Hip-hop fans are eating. When Drake disses were dropping, I was excited af for the kendrick responses.
This beef was good for everyone except those two. ![img](emote|t5_2z4xo|4215)
Cole is my favorite rapper but he was never going to be labeled as the GOAT of Hip Hop. Kendrick will to some people but most will still have someone like Biggie, Pac, Nas, or Jay because that was the golden era of Hip Hop. Just like nobody is going to be the King of Pop except for Michael Jackson even if people come along and break their records. The timing of when you come along determines where you are in those convos just as much if not more so than your skill or accomplishments.
J Cole is a sweetheart, I love drake but j Cole is adorable. I was probably one of the few people who thought it was kind of endearing he backed out. I know some people said it was smart, which yes could be true, I also took it as maybe like he really does love music so much and doesn't want smoke. I admire that. If I'm wrong that's fine, just did really do think he means well.
As a Cole fan, I really didn’t care how other people viewed it. Cole seemed to get the heads up from K Dot and Schoolboy Q that the beef was about to get extremely personal and Cole made the right move to back out seeing as he has a friendship with both K Dot and Drake. He thought the beef was gonna be some big 3 battle royal to see who the best MC was, and changed his tune when he realized that wasn’t what it was at all.
You can ask 100 different people who they think the true GOAT is and you will get different answers depending on their age ranges the type of hip-hop/rap they listen to/grew up on. There are a lot of people born in the late 90s early 2000s and later that don’t have any of those 4 you mentioned on their GOAT list. It’s all subjective, which is why I said debate.
Of course it’s subjective, but to even be a respected answer you have to have some type of claim in the first place. Mos Def was my favorite rapper growing up, but even though he’s one of the greatest of all time, he doesn’t have the accolades to be THE greatest of all time if you catch my drift. Someone can say that 21 Savage is their GOAT, but nobody is going to take anyone seriously that has 21 Savage as THE GOAT ya know?
There are some prerequisites, but timing is one of them. Kendrick has all of the accolades as well as the respect as an all time lyricist, but would there be a Kendrick without Andre 3000? Or Lil Wayne? Or Eminem? And when there are guys that paved the way for someone in the GOAT convo while also having the accolades and respect they do, it’s hard to make a claim for that person that came after as being the absolute GOAT when the person that preceded them did what they did first.
I think you'd be surprised how many people would consider Kendrick the GOAT, even oldheads. Does it really matter who paved the way for you if your cultural impact is overall bigger than theirs? We won't know how many people artists from this era will inspire until decades down the line, but the only thing we can be sure of is that the answer won't be no one
Kendricks impact hasn’t surpassed any of the 3 artists I’ve named, equalled maybe, but mot surpassed. Anyone that thinks so is way too young to even have a legitimate conversation about it with.
I’ve perused a ton of hip hop discussion, from this sub to that sub to that sub, from real life discussions then and now, to whatever else it may be- I’ve never seen anyone claim Kendrick is the goat. Top ten, top five? Yes - but never seen anyone say he definitely is the goat.
I think it has to go by era at this point. IMO, Kendrick, nor Drake could ever do enough to be the GOAT of hip hop. You gotta give it up for people like Rakim. He was the GOAT of his time. NWA. Then NaS, Hov, Big, Pac, Em, took it to other levels. The South came up. 50 and Ye were super impactful artists. Then Wayne came shortly after. All these artists were around when you actually had to sell records too. No downloads or streams, but bootlegging and pirating were around. Physical copies. It was different. Kendrick, Drake, Cole are the Goats of their era, but they borrow from all of these artists in some way. Drake in particular borrows from a lot of older music.
I understand, I just don’t think there is a reasonable answer unless you’re just talking numbers. If that’s all it’s based off of, then Drake is the GOAT. IMO, it’s more than just numbers
Which you are allowed to do, no one is attempting to stop anyone from listening to drake. I love drake, and this beef just made me like Kendrick more 🤷🏾♂️. But i agree, imma still wait for a better song than “ wah gwan delilah “
Oh shit I didn’t even see him on stage? Well anyway thanks to Drake for putting everything together tonight. Truly a modern hip hop milestone.
Though I found it weird how many diss tracks directed at himself he decided to put on the track list?
Drake said he didn't have the west coast respect or have gang ties.
Kendrick just proved both to be false. Also this was more about celebrating LA music than it was hate.
Only LA people touched the stage.
