I recently reinstalled doom eternal after having it in my steam library for like 3 years with no playtime lol. Just checked and the how to comb your moustache book is still there for me.
I don’t think it’s broken, but the game was pretty close to complete when they added the mustache book. It would make more sense that some versions accidentally got the old texture through all of the updates and ports of the game over the year

That’s odd, I spent precious minutes about a week or two ago looking for the Nuka Cola book easter egg only to find out it was where the Mustache book was on my shelf. Think it may depend on your Fortress or something.
I started checking after Cultist Base. The same thing can be said for the cheat code in the room where you put the crucible in. The jump pad isn’t unlockable until you finish Taras Nabad so it’s likely that the Fortress “changes states” from level to level and one of the things that changes is whether Nuka Cola or How to Comb your Mustache is on the book.
It'd be weird for it to be removed, since it was meant to honor Markiplier's dad, in the same way that another easter egg tributes TotalBiscuit.
But then you had an intentionally timed easter egg like the Doog one before it was patched. It's just an easter egg but it feels weird to create timed stuff in a series like Doom.
