Started with Threaded Cane for my first playthrough of the DLC. as Soon as I entered the DLC area I knew I found my upgrade. Kept the cane on second slot for swifter attacks but the Cutter is amazing. A sword that whomps and also a whip that mega whomps. Trick weapons are so cool in general.
when I first discovered it, it felt like a weapon crafted personally for me. curved swords have always been my favorite weapon type from the very beginning of my souls career. pyromancy has always been with me in every game, and my go-to for first playthroughs. Final dlc, of dark souls 3, and it grants me *that* weapon? A dream come true.
A bit of a tangent, but I just love that feeling, where you find a weapon and it just feels like you're the person they thought of when creating it, no matter that that's impossible. I had that feeling with the Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords. I love giant swords, in any game. And I always want to swing around a couple of them. When I saw the enemy holding them, I thought "oh, that's pretty cool", then saw them *use* them and went "HOLY FUCK THAT'S SO GOD DAMN COOL". And then the game gave them to me and I never took them off.
Warmth. It’s a heal, so I imagine something something demons something healing bad.
But I don’t remember anything from when I was playing and nothing came up just now when I looked.
Why the Carian Knight's Sword isn't a catalyst that boost sword sorceries I'll never know! It's item description literally says the knights used them as such to cast sorceries during battle ffs
That kissed me off so bad. I did a faith build first playthrough, so second playthrough I did a bee line for that sword, before I even fought Godrick. If I had known it sucked so much, I wouldn’t have bothered.
Dark Souls 2 had the best DLC weapons. There was that one shield that could cast both sorceries and miracles. Or that twinblade that was also a magic staff.
Right? Like it’s even in the item description that the weapons were doubled as catalysts… maybe we will get a patch or something in the DLC that makes it possible
Yeah a sword you can use to fight meele style and caat spells or use incantations as weapon art bht the incantations or spells you have in the spell slots
Popped into mine too. Cave of Ordeals, Floor#???, many many small skeletons. Ball and chain wiped them out easily like reaping wheat. It was glorious.
Imagine that but on *Torrent*.
Speaking of ball and chain, am I the only one who's disappointed by the flails? I feel like their move set is super disappointing and their reach is always way less than I'd expect.
Nightrider flail should have been a colossal flail. The nightriders themselves have to use 2 hands when they are dismounted.
Honestly disappointed by the whole weapon class of flails.
Yeah most of the different weapons feel good to use, even if their damage ends up being lackluster. Flails just feel bad AND also have subpar damage. Not a weapon I've ever enjoyed using.
this is one i actually expect. we already have twinblades, so the moveset is there. just need strike damage and a weapon model, maybe additional poise damage.
Honestly, there's a lot they can do with martial weapons (sai, bo staff, tonfa, etc) and it would be interesting because they would most likely expand on the land of the reeds lore
They could easily do this and just put it in the twinblade class. A wooden twinblade, dealing strike damage. Bam, bo staff. It’s so simple, so I hope they do it. If they really wanted to half ass it, they could recycle one of the twinblade’s movesets and call it a day. But for DLC they usually put more effort into the weapons and make them special.
Yeah it shouldn't be too difficult. Honestly though it would be nice if they not only added a Bo staff, but gave it a special moveset that's more "fluid" than the twinblades. A little less stop-and-go and more flow if that makes any sense 😂 idk my brain is toast today
I like it because it feels kinda, working class, somehow? Like, someone who fights giant mutated monsters but ain't really bringing in the big bucks. Kinda like a mix between a witcher and a regular dude who ain't got any fancy magics but a long stick with a blade on it instead. I use it with the marionette bird helm.
Colossal Spears
Polehammers (Mauls?)
They could maybe take the Cross-Naginata and Guardian's Swordspear, spin them off into a Swordspear category, and expand on that idea from there. They really do act more like each other than anything in their respective categories, and their powerstance movesets suffer for it. Though Loretta's Sickle would need to go in that category as well despite its design being more Halberd-ish. Oh well.
I like polearms, can you tell?
It sucks. The best bow in the game is a spell. Enemies dodge arrows. You have to pay for and craft arrows. Some arrows are limited in number per run. And bows lack good scaling.
I'm like. What happened?
Oddly, and I think most Souls games have felt this way for me, bows seem almost like they're supposed to be purely utility, and not something to ever use as a main weapon. I'm not sure why the game is designed in such a way. Maybe the devs think it'd make the games too easy, but it makes me sad because although you *can* play a ranger-type character, it doesn't really feel good and starts falling off quite heavily in the late game. It's a shame because you have so many interesting arrow types. It is still a versatile utility weapon, but I wish they scaled like a normal weapon.
