I dunno- my dreads are so heavy they create bald spots - when that happens I let the area grow out and it usually sorts itself out. But everyone is different.. maybe worth a shot
It really looks like you’re going bald. I’m really sorry; I know that’s really hard for men to deal with. And a lot of women too deal with very thin hair with bald spots as they age.
I would not listen to the people that say cut it all off. If you want to keep your dreads, keep them. I’ve seen many men rocking dreads with thinning/balding in the back. It’s natural; it’s you; and it doesn’t look as bad as you think. And I’d treat the rest of the hair so you can prevent more balding.
Please go to a dermatologist and not the internet. I had the same thing happen to me, and it was quite traumatic. I ran to the net for whatever remedy I could find. A year later I Broke down and went to the dermatologist. Turns out it was inflammation. Got a prescription and a diet plan. the hair grew back in a month.
Yeah its a tough way to go bald the in the middle only first. I struggle with it. Im in bald limbo as it progresses, either I shave it all off and I look like a Neo Nazi on Jerry Springer, or cut it and it looks like Im in denial as I comb over the spot.
Hey brotha I see you have a bald spot and that’s because your prostate has enlarged and your prostate sends signals to the scap to release hair through the hair follicles! To reduce your enlarged prostate you need a DHT Blocker! DHT is nothing but acid in the body that stops hair growth so you need to buy some Iron Pills, Biotin Pills, DHT Blocker Pills, Elderberry (Tea Is Good) and take 6 of these pills twice a day! An add strawberries, raspberries, kale, dandelion, blue berries, burdock root, and SeaMoss to your diet! Your Bald spot will definitely produce hair! I know because I’m a living proof when my hair started balding now my hair has grown back it’s still growing but doing research it take about 3 months for it to grow back fully I’m on my 3 month 💯! Hope this helps out 💪🏾💯
As long as it ain’t oral versions he will be fine I use a combination of topical minoxidil and RU58841 and I completely stopped my hair loss and reversed it actually have more hair in those problem areas than I did when I was 15
MPB is caused by a testosterone related hormone DHT. Finasteride can block the formation of DHT to prevent hair loss and result in thicker hair overall :)
That fucking sucks. Def should be done in consultation with a doctor but there is still a risk of course.
Sexual adverse experiences such as erectile dysfunction (ED), loss of libido, and ejaculation disorders have been consistent side effects of finasteride in a maximum percentage of 15% after 1 year of therapy. ([source](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1743609515316878#:~:text=Sexual%20adverse%20experiences%20such%20as,after%201%20year%20of%20therapy))
While we're on a more positive note here, vitamin D3 is great for hair. It may not stop you from balding, i just know i lost patches of hair a while ago to the point i had to buzz it and i religiously took vitamin D3 and my hair grew back fully and better than ever. Drink water, take your vitamins, do a stretch. Alright, positivity out 🫡
Bald spot brother, try get a hold of some bantana oil, rosemary oil and Jamaican black castor oil with lavender, you can mix 3 tablespoons of each with about 100ml of water and spray it on the patch, derma rolling the patch before this could also help and try to reduce your sugar intake as well (best of luck)
It’s a bald spot. I had alopecia too so I would recommend seeing a dermatologist. I get steroid shots which usually helps with my flare ups although it’s slower this time.
I had the same issue in the same place. Turns out it wasn’t a bald spot at all my dreads had just taken the hair from that spot I guess. Anyway when I cut mine off the bald spot disappeared and a month later the hair at that spot is the same exact length as the rest of my head. My suggestion is cut them off and start over.
As someone who had a bald spot, it definitely is. Go to a dermatologist and they can help you decide what’s best for you. I started using what my dermatologist recommended and the growth has been amazing. Good luck!
if you’re a male over 18 talk to your doc about oral finasteride. it is stronger than topical minoxidil but you can use both.
you can also visit r/tressless for adjuncts to medication (dermapen/microneedling, red light therapy, etc) and other things to avoid (hats/caps that are too tight and heavy oils on the scalp that don’t let it breathe etc.
some people respond really well, so might give stuff a chance before giving up dreads. but make sure they’re not too heavy or tight. if they are, then loosen them up and/or cut some length to take the strain off the hair that you still have.
it will likely takes months or years to grow back if it does (for some people it can’t be reversed). good luck
Don’t restart rock the bald spot or do you dreads up in a way where you can’t see it! I’m so sorry though this has to be really difficult to deal with! Fingers crossed for you!
Perhaps your bold or as a black man go to the dermatologist they can take a biopsy . I thought I was bald and had alopecia . You might have ccca , google that . It’s a bald spot that starts in the middle .
bald spot. embrace it. nothing worse than someone holding on too long. believe me, i made the choice to shave bald when i was 20 cause my hairline was receding like a mf. had to skip the embarrassment and hair paranoia stage and just get it over with.
Wash AND Condition your locs. Try not to do any tight styles. Try not to retwist or touch your hair more than you need to. Massage your scalp 5 minutes a day. Use stimulating and moisturizing oils 2-3 times a week (like tea tree, vitamin e, and jojoba oil, etc.) Hope your hair grows back friend 😭
rub castor oil onto the spot every night before bed, did this for my bf who had the same thing. could jus be from tension. his grew back nicely after i massaged sum oils into his scalp, specifically in the spot. castor oil n mielle rosemary oil, promise.
The spot can get worse with the weight of the dread’s suggested to cut them to a shorter length to pro long the balding out the longer you keep them long and thick the fast the balding out will happen as the hair follicles are weighted
Take biotin, use a derma roller and increase blood flow with working out and eating right. Might be genetics but there's things to help with that, that's so simple

