They covered every game of the Cavs/Magic series. They spent extra time covering game 7 and even had a segment where they discussed if Donovan Mitchell is entering superstar territory because he had 39 points to take out Orlando in game 7. They also had a piece where they discussed if Donovan Mitchell or Jalen Brunson (Knicks) is the bigger star.
I agree with others here about the show having tunnel vision for the most part but I also see people complain here constantly and say "I watched the show and they never mentioned yada, yada, yada." But in reality the show had an entire segment on that particular subject.
The same thing happens in this sub that is happening in everyday society as a whole; people see or hear 25% of something and then they go bitching and moaning on social media as if they seen or heard 100% of it.
I've literally seen people on this sub start threads saying "I watched Get Up! this morning and the entire fucking show was about Lebron and the Lakers." Then when the OP gets called out, they admit that they turned on the show and watched 8 minutes and they only talked about Lebron and the Lakers. OP then turned off the TV and later took to social media to complain and make a blanket statement.
Get Up! is a 2 hour show. Don't watch 10 minutes of a segment where they're debating a subject or breaking down a game and then turn the channel and later bitch and twist shit from a 10 minute window you watched into a 120 minute show. When you talk about things as 100%, you need to have more than 10% of the facts. Stop exaggerating everything!!
People on this sub always complain because they talk about the Lakers and not the Blazers. Or they talk about the Cowboys and not the Titans. Or the Yankees and Dodgers but not the Marlins or A's. They're talking about the teams that draw more viewers. Same reason FS1 covers the exact same teams and players on their daily sports shows. It would be bad business to not give consumers what they've obviously shown you, in viewer ratings, they want to see and hear about.
What blows my mind is how I see the same people posting in this sub everyday (not you Big-Acanthis) and they're constantly bitching about ESPN and the shows on ESPN. They never make a single positive post, only constant negativity about how they hate ESPN. Then the same complaints the next day and next day, on and on. My question is "if you hate something so much, why in the hell are you going right back to it day after day?" And not only that, they will then come to this ESPN subreddit and take time out of their day to complain about ESPN and how they hate everything about it.
This shouldn't be hard to figure out. It's a fucking TV channel for crying out loud!! Just delete it from your viewing package or simply stop watching ESPN. This isn't like a 20 year marriage where you both hate one another but it's hard to divorce because you have 4 kids together, a nice home, vehicles, family pets, insurance together, etc. That's something that's hard to leave even though you don't like your spouse anymore. This shit here is a freaking TV channel.
It would be like somebody hating seafood but eating at Red Lobster every damn day and then bitching to their waitress/waiter and manager after every meal about how they hate seafood. Go somewhere else!! Watch something else!!
Nice rant. I wasn’t bitching about anything really just stating a fact. I personally think Get Up and First Take are lazy. I’d like anyone to show me where they enjoy watching the same discussions day after day with a minor tweak here and there. I’m basically watching Monday & Tuesday with my work schedule so it’s really no great loss if I miss a day. When I pick the show back up they’re still talking about the same lame topic.
As a Cavs fan who typically has espn on in the background while I work, I was getting LIVID with the lack of mention from both Get Up and First Take.
Hockey always gets the short end of the stick unless McAfee talks about it. But they’ll spend 85% of the show talking about the NBA Playoffs and didn’t mention the Cavs name until they made it to the second round. First thing they did was predict a “gentlemen’s sweep”.
Unsportsmanlike spent an hour on Tom Brady's roast. We got NHL and NBA playoffs going on but Brady's roast got the most airtime. ESPN has become a fucking clown show
Also spent time talking the MVP (so far) of the playoffs and Embiid is on that list?! I totally understand he is the reason the 76ers won two games against the Knicks but holy hell, to give an MVP (so far) nod after getting bounced in 6 games?
Makes absolutely no sense.
That's Greeny right there. Every game is the greatest NBA playoff game ever. The greatest NBA playoff series ever. One of the greatest playoff performances ever. Dude can only speak in hyperboles.
I remember when the Mavs beat the Heat in the Finals, Greeny said Dirk was a top 10 player ever/no discussion about it. I thought, "he's an outstanding player, but top 10?! Really?!"