I use the short bow cause it’s cool but if you literally just walk left to right the arrows won’t hit, you have to line up your shots and use a lot of tricks to win against someone decent. The smallest bit of tracking for close range strafing would help tremendously
Ngl I kinda want generally more unconventional weapons like the giant candlestick thing or the rusted anchor. Gimme a chair, the mariner's horn, a boat paddle, maybe a keg as a fist weapon, or a gong shield
I love this idea so much. They could honestly go nuts with it.
A tankard as a fist weapon.
A frying pan or a ladle as a hammer
Braided giant hair as a whip.
Another type? No. They've got pretty much every "type" of weapons covered.
What they lack, in certain types/categories, is diversity.
We have no Strike polearm or sword, we have no weapons that can be used for casting (or casting implements that can be used as weapons), we have a distinct lack of moveset variety in Straightswords and Greatswords, and we dont have near enough variety of Paired weapons.
Similarly, we have far too few "stance" style weapon arts, especially of the magic spell variety.
Where's my Carian Battlestaff with an AOW that does Carian Slicer on light attack and Carian Greatsword on a heavy attack?
As someone who hasn't messed around with spells *that* much, I'm doing a spell-only playthrough currently. My biggest disappointment so far was finding out Carian Greatsword doesn't have a jump and roll attack like Carian Slicer.
Not even close but the remaining weapon types are very culture-specific, mostly eastern ones.
To cite a few : Dagger & Rope-dart / Meteor hammer / Kusarigama (the chain-sickle wielded by some vulgar militia), Quarterstaves/Bo staves (bonk with twinblade moveset & speed), Chakram...
Hell, I'd like to see war fans or nunchakus, also they could create something entirely fantasy-like.
Most European-themed weapons can already be put into an existing category tho, so I get your point.
Edit : typo
Seriously we need this. We have the dismounter but its not cutting it. Odachi would rly spice up the Str Arcane roster bc rn we only have Mogh’s prongs and Marai Executioner to my knowledge
Given what I've seen in the params I expect to see the kusaragami? Ball and sickle thing the vulgar militia boyos use, as well as chakrams like the ones the crystallians use. They've built in space for new weapon types so I'm expecting they are considering it. Given they seem to want a regular and great sized weapon thing, or having two of each type of weapon I expect great flails and something akin to whips will be added eventually. I dunno if I want more weapon classes/types, when I'd rather they build in more alternate movesets for the classes that exist. I know for a fact they could make it so infusions or applied consumables can swap between alternate movesets for the same weapon, so putting in something like that would be a welcome piece of complexity that I would prefer over weapon classes.
Fume ultra great sword! Fume ultra great sword! Fume ultra great sword! Fume ultra great sword! The grafted blade is the closest I can get to it right now and it's saddening honestly.
Personally, i think not having the nox weapons function like trick-weapons is a huge missed opportunity. The Nox Monks atleast can turn their hammers into shields, so why couldn't we do so too?
Also (though this is not a weapon) i wish we could use a thorn whip spell, similar to those the flame monk enemies at the begining of Mountaintops of the Giants use. Would be a nice alternative to carian slicer i think.
I want nunchucks.
With Malenia's cool roundhouse kick as an AoW
Also more fist weapons, each with their own martial art movset, currently we just have boxing.
They did it in dks2 with bone fist, it had Kung fu moves.
Ultra Colossal Greatswords... just kidding. Oh god, Miyazaki, don't!
In all seriousness, I just thought it would be nice to get more paired weapons. Currently it's only fist-type weapons, the ornamental straightswords, and the starscourge greatswords. They gave us power stancing (sort of) but having a small selection of unique weapon combos with interesting movesets could be really nice. In DS3 the dagger and Greatsword combo from the Farron Legion, and Friede's Scythes were awesome weapons. Actually, I just looked it up again because I couldn't recall it properly. Friede's Scythe isn't technically a paired weapon, instead the weapon art is a stance where you summon the second weapon into your other hand. Still, something like that would be amazing too.
Is fromsoftware known for adding new weapon types to DLC? I don't think so. Plus what could you possibly want? Half of the weapon categories are just "thing but bigger," anyway.
There are 28 types not including torches. Cutting out the greats and colossal's you have 17 categories.
I want great daggers
I'm waiting on the Colossal Whips.
