Holy shit I've never seen anything this extreme. Just think of it like this; why have gear fear when you are financially in a position where you could die 100 times in a row (on a PMC) with only minor losses to your bank account, there is no "risk". You need to think of scaving as means to use a PMC. That's what I assume was the purpose of playable scavs. The ability to lose everything, and still not be completely fucked for the rest of the wipe.

Icarus_Le_Rogue

Seriously, I spent the better part of a week tanking my KD and finances running factory with armor but only M2 sword to get the make a notch achievement lol. This guy has nothing to worry about.

trekkin88

Its a combination of things really. I used to mainly play scav, and I have to this day very little understanding of how to play the game efficiently and successfully as a pmc. Some of the randoms were amazed at how much money I had accumulated just by scaving, and how much more I had than them, while being an objectively worse player. Not only do i get anxious about bringing in any worthwhile gear on my pmc, going in as a scav also reassures me because not EVERYBODY is out to get me. For the most part I get to choose when, and who I want to engage, if at all. I still get anxious when I pick up really good stuff, but as a pmc my anxiety is through the roof on the loading screen lol.

laptopaccount

Here's how I got over my fear. Commit to dying in the raid.  Equip yourself with some good shit and just commit to fighting as hard as you can until you die. Eventually you'll have the kind of fight that leaves you shaking from adrenaline when it's over and you'll be hooked.

YaBoiCalin

You don’t even have to commit, just accept the fact you’ll PROBABLY die, and go for loot areas and enjoy the PVP that’s guaranteed to come. I’m constantly at 5m roubles or so but slowly building stash value. I never go in with less than tier 4 armor and mid tier+ ammo, when you die it takes a lot of money but getting out I’m usually stacked.

NanashiDoesntCare

Just remember it’s a game. That’s how I got over my gear fear cuz tf you letting a game control your emotions. Now go get kappa soilder🫡

AccuracyVsPrecision

Anyone who thinks money=skill doesn't really know tarkov. Not having enough ammo or kit to do what you want is an issue but anything over 5 mil is enough and you can keep your money in whatever type of storage you want it doesn't need to be a big number at the top. Bitcoin/Ledx/Key cards are all mor compact ways to store cash than having just stacks of trouble to balance out.

BlazinAzn38

Also this stuff will just be deleted at the start of the next wipe anyways so why not get enjoyment out of it. Like if you worked for a month and got paid but had to spend it all before the month ended or it went away you’d be pretty good about spending it

Defiant-One-7172

You already know how to loot. So now you realize how easy it is to make money

PINKU_PINK

But heavy pmc is loud + easy target + extract is across the map. I become pvp shy whenever i have a couple shinies in my bag :(

Defiant-One-7172

Only way to defeat that feeling is by running it back

Bucser

Only important items are you quest items. The rest can be found again. Also you can do loot runs in the lull of 10-30 minute of the raid when the boss farmers left and the scavs haven't spawned in yet. Just because you run your PMC you don't have to PVP. (I also get that as a scav you don't have to worry about AI scavs)

khswart

Just start running labs, you get numb to the “oooh shinies!” Feeling because they’re everywhere and the pvp is next level on that map.

flaccid_reflex

9400 hours and doesn't have time to play...

Mr_MakeItHail

How do you have gear fear if you don’t run your pmc??

Dynamic_Ducks

Gear fear so extreme they dont run PMC

Staltrad

They check under their bed for their PMC. Can’t be too safe

boomstik4

That was me my first wipe, I only ran scav so I didn't have to play pmc and lose gear, I only played pmc when my friends were on

Familiar_Audience655

The real question

NoroGG

Men will literally spend over 9000 hours on scav runs before going to therapy.

