ive seen every option. Ive seen people bring like 20 cat dog token for ren and seri sometimes you just have 1 of each and can use 2 die for tapped and untapped, 2 copies use for tapped and untapped. Ive seen someone use their phone with the calculator app for scute swarm tokens lol. I have dry erase tokens personally its w.e. as long as its clear. If you arent sure you are going to be clear, goldfish your deck with tokens and see what you like.

OranjeBlanjeBlou

I’ve seen all the options too.  The obvious best option, though, is to have physical tokens, and everyone who’s played against tokens knows it.

willdrum4food

thats only really true when you have a small token count lol.

bobhorticulture

This is a very specific case but I like using small candies for food tokens (M&M’s, jelly beans, etc) so when I sac a food I just eat it

I’m doing it with the goose mother (and appropriate Cadbury mini eggs as the foods ofc), but I don’t know if that’s really a “weird food” commander

Depends on how fancy you want it. I'd get some standard 6-sided dice (or a set of those d&d dice) to help represent tokens. For example, you don't need 5 Elf Warrior tokens, you could just use a single Elf Warrior tokens and a dice set to its 5 side. Some people only bring 2 of each token - one for tapped, one for untapped. I personally use Infinitokens and carry around a dry erase marker and eraser. I also carry a single Monarch token, and five Treasure // Clue tokens. Finally, any deck that focuses on one type of tokens gets a ton of em to bling out. My [[Sidisi, Brood Tyrant]] deck has like 20 zombie tokens.

You can do whatever you want. I wrote an article about what I do. But the point is you have to be clear and state “this is how I’m representing it” and it has to be reasonable. My take is that you should at least use something at least vaguely mtg card shaped and sized (even if it’s just another face down card). Please no tic-tacs or mints as tokens.

kyoob

Pad of Post-It’s. Pen. Dice on top. As long as you draw a funny little picture of what the token is, no one minds.

MrOopiseDaisy

I use a dry erase marker on the back of empty sleeves. You can buy other products, but I like this way best.

gerundhome

I have a couple of each tokens i create with my decks (if i have the tokens) so i can represent tapped/untapped ones (with dices to count the numbers). Infinitokens for those missing tokens i create but don't have the card. I also have a bunch of different arts of the same token in my decks that create a ton of the same one.

The_Spaghett_Boy

For common/cheap tokens i just buy a bunch and keep them with the deck, or if i ever do a MPC fill order i bling some out. Infinitokens are also an option. Face down magic cards next to the thing that made them is also common

ExaminationNo6335

I use Tesseract tokens- they are just one brand of dry wipe blank cards, you’ll find loads of others across Amazon, EBay etc

MixMasterAlpha

I used to use die. Then, as I accumulated tokens from buying product, I just put equal p/t tokens in the deck box. Now, since I got rid of all that, I use the tokens that come with the precons or have white dry-erase tokens (which you can buy for not much) and have a paper towel to wipe it off. If you want to use the actual ones you only need two of each - 1 for tapped and 1 for untapped.

Hobbles_vi

My sister and I use little gems. Like those from fishtanks and such. We got into it because we played token decks waaaay back when token cards were rarely a thing. Picture of her most recent boards state at the end of a game with her Chatterfang deck. The bean shaped tokens are squirrels and the round darker green ones are Saprolings. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/625828771206922254/1221631563125620766/20240324_212340.jpg?ex=661c828d&is=660a0d8d&hm=2e3a15b84c90dae640aea6ec8184ac68cb608a613beb1d8790a78f96287a385c&

Holding_Priority

If you're playing a deck like Krenko I fully expect a sideboard of about 200 goblin tokens for you to haphazardly dump onto the table.

MrXexe

I tend to have two copies of a token I use (for example, two Treasure tokens in a deck that makes them). This allows me to represent differences between them (for example, tapping one without sacrificing it for whatever reason), and if I create more, I use a dice to represent the amount. I tend to put them on the superior part of the token (where the name is) In case that they are creature tokens with a counters of sorts, I put the dice in the bottom left corner of the token (the contrary to where the power/toughness) is. To -1/-1 counters, I put the dice just besides the power.

TheRealShyft

Dry erase blank cards. You can do it multiple ways but the cheapest is to put a random card in a sleeve with a piece of paper. Then just write on the sleeve with a whiteboard marker.

CrisKanda

I use, 2 for creature tokens, 1 for a \[\[Swang song\]\] type of thing, and if i do A LOT i[ use this from amazon](https://www.amazon.es/dp/B08KRSXCYY) also is fun for the table if we need to draw

HelicopterCrash

Mtgprint. They don't have to be high quality, just throw them in sleeves

Gone_Rucking

I do three with dice. Pretty close to your tapped & untapped idea but I keep that third in case I need to distinguish between ones with and without summoning sickness.

namyarb3

That’s exactly what I do. Except the two decks I play [[Army of the Dammed]]. I have 26 zombie tokens because fuck it. lol it’s rad to see 26 zombie tokens on my board!

Synister-James

Anything can be used to represent any token so long as it's clearly represented and understandable, and is able to be clearly differentiated from other tokens of the same type with different statues (being tapped, summoning sick, etc) I either use dry-erase tokens for decks with too many types to individually keep on hand or official tokens for a few decks that I want to be nifty. You can use dice to count how many of a certain type of token you have so long as those dice dont get confused with any counters on the token. If you wanted, you could use pokemon cards as long as you say what they're representing, and use poker chips on top of them to denote amount. Have fun with it, do what feels the best and the most fun for you, so long as it doesn't confuse yourself or other players.