The main mistake drake made in this shit was not being hateful enough. His shit literally seemed passive when compared to what kendrick was talking about. All he had to do was make a family matters level diss for kendrick and kendrick alone. Maybe touch on how hypocritical it is to criticize drakes circle when considering the excessive pimping in west coast culture, or the supporting of the monster of a person that dr dre is (impregnated 19 year old that he met at 16, chronic abuser, pimp).
Kendrick been writing poems about Drake for years and years and years (and stashing them) for later use. Let that sink in.
That’s a mental health crisis in the real world… but yall ain’t ready for that discussion.
And Kayne… man, still one of my favorite “artists” of all time. From music production to apparel design, my guy has been going through it for years.
Nothing to be ashamed of — we’re all human
I don’t wear a tinfoil cap, I don’t know these people personally, their position is not my personality and identity like it seems to be for you.
It’s just not that serious for me - you feel me? IDK, let me know if should break it down some more.
It was tho. He played that song 6 times. 🤣🤣🤣 Im gonna be really interested to see what yall got to say when Kendrick don’t got anything else to offer yall. Its gonna be so damn funny.
They not understanding the more they team up and hate that nigga the more I like and look forward to his music
Hip-hop fans are eating. When Drake disses were dropping, I was excited af for the kendrick responses. This beef was good for everyone except those two. ![img](emote|t5_2z4xo|4215)
Bro this beef was good for everyone but Drake
Not just Drake….it was goat debate suicide for Cole

Wish that's what it would have been tbh. This whole thing could have been a lot cooler if it would have stayed hip hop instead of TMZ

You're way to level-headed for Reddit. Get out of here! ;)
Of course it’s subjective, but to even be a respected answer you have to have some type of claim in the first place. bro what do you think OAT stands for? GOTE is a fine convo to have i guess (greatest of their era) but GOAT means GOAT
I understand, I just don’t think there is a reasonable answer unless you’re just talking numbers. If that’s all it’s based off of, then Drake is the GOAT. IMO, it’s more than just numbers
it’s definitely more than just numbers but if there were an obvious answer it wouldn’t be a debate, and it’s always a debate
If u can watch a man rap bout a fake daughter and say he did a good job, you enjoy lying
[удалено]
Interesting point.
They both benefit hugely from this beef. Monetarily speaking.
[удалено]
he still benefits from this lol no one said anything other than that stop crying
I think K is doing just fine
Nahh this beef was only bad for Drake lol Kendrick United the Westcoast for a moment and all this hating on Drake is no one’s fault but his own
It’s almost like this is the entertainment business. They both cashed in . No different from your favorite reality tv show
I’m sure the West Coast Avengers are dismayed that u/lordhypebeast is still looking forward to Drake’s music
Damn I wanted to be the one to make this comment
I don’t listen to the west coast and I’m from there soooo
Let's not act like you wasn't liking and waiting for this nigga music anyway lol
If anything this just him telling on himself that he took this shit more personal than drake 😭😭
Right cuz if they understood u get excited they’d stop 😂 Real talk tho i am also very intrigued by what drake will do next
Sneak diss on insta - tf you wonder for?
💀
like what else would Drake have at this point? 😂
besides that he's already said a lot on those diss tracks that kendrick never addressed lol
That is fine too lol, nobody is tellin you not to listen. Hopefully whatever he does next is good.
The next thing he did though was that Sexxy Red Collab which might be one of the worst things to have ever entered my ears
next thing he does after this.
Good for you?
But who cares? That's not the point
I mean you do your on this comment in this sub
I don’t really think they care about the people that support Drake to be fair.
It’s crazy cause I don’t care what people think I like music I like and when I don’t I’ll decide that
As you should, who gives af what other people think about their music taste?
Who cares tho?
You do apparently
Respectfully, nobody cares what you’re waiting for. Lordhypebeast isn’t on anybody’s radar.
Slurp slurp gargle gargle. Can you breathe?
And that’s fine, but you gotta appreciate the dedication.
So you’re comfortable being a poser?
Poser? That Sexxy Red song was trash you aren't a poser if you dislike a song by an artist?
Vice Versa man.
Which you are allowed to do, no one is attempting to stop anyone from listening to drake. I love drake, and this beef just made me like Kendrick more 🤷🏾♂️. But i agree, imma still wait for a better song than “ wah gwan delilah “
Drake uniting the West Coast was not on my 2024 bingo card.
Oh shit I didn’t even see him on stage? Well anyway thanks to Drake for putting everything together tonight. Truly a modern hip hop milestone. Though I found it weird how many diss tracks directed at himself he decided to put on the track list?
this whole concert just for little Aubrey? That’s hilarious 😂
ong 😭
Hitler uniting the Allied Forces...