bryjan1

And says he has no time to play the game haha

jmenendeziii

but they go to Therapist plenty

Dirkden

This has to be the craziest thing I've seen on this sub lmao

_mending

You would be surprised how many play the game like this. They refuse to play unless in a squad and when they don't have a squad, they scav off cooldown and use cheap kits when they're finally on their pmc. Haven't you noticed how bad the ratio is between actual pmc raids and scav/rat content is on this sub?

will_past

No way you’re saying that you rarely have time to play and you almost have 10k hours with 700 raid this wipe. I play 3-4 times a week for 3-4h each time and only have 400 raids. Lvl 43. And go out and kill something haha

khswart

Has over 1 year worth of game time “yeah I don’t have time to play much”

TheFinalStorm

9.4k hours?! WHAT DO YOU THINK ALL THAT DAMN MONEY IS FOR? Gear just boils down to money, if you have money, don't worry about the gear. Like I'd understand if you were new/poor, but fucking nearly 10k hours dude just play the damn game. 😂

RedditTrashTho

You have an undisclosed anxiety disorder, of I was a betting man

bertos55

Buy 5 of the exact same gear set, gun armor rig and bag and keep running that and replacing the parts you lose. Then when you unlock better stuff, sub in the same gear. Eventually insurance comes back and then you have too many of the same gear and it becomes redundant.

Shoddy_Site5597

Dude you have enough money to run whatever the fuck you want for like 275 raids straight at the bare minimum, just play the game however you want

Joshybeast93

Bro I think you might have an actual anxiety disorder. This is very unusual behaviour. Playing PMC is the only way to actually progress in the game.

dayzgod686

Join our discord I will help you lose all that gear brother

luiskingz

Idk what else to tell you but to waste it. You have way too much money to have gear fear still lol which usually is a result of losing money. No clue why you got it like this or maybe trolling? Lol idk but go die!

dMerchh

why even play the game at this point?

theyork2000

I don’t believe you when you say don’t have a lot of time to play if you have 300+M rubbles.

Agreeable-Eye-3351

Disclaimer I skipped this wipe and have 1200 hours. You say it's a time thing but is it really? When I was playing aggressive most PMC raids were between 10-20 minutes. Get in, do stuff, get out. I don't think I've ever had more than 20 million, which was my first wipe. Is the time argument a justification for gear fear? Run out the kit you have on and see what happens. Then keep doing it. I don't know if it's possible for you to go broke at this point. One thing g I did mid wipe was delete everything, including money. Just start over PMC only. PMC money runs became my scav runs, and I had more fun in them.

Occyz

Wtf, 9000 hours with gear fear? I could never

CookinMusic

Change your perspective about the ‘loot’ in your stash. They’re just pixels. And they go away every 6 months. It’s not your loot, it’s just your turn to borrow it.

6ucksinsix

U need to just spend that money on guns and get out there and start blasting. Buy the components to build bitcoin and distillery to start printing more $$ if ur worried about that. U can buy pretty much anything in the flea, what’s there to be afraid of :) Edit - to be fair I am technically a scav main by definition (I’m like 48/52 pmc/scav raid ratio[just over 1000 raids]) but it’s my first wipe and I did a ton of scav raids to learn the maps. I also appreciate the casual nature of scav raids and if I only have like 20 mins I’ll hop on for a quick scav. Keep in mind there’s no right or wrong way to play the game. Who cares what Chad says. However if u want to progress the ranks u gotta take the jump and start raiding as PMC more to earn the elusive XP.