*Beast cutter entered the chat*
Great whips... *Drooling*
A good sword whip is what I need, lmao.
Well, Urumi is pretty strong
Not sure if you've ever used the Beast Cutter in Bloodborne, but that's more along the lines of what I'm talking about here
Started with Threaded Cane for my first playthrough of the DLC. as Soon as I entered the DLC area I knew I found my upgrade. Kept the cane on second slot for swifter attacks but the Cutter is amazing. A sword that whomps and also a whip that mega whomps. Trick weapons are so cool in general.
Beast cutter would be more a curved greatsword with whip heavy attacks, IMO, or a whip attack stance AOW.
5 cinderblocks linked together by an iron chain
Wait this sounds hilarious and fun af...
Mohgs dick, causes bleed and is so big.
That’s that true big dick energy
Mohg wanted to be the bottom to his cursed-to-be-forever-prebuscent *younger brother*. He could probably be outsized by an eraser.
It may only be three inches but it smells like a foot!
Yes but instead of cinder blocks, they're dragon heads that spit elemental damage when they connect
And colossal daggers
...a sword?
Never heard of it
Patch notes: Swords. Have changed the Sword class of weapons name to “Big Knives”.
I just want my Corvian Greatknife back...
cinquedea?
Godfrey probably has one, but it doesn‘t drop sadly
Str users and their fantasies
i mean we already cut a braid off a giant and turned it into a whip, might as well cut off something bigger.
Great Whip: some kind of super flail, ball-and-chain type dealio Colossal Whip: using a dead snakeman or stretched out godskin apostle as a whip
That would be awesome
I'm really hoping for a great flail.
Weapon catalysts would be cool
Demon's Scar, where art thou? I miss you dearly.
Imagine demons scar in elden ring!!! Power stancing curved swords that double as a Incantation caster?!?! Holy shit
when I first discovered it, it felt like a weapon crafted personally for me. curved swords have always been my favorite weapon type from the very beginning of my souls career. pyromancy has always been with me in every game, and my go-to for first playthroughs. Final dlc, of dark souls 3, and it grants me *that* weapon? A dream come true.

And then the game gave them to me and I never took them off.
Dozens of us! I feel like I hardly saw anyone else use it in game
Truly one of the coolest weapons we've ever received. The power and edge I felt wielding it is unmatched.
Demon's Scar in my right hand, Pyromancer's Parting Flame in my left, truly a sight to behold.
*Fuck* I miss my pyro back in Lothric
did we ever find out why it started screaming when you used that one specific pyromancy?
Warmth. It’s a heal, so I imagine something something demons something healing bad. But I don’t remember anything from when I was playing and nothing came up just now when I looked.
Lazuli Glintstone Sword still irks me
same with Lorettas scythe and Carian Knight sword
Why the Carian Knight's Sword isn't a catalyst that boost sword sorceries I'll never know! It's item description literally says the knights used them as such to cast sorceries during battle ffs
That kissed me off so bad. I did a faith build first playthrough, so second playthrough I did a bee line for that sword, before I even fought Godrick. If I had known it sucked so much, I wouldn’t have bothered.
> That kissed me off so bad. *snerk*
Ah, memories of the Blue Flame
Like a dream...
Such a sick weapon for pvp
It’s got to be catalysts. A colossal catalyst would be insane for a Faith/Strength build.
A colossal catalyst with increased power but a reduced cast speed would be interesting.
Erdtree avatars colossal hammer with erdtree incantations
Dark Souls 2 had the best DLC weapons. There was that one shield that could cast both sorceries and miracles. Or that twinblade that was also a magic staff.
Or the fist weapon that combined Heihachi and Ryu's moveset from Tekken and Street Fighter.
Bone fist. I used to rock that in the right hand with Alonne bewitched sword in the left.
That magic sword whip is one of my favorite weapons in all of video games, it wasn't very good but it was cool as fuck.
Or at least something that can cast both incants and sorcery. Like gideon's staff! It should be able to cast whatever at the cost of some scaling.
I really expected this from Carian and Miquellan knights’ swords (glintstone for Carian, universal for Miquellan). Just put it on AoW button
Right? Like it’s even in the item description that the weapons were doubled as catalysts… maybe we will get a patch or something in the DLC that makes it possible
Yeah a sword you can use to fight meele style and caat spells or use incantations as weapon art bht the incantations or spells you have in the spell slots
“Masterwork objective complete”
Ball and Chain Collosal Ball and Chain
Finally the twilight princess link build
That's the exact reason I posted this comment!
