I agree. Rams signed him *after* the suspension was announced. And he had a horrible 2023. Assuming a 26 year old, 4th round pick, with 1 (but basically 0) year NFL experience will be the backup in LA is very optimistic
Rams still need to be getting ready for Stafford's retirement. Jimmy G is there so that they don't have to rely on Bennett as the backup after what happened last season, but Bennett's in a similar situation to Jordan Travis who is rostered in about twice as many leagues.
Yes, they need to prepare for life post-Stafford and it won’t be Bennett; it’ll be a new QB they draft or a bridge QB they sign.
Travis is rostered in more leagues because he was just part of the draft which makes him a shiny new toy and he’s a rushing threat, which boosts him a bit more. In a year, his ownership percentage will dip as well.
Those spots are usually better spent on long shot rookies than vets past their prime who have never been more than a flex anyway. Give me any pass catching TE or WR who was drafted, or pretty much any RB with a chance of making the 53 over the guys you listed. Most will be nothing but they will be easy to cut if so.
Some rookie waiver guys I recently targeted
- Dillon Johnson: Workmanlike RB with NFL size. He will compete with Hassan Haskins as the 'big back' in Tennessee. Had 65 receptions in 2021 for Miss St. (same number as Ricky Pearsall has last year as a senior).
- Jalen Coker: Small school guy with nice blend of size/speed. Steve Smith talked him up as a guy who could make the competition leap. Carolina needs outside receivers as most of their guys are slots/flankers so he could see playing time.
- Ryan Flournoy: Another small school guy. Good athlete. Some upside as a potential Michael Gallup replacement if Jalen Tolbert doesn't work out.
- Bub Means: Deep threat who profiles similarly to AT Perry but was drafted a round earlier. Potential to come out of camp as the #3 WR in NO.
- Brenden Rice: Not his dad but he has the tools to be a solid pro. The Chargers just have so little at the position he could hit.
- Ainias Smith / Johnny Wilson: The WR3 spot is up for grabs with Davante Parker and Parris Campbell in the mix. Smith profiles as the Campbell competition and Wilson as the Parker competition. Neither of those vets are cemented so we may see opportunity there.
There’s a decent amount of talk about Coker as an UDFA and he would probably end up as wr6/7 on the team. Legette, Johnson, Thielen, and Smith-Marsette should be on the team for sure. Mingo is probably the 5th wr and Coker could sneak his way in there above terrace Marshall, David Moore, Mike Strachan and whoever else we have at the bottom of the depth chart rn. He could also not make the team but I think he might. Oh and we paid him a lot of money for a UDFA
Appreciate the response. I’ve understood the WR hype but udfa as wr7 on arguably the worst team. Hard for me to see the value in my eyes. But I get the other point of - him being a dart throw, Car wr is a mess and anyone can emerge, paid money and is doing well at rookie minicamp.
Hope yall get your guy. Wilder things have happened, who knows!
I added the last remaining drafted RBs. Jase McClellan, Keilan Robinson, Jawhar Jordan. Only takes an injury or two for guys like them to be relevant, and being drafted means they will probably make their rosters. Worth a taxi hold if you have the space imo.
I'm still all about stashing Lucas Krull TE Broncos. I know Dulcich appears to be the guy there going forward, but what if he doesn't quite return to full form and just doesn't pan out? I think Krull flashed just enough last year to give the hint that he could be the guy if Dulcich isn't, and training camp should give a good indication, so he doesn't need to be rostered for long, most likely.
Dulchich was liked by the last camp. He hasn’t looked any good under new coach, they even brought in their backup TE last year, that speaks volumes in my book.
But we shall see.
I’m guessing Jimmy G is on the Rams to be the backup. Bennett is irrelevant.

Cade Stover being reunited with CJ Stroud in Houston is very intriguing to me

Ryan Flournoy. Cowboys have no depth at WR. He has all measurable and was the only skill player on the offensive side of the ball drafted.
I picked him up, but if he doesn't show out by week 4 he's toast. 25 year old rookies don't get a long leash
This can be said for a majority of day 3 picks regardless of age
Got him off waivers in all 4 of my dynasty leagues

Jalen Coker
You think Carolina takes 7 WRs? Or who does he beat out? 0 shot they give up on mingo already

Doubt he pans out to much, but if there is a dart throw to go for he’s top of that list for me

I know he's not super sexy, but yeah, give me all the free shares of a former starting running back for Alabama that landed on a great offense.
Jordan Travis year 2 has a chance.
Cade Stover, Dylan Laube, Ainias Smith, Eric All, Blake Watson, Jalen Coker, Jacob Cowing
Ryan Flournoy & DeVaughn Vele
Dillion Johnson RB..udfa from titans, power runner could make team and get a role
