Technically you could beat the entire game using only the Ringed Finger. Grab Dectus Medallion halves first thing by running through the forts then ride all the way to Mt Gelmir and down the Gelmir Heros Grave to the finger.
...I might have to try this lol
And if you get bored with this you could do a Quality build! Quality is kinda meh in this game but still has options like Godrick's Greataxe, Axe of Godfrey, Dragon Halberd, Dragonscale Blade, any of the other Somber weapons using pure STR/DEX (I'm sure I'm forgetting some) plus your pick of Heavy/Keen/Quality/Fire/Lightning affinity for basic weapons depending on your stats.
I freaking love the bloody helice. It might not be meta, or very practical. But damn do I feel like beast backstepping and doing a beefy thrust attack.
Love it as well, the ash of war is extremely underrated and will catch most invaders unaware! and since that’s the most pvp I do, the helice is meta for me
I did my invasions for Varre other day and ran into someone using the Helice. I don't normally invade other people, but I'll test my skills whenever I do the Varre quest. Anywho, this dude absolutely annihilated me with the Helice. It was actually inspiring
Ofc you can get it pretty much before beating any other boss except for noble. Just get dectus Medallion run through volcano manor stunlock noble with sleep pots and unsheathe/square off and take the Portal to rykard. He's really not that hard with the levels from noble
Of course you also have to take into account the weapon requirements, but yes - I suppose you can grab it early if you take that approach. I think it’s a disappointing way of playing the game if it’s your first time though, particularly because you’re spoiling huge amounts of it for yourself.
Ofc that is not a strategy for a first playthrough, those should always be completely blind from start to finish.
But once you're a couple hundred hours and multiple playthroughs in it's fun to mess around with doing things out of order and all that.
Winged greathorn. I’ve heard some many people talk smack on it but it’s legit a good weapon. It’s L2 is a big cloud that debuffs anyone who touches it for 1 minute making them take 15% more damage and it stacks with frostbite. Even just using it as a debuff stick is good but its damage really isn’t bad either if you don’t mind the great axe moveset.
Dude I ignored it for so many hours but tried it yesterday just to keep a ranged option in my str co-op build. I was in the ant's nest (deeproot depths) and a tryhard invader throws their bs pots etc at us, climbs on the big branches, and I thought I could try the jar cannon. I sniped lil bro off the branch in 1 shot lmfao, didn't even aim properly. This shit bussin
I made a level 50 strength build using the ballista (slightly lower requirements) with black knights halberd and other strength weapons, invading in caria manor and sniping people with it is so fun. Also, using the charm that makes you invisible when you're crouch.
Knight's Greatsword or Banished Knight's Greatsword. They share the same fantastic 2H moveset, the KGS has a little more reach, and the BKGS has a little more power. Either way, you really can't go wrong. Grab some armor and start slicing your way through the Lands Between.
Marais executioner sword is a hella cool but the weapon art is really situational
if you go by this, also try some arcane incantations like blood magic or dragon magic
Dual wielding scythes was really fun. Some solid scythes to choose from.
Started with winged scythe, then halo scythe for ring spam, and finally a grave scythe with bloodhound step. Dual wielding grave + winged.
Currently I’m using the dragon halberd and I’m having a crazy amount of fun with it! When you boost STR/DEX it’s crazy good in PVP. Plus it does lightning and ice damage! Other than that, Elenor’s Poleblade! Best weapon in the game
