JT and Kamara owner here šŸ™ƒ My ā€œwin-nowā€ build is suddenly looking very bleakā€¦

DMarkoVz

Welcome to dynasty, itā€™s a painful ride

ManBearJewLion

Itā€™s my birthday today, too. What a great gift šŸ˜¬

TheSpaceWhalers

Happy Birthday, buddy.

jhenryscott

For your birthday, I got you exciting young dynamic qb Malik Cunningham

Separate-Ad-6242

Happy birthday friend. Hope something awesome happened today.

WaywardWes

No itā€™s ok, you just need to win out after they return and squeak into the playoffs!

HookFL

https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1696613732028228079?t=M9k9GXYC22K-57BEcJ5MJQ&s=19 The Coltsā€™ next best opportunity to deal their All-Pro RB could be before the NFLā€™s Oct. 31 trade deadline. If no deal by then, Colts could tag Jonathan Taylor and try to trade him again this off-season. But there is no end of this drama currently in sight.

ArchManningBurner

Luckily JT will lose value the longer Irsay plays this game, so it's in his best interest to figure it out

Lilspainishflea

Yeah the Colts are certainly unscathed having an All Pro RB ride the pine while Zack Moss plays alongside their developmental QB.

HustlingBackwards96

Ah but you are mistaken. Zach Moss is unavailable with a broken arm. That QB shall be guided by the legendary Deon Jackson. At least for a couple of weeks

S420J

Kareem Hunt come on down!

Royal-Ebb6666

Nah Evan hull szn

fisherbeam

I thinking letting a rbs agent hose them over even tho every other big market rb took a one year deal is a much better option.

Lilspainishflea

Do moral victories against your best player's agent count toward playoff eligibility?

fisherbeam

No, but they donā€™t sink the team for a rb who might get injured week three and be guaranteed 30$ million while the colts need cb and ol depth.

Lilspainishflea

The Colts are sitting on $20M in cap space in 2023 and $83M in cap space in 2024. Resource constraints wonā€™t make them a worse team over the next two years but playing Zack Moss over Jonathan Taylor will.

reddogrjw

out the first 4 games - left on the PUP

BradyKissesKids

Mostert is inevitable

Fatal_Koala

\*snap\* (It's Mostert's old man ankle)

Separate-Ad-6242

Bah gawd, thatā€™s mosterts old man ankle music!

dont_care-

"JT is invaluable, we are not trading him" "JT is a rb obviously we aren't going to pay him he ain't worth shit lmao"

milk_sauce

Itā€™s honestly ridiculous. And if he sucks it up and plays (well at least)? FRANCHISE TAG. Literally trapped lol

ipoopwithoutpeeing

It's almost like the NFLPA agreed to terms and everyone is playing the game.

ImmoralModerator

the NFLPA isnā€™t going to give a crap about RBs because they make up an incredibly small percentage of total players

jfchops2

Lots of players are likely happy about the RB situation from a selfish place because it means more money for them, even if they won't come out and admit it.

Popular_Read7694

Quarterbackā€™s also make a really small percentage of the league

Lambeau_Leap

Number wise, sure. But money wise, public face wise, they are the largest. Always will be

3rdrich

You could argue that RBs are the next position to be the face of a franchiseā€¦ Derrick Henry, Nick Chubb, Jonathan Taylor, CMC, Saquon, Josh Jacobs all could arguably be the face of the franchise. Bijan could be in ATL soon. Kamara was after Brees was done. Zeke was for a while in Dallas even with Dakā€¦ at the very least it would be arguable between the two of them. RBs deserve something different than the current system. NFLPA is failing them right now.

