They’re all safely back home now. They got spooked while on regular exercise and got lost trying to find the way home. They are currently being attended by vets and the soldiers who fell are in hospital being checked out by doctors.

The grey looked to have a lot of blood in its chest and under its barrel- any news on the severity of injuries to that horse?

kellervalentino

No official statement has been made, most likely a flesh wound and all the running they did, 6 miles def gets the blood flowing. I’m sure an official statement will be made by the household cavalry soon.

I saw a video glimpse where the white horse was severely lame on his hind… and that with all the adrenaline going. Usually the lameness comes after… I think it’s pretty severe and hoped to find more detailed info if it needed to be put down or not…

The household cavalry has an on site veterinary team along with a team of farriers, I’m sure they’re receiving the best possible care. Those horses are very well looked after xx.

I remember going for a ride on the beach once. I get that it's nice to see a beautiful horse run, but I was struck how clueless people are about how to behave around horses. Londoners aren't famous for their empathy and patience, and it wouldn't surprise me if they were part of the problem. That said, those horses are majestic. I'd love to ride one one day.

The hustle of London certainly takes for getting used to, and part of the reason why they take the horses out on the roads is to help train them to this. It’s just a freak accident really, they got spooked by builders which happens but it’s important to note they are all safely home and being looked over.

This is sort of what bothers me when I see horse people treating horses without the proper respect for what they are.   These horses are highly trained, some of the best trained horses in the world. "Bombproof" gets overused, but certainly "military marching band proof."    If these horses can spook, your golden boy or girl can spook too. I'm glad they're safe home

My mare once side passed across the street when she spooked at construction noise. I didn’t even realize what a great side pass she had.

Living in London, most people would just be getting out of the way. City is bustling but generally they still get excited when they see a horse, a seal or other animal. The vehicles hit seem to have been mainly parked up at side of road and the fact the horses walked away reflects that. I hope the 4 people (including rider) hospitalised all make a good recovery too. Considering two of the horses covered 6 miles in a panic, I'm quite surprised at how little damage was caused.

I don’t think it’s a lack of empathy- most people unfamiliar with horses are scared of them when the horse appears to do something strange. Huge galloping out of control horses covered in blood galloping wildly would frighten most people. I saw some video of the where you could see people in the background running away in fear. There was video later of one of the horses that apparently had been caught by a person, and a group of people (presumably urban city dwellers who didn’t know what else to do) were standing around it all quietly petting it together. Actually very sweet and empathetic.

Trust me, motorists in London are high functioning sociopaths. It's not the pedestrians I'm talking about.