Hunlor-

Bro just play the game, losing gear sucks but not being able to kill mfs because the gear you needed to kill/survive was molding on your stash suck even more You won't be able to spend that 300kk even if you die 9 outta 10 raids, most of your shit come back in insurance anyway. On the same note, 300kk is useless if you don't have LL4 traders so burn some money on those quests, play with guns you'd like

f24np

Just think of all of the potential improvement in your gameplay you’re wasting by refusing to actually play the game

sudonickx

You're not dealing with gear fear as much as solo anxiety. Jesse has a decent [video](https://youtu.be/Vbo9c10VWdY?si=Ww0-lO0WutCuvDu9) on it but basically the best way to get through it is just to send er. Find a decent mid tier load out you can default to and keep loading in. If you're surviving 1/3 of your raids that's actually not too bad. Focus on one task at a time and try to think of death as progress. Learn something from each death.

mimzzzz

The fact you don't have pocket watch done, a quest doable with just a half broken pistol in under ~5mins tells me one thing - you are too scared to play on your pmc in general, which is crazy considering your hours. You need to accustom yourself to the fear as eventually it goes away. How? You do it by never scaving. Even when new wipe hits, you don't scav but go again and again on pmc. Even with 0 cash, no gear, no backpack, no rig? You still go on your pmc armed with whatever and progress from there, you are only broke at the start of the wipe and then gear is abundant. You only begin scaving when you are in need of fir lab cards for quests, but this too can be avoided. You will have 5+ rep from just doing the car on pmc so you will get the cards quickly, easily <50 scavraids. That's the whole secret to it, by playing pmc only you will go into different mindset and gear fear will eventually go away. You start playing with low tier stuff and some point you start to realise it's better to bring in your better/best gear to increase the odds of surviving.

Far-Sell8130

lol

NexxZt

Wtf this can't be serious. Literally just put your gear on and press play

Mr_MakeItHail

Can you post the rest of your stash please

chaawuu1

triggering

Dynamic_Ducks

What i did was purposefully go and die (fight until die) towards end of wipe. I had about 30mil, ran a ~800k loadout each time. I just load into my comfort map and kept going to gunshots. Literally just desensitized myself with dying. Whenever im afraid, i just say yolo and push the enemy. With that much money, you can just play it like a PVP. My gear fear used to come from me being too scared to die and fearful of PVP. I got rid of it by purposefully burning money by seeking PVP and by convincing myself gear was meant to be lost and everyone else was worse at PVP than me.

ScavAteMyArms

>My gear fear used to come from me being too scared to die and fearful of PVP. I got rid of it by purposefully burning money by seeking PVP and by convincing myself gear was meant to be lost and everyone else was worse at PVP than me. It also comes with learning what gear is easy to lose and what ones actually sting. Losing T5 armor hurt for me till I found a GAC plate and mitosis’ed it to infinity. Now I run Thors with T5 all day and I could care less about losing it. My advice is to build loadouts that you do not care about dying with, then run those till you face/fix problems that make you increase the loadout. I used to run Daypack sized bags until I had one too many moments where I was choosing between two good loot. Then my standards became a Ana minimum. Used to only run AkUB’s because I had the ammo, now I got PK high enough to unlock 556 and M80’s / the various SMG calibers I am running those guns. The Armor got upgraded when infinite T5’s became a reality. Helmets remain ratnik because fuck paying 100k or more for a ear covering T4, especially one with Nightvision capability. Ears used to be M32’s until I realized TacSports aren’t much more expensive. Find ways to get things cheaper too can help a lot. I don’t care about losing my M4 build because it’s like 160k max with both sight and supressor using the Prokill barter as a base. Or just convert a raider M4 on the flea or a ADAR into a fresh one for ~16k by buying a lower on mechanic. Aug has a decent barter too, though you will need to source the sight and supressor. Ratniks are basically nothing because of the bleach barter. Glock barters can get you good red dots for 5k or less, that Prokill barter gets you a Specter and Supressor for ~20-40k (gun in full sells back for 120, without those it’s around 90). Salewas can be bought for ~25k using the barters. You can get decent supressors as well with their barters, the hat one, the raven one, the ram one. Once you have 2-5 loadouts (depending on how much your stash can deal with) you can just go again real quick. I find the less you gotta think about it when your in the grind the less you care and the more the fear erodes.