Puzzled-Bet4837

Being the face of the team doesnā€™t really drive up the value a lot in and of itself. These guys are great players but theyā€™re just cogs in the NFL machine other than a very select few top guys (Mahomes, Brady). Itā€™s not like the NBA where they really need the stars to push the games, people will tune into the NFL regardless. Like sure those guys you mentioned are stars on r/nfl and r/dynastyff but if I asked my dad what team Jonathan Taylor or Josh Jacobs played for I bet heā€™d have no idea despite sitting on his couch and watching games all day on Sunday.

iamgarron

They're also so easily replaceable. If their value as a face of a franchise was that high, they'd also get paid more.

3rdrich

Some are. Some arenā€™t. The guys I mentioned are not. CMC wasnā€™t and isnā€™t going to be replaced in Carolina. Henry wonā€™t be replaced easily in TN. Saquon, Taylor, and Jacobs? Not easy to find replacements for those guys. Not unless you had a pick before the falcons and lions this year and chose to spend that draft capital on Bijan or Gibbs. The low end RBs could be easily replaced but so could the low end QBs.

ipoopwithoutpeeing

None of the guys you mentioned have won a SB. It doesnā€™t make sense to pay for a high end RB.

eSpiritCorpse

What's your point?

Fatal_Koala

It's actually against the law to mention this on [Reddit.com](https://Reddit.com).

ipoopwithoutpeeing

Iā€™m an owner bootlicker. What can I say?

wiscymanpack

you literally are, it's why you're scared to respond to the guy who kills your stupid and wrong argument bootlicker

Fatal_Koala

šŸ˜‚ also known as an advocate for personal responsibility of any kind.

yakobmylum

Pointing out how someone is not being treated fairly is advocating for the opposite of personal responsibility? Is it not personal responsibility to see that you can make as much money as you can when your career ends very quickly and often suddenly?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

skisbosco

"All the Collts would have to do is pay him a lot". Colts giving that idea a hard "nah".

necrow

>All they have to do is pay him more money than anyone is willing to pay a running back This all goes away if Irsay just agrees to pay JT more than any team is willing to pay any RB...?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

CMC isnā€™t the starting point. CMC is an elite player on 100% of offensive play calls. JT is elite at like 40% of play calls, and down right bad at the other 60%.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Well he didnā€™t get paid like CMC

necrow

I think we just fundamentally disagree on both how much JT is worth and how much the Colts realistically would pay him. I can't imagine a world in which JT is getting $64M AAV for 4 years (nor do I think he's worth that much to an NFL team), and I also think it would be absolutely foolish of the Colts to throw away their leverage to give him that I think teams have been signaling that exact point all offseason. You can point out Henry, but Jacobs and Saquon tested this exact dynamic this offseason and came out on the wrong end (in addition to JT). It's a league wide shift in valuation and I don't know why the Colts would ignore it

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Lilspainishflea

Also keep in mind that the Colts need to spend something like $75-$100M more pear year in 2024 and 2025 just to hit the salary floor minimum. Why not pay JT in 2023 and then restructure him next year? You gotta pay someone anyway, might as well make it your best player.

S420J

Preach! Love the breakdown, people constantly ignore cap%.

smallso1197

I would argue that the holdouts also fucked the market up. Le'veon and Melvin Gordon both held out then did fuck all when they eventually did get paid and their original teams were just fine

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

GrizNectar

This will make RBs much lower drafted, lowering their initial contract. Hurting the majority of RBs who donā€™t get a fat 2nd contract

Really_Clever

RB's get second contracts?

GrizNectar

Exactly

drammmallama

As a Colts fan I want them to just pay the man. But am I the only one that feels it's JT and his new agent being unreasonable here? Am I missing something? This is a business, and JT signed his rookie contract just like everyone else in his class did. From what I've read it seems that the org's position is that they don't want to pay him more *right now*, but that doesn't mean they won't give him a new contract when the time comes. Why should the Colts pay him more money before they need to? To me it smells like a flashy agent swooped in and sold JT on a promise to get him a lucrative new deal and Irsay called his bluff.

