One trick that works for me: Try searching using a narrow price range to limit your results to a reasonable number, then sort by "Price Plus Shipping: **Highest** First" and scroll to the end of your search results and work your way **UP** rather than down. Results will sort by the **highest** priced variation within your chosen price range rather than the **lowest**.

Just ask yourself if eBay benefits from whatever change you’re expecting. The thing is, plenty of people sort by low price and buy from that top listing. Are they getting scammed? Yes. Is it scam-light and the buyer’s fault for not being more attentive. Sure.

This has been a problem for years, wish they would fix it. I usually have to put a minimum price in the search options to cut out all the search manipulation listings.

bigtopjimmi

I agree, it sucks. Technically they're not supposed to be using product variables in this way, so I guess you could try reporting these listings but I doubt it will do any good.

I noticed they do this on AliExpress and sites like that too. It's frustrating but I'm not sure what can be done.

jordan-jay

I kinda expect it in Aliexpress as it’s a foreign site that allows any old crap and awful sellers on it… EBay used to have a good reputation.

Nemesis_Nailer

I am so with you on this! It drives me crazy! I purposely don't buy from these people. If you find a way to report them, please share, I want to help take them down!

Yeah, variations on new items should be limited to one standard deviation in price.

Sand_Maiden

I don’t have an answer but I hope you get one. This is frustrating to me too.