I remember when Sam Darnold or Zach Wilson came in and won their first game and he proclaimed the Jets had finally found the next great QB and their troubles were over.
According to the espn bi laws there are no sports outside nba , lebron james , dallas cowboys , college football ( in that order ) talk of other sports is blasphemous. Exceptions may be made for caitlan clark , tiger woods , and serena williams .
You missed the NFL which actually drives the majority of their content. I found it insane that each show for the last month or so focused on the NFL draft when there was the NBA playoffs happening.
They talk about the NBA all the time. Btw go look at the NFL draft ratings and you will under why the NFL drives the conversation on all US sports networks.
Oh I understand the financials behind focusing on the NFL plus they own the NFL draft coverage but having it be the main topic for so long is off putting. It literally was the start of morning shows when I was trying to find out what happened in the late night NBA game the previous night.
I think we are at the point where the NBA is going to be the topic.
That Magic/Cavs series was pretty much ignored which I hate as an NBA fan because it was the only series to go 7 games.
I almost made this same exact post a week or so ago.. and I'm not even that big a hockey guy to begin with (I probably couldn't pick five NHL players out of a police lineup) but playoff hockey is damn great "theater"..
and the fact that it's fking ESPN broadcasting much of the playoffs, but then they don't even do highlights or recaps of these thrilling games the next morning?
The Twins win streak was bull shit they got 6 or 7 wins against a historically bad White Sox team and swept the Angels who aren’t good in their own right.
“I’m done with ESPN except for three of their popular studio shows and all of their live games, which they broadcast tons of and which make them the most money”
Oh stfu, if you realized how much TV I watch and what a small percentage it is because I'm a disabled loser (I'm honest with myself about who I am, and I'm not a loser because I'm disabled, it's separate issues) - it'd make more sense.
I basically live in front of the TV and probably less than 20% of it is watching ESPN.
Other than the 20 people in New England, who else watches hockey? Of course I'm being facetious, but ESPN (like other networks) is driven by ad revenue and viewership.
If they don't talk about the topics viewers want to hear (regardless of whether they're relevant), then viewers stop watching, and they lose revenue. People like to rant and rave about Stephen A, but because he's so polarizing, he attracts viewers.
True but if you represent yourself as the home of the NHL a little bit more of an effort is required for the fans. That doesn’t mean bring that asshat PK Stubban to the table.
I wish the MLB network had a live early morning program during the season. I exercise early in the morning and I like to listen to some live sports talk. I can't take Unsportsmanlike anymore and Quick Pitch is only a half hour long.
I mean if they did, they would talk about it. ESPN is desperate for eyeballs. So if they felt it would get more viewers than the Lebron vs Jordan discussion for the 100,000,000,000,000th time, they would. It just doesn’t. The WNBA women’s college basketball has probably gotten more airtime in the last 5 months than hockey and baseball on those shows.
I didn't even realize the Cavs and Mavs were still in the playoffs because the other series were the only ones they discussed.
Agreed. The show has a very narrow focus unfortunately.
Show? You mean channel?
I was talking about the show Get Up but the channel also fits 😁.
I knew what you were saying haha
It’s negligent at this point. Cavs overcome an 18 point deficit to win game 7 and not a single mention?
They covered every game of the Cavs/Magic series. They spent extra time covering game 7 and even had a segment where they discussed if Donovan Mitchell is entering superstar territory because he had 39 points to take out Orlando in game 7. It’s a 2 hr show with a lot of beating a dead horse when it comes to the topics covered. On Mondays & Tuesdays I genuinely watch the whole show.
People on this sub always complain because they talk about the Lakers and not the Blazers. Or they talk about the Cowboys and not the Titans. Or the Yankees and Dodgers but not the Marlins or A's. It's not you that I was referring to. I don't want you to think I was and if you felt I was, I'm sorry and that's my fault.
All good my friend.

Absolutely.
“Become”??? To me they have been for years!! Again, people must like it. I feel like you and I may be in the minority.
Our society has become a race to the bottom. Pandering to the dumbest among us
sus
Very sus
More like ESPNFL
Tbf that roast was some of the best live television in the last decade. Refreshing to see unedited/unfiltered people just ripping each other up!