CrookGG

Your not missing anything and you basically nailed exactly whatā€™s happening. JT ends up looking like an idiot, a hurt idiot at that

_Kindakrazy_

Only idiot here is Irsay in my opinion. ā€œWeā€™d rather pay you and have your contract accrue while on PUP than trade you for whatever we can getā€. Screams of a man being guided by his ego. The only people I see blaming JT are Pat McAfee and other colts fans.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

stu17

Deon Jackson is now my RB1 until Kamaraā€™s suspension is over lol

IknowGuacIsXtra

Go watch some MHJ highlights

sippinhennessy1

LOL

SteffeEric

Or Williams if itā€™s SF.

stu17

Lol. We only have to start 1 RB (4 flex spots). 11 offensive starters and 11 IDP starters. RBs arenā€™t as important as most leagues, so itā€™s not a total disaster.

Cartmaaan-brah

ELEVEN IDPs?????

stu17

Actually, I miscounted and itā€™s only 9 offense and 9 defense. But yeah, itā€™s a lot. Defense: DE, DT, LB, LB, DE/DT/LB, CB, S, CB/S, IDP Flex Offense: QB, RB, WR, WR, TE, 4 Flex Plus a kicker. No DST.

mxslvr

8-11 is pretty standard

SpezIsABrony

So valuable you canā€™t trade him, not valuable enough to re-sign him.

dizaditch

The James Harden Conundrum

BigBlack12

So JT just needs a fat suit?

naughtynuns69

Harden opted into his contract though

ryanaldam

Yeah but Taylor signed his contract too. I get players want more for producing but they wonā€™t let you take it away if they suck. Doesnā€™t help that nfl contracts arenā€™t fully guaranteed either. But if JT is unhappy either sit out and donā€™t get paid or just play and sign a new deal elsewhere when you can

jordan4290

Not much room for negotiation on a rookie contract. You gotta sign it at some point

ryanaldam

Right but you sign it and play. Then at the end you earn a new contract

Anothercraphistorian

Tell that to Saquon and Jacobs.

Imaginary-Cycle-1977

How many more examples are you gonna need to see of teams kicking rbs to the curb after their rookie deal before you move off this dumb take?

bourgeoisiebrat

The NBA and NFL have radically different collective bargaining models. You canā€™t compare the two. Itā€™s also worth noting that Taylor didnā€™t get all-NFL money when he had an all-NFL season. The lack of relationship between production and paychecks cuts both ways.

Leonidas1213

Little more to it than that

TheFinalCurl

Not really. You don't think they have some sort of multiplier they have for how much money a draft pick is worth? They know.

tippy432

Not exactly that hard to grasp they probably got a 2nd or 3rd offer tops maybe even less considering how public him and his agent have been about getting paid..

SpezIsABrony

Yea, Iā€™m grasping it. Been grasping it. Just sucks for JT. Now what does he do? Show up to play and take a seasons beating for an owner who isnā€™t gonna pay him and doesnā€™t seem to even respect him. You play like shit you donā€™t get paid. You ball out and you get tagged. Fun stuff.

eSpiritCorpse

What would the Colts do if every time he's handed the ball JT just takes a knee? I want to see a RB negotiate this way.

Narrow-Election-1325

Heā€™d get blacklisted from the league tbh

tippy432

Irsay would let him rot on the bench for eternity just to prove a point

Billy_Madison69

This is the most brain-dead take on the situation out there but itā€™s everywhere

SpezIsABrony

Is it brain dead? Rich coming from u/Billy_Madison69. JTs value comes from having an all-pro RB you donā€™t have to pay anything too and can run into the ground.

Billy_Madison69

Look at u/SpezIsABrony talking shit about usernames LMAOOOOOO

SpezIsABrony

Lol, whose talking shit? You donā€™t think it is rich Billy Madison,a movie about a brain dead man child, is calling things brain dead?

