Ouch ouch I feel your pain. Hate when that happens. Ya you just have to quite playing for a while. Because all motivation gets shoot. When that happens. I hope u can get the joy back. As it's a gr8 game.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed. Valheim, Cyberpunk, and now Dragons Dogma. It's so incredibly aggravating. Ive had to fight the surprise chest lich 3 times now because the save bug keeps losing the progress. I'll be trying this from now on.
You don't have to do this. Just go to Xbox home screen and back to the game and it'll be fixed. Happens to me every hour or so tho, it's very annoying.
I am going to try the guide button solution. The inn autosave option doesn't always work. I also think using it might have bugged a quest (The ornate box). I returned yo the fountain, spoke to Sven, completed the mission the went to the inn to save. Got back online this morning, the inn save worked but the quest was telling me to complete the quest. Went back to complete it and Sven isn't there. It looks like it might be a main story quest so could have ramifications if it doesn't resolve.
It happened to me as well with the ornate box. Now it is so frustrating that I want 8 lvl back and have to make all the progress again that I have lost.
Not sure if I’m right here in understanding your issue, so take this with a grain of salt… but the Ornate Box quest requires you to speak to Sven numerous times at the fountain. I believe it’s 3 separate times, 3 different days, all while the sun is up. I figured the quest was bugged when it didn’t finish the first time but it wasn’t. So maybe these two things are unrelated and you’re just having a save issue? I only started having save issues after a Xbox series X crash, well after I had beaten ornate box. Anyways, hope this helped - safe travels and safer save-luck Arisen!
Thanks for your reply. You were exactly right. I had only spoken to him once. He returned to the fountain about 2 to 3 days later and I was able to progress the quest. Thanks heaps!
This happens all the time and it really hamstrings you, you can't really explore too far from a town or inn as it will make finding a tough enemy a potential loss of progress. Which means you can't really progress since all the quests have to go to the far corners of the map meaning one slip up and your whole progress for the entire play session is gone. So I'm dropping this dumpster fire of a game for now until it's patched because it just makes the game too vexing to play or utterly pointless when you find a new enemy that kills you because you have yet to learn about it yet.
been frozen for more than 15 mins after sleeping in home, turned off the game now when i turn game on stuck on black screen with circle nothingh happens for an hour now? any solutions?
I thought I was just uncomfortable with this problem happening in several games. It happened in RE 3 remake, Cyberpunk and now I'm seeing it in DG2. And no one seems to want to solve the root of the problem.
well, if it isn't a problem with the game then i'm going to have a hard time actually playing it. which is super annoying because i've been waiting for so long to play. it wouldn't be as much of an issue if it didn't literally break my xbox and make me restart it. after a while i get the failed to create save data, and it literally breaks every game until i restart the whole console.
Had this exact issue twice. The first time, it cost me my first few hours. The second time, I got lucky because I noticed it earlier (within the first 10 minutes of playing that day)
Returning to home screen or exiting without saving (since it does not allow you to save) does not help. The start up screen does not load, just your gamertag name top right and the loading circle of death.
I have ONLY found that clearing console saved data of your profile helps AFTER you restart your console.
Its SUCH a pain.
I’m continuously saving very 50 meters on fear of this happening consistently.
I never encountered this nuisance on the original
I had this happen a couple times last night. If you are on Xbox you can just go to the Home Screen and then open back up DD2 and it will be fixed.
Fuck, you just saved me the headache of running to an inn after killing my first troll, thank you!
Worked for me thanks
Seriously thank you!
Holy shit. Make this Top comment for this thread everyone needs to know.
Totally worked for me too. Ty
You just saved my game (pun not intended lol). Appreciate it
Learned this trick from Cyberpunk. But it's still a PITA
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I WAS STUCK FOR THE LAST TEN MINUTES AFTER FOLLOWING THAT STUPID BEGGAR FOR A FULL DAY!
Fucking legend. Thanks!
THANK YOU 🙏
Hero.
Thank you so much!
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!
For a game that seems to want players to get lost in it, it surely has the dumbest save management system. One save file per account is wild to me.
You have your long save: rest at an inn You have short saves: manual save or auto save It was the same way in the first game.
That doesn't mean it's good lol
No one complained about it back then
That still doesn’t mean it’s good…and I played it back then as well…
This bug isn’t just limited to Xbox Series S. I’m on X and experiencing the same issue
I'm seeing it on the X as well. Going to the home screen and then back to the game seems to have worked.
Just happened to me and I went from lvl 10 back to 2. Not gonna play for a couple days
Ouch ouch I feel your pain. Hate when that happens. Ya you just have to quite playing for a while. Because all motivation gets shoot. When that happens. I hope u can get the joy back. As it's a gr8 game.

I have this happening to me on the series X too, so not just on the S.

Kept happening to me at one certain spot. To fix it I had to hard reset by Xbox.

Not a problem! I think the quest updates on this particular quest are a little too vague, I’m seeing a lot of people ask this question haha.
Thanks for the tip I've had it happen a few times kinda annoying. I was just quitting as soon as I noticed. So I didn't play for hrs with no saving

You gotta restart your console it sucks iv been having this problem a few times after the auto save gets stuck. 🫠
I just lost about 4 hours of gameplay to this shitty bug
Game save corrupted after 30+ hours of game play. Feels like taking a punch in the beanbags.
Thank you! It’s happened twice to me on the series x. I wonder if quick resume is the culprit
This method isn't working to stop the infinite saving bug. Any other solutions?

Just open the Xbox guide when it happens
Thank you for the tip! I had this problem and your solution of just opening the guide for a few seconds fixed it.
its not just the series s it also happening on the series x been in town now for over 5mins still got the auto save in top right corner.
It’s not just series s issue it happening all the time to me on series x