You can create a disgustingly good build with a stone club. Throw a heavy infusion with braggarts roar and some decent armor and you've got a functioning build.
dagger. It seems hard but you can make any weapon in Elden ring massively overpowered so a certain weapon run will never be hard for me, in limgrave alone you can get a strength tear (+10 strength), the charged tear (enhanced charged attacks), stamina tear (boost stamina recovery).
The weaker Radagon soreseal (the +3 stat one), hammer talisman (enhances charged attack), warrior jar shard (enhances skills), Green turtle talismans (boost stamina recovery)
You can also get golden vow next to strength tear
In surrounding areas such as early liurnia you can get the dexterity tear (+10 Dex) and winged insignia (boost successive attacks)
There’s a teleporter in limgrave which puts you into dragonbarrow to where the actual good Radagon soreseal. Near where you get the wondrous flask is flame grant me strength as it’s one path in Caelid
I went off topic but getting strong in Elden ring with any weapon is super easy
So I choose dagger as atleast for that you need to get close (you don’t as sacred blade is in limgrave and so is bloody slash lol)
Lordsworn straight sword. Using the default square off aow. You can stance break most bosses in 2-3 uses. Build it right and you can destroy everything very quickly
Mate if you're doing ng+ I just did a mohgwyn spear run. I had 40 arc, 60 vig and nothing else mattered. I tanked every hit and just wrecked every boss. Sub 4 hours which for me is quite good. Working on my routing to get the time down (e.g went to Castle Morne instead of Fort Haight 🙄) , but I was still thrilled. 118 hours for first run, full platinum (manual game save and reload for all endings).
Great Epee
You can do a full knights armor build using a greatshield or go light mercenary and parries with a small shield but hiding behind a shield and poking people is a ton of fun!
If you want some roleplay, pretend you're a mustache wearing gentleman out to duel. Wear aristocrats clothing, use a fancy small shield and riposte everyone. Maybe grind some extra gauntlets so you can throw them on the ground at peoples feet.
Nagakiba with offhand seal is the best idea 4 fun. Take some defence spells, some longer range hitting ones. Naga with any amazing aow (piercing fang, double slash, sword dance...). That build would be handy at pvp too.
My first play through I was full Int. respecced NG+ as Faith/Dex and ran Nagakiba w/ Double slash or spinning blade with Bloodflame blade / Vykes dragon bolt. I like double slash bc it’s like the original RoB. Im on my 6th play through & Im still using it.
You’ll need something else to level up just a bit to use it, but you can get Death’s Poker early in the game as it’s in Caelid. Beating the Death Rite Bird to get it will be a challenge early. Once you have it, though, its weapon art can beat anything in the game.
The omen axe (im jot sure what's its name) is insane as a streangth weapon and even better as a streangth arcane weapon, actually better then mohg spear
I freaking love the bloody helice. It might not be meta, or very practical. But damn do I feel like beast backstepping and doing a beefy thrust attack.
I tried to do the bloody helice in ng+ and it was fantastic. Felt like a bloody ballerina. The pirouette backwards is really fun but I still gotta be able to medium roll. Seen it said that you can fat roll with the helice, but just having backwards be the only direction I could properly evade, got me killed. Lots.
I couldn't keep up the damage through mid game though. Wound up respeccing and finishing my first ng+ as BONK.
Agreed. Its a very good weapon, just not a braindead touch L2 and win machine like Blasphemous blade or anything with lions claw. Heavy Thrusting Swords in general are S tier weapons in both PvE and PvP with their combination of range, speed and stagger potential.