Billy_Madison69

Itā€™s a username lol literally meaningless in the context Also, whoā€™s*

DON'T FORGET HULL, EVAN MIGHT BE THE LEADER

a-helluva-engineer

Took him in a startup second round. Gg

Hazy_Lights

Took him at the 1.02 in my startup last year. Still won it all thanks to the other rounds. But this stings.

crline3924

I think this is a Kareem Hunt post

JujuRanger

Achane owners unite!

platypus1720

Achane dodges elite RBā€™s like heā€™s Neo in The Matrix

TheFinalCurl

Literally dodges A Train

Tuna-No-Crust

Miami has literally tried everything to add another RB to the room. That man is not safe and shows they view him more as a gadget type

CWB2208

>shows they view him more as a gadget type No it doesn't lol It shows they want to compete. Achane's a rookie. This has nothing to do with him being "a gadget type."

Tuna-No-Crust

Wanting to add Dalvin and JT to the room means they donā€™t view him as a 3 down back, thatā€™s probably what I shouldā€™ve said.

cjfreel

tried everything expect paying the price a single one of the RBs or teams was looking for. They did everything! expect for... doing any thing.

Tuna-No-Crust

Cook chose the Jets over the dolphins and the colts didnā€™t trade JT. Theyā€™ve been in on both massive targets.. but sure, think Achane is going to be a fantasy difference maker there šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

cjfreel

I'm confused. What rule didn't allow the Dolphins to offer more? Can you show it to me?

CrookGG

Broooo they tried so hard tho!!!! šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Anothercraphistorian

Mike McDaniel is a former Niners coach, he knows that style of offense burns through RBs like no other.

RookieStyles

Fournette looms in the shadows...

cjfreel

We really still talking about Fournette lol?

RookieStyles

He casts a long shadow.

Homebrewz

His grave does. He ded

cjfreel

Probably why he doesn't have any interest.

RookieStyles

About as much interest as Miami wanting to feature Achane.

ArchManningBurner

Damn bro what did Achane do to you šŸ˜‚

RookieStyles

I'm just jealous of 5'9" kings šŸ˜”

cjfreel

Do you think a team would pay a 3rd Round Pick for Fournette? I sure don't.

RookieStyles

I think a team will pay money, normally.

t74000

Just clowns who still own him lol

walrusrampage

The true conclusion from this debacle.

[deleted]

Traded for JT right before the off-season. My team is gonna suck. Fucking hate fantasy sometimes Unless Evan Hull turns into something

MrBenShapiro

same. fucking same. atleast i have two other solid RBs but i am fucked if injuries strike and if zack moss canā€™t win the rb1 role in indy

pechinburger

If you are competing this year, what do you do with this man?

Hazy_Lights

You hold. His value is about to be the lowest it's ever been. Don't panic sell.

Nervous-Mind-5113

Shopping him. Getting zero interest. So the answer would be crying. Was sitting pretty at rb with Ekeler JT and Dobbins

CrookGG

Ahh so just like the real NFL

Harisk7979

Iā€™m competing and Iā€™m shopping him rn

SteffeEric

I wonder if this will start A Chain reaction of some sort where RBs realize they are worthless and quit trying to get traded to my beloved 2.01 picks team?

It was.

papichuloya

Smh. Just fken play this szn out

MeetingKey4598

Tin foil hat theory: This entire drama is a ruse to get out of starting JT to soft tank into a better 2024 pick. They still have holes on the roster and it's better that they retain JT but don't play him. They want him to take a year off before next season to make a push and will pay him then.

[deleted]

I just find it fucking hilarious that the Colts supposedly ā€œhave decided against extensions until they see players play in the new systemā€, as if star players are just gonna put their careers on the line and at risk, just so that the Colts can figure out if their 15th QB in as many seasons will save their sinking franchise.

[deleted]

This guy is still under his rookie deal and had ankle surgery after not playing good most of last year. Jacobs and Barkley played out their rookie contracts. I wouldnā€™t have given JT a contract either. Not sure why you think JT should be handed a massive contract when still on his rookie deal when Barkley and jacobs just couldnā€™t get one AFTER they played out their rookie contract.