Uniform007

You can’t “miss” or “lose” something you never had brother *Edit CANT*

Fmpthree

Go play arena a bit. You need to get out of your own way my friend. If you feel like you lock-up the moment you are about to be engaged, then the goal is to change that from “oh no I’m about to be trapped with this guy” to *this guy is trapped down here with me now* Play play play. Don’t worry about the number going down. That number is by no means a metric to measure your skill level. And also, it’s just a game.

shakenmanchild

Scav main brainrot

OK_1M_REL0ADED

This is top tier shitposting with a huge side of humble brag. I see you.

FleiischFloete

Play with a fixed itemset. Get yourself your favourite weapon, your favourite scope on it and run only that kit. (aside from a shotgun kill quest for example) Upgrade that kit here and there when you progress with the vendors or play with friends.

Excellent_Pass3746

Dude this is wild. Nobody likes this answer but it really is the truth. Just do it. Load up your PMC and play, die repeatedly. There isn’t any risk, you need to die 300 times in a row with a million ruble kit to go broke. Thats not going to happen!

christryhard

This isn‘t just gear fear - I think you are simply too anxious to play PMC in general. You gotta ask yourself why you play this game to begin with. I like scaving because it‘s chill and fighting PMCs alongside AI can be fun. But I also like building cool guns and fighting players so I tend to balance PMC and scav runs. I have about 80m in cash and lvl 43 and currently burning it all on my PMC not caring much about loot.

Apostle_of_Fire

Bro wtf. Play your pmc. You could lose half that money and still have more than you can reasonably spend on kits. Sure you might lose a bunch in a row sometimes, but you need to spend it. It is meaningless just sitting there. You need exposure therapy, use it and lose it, and then you'll stop losing it as much. That's when you git gud. I'd say seek help, but I suppose that's the point of this post. So, get out there (on your pmc) and do the stuff.

JimmyJazzz1977

After 9400 hours there is still gear fear? Grow up man, those guns are just some pixels

Salsius

You never own anything in Tarkov. It´s just your time to carry it around for a bit. Evenutally it´s time to pass on it to someone else in need, and after a while someone might give something for you

Klemicha

Just run the PMC man. The more you run him, the less gear fear you will have. Those rubles wont help you if you dont do anything with them. And you probably wont even loose a lot. Also i am calling you out on not having time in this game. You have way more hours (over 8000 more) and also way more raids than me this wipe and i am almost lvl50. And i have a lot of free time right now. Meaning you have to have more.

TheRealJamesHoffa

Just go to factory, fight, die, and do it again 20 more times. The gear will feel meaningless after a handful, which is where you wanna be. And the good thing about factory is you get in and out quickly, as opposed to waiting around up to 15 minutes building anxiety between raids and then having to hope you run into PVP, or more realistically hiding and avoiding it.

GaryMcsBaldPatch

Sometimes in life, we have to to grow a pair and then put on our big boy pants. Everyone has some element of gear fear, but yours is the worst I've seen. You've so much money that losing your gear doesn't matter anyway. Plus, you're missing out on what makes Tarkov such a great game i.e. the highs of extracting after completing a tough quest, or killing and looting some stacked PMCs.

J3RICHO_

Brother what the fuck, I like scavving too, but this is unreal

cammyk123

You literally said it in your post. You have nothing to show for it by the end of wipe. What are you holding on to this stuff for it disappears every ~6 months. Also 9400hrs and no time to play... lol..

xRUSHERINOx

I am sorry my guy you are lost cause.

starystarego

Buy multiple sets. Loose them. Rinse and repeat. I run sets with tuned mdr with tier 4 armor as a cheap option. (200-250k).

hiyaii

The thought of not progressing my pmc stops me from even using my scav, focusing on tasks and leveling your pmc more and money less. You have enough of that to use whatever you want, really.

