrew class, the Way of the Immovable Rod.

EmperorPaulpatine93

Light cleric devoted to the sun god in hopes he'll find a way to undo his lycanthropy (using the Grim Hollow rules)

PartyChocobo

Mae Rei, the Tiefling Conquest Paladin and Phoenix Sorcerer She is going to be the most accidently threatening Conquest Paladin ever. She comes from a family of paladins and wants to carry on her family's legacy and even expand on it by leading her own troop on the island she lives on so she can help people. Her current quest however is to find and crush the cult that killed her father and left her for dead one day when they were training (her survival plays into the Phoenix subclass). His final words to her were as he lay dying were "don't be sad, a smile suits your face so much better." She carried those words to heart and tries to smile through the happy, sad and everything in between. However the closer she gets to her goal, the more sinister her smile looks to those around her. I know the backstory sounds more Vengence than Conquest but meh.

Willosmode

Moon druid/monk in my friends wildlight campaign. He's gonna work with me to make a half high elf/half earth genasi race. Tarzan with rough skin that never gets clean, walks on all fours, eats soup with his "bear" hands, etc

aberrantpsyche

Gith druid. I could go into way more detail about their background and origins but I haven't found a group to play in that lasts more than 2 sessions since before the pandemic.

StumpTheMan

A life cleric whose magic is mostly centered around blood