[deleted]

I mean the answer is good faith. You also have your WR1 on a contract year as well. Itā€™s a bad position to be in where you have no intention of showing good faith to your loyal players (not necessarily specifying JT here) that have played through a couple shit seasons for the team.

whadupreddit

Tbf JTs health is still kinda unknown and a long term deal+ that deal breaking the RB market would be a major risk to do especially in a year with a new QB and HC

[deleted]

Oh I donā€™t disagree, I just think itā€™s a weird stance to take with so many players (and potentially important ones) nearing the end of their contracts. The good players donā€™t care that youā€™re team is rebuilding, they want paid and want to win.

ArchManningBurner

Man, imagine if this all came to a head and the Colts starters collectively sat out. That would be some amazing chaos

[deleted]

Obviously wonā€™t happen but I agree. Imagine MPJ gets a serious injury and doesnā€™t get an extension. Would be a pretty sad state of affairs for a WR that has performed pretty well in the midst of a bunch of horseshit management and coaching decisions.

Simply_A_Swell_Guy

I'd just like to pay my respects to one user here who had these things to say about those here who thought JT wouldn't get traded: *When Colts let him seek trade* > Gotta love fantasy football players, so confident that he wonā€™t get traded. Itā€™s gonna be hilarious when he does. *When Rap said that in his opinion, he'll be traded on McAfee* > Still have the same opinion?? Rapoport saying more than likely heā€™s moved. You guys love to base your opinions on whatā€™s happened in the last 3-4 years and put the blinders on any other scenario. Never fails. *and after I said that there's no smoke to what Rap said* > The weird flex is you and a majority of this sub KNOWING whatā€™s gonna happen with JT and downvoting all other opinions. Especially now that it looks like youā€™re wrong. Much love, bro!

CallMeVegas

The jury is still out on if heā€™s getting traded or not, to me at least. Iā€™ve been smokescreened before.

andupitt

Well crapola

cone13

So whoā€™s RB1 in Indy to start the season?

DynastyZealot

Anthony Richardson

Mando2113

I think Zack Moss if heā€™s ready to go Week 1, his recovery timeline makes it a toss up though. Hull/Jackson committee approach is likely if not.

mr_0las

As you can see by all the responses nobody knows. Grab one off waviers and cross your fingers!

[deleted]

Hull

Huge_Beginning5552

Most likely Jackson

CWill97

Are we thinking Hull is starting in place of JT?

Indymizzum

Hull looked great in the preseason. He might win the starting job at some point this year, but I assume it will be Moss/Jackson taking all the meaningful snaps to start the year while JT is on the PUP

heartbrooksbrain

I have him and Kyler Murray in my dynasty. Iā€™m fucked this season

They never had any intention of trading him. Clown result from a clown owner. Hope they get blown out by 35+ every game on the way to an 0-4 start

CrookGG

Because you for sure know what the offers were right? This is a clown comment IMO

Mike_Honcho_3

There were already reports right at the start that teams didn't believe they were serious about trading him. Clown reply šŸ¤”šŸ¤”šŸ¤”

CrookGG

Impossible to say without seeing a single real offer. Iā€™d love to see what kind of low ball bullshit offer we declined from Miami

alwaysmyfault

I just traded CMC for AJ Brown + 2024 1st this morning. Guess I should have held onto him a little longer. Kill me.

Personal-Noise-8632

This strategy was a masterplan by irsay, grant him his trade request deny every offer to let the player know we adore you and nobody offered a fair value package, bc we value you more than a 1st rounder. Let things cool off, while he doesn't play four weeks on pup, offer a fair value contract extension during said time. Contract extension accepted by said player.. Said player is now fully healthy and is league winner again

tacospizzawingsbeer

Iā€™m trying to buy him. I offered Akers and a 2nd.