You did good. First thing to pop in my head. Weapon would probably be hard af to use in ER though lol
Popped into mine too. Cave of Ordeals, Floor#???, many many small skeletons. Ball and chain wiped them out easily like reaping wheat. It was glorious. Imagine that but on *Torrent*.
Some of the vulgar militia men carry kusarigama. Wish they would drop it
[удалено]
The stance damage lol
Speaking of ball and chain, am I the only one who's disappointed by the flails? I feel like their move set is super disappointing and their reach is always way less than I'd expect.
That would be awesome, like the Kusarigama from Nioh
Still can't get over how there should have been a colossal scythe called the crescent moon
True, I just wanted a cool Int scaling scythe
Yeah shame the only unique reapers are holy damage.
Like a big bat'leth
the game needs way more scythes in general I love them and there's so much potential
Colossal flails and whips
Colossal flails would be epic.
Live the Witch King of Angmar fantasy
I imagine them like Father's Ariandel flail but bigger
Or like the ring wraith king’s from lotr
Nightrider flail should have been a colossal flail. The nightriders themselves have to use 2 hands when they are dismounted. Honestly disappointed by the whole weapon class of flails.
Yeah most of the different weapons feel good to use, even if their damage ends up being lackluster. Flails just feel bad AND also have subpar damage. Not a weapon I've ever enjoyed using.
Bo staff. I want quick stick to bonk with
this is one i actually expect. we already have twinblades, so the moveset is there. just need strike damage and a weapon model, maybe additional poise damage.
It would be so fun to twirl it around like a Shaolin Monk and absolutely obliterate enemies with it
A Faith Monk Build would go absolutely crazy with this
Oh fuck yeah. Yes! I need that so badly
Honestly, there's a lot they can do with martial weapons (sai, bo staff, tonfa, etc) and it would be interesting because they would most likely expand on the land of the reeds lore
And so many blindfolds to choose from already!
Strike damage for those crystal dudes
Yeah a blunt twin-blade doing strike damage, with some spin and bonk moves would be a lot of fun.

Ooh maybe the heavy attacks could involve grabbing one end to make use of the entire length of the weapon.
they could even make them out of different kinds of wood too like erdtree wood and make it have holy damage like they did for the great club recently
Thorg angry, thorg want bonk
Need Sun Wukongs massive cudgel
Boomerangs
Australia DLC incoming
You didn't know Caelid is based on the Australian outback?
Can confirm, I regularly get attacked by invertebrates who shoot semen out their back when I go for a walk
Regular night at the pokies.
.............Soka build!!!!!!
"Boomerang! You do always come back!"
More weapon arts that can be transposed to other weapons.
I wish the Square Off AOW can be used on greatswords.
Chained weapons Like the Japanese sickle chain weapon.
The vulgar militia literally have one of those too ITS IN THE GAME WHY CANT WE GET IT
Are those the small fuckers?
The small fuckers *that drop lots of runes*
Their chest piece is also cool as hell for deranged looking builds. Pair it with the page hood and you look like a serial killer.
I stumbled through Caelid suuuuuper underleveled and farmed those little guys until I could comfortably stumble my way back out
Yeah the small fuckers that use Guerilla warfare ambush tactics to make up for their smurf size
Kusarigama
I thought of the ones that are used by the duelists, the Greataxe and the hammer tied up with the chains, looks so fun when they use them.
Colossal Spears Polehammers (Mauls?) They could maybe take the Cross-Naginata and Guardian's Swordspear, spin them off into a Swordspear category, and expand on that idea from there. They really do act more like each other than anything in their respective categories, and their powerstance movesets suffer for it. Though Loretta's Sickle would need to go in that category as well despite its design being more Halberd-ish. Oh well. I like polearms, can you tell?
Is the serpent hunter a swordspear?
It’s a giant spear. Same class as Silurian tree spear and Mohgs Sacred spear and the lance.
Designwise it could be considered one. Not exactly in line with what I'm describing mechanically though.
Gun
“Parry this you fucking casul.”
Hunter’s pistol
Isshin Glock
Think Sekiro! You think I wouldn’t climb out of my grandson’s neck with a gun!?
BLUNDERBUSS
And not an “classical” gun either, give the player a fucking Glock-19 and watch the world burn
I think moonlight AR-15 is cool, but the AK of night and flame is a lot better
Personally I'm more a fan of the Godskin Uzi
Those Golden Order fellas can pry my Erdtree shotgun from my cold, dead hands.
How many elephant rounds can the elden beast take?