Also spent time talking the MVP (so far) of the playoffs and Embiid is on that list?! I totally understand he is the reason the 76ers won two games against the Knicks but holy hell, to give an MVP (so far) nod after getting bounced in 6 games? Makes absolutely no sense.
Agreed
Usual overkill of a topic and massive speculation, oh forgot the next greatest basketball player surpassing Jordan after a few games.
That's Greeny right there. Every game is the greatest NBA playoff game ever. The greatest NBA playoff series ever. One of the greatest playoff performances ever. Dude can only speak in hyperboles.

😂😂😂😂
5 hours after this post and 20 upvotes.. nobody gaf about hockey
Why do you watch espn? It’s garbage now
I’m a glutton for punishment. Now I’m forced to watch the next round of Ranger games on ESPN.
ESPN has been a joke for awhile, ever since Tebowmania led by Skip Bayless took off. That network has been a shell of itself
Un…..wait for it……watchable.
Good luck trying to get a hockey score as well 😂😂😂
Indeed.
I don’t watch that garbage. Same thing every day, shout fest, and x jocks preening.
The Twins win streak was bull shit they got 6 or 7 wins against a historically bad White Sox team and swept the Angels who aren’t good in their own right.
You play who’s on your schedule. They still get points for the streak.
That’s fair they’re also not in first place. I think there’s other baseball news that’s more important
Indeed, I’m a Mets fan but I believe the Phillies have a streak going on at the moment that could warrant attention.
bold of you to assume espn is aware of anything going on outside of the dallas cowboys and lebron james
😂 bold indeed.
Last year during the MLB playoffs, it was the same thing in the early rounds. Barely a mention
Gee one might think ESPN is a for-profit business and thus talks about what their audience wants to hear 🤷🏽♂️
The whole audience or just a narrow slice of said audience?
Get up is about Lebron, Dak and the cowboys, Aaron Rogers, and thats about it.
Unfortunately or sad but true also fits 😁
Key is what did Lebron think about this
😂😂😂😂
As soon as GMFB is back I'm done with ESPN except for the point, PTI and ATH and actual sports events.
I have read over the weekend ESPN (Disney) maybe in the process of acquiring the NFL network.
FML
Off topic, but whats up with billion dollar NFL getting rid of all they staff like Andrew Siciliano , Michael Irving and others
From the articles I’ve seen over the weekend it’s all to be barebones in terms of of talent when they sell to ESPN (Disney)
Nfl makes more than any other sports league why they selling to Disney? Your telling me billion dollar NFL can't afford nfl network?
Nothing I read went into why the NFL wanted to move on from the NFL Network.
“I’m done with ESPN except for three of their popular studio shows and all of their live games, which they broadcast tons of and which make them the most money”
I should've specified just football and postseason hockey.
You’re so brave
Oh stfu, if you realized how much TV I watch and what a small percentage it is because I'm a disabled loser (I'm honest with myself about who I am, and I'm not a loser because I'm disabled, it's separate issues) - it'd make more sense. Yea espn is trash all they talk about is stupid NFL I watch MLB network
I wish the MLB network had a live early morning program during the season. I exercise early in the morning and I like to listen to some live sports talk. I can't take Unsportsmanlike anymore and Quick Pitch is only a half hour long.
Mlb network does have an AM show . Well AM east coast time . Mlb central , high heat and mlb now at 12 ET
I guess that is technically AM where I live lol.
QP is the nightly recap show . They have some beautiful women on that show !! 😍
Yea, and it replays in the morning. I can only watch it so many times lol.
I love mlb central w/ Lauren Shehadi and D row
They should find out what Dak and LeBron have to say about hockey.
Surprised they didn’t discuss the NFL more
Indeed.
I’ve thought Get Up wants the a basketball show from its very beginning.
It might have been. I religiously avoided it for a long time.
Get Up For The Love of the Same Talking Points Every Day. Edit- Greeny is the epitome of a sell out. LOVED mike and mike in the morning
Hockey doesn’t get ratings nor does baseball. Baseball is solely a regional interest.
Stop it… 😄
I mean if they did, they would talk about it.
And yet they still pay a boatload of money for broadcast rights to the NHL and MLB so someone must be watching.
