At our store, the shift we have the hardest time filling is mid shift (1:30-5:30). I’m not a hiring manager but honestly, I would be hard pressed to hire you. The morning shift is the desired shift so you have competition. However, if your two or three days off are consistent and I could rely on you to work say Tuesday and Wednesday, no problem. But, if your schedule at your main job fluctuates, that is just an unnecessary headache for a manager. As a co-worker, it pissed me off when my schedule would change because Ralph would neglect to tell the manager his main job schedule changed and she would try to accommodate him., which inconvenienced me. Communication is the key. Go to your supervisor on your main job, explain you need day x and y off. so you can have a part time job. That is so much easier on a manager. We had an ASM who did security as his part time job and he had consistent hours, so it was no big deal for her to schedule. Ralph was a pain in the butt. He had no control over his scheduled hours at another retailer and expected DT to work around his schedule at the other retailer. Managers work in the real world, they have a store to run. Make your life easier by having a consistent schedule. I want to get a second job myself but I hesitate because of the constant shift changing. I hope I don’t sound harsh.

You’re reply did help I can say that no matter what I won’t ever be scheduled for earlier than 3pm so I can anything before that and I’ll talk to my manager about having a two days off where I’m not scheduled at all

ANXIOUS-RED

Also if I do work morning shift what are the hours like is it 9am-2pm or what

SiegVicious

It depends on the store and what they need. If they need cashier help, morning shifts are 9 to 2 or something similar. Stocking shifts can range from early morning 5-10 or later shifts of around the 9-2 range. It can also depend on the stores hours, like what time they open, but it will usually be a 5 hour shift

Silbecca

Morning shifts are 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, maybe 1 ish pm depending on how busy the store gets or if the manager forgets to take you out on time.

ANXIOUS-RED

I can do that seems easy and the shifts aren’t too long lol I applied to three dollar trees and I’m going to all of them tomorrow to speak to the managers wish me luck

SiegVicious

When you go in, pay attention to what the store looks like. If it's a complete mess or if it looks organized. A store that's in bad shape says something about management and how the store is run.

Silbecca

Good luck! You got this! ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

leytourmaline

I have to ask, how did you make that emoticon 😭?

Silbecca

Lol It's included on my phone's keyboard

Isaidit4300

You don’t need any luck for $tree. Anyone walking through the door is pretty much hired. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Silbecca

I mostly say luck because someone else might get it before them lol

Silbecca

There's also late morning-afternoon shifts which are 10 AM to 3 PM.

Yes they can work with you just tell them you are only interested for 2 days or so so they'll work with you ,
