Elden Ring marketing is just insane

DiscoCatDances

Like yellow trees during autumn. So much commitment, just incredible šŸ˜±

St4v5

IRL easter egg wow this game is so massive

Redditfront2back

You sure thatā€™s not a statue commemorating the first time the sculptor beat Elden ring?

[deleted]

Sculptor mentioned šŸ”„upgraded shinobi prosthetic time

BlackGoldShooter

Need a banana for scale

Brain_lessV2

B-b-but muh Berk!

flipperkip97

Aww man, wish I knew about this before. Went on vacation to Norway last year and totally could have visited this.

Joa1987

Where did you go? This is in Stavanger

flipperkip97

Stayed in a bunch of different places in the Southern part of the country, so definitely could have gone through there.

RedLightMidnight

Woah no way they made Limgrave into a real place?!

HextARG

I always thought there had to be something else with the swords in the game...something hidden but apparently not.

ThatAardvark

Berserk drones in shambles

bot_not_rot

Made in 1983 btw

MoonlitSpud

Not totally sure why this was deleted? Seemed like a pretty cool reference to share to me.

BrokenEagle55

Can confirm. They are called sverdi fjell. Lovely translates to mountain of swords and are to commemorate the battle that unified Norway

Joa1987

Sword in mountain.

Synthoid_001

Walk up and the lore written on it is ā€œHere Sir Lionel did battle with Godrick, heir of the Golden Lineage, and did thoroughly dunk on his ass lol,ā€ or some shit.

DudeMiles

Amazing.

Crimson_Scare_Crow

The real DLC was here all along!

iamafancypotato

Ah yes from the time giants ruled the land of Norway.

Captain--UP

I can't quite figure out if these are 5 ft tall or 500. Can someone help my brain scale this?

skep90

yes, it have been said for two uears already

Sjieni

There's also the Hill of Swords in Berserk, which I always thought were used as inspiration for Elden Ring. The Norwegian swords in the pic also look very similar to some of those in Elden Ring!

GodwynsBalls

Berserk fans trying not to compare every single detail in Elden ring to Berserk challenge: impossible.

syopest

If Miyazaki knows the true origin of statues like these he found that out after he saw them in berserk. Nobody can deny the influence of berserk in the series.

MoonlitSpud

I think these look more like the ones in the game than the hill of swords, and also is in commemoration of a battle.

MoonlitSpud

There is tons of Norse mythology and symbolism referenced in Elden Ring, (including everything from the Erdtree itself to runes and tons inbetween). Not everything is a Beserk reference.

fitzgizzle

Bro use ockhams razor. Did you even consider ockhams razor?

wise_1023

mmm ock ham

IsraelPenuel

There's even the option that it's both at the same time. Also, Berserk took from Norse myths. On top of that, artists often try to seek the inspiration behind their inspiration so From Soft might have reached for Norse myths because they inspired Berserk first.

MoonlitSpud

Beserk does indeed have a lot of Norse mythology and imagery in it, including the World Spiral Tree etc, so it could be a combination for sure. But the look of these and the function that they serve in game I think definitely ties closer to Sverd I fjell. The idea that the art directors didn't find an image of these during their research feels unlikely to me.

Unlikely_can877

Godwyn is literally baldur

Duncmod

Oh and someone said ā€œgreetingsā€ when I spoke to them in Elden ring, that must also come from Berserk. Also when you ride torrent, got to be based on that horse in Berserk, donā€™t even get me started on how most characters in Elden ring have hands and feet, you know which characters also have hands and feet? Thatā€™s right the ones in Berserk! Ancient cultures like the Norse and Celtic speaking peoples mustā€™ve been sat down reading Berserk a thousand years ago for them to get such tales and stories in their beliefsā€¦

Brain_lessV2

Next you'll tell me that Berserk invented the concept of a big sword, or winged helmets, or sexual assault.

CE94

It's more likely that berserk was influenced by real history too, so whether or not the reference in the game is from berserk or real life doesn't even matter

JezalDanLutharr

Jesus Christ not everything is a berserk reference.

BrokenEagle55

Haha yeah, I'm still working on learning Norwegian