No, this is not the same thing, this gotta be sarcasm😭
Godwin’s law in action. Usually the losing side does this. Comparing him to Hitler is evidence of the delusion.
You mean a bunch of different groups ganging up on 1 bad guy? Nah he was cooking
this has to be the most dumbass comment I've seen come from this entire beef
no way dude, I saw one where they said they thought drake *won.* there's no competition for that
Oh boy. Now you Kendrick stans are running to a Drake fan subreddit Reddit to cry even more ☠️
Stolen tweet, but yes. It's kinda hilarious when you think about it. This level of hatred is new grounds for the industry lol
It’s personal hatred
Drake said he didn't have the west coast respect or have gang ties. Kendrick just proved both to be false. Also this was more about celebrating LA music than it was hate. Only LA people touched the stage.
He played 8 diss tracks ? And you say it’s not about hate 😭.
3 but the crowd BEGGED for encores. You ignore the 80% of his set that wasn't diss related or the 2+ hours of diss free west coast rappers opening up.
8 diss tracks?
Yeah NLU five times in a row
they probably 2/3 lines on element and humble and king kunta
Honestly it was very 5D chess of Drake to bait Kendrick into making such a concert. Truly a mastermind, he's got Kendrick right where he wants him
tf are you talking about? 😂 drake said that kendrick has no respect in his city, so kendrick proved him false. simple as that.
i think hes joking bc thats how some people on this sub think
Average drake fan iq
I know witchcraft when I see it
Tf does this mean lmao
He wants to know how Kendrick filled a stadium with bots, I guess
sure, makes sense...kinda, i guess?
it ain't even gotta be deep, I guess
Drake has Kendrick doing community concerts
You make it sound like doing something for the community is a bad thing
Some drake fans do think its a bad thing
God's plan
Nah not community they paying $300.00 a ticket he’s making money 💴
Kendrick making money off the culture? If he about the culture it should have been Freeeeeeeeeee.......... ![img](emote|t5_2z4xo|4215)
Kendrick is the whole reason for drake's first good track in a while
LMAO!!! bruh just stop..
Is it not true though? Family matters was the first good one since first person shooter 🤷♂️
And cole carried that anyway
All of FATD Scary Hours was solid. Lmao
That was the Hateration and Holleration that Mary J Blige was talking about. That was Hatechella. That was the Haters Ball 2024.
Hater Comicon 2024 fr
[удалено]
Im not on twitter I swear. I saw that on FB. Added the Haters ball part myself tho.
They lied and said push made drake take care of his son. Why play fair. Drake made kenny reunite the west coast
I was thinking the same thing like that shit felt like a spread the hate concert
Spread the hate concert 🤣 fr tho
So yall think Drake is so innocent? Like there isn’t “A” reason? Not one
The main mistake drake made in this shit was not being hateful enough. His shit literally seemed passive when compared to what kendrick was talking about. It was a red wedding
A MINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR
Kendrick been writing poems about Drake for years and years and years (and stashing them) for later use. Let that sink in. That’s a mental health crisis in the real world… but yall ain’t ready for that discussion.
Acting like Drake hasn’t done the same exact thing, except he was too scared to throw a direct shot 😂
Subliminal in rap is part of the art - but yall ain’t ready for that.
holy shit you are slobbering on it
Take a break buddy. Drake isn’t going to rail you.
Oh no! Damn.
whats up with you lot speculating about peoples mental health like you know them
kanye too. jealousy and envy fr.
And Kayne… man, still one of my favorite “artists” of all time. From music production to apparel design, my guy has been going through it for years. Nothing to be ashamed of — we’re all human
This is War, with the amount of money n influence on the line, would you not be prepared?
A war against who?? Lmao, there is no war, wtf are yall dot fans saying now???
U telling me when two titans of an industry clash , it's not war? Idk if you want me to break it down some more
I don’t wear a tinfoil cap, I don’t know these people personally, their position is not my personality and identity like it seems to be for you. It’s just not that serious for me - you feel me? IDK, let me know if should break it down some more.
considering drake pushed kendrick and promoted him and they make distinctly different music no it’s not war..
But it’s “art” and he’s famous so it’s just cool /s
Does it ever make you reflect? Why is Drake so disliked?
Yeah and it was beautiful tf 😂
🤣🤣
Here for denial overload pure comedy, dark humor really in a stop the steal kinda way
Drake fans are about as deep as a puddle. It’s not just about him.
It was tho. He played that song 6 times. 🤣🤣🤣 Im gonna be really interested to see what yall got to say when Kendrick don’t got anything else to offer yall. Its gonna be so damn funny.