I dunno- my dreads are so heavy they create bald spots - when that happens I let the area grow out and it usually sorts itself out. But everyone is different.. maybe worth a shot
I hope its just that :( i really dont wanna restart. Its only been 9 months since i started 😭

Head over to r/tressless and start learning
great advice
You sure you aren’t just going bald? Has your hair always been thin in that spot?
My hair has always been thin. I thought putting it in locs would make it more thick or at least look like it
Please go to a dermatologist and not the internet. I had the same thing happen to me, and it was quite traumatic. I ran to the net for whatever remedy I could find. Get on finasteride and minoxidil asap, you’re still at a point where you can recover completely
Talk to your doctor first! Don’t buy the stuff online that advertises higher doses or strength than what is offered in America.
As long as it ain’t oral versions he will be fine I use a combination of topical minoxidil and RU58841 and I completely stopped my hair loss and reversed it actually have more hair in those problem areas than I did when I was 15
I started balding at 6. It was a rough childhood. They called me patches. I'm lying 🤣🤣🤣
Really? Because I have the thing going on right now
Even if it is genetic? That will still help?
MPB is caused by a testosterone related hormone DHT. Finasteride can block the formation of DHT to prevent hair loss and result in thicker hair overall :)
I know a guy who got on that stuff on a whim and now he has ED. He can't get it up no matter what. Fixed his hair though.
That fucking sucks. Def should be done in consultation with a doctor but there is still a risk of course. Yes finasteride is specifically made to stop male pattern baldness from progressing and minoxidil will help you regrow any thinning hair.
It’s genetic for everyone… MPB I mean
Hmmm? ![gif](giphy|QIO3a4F1VsyZanxzw1|downsized)
I love how the people in back are shocked when she turns around 😭
“AHHHH A FACE!”
“oh my god she’s black!!!”
Why are people so unkind to men? It’s a bald spot hun. And if you’re having a hard time with that I’m sending you some comforting energy.
Love this.
People are unkind to everyone, if you haven’t noticed yet

Is this a bald spot or just exposed skin. Fam, cope
Is that a bald spot?! Bruh April fools is over
Moses parted it. But there’s hope you can get one of those lace toupe things or a hair transplant
Combine those 4 together over it and get wicks, wear it in ponytails, or cut it.
Do not get wicks!
Cut it is the only thing you said that will work
Bald spot brother, try get a hold of some bantana oil, rosemary oil and Jamaican black castor oil with lavender, you can mix 3 tablespoons of each with about 100ml of water and spray it on the patch, derma rolling the patch before this could also help and try to reduce your sugar intake as well (best of luck)

It’s a bald spot. I had alopecia too so I would recommend seeing a dermatologist. I get steroid shots which usually helps with my flare ups although it’s slower this time.
Same here. And I'm on oral minoxidil.
Other people have posted this same problem and they saying it’s due to lack of maintenance and not actual Male Pattern Baldness
Yea that's giving bald spot. Product suggestion: try minoxidil

Now you know…

I think it's a bald spot, but you may be able to cover it up if you pick some of that out. I think it's worth a shot before cutting it all off.

bald spot. embrace it. nothing worse than someone holding on too long. believe me, i made the choice to shave bald when i was 20 cause my hairline was receding like a mf. had to skip the embarrassment and hair paranoia stage and just get it over with.
You should see a dermatologist. Looks like it could be CCCA, a type of alopecia.
Go to a dermatologist or trichologist. This is a bald spot, you just need to know why you have it and how to fix it. Good luck!
Jus get a retwist and it’ll blend it won’t even see it.
rub castor oil onto the spot every night before bed, did this for my bf who had the same thing. could jus be from tension. his grew back nicely after i massaged sum oils into his scalp, specifically in the spot. castor oil n mielle rosemary oil, promise.