Isshin the Glock Saint boutta have a rival.
An assault rifle
That would turn the lands between into America
The lands between Canada and Mexico
Bows with decent scaling 🥲
They could fix this by letting you change affinity on bows and/or improving their intrinsic scaling. Wouldn’t even need to add new bows.
Yes, tho more bows would be nice. Some with new effects and aow would be cool
It sucks. The best bow in the game is a spell. Enemies dodge arrows. You have to pay for and craft arrows. Some arrows are limited in number per run. And bows lack good scaling. I'm like. What happened?

Black bow.

Lmao that’d be hilarious
Great-Flails! Give me the goddamned Witch King's flail.
Make it inflict Death Blight too.
Ngl I kinda want generally more unconventional weapons like the giant candlestick thing or the rusted anchor. Gimme a chair, the mariner's horn, a boat paddle, maybe a keg as a fist weapon, or a gong shield
A house on a stick.
A mailbox?
Ash of war: Special Delivery
“Bah Gahd! Radahn’s on the ropes! *And here’s Tarnished with a folding chair*!”
I love this idea so much. They could honestly go nuts with it. A tankard as a fist weapon. A frying pan or a ladle as a hammer Braided giant hair as a whip.
They already did that last one, you get it from the Fire Giant And the ladle was a weapon back in DS2, but it was a joke weapon
Bro I didn't even think of stancing certain things like that! That sounds so fuckin cool! I so desperately hope this enables battlemage builds.
Yes please!
As someone who hasn't messed around with spells *that* much, I'm doing a spell-only playthrough currently. My biggest disappointment so far was finding out Carian Greatsword doesn't have a jump and roll attack like Carian Slicer.
The only real ones I can think of are ringblades and hook swords. Other than that From has been basically covered every weapon from history lol
Edit : typo
it'd be really easy to make a bo staff too, just make it with the twinblade category/moveset, and then make it do only strike damage.
Ring blades with a AoW similar to Rings of Light Incantation would be neat
I think odachis from samurais would be cool (big katanas for those that dont know). Or some trick weapos like bloodborne
The Nagakiba weapon basically is an odachi. They just decided to come up with their own name for it
No, i mean an odachi mora like nioh. Two handded like if it was a greatsword with a New move set.
Seriously we need this. We have the dismounter but its not cutting it. Odachi would rly spice up the Str Arcane roster bc rn we only have Mogh’s prongs and Marai Executioner to my knowledge
i’m kind of tired of katanas BUT I agree that would be sick as fucj I want a str samurai build
meteoric blade is strength scaling
Like Sir Alonne's!
If you want to count it as a seperate type of weapon then BB's trick weapons. Since I finished the game I've wanted them in ER
Something like Simon’s Bowblade would be interesting imo
A twin-blade one handed A bow two-handed
Give me the Burial Blade and I'd be a happy ~~hunter~~ tarnished.
As much as I'd love that, I'm sure they'll be saving any ideas they have for those for a potential BB2.
Colossal flail and please
Honestly I just want an INT scythe like Friede's from ds3
Given what I've seen in the params I expect to see the kusaragami? Ball and sickle thing the vulgar militia boyos use, as well as chakrams like the ones the crystallians use. There’s no rememberance in the game that gives a shield currently, they could change that
Fume ultra great sword!
Weapons that could cast spells/incantations would kick ass
I want nunchucks. With Malenia's cool roundhouse kick as an AoW Also more fist weapons, each with their own martial art movset, currently we just have boxing. They did it in dks2 with bone fist, it had Kung fu moves.
Sekiro had some martial arts combat arts too
Trick weapons, dual catalysts (spells and incantations), and weapon catalysts
colassal flails
Slow down pal we haven't even gotten to greatflails yet.
Trick Weapons No weapon arts, just transforms the weapon like in Bloodborne I see no reason as to why they couldn't do this.
It's a pity the Nox weapons and Urumi weren't like that.
I wish the urumi looked and played like an actual urumi.
Quarterstaffs!
Chain Swords would be a cool weapon type addition.
Nunchucks and shurikens, let’s sekiro this mf!
I would love STR based whip options that are much heavier, something like the Beast Cutter
Ultra colossal sword
I want a tentacle, like that one hunters tool in bloodborne, but as a weapon. Maybe one of the Land tako's tentacles.
Flying Guillotine
Ultra Colossal Greatswords... just kidding. Oh god, Miyazaki, don't! In all seriousness, I just thought it would be nice to get more paired weapons.