SwerveDaddyFish

Bro this is so extreme there might be something going on outside the game. You could put gear in your bag and drop a full kit for a random person, and then die and lose your kit 100 raids in a row and you'd be fine.

vpforvp

You could die multiple times a day kitted out and still have more money than most people. I have about 1/10 of your rubles and I take out mostly expensive kits, have bad runs where I die multiple times in a row, and still will make money that day somehow. So keep that in mind

Familiar_Audience655

302 mill and gear fear. Okay.

DeclaredPumpkin

That's crazy dude lmfao..

chotchcowboy

Quite possibly the saddest thing I have ever seen. This is worse than being a no lifer.. 9400 hours.. of hoarding gear you don't use... for it to disappear at the end of the wipe. That's over a year of your life.. wasted

incognito_subreddits

First -- you're lying about not having time if you made all that money on scav. Second -- literally just play. it's the only way to get over gear fear. maybe you won't be scared after a while, maybe you still will. if you don't play you'll never know. at the end of the day it's just a game that has zero impact on your real life so why let it have that kind of power over you. go lose a bunch of money and good kits on purpose so you realize that it actually doesn't matter. maybe that'll help.

TigerCarts2

how the fuck do you wait that long in between each raid

Glittering-Edge4976

You can get 5 minute scav timer

TigerCarts2

I am at 14 minutes and some change and I have intel level 2 and 2.14 rep how do you get it to 5 minutes

yankeesfan14

I'm only Intel 2 but max rep at 6 and change. My timer is 7 minutes.

Rumiraj

Hideout management skill, do different crafts in your workstations to grow it.

aponderingpanda

Intel 3 is how you get 5 minutes.

Constable_Sanders

pathetic.

No-Yogurtcloset-9643

How do u have 300 m ?

Mr_MakeItHail

Wow

dayzgod686

Raynes world is that you ?! Buddy I’ve been looking for you for months

SpaghettiIScheese

run to every gun shot you hear.

ExplorerEnjoyer

Just get used to losing it. Bring your best gear, it’ll sting at first but you’ll get numb to it after a few raids of losing good gear. Especially when that good gear often helps you get other people’s good gear!

DJIsher

I stopped having gear fear after I hit 10 mill and went back down to 100k from playing PMC only and dying, lots. 4 hundred and fifty million sitting around doing nothing but increasing because you only play scav is the biggest waste in my opinion. It all goes away at the end of wipe anyway. But hey, you play how you want. But since you’re here asking. The only way to get rid of gear fear is to use the gear. You already know how to loot and how easy it is to make money through looting. Use that knowledge to play PMC. You’ll only need to learn PMC extracts and how to PvP, which you already probably have enough great gear stockpiled to roll through some players. But you’re probably in a position where it will feel bad to play PMC because your PMC doesn’t have any levelled skills. Your scav is stronger and has better stats because you scav so much. I dunno. If you just like seeing your stash go up, I can’t really stop you. But the only way to lose gear fear, is to use the gear. Unlock traders and it becomes way easier to justify to yourself using good gear, because you can just buy it or craft it. Instead of only finding it in raid or buying it off the flea. **Edit: I just realized that you’re level 29. Did you get to that level by doing quest hand ins? I thought it was ridiculous that I got to level 34 with mostly raid exp. I barely quested this wipe and have been playing PMC a lot more than my first wipe. I barely quest because I find them meticulous, hyper specific checklists and I’m not the greatest player.

mxlths_modular

You’re always going to lose it all. The pleasure is in the using of the gear, not the owning.

LengthinessNew6326

My go to saying when talking myself into doing a solo pmc is that “ I’ll always have a head start before other scavs”

Sito_ongttv

Realise its just pixels on a screen and it will all be gone at the end of the day, that 100 hours of scaving will be gone wether u get tapped by a cheater/scav or the game wiping and taking it all away. Have fun with it, play with a group if u need, best way to get over it is to do like 3 games in a row where you just bring the best gear you have and chad around, no camping only w keying every fight, u either win or die.

