Sure but realistically if they had Trunks the OG lineup would've ditched Tien, Krillin, or Roshi. When Buu fell asleep they would've gone to that leftover human for the last spot
Could have easily just never had Roshi as a contestant. As good as it was to see him do stuff he was on the sidelines for all of DBZ and they could have just kept it the same way for Super

Atleast he did something in the manga with mimicking UI and teaching Goku it's not about brute strength. Goku kept trying to powerup in blue which is the exact opposite of what blue is trying to do. You're supposed to keep as much energy from leaking as possible with blue.

From a writing standpoint, if they wanted to have them both, they would have written an excuse around the humans like Krillin/Tien/Roshi being busy or something.
I'm sure if they didn't have enough people super close to the time limit or they were powerful enough that he couldn't take no for an answer he would have told them.

It doesn’t make sense for them to choose the cold blooded killer Freiza who commits genocides or the weak humans they could have gone to hell recruited the Saiyans and used SUPER SAIYAN GOD RITUAL instead of Frieza they can obtain super saiyan forms the same way Cabba, Kale & Caluifa “learned” them. Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta’s brother(Tarble), Cell jrs would be significantly stronger than the humans with the help of the ritual, training, zenkai boost, time chamber.
