Working beside it for years at this point. I have never seen it open. Nothing really docks that far upriver besides the Jeanie Johnston and small craft.

They have to open it for maintenance purposes every few years, but not sure of the schedule. There was a story they lost the remote control to allow them to do that!

That's a different bridge.

I made a post a year ago with some pictures. [https://www.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/12cw28g/samuel\_beckett\_bridge\_turning/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/12cw28g/samuel_beckett_bridge_turning/) Here is a blog that post the closing days and times of the bridge, but just goes up to May this year. Might get updated later in the year. They open it during maintenance every few months. Think I saw traffic closed off for it last month so will be a while again. I’d imagine if you email Dublin City council theyd let you know

I've seen it swing open a few times, but never for a boat, just for maintenance and I presume testing. Scheduled opening times are available here: https://www.dublincity.ie/residential/transportation/samuel-beckett-bridge Looks like there's nothing scheduled after May yet, unfortunately! One thing I will say is that it doesn't always open on the scheduled day. If there's a problem with the mechanism, you might need to come back two or three days to see it work.

Yup seen it a couple of times now and have photos somewhere. Pain in the ass tbh I’d you’re trying to get from one side to the other.