_sealy_

Just spit balling. Each time you play, play as a PMC with a nice load out and when in you die, scab for the rest of the night until you play another day. One PMC a day…eventually you’ll want to try a second and third…

ExceptionalBoon

You can run hundreds of raids with insane gear. Probably more than you can do till wipe.

WeevilKnevil69420

You don't

NatesDaName23

Lowkey like scaving so I can take someone else’s gear into war. Sure I mainly only use grizzly but besides that nothing is a must have. I kill a pimp then use their kit in my next pmc. 30 mil don’t even build guns or anything

kyle-wall-puncher

It’s not your stuff. That simple

Theguy5621

Two things 1) The game isn’t about having stuff, it’s about what you do with it. So run the good shit, you’ll have a lot more fun. 2) it’s okay to loose gear, gear is just stuff, you’ll always get more, but you won’t get back the minutes you spend, so make sure you spend them well.

bryjan1

The fear of losing gear is costing you gear every raid. You could’ve doubled your stash by now. You have a positive KD as a scav, imagine all the loot you’re missing out on because you have a cheap kit. You will extract more with more. This isn’t like a thought experiment, you are losing gear. It’s like someone who has a million dollars and just keeps it in a savings account, they are losing money. You already have a permanent nest egg, you can reliably profit as a scav. You literally can’t go broke.

monsteras84

Set yourself the goal to lose X millions worth of gear every night. You still play your best, but now you know ahead of time exactly how much you will lose. No surprises, no gear fear. It's just facts. Today you will lose X millions. Do this for as many nights as it takes. Finally, you reach a point where you just play.

A1KMAN

honestly, you have 300m. you can keep running mid kits if youre scared about losing money, or just go straight meta kits and not die nearly as much. at first youll probably die a lot and not make profit but you will make some back every so often. seriously if i had this much gear fear, i would just send nonstop runs on a map youre most comfortable with, with good armour and like a low recoil smg or rifle or something and just get used to dying. just find a kit you like worth like worth 500k+ each and run it 100 times or something and see how much you actually lose at the end of it. just invest 50m of your 300m that will be gone at the end of the wipe anyways. i guarantee you you will probably end up profiting. the first 20 or so deaths may be rough, but you will soon realize you can make that back x5 just as easily in a single raid. sometimes youll survive like 5-10 raids in a row with the same kit or upgraded just from killing other players and youre making it out with at least 500k+ every time. thats an easy 5m for a 500k kit. youll get over the gear fear. it just takes time. seriously theres no point in having 300m+ roubles and whatever the hell else you have hoarded in your stash if youre never going to use it. the gear isnt yours, its just your turn to use it, have fun with it brother

SheepOnDaStreet

you could literally run meta for the rest of the wipe and never run out of money.

A1KMAN

True but hes got gear fear, as soon as he sees -money once hes gonna go back to scavving

xCALYPTOx

It's getting deleted come wipe time anyway. Might has well let it get deleted cuz you used in in raid and died.

ap02103

The loot isnt yours, its just your turn with it! This helped me be fine with losing stuff and just hopping back in

snipezz93

Rule 1: That's not your gear, it's just your turn with it. Lol also with 300m you got nothing to be worried about

Rolo-CoC

Just play scavs. Do what you enjoy. There's nothing wrong with being a scav main it's a big part of the game.

WishingWolf

Play factory 50 times in a row. You're quickly learn it's not your gear, just your turn to use it.

6francs

No gear no fear, i run my scav gear as a pmc. And hope for the best

callm3fusion

The game is gonna wipe anyways and you're gonna lose it all. Fuck it. End the wipe with 0 rubles and no stash, min max the fuck out of it.

Ok_Road_7342

I lose 9 out of 10 times I go into a pmc raid. First wipe and I suck. But you just reload and jump back in

Retroficient

Let's put it this way. Scavs are your income generator. PMCs is your expense. If you play the game to simply get the most money, then scav only. If you actually wanna kill people, spend money

bruhgetitonpc

One thing that really helps me was thinking" it's not mine I'm just holding it for now"

SheepOnDaStreet

I think start by being a pmc main, maybe try larping as a scav on your PMC.

