I also had to explain, in great depth, that dogs have bellybuttons, to a friend who couldn't wrap her head around it.
Pretty much where you'd expect it to be! Mid-tummy. They're not the easiest thing to find on dogs with a thick coat though. I have a yellow lab so her belly hair is fairly sparse.
If you have a boy (never had a female dog but I assume it’ll be similar) it’s a few cm from his tip. Mine bulges out a little so I like to press on it when his belly is up.
He doesn’t react to it at all 😂

Everyone here is laughing but it isn't in a mocking way. I always wonder about the owners who dragged their vet out of bed at like 3am because they couldn't get a tick out only to find they had mutilated their dogs nipple.
So the dirt can get stuck in and around folds of the skin, usually some warm water and gentle wiping with a wet cloth can help open up some of that and get the dirt out. Occasionally you will have to treat it as you would a splinter, and use tweezers to gently pull it out if they will allow it. My dog gets these frequently and imbedded hairs inbetween his paws. It usually doesnt hurt him for me to pull them, but can cause them to lick the area from the itchiness if I leave them. I would say it would be most similar to dealing with blackheads on our skin.
It's a scratched dog nipple! 😂 You can clean it off a little with a cotton pad. Your dog is fine. But... I mean... come on. Your buddys also got a navel, wich can be harder to find.

He ended up developing allergies and his nipples were swollen, quite red and inverted- so having never known what dog nipples look like and them looking a little funny…I made a vet appointment the next day and was freaked tf out 🤣🤣 turns out he just has inverted nipples and his skin was upset about the laundry detergent. Had a good laugh with the vet! I’ve seen ppl ask the same thing about the slits on dogs noses, their ‘lipstick’/‘red rocket’ and even their balls!!

These look exactly like my girl's nipples. Her nippies (I always forget how many) reach all the way down, very close to groin area. She has tags, too, but they look different. Male dogs can / do also have nipples.
People are laughing but to me it looks like they could be mast cell tumours. My dog had these on the stomach, in the “armpit” and around the anus a couple of years ago. They can be cancerous so it’s def best to get them checked out by a vet.
They’ll do some tests and if, like in my dog’s case, the vet finds the tumours to be of low severity/early stage they’ll probably recommend your dog undergo surgery to have them removed.

Just be sure by checking for the other nipples and comparing. In my experience dogs don’t only have one! But it is possible that it is not a nipple—my dog had a small cyst on her leg that looked just like a nipple. It doesn’t hurt to locate some of the other nipples just to be sure :)

Fun fact: I'm colorblind and i can't tell the difference between pink and grey. To me all nipples are ticks and all ticks are nipples, and this is the reason I have a hand drawn map of my dog's nipples placement :)

Belly buttons are just scars from umbilical cords. So if it was attached to a umbilical cord in utero, it’ll have a belly button after it’s born
