Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who actually stops there. I’ve seen multiple people just straight up blow through the stop sign as if it’s a green light. Now I wish I actually reported it as a problem intersection
EPS just released a statement not long ago.
Family was struck by a truck while crossing a crosswalk. Little boy was ran over and died on the scene, mother and daughter are in the hospital. So sad. RIP to that poor little boy.
It looks like it's up on the EPS site now: [https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/fatalcollisionswJune27](https://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaReleases/fatalcollisionswJune27)
People blow through stops like crazy here it’s horrifying.
I’m scared to let my kids out without me watching them like a hawk because I can’t trust any drivers. People tear through neighborhoods, school zones, stop signs, are on their phones, etc.
This poor family. I can’t even imagine.
[Four lanes of traffic to cross... in a neighbourhood.](https://www.google.com/maps/@53.3972986,-113.5281047,3a,75y,67.32h,86.98t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s5Mv-TxMpDkpEi86SJQB_pw!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3D5Mv-TxMpDkpEi86SJQB_pw%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.share%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26yaw%3D67.32453583395363%26pitch%3D3.0248097536422875%26thumbfov%3D90!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205410&entry=ttu) Ugh...
I was told this by word of mouth so some info may be inaccurate because there was not much known at the time but two kids sister and brother were on their way back home from the park and a truck struck them for reasons people have said above. The boy was pronounced dead on scene and the girl is in critical condition :(.
This is so incredibly sad. I hope the driver gets life in prison, who the hell runs over a toddler and doesn’t wait for a crosswalk to clear.
I’m so fucking tired of the drivers in this city. I have TWO different friend who have been hit by vehicles while in a marked cross walk, me and two of my coworkers were almost hit by a dude in a white van in castledowns who ran a red light and didn’t even look up from his phone, and I’ve watched plenty of people blow through stops signs and turn into crosswalks with people in them! Not to mention all of the vehicles hitting buildings lately.
Some drastic change and initiatives needs to happen.
I've driven through this intersection on a near daily basis and the only way you possibly could hit someone here is if you're being an asshole driver by rushing and/or not paying attention. The size of the intersection has nothing to do with it, the visibility of the stop signs and pedestrian signs are all very clear, there are no trees or bushes obscuring any signage. The best thing they can add are the flashing yellow walking lights for pedestrians.
Um actually the developers design and build the roads "to regulations". The planners just approve these subdivisions. But yeah the planners really need to step up their game, no more allowing these awful street designs through.
I agree, the oversight is lacking to be sure. When I worked on the Henday/calgary trail interchange in construction I knew it’d be a mess during rush hour. How many traffic jams and accidents have we had there?
Yeah, stupid people just trying to live in their neighbourhood, huh? /s
Way to blame the victims without knowing any details. Maybe people piloting vehicles should look up from their phones once in a while and slow the fuck down instead.
Are you fucking kidding me with this comment? I have to assume this is a troll or someone satirizing what a truly “asinine” comment on this tragedy would be
Fatal collision at the corner of Allard Rd. SW and Allard Boulevard SW. Nothing more known at this time.
Oh no :c that’s really sad. Thank you for the response though

That is sad beyond belief. Rest in peace innocent child. Prayers for you.
Fuck. At the crosswalk?

Ya I’m familiar with the intersection. Lots of frustration there.
Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who actually stops there. I’ve seen multiple people just straight up blow through the stop sign as if it’s a green light. Now I wish I actually reported it as a problem intersection
Apparently the person involved did stop.
3 ways ! Is this a dangerous setup?
Jesus christ. My heart breaks for the family.
what the fuck. jesus. thoughts with the family
What?! OMG. Noooo. 💔
Likely the driver that failed to stop, unless there was a mechanical failure.
Oh that’s horrible!! Not really surprising the way people drive around here, but so devastating 💔
I am truly sorry. This is tragic. My condolences to the child's family. 🙏
Omg how horrible
Whaaaa.... that's horrific

My son is the same age and I just can’t even fucking imagine. How absolutely heartbreaking.

Everyone just needs to pay an extra couple fucking seconds of attention, Jesus fuck.

Terrible design for a 3 way stop. Hopefully they install lights in this area.
Or stop overengineering neighbourhood roads to be this wide.
That is what happens when you limit the entrances to a neighbourhood. There should be several more ways in and out.
Thank you for this. Will be extra cautious if I ever drive here.
This is so unbelievably tragic. I can’t even imagine what the Mom & daughter are going through right now.
Traffic collision unfortunately that resulted in a fatality.

Police have confirmed that the little boy did not make it. I'm heartbroken to read that.
That’s so heartbreaking! That poor boy and poor family 😞💔

This is horrific. No other word for it.

The urban planners fail at so many places in Edmonton.

Fatal collision by Ford150…imagine my shock

They were in the middle of the intersection...it's not like they just stepped onto the roadway.

Wow..
5 year old girl died, and her 2 family members are in emergency 💔 😢