Screwby0370

If you lose it, you’ll surely find it again… or buy it again. That’s how the game works, and that’s how you overcome gear fear.

SithLordMilk

Just send it bro

Yasstronaut

Vodka

Lowbloodshuggy

You have proven that you can print money as a scav. Any gear you lose, you replace. You get out of gear fear when you realize that when you die, you just go again. And after losing 2 or three kits in a row, take a little break and scav it out.

BigChunch

Bro your average life time is higher than my Pmc average. You got more time than me 😂

jefe1226

I got over mine by just slangin that thang. Pulling out my hog

Yorunokage

Just die a bunch and lose your best gear Bite the bullet and play your best or almost best loadouts for a day or two while trying a PvP quest or while going for kills so that you aren't allowed to just hide As soon as you'll experience losing good gear a bunch of times you'll learn not to fear that

Fat_Kid_Hot_4_U

You'll lose everything when the game wipes anyway.

LreK84

It's not gear gear, it's time fear 😉

Hakiki999

Buy 5 of the exact same loadout, with everything from the gun and rig down to meds, mags, and ammo ready to go. If you die you toss on one of the exact same loadouts and you go again. You never died, that's just a false memory.

darealmoneyboy

holy, 9k is insane. just run factory for 1 week straight, you HAVE to push the spawns. no excuses. after a few days you wont care no more + you'll see that losing 500k roubles is nothing, with that amount of money in your bank. good luck

Savings_Mountain_639

The way I got over it was to use my scav runs to acrue a bunch of money, around 7 mil. Then I stopped selling scav gear that I could use as low low tier gear up go into PMC raids with. I felt like if I don’t care about dying as a scav with this gear then I won’t care as a pmc. I still use cash on headsets, goggles, a few attachments here or there and I don’t use the shotguns right now because they’re not the greatest, but most other things besides pistols I’ll stop selling it and the meds and just go in to raids with it to get a few kills and hopefully get a bit better stuff and extract. I don’t care if I die but I do like to get at least a kill or two first at least. I do also scav a lot of good ammo so it helps a lot actually, saving money and also having stuff that I wouldn’t be able to buy. That helped me get over it and start buying better gear for raids but I do still bring in scav gear too to lessen the burden on my wallet but still get level progress and maybe work on tasks.

XaZa_Real

My gear fears you...

XaZa_Real

Fuck i wish i had 300m+ im at the most ive like ever had at 23m and i feel fucking fantastic lmao

Ritual_Abuser

You are avoiding your PMC out of fear of failure. You need reps to gain that competence

ArcaneMitch

You're gonna die, and you're gonna lose the gear. When ? No one can tell, so go and find out. If you have gear fear, sacrifice some of it, to realize it's not that bad, put as much gear as you can put on, load a up a game, pull a grenade and die with it

Sheckelmcfeck

Everything is FIR…

plariks

I would suggest - start running cheap pmc gear. Armor - paca. Gun - kedr. Cheapest helmet and headset. Bag you can get from killed scav.

[deleted]

Money = overcoming fear This is your strategy. If you played fully kitted PMC every raid and lost every kit to death. You wouldn’t even be able to spend all of that my wipe time. Play your PMC. Do not touch your scav until next wipe.

Montie7899

a flir on a pkp… that’s gotta be a first

juzstrafe

get over gear fear by bringing your 125kg pilgrim full of all kind of useful nonsense. two wipes i did that one time each wipe by accident because i thought i was loading into factory with scav and loaded quick ready status. boi i was panicking when i wasn't able to run let alone walk in the first 5 seconds of deploying. that's when i realised it's not my loot, it's just my turn to use it.