Bastard sword in your right hand at all times except maybe a dagger for riposte. Then you can work a shield and crossbow in your left hand. I call It the bastard build. High str and vit, and room left for good armor.
For me it’s the Ruin Greatsword, I try a lot of different weapons throughout my play throughs but in the end when some enemy pisses me off enough and dares me to bring out the “Big guns” I default to the Ruin Greatsword as the weapon art is not something to trifled with as it has mowed down and flat out killed many a enemy including Malania.
Finger seal but you just hit people with it
The big finger, I can’t remember the name, but it flicks people lmao
Technically you could beat the entire game using only the Ringed Finger. Grab Dectus Medallion halves first thing by running through the forts then ride all the way to Mt Gelmir and down the Gelmir Heros Grave to the finger. ...I might have to try this lol
you’ve intrigued me now lol

I’ve done it, it’s awesome
I freaking love the bloody helice. It might not be meta, or very practical. But damn do I feel like beast backstepping and doing a beefy thrust attack.

Bloody Helice is appreciated as an A/S-tier weapon by the community, I'd say
It does benefit from the counterattack talisman
Bloodhound Fang all the way!
^^^ Did my first run through with Bloodhound Fang. Bloodhounds finesse is almost OP
Came here to say "this" to someone who said Bloodhounds Fang. So... THIS
Maliketh's Black Blade. I just think it's a cool weapon :)
Mantis blade
Such a sick weapon, just wish it was better or just as good as the mta curved swords.
Club
B O N K
TOGETHAAAAAAA
Unfortunately you can only get that pretty late on. Not really a ‘whole game’ weapon for a first run through, as much as I love it.
Ofc you can get it pretty much before beating any other boss except for noble. Just get dectus Medallion run through volcano manor stunlock noble with sleep pots and unsheathe/square off and take the Portal to rykard. He's really not that hard with the levels from noble

Vykes war spear and let madness take the world!!!
Envoys Longhorn
Can't believe no one has said Jar Cannon yet
Dude I ignored it for so many hours but tried it yesterday just to keep a ranged option in my str co-op build. I was in the ant's nest (deeproot depths) and a tryhard invader throws their bs pots etc at us, climbs on the big branches, and I thought I could try the jar cannon. The torch
Marais executioner sword is a hella cool but the weapon art is really situational if you go by this, also try some arcane incantations like blood magic or dragon magic
You stack on 4 talismans and a physic and become a living screwdriver
Iron balls. Goated.
Grave scythe
Dual wielding scythes was really fun. Some solid scythes to choose from. Started with winged scythe, then halo scythe for ring spam, and finally a grave scythe with bloodhound step. Dual wielding grave + winged.
Standard longsword with square off or something
buckler + misericorde
Currently I’m using the dragon halberd and I’m having a crazy amount of fun with it! When you boost STR/DEX it’s crazy good in PVP. Plus it does lightning and ice damage! Other than that, Elenor’s Poleblade! Best weapon in the game
Greatsword. Nothing is more satisfying.
Commander standered
Dagger
The butcher knife!
Reduvia
The morning star
Bloodhounds fang for sure
Spiked Caestus is king the spiky iron ball does more damage, but I like the caestys moveset more Any of the claw weapons are fun too
You can create a disgustingly good build with a stone club. Throw a heavy infusion with braggarts roar and some decent armor and you've got a functioning build.
Bloodhound Fang amazing l2 combo!!!
Friendship
Do a bow run. It is godawful, so each boss down feels like a great victory.
Nightrider flail
Godslayer Greatsword my beloved
Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear is by far the best weapon in the whole game
dagger. Dual hoslow whips/soble slander swords
Lordsworn straight sword. Using the default square off aow. You can stance break most bosses in 2-3 uses. Build it right and you can destroy everything very quickly
The Iron Cleaver is very fun! Especially the R2
Bloodhound’s fang has carried me all the way from very early game to The Capital, and it only seems to be getting better!
Fan Daggers
Dark moon greatsword is my personal favorite, it's really fun to find the openings and there's a lot of talisman synergy
Bare fist. I dare you.
Mate if you're doing ng+ I just did a mohgwyn spear run. I had 40 arc, 60 vig and nothing else mattered. I tanked every hit and just wrecked every boss. Sub 4 hours which for me is quite good. I'm currently running with the Bloodhounds Fang and the Dismounter but when I get Rivers Of Blood I'm switching the Dismounter out for that
Shortsword
Sword of Night and Flame is super fun
Serpent's curved sword, but it's the lava one

Claymans harpoon, ice spear ash of war if you want to get extra frosty
Flameberge
The omen axe (im jot sure what's its name) is insane as a streangth weapon and even better as a streangth arcane weapon, actually better then mohg spear
Helphen’s Steeple is so cool
I just finished a play through switching between the death ritual spear and moonveil depending on the scenario
Following. does anyone recommend eleonora's poleblade?
Beat the game with urumi the sword whip and godskin incants
Use Helen steeple and death poker
Spiked cestus with bloodflame blade
Big zweihander fan
Greatsword or Zweihander
Beast torch
Shamshir
Magma blade, 2 of em
Erdsteel dagger
The pizza cutter that the Iron Maidens use
I freaking love the bloody helice. It might not be meta, or very practical. But damn do I feel like beast backstepping and doing a beefy thrust attack.

Mama wyrm scalesword. Excellent two part AOW. Ive powerstanced it with both bloodhound fang and morgott's cursed sword
