Big Captain Ahab energy from Igon.
"Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering ~~whale~~ dragon! To the last I grapple with thee! From hell's heart I ~~stab~~ shoot at thee! For hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee!"
Definitely feels like the fight is a big homage to Moby Dick: an angry guy missing limbs takes the fight to the big angry animal what took his limb from him, using harpoons to take him down
Kind of like how the Astel in Yelough Cave in the Consecrated Snowfield is a big homage to At the Mountains of Madness
I couldn't have beat that fight without >!Igon!<
Plus, how can anyone not summon him after >!his kind request to grant him a dying wish?! Also fuck Bayle, his moveset where he flies into the air shooting crotch lighting rockets and then sumo slams you always made my frames drop from 50ish to 10, resulting in SO MANY DEATHS.!<
Honestly I couldn't find it until i watched a YT video showing exactly where it was. I'm used to them being outside the arena so I figured I'd messed up somehow
Yes. Yes. Yes. Totally agreed. Loved how he was screming at him the whole time and I was like "Yeah man we take him down".
I'm not done with the DLC but this Fight was the Highlight so far.
Sad I won’t experience this. Killed Igon when I first met him thinking that he was in pain and I had to put him out of his misery. 😔 Seems you can’t undo this.
Is Igon supposed to show up there? I’ve already found the boss but he disappeared from his original spot, kind of worried I progressed too far and blocked off his questline
I made a new guy for the DLC and made a personal pledge to my self to not summon anyone or anything for the entire base and DLC just me and my Greatsword., I broke that pledge for the epic voice acting. It was worth it.
The people who are dead bent on not using summons don’t really care about narratives, lore or exploring the game in detail. They’re in it for the challenging 1v1 boss fights, which is perfectly fine imo. That’s what great about ER—there’s something in it for everyone.
I mean... I care about the story but also like to solo the bosses. Summoned Igon on my first attempt and then didn't summon again.
Quests are generally unaffected by whether or not you choose to summon npcs. Like Nepheli for Godrick, Melina for Morgott, etc. Summoning them doesn't change anything
Seems like some of them in the DLC do actually matter.
Apparently you can get a different outcome of one quest based on whether or not you summon the NPC for Messemer.
Unsure, sorry.
I would **guess** yes it needs to be a win, but not need to survive. I'm not 100% sure that what I read was correct anyway, and if so what the difference even is.
CURSE YOU, BAYLE!
I HEREBY VOW YOU WILL RUE THIS DAY!!!!!!!!
YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE MADE FLESH!!!
BEHOLD, A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR! AND I, IGON!
YOUR FEARS, MADE FLESH
The guy that VA'd Igon needs a raise, that man was more committed to those voice lines than I've ever been to anything in my life.
pure cinema I loved it
Big Gyobu energy.
The passion and energy into his acting is phenomenal

His arrows are even called harpons

also how he exclaims how Bayle's fighting a true drake warrior. and Igon. he calls YOU a true drake warrior
He gave me warm fuzzy feelings inside just like Boc did when he called me "my Lord"
He turns Elden Ring into an episode of Ed, Edd and Eddy
I missed his summon sign until my 3rd try
Honestly I couldn't find it until i watched a YT video showing exactly where it was. I'm used to them being outside the arena so I figured I'd messed up somehow
The summon is easily one of the biggest giga chads in the series, the conviction in his words is award worthy

I dont summon unless it seems a quest thing. Im so happy i summoned this fella. Idk if it was mandatory but he really wanted it.
Same for me. How could I refuse someone's wish for revenge when he suffered so much.
not just in bayle's fight. summon npc invaders at least once in each fight because they often have great dialogue
Sad I won’t experience this. Killed Igon when I first met him thinking that he was in pain and I had to put him out of his misery. 😔 Seems you can’t undo this.
I almost did that but I washed to play it safe
What is wrong with you people killing NPCs...
Igon is a LEGEND
Love that smelly fucker
Is Igon supposed to show up there? I’ve already found the boss but he disappeared from his original spot, kind of worried I progressed too far and blocked off his questline
did you kill the two fighting dragons? if so talk to igon there to get his finger. his summon sign is in the boss room
Ahhh ok I was wondering why I couldn't find his sign, did not think to look around the arena when Bayle insta charges you on site
its like 6 to 10 feet in on the left side.
I did not, thanks for the help
His sign is inside the arena
Ahh that makes sense, tysm

I hated how every time you zoned in you had to dodge and run away from the fire or charge. Zero chance to summon/setup.

Wow good to know. Do you know if you have to summon them on the attempt that you win? Do they have to be alive at the end?

I am sort of sad that I one phased bayle thanks to his awful poise lol. Just had igon with me and bayle only attacked twice.
Awful poise? I have been running 2 collosal hammers and he didn't stagger once when I fought him
What weapon were you using?