ID0NNYl

Your a giga Timmy 😅 just try and die more doing pvp, only way you'll learn. Swing first and chase shots. You'll die a heap but you'll get a kill from time to time and build confidence. With experience you'll die less, and when u die it may not hurt as much because you'll know what to do next time, or what not to do.

The_Keeper24

Umm having over 300 mil will easily cure gear fear you can die 100 times a row and pay to replace your gear every death. You’re crazy rich, just get out there

Gold_Law_5854

Just sell ur account

Maxspeed24

Don't let the game upset you think oh well have fun rebuilding your kit

Beautiful-Animal-372

Rarely got time to Play, how did you make it to +9k hrs?

Beautiful-Animal-372

It's all just godd*** pixels, why do people refuse to acknowledge that

Lastilaaki

>Scav main here, how tf do you get over gear fear? Timmy here, you get over it by accepting that whatever you take with you on a raid is gone and that whatever you do in that raid, make sure it's a learning experience. Ps. I'm never getting over the "quest item/hideout material found" type of gear fear, though. I could have sworn I almost fainted while running through Woods with Jaeger's letter.

Killerwolff67

Well I’ll tell you what’s I told my buddy tonight, what’s the point of playing those game to get the best gear if you don’t use what your worked so hard for? If you want to build your stash up to 300+mill then get wiped in 6 months for nobody to care and have no joy using your best gear then why play. I’d say you wasted 10k hours of your life being scared to lose loot in previous wipes when Nikita alt+f4 your past stashes after 6 months. Just take some good gear & play it smart not every raid is a win and that’s okay. Just try to get a squad of 2-3 people for good comms and have fun use injectors like it’s candy, use and craft the best ammo you can or buy if lvl 4 traders

MolagAmur

Easy. Make it a "challenge" to see if you can lose 100mil in stash value before wipe happens by gearing out your PMC. I'll bet you can't. And hey, if you do then you still have 200mil to lose. Also, better gear doesn't just make you a better player. I have 5k hours and my most consistent weapon is still a minimally kitted ADAR. Just use whatever works. You don't have to go all out on a kit to do well. Gear is just a buffer. Lastly, how can you have gear fear when the gear isn't even yours. Nikita will take it all back from you when wipe happens :)

anteloop

You don't have a Private Military Contractor, you have a Private Military Container for your loot.

Helian7

The gear on the scav isn't yours until you extract.

mcbergstedt

Step 1: run PMC with what you want. Step 2: Sell good gear that you’re afraid to lose and buy more mid gear You can do a lot of damage with a basic AK-74U setup. Good ammo and good strats do more than good armor and guns (to a degree)

swanlevitt

So you play scav and then wait 30mins and then go again? What kinda Tarkov edging is this?

NickOdinSonTV

And I thought I had gearfear 😅 I do 2 scav runs before I do a PMC run just to warm up. Now my stash is full and I cant loot anything else. (It says 42 mil worth of items in stash)

CatFucker-

Go into Labs with 1M kit minimum Spam until you go back to 0

Acceptable-Fall-3856

Wow, that’s alot of time to still have gear fear

Primegam

Dude you're like a god at making roubles. Just use whatever gear you want from 100M to 50M and when you hit 50M get back to 100M again.

CorruptedSG

This really is some gear fear lol but honestly, clear half your stash and when you have nothing to do for an hour one day just make full kits for yourself and have them sitting. Mags/heals in your rigs etc and just go chase fights. Die lots and then do it again, it'll come and the rush you get from good pvp in this game really is unmatched

-Teseo-

Calculate how much you earn on average in a scav raid.Tet your gear to that amount of budget, and run your pmc with that. When you die, It will be nowhere near crucial to your budget, as you can just scav again and earn worth the same amount. Happy tark'in =D

DrXyron

OP, so you have insane stash value and plenty of gear, its all good you like to scav and collect loot. What are you fearing? That you’re going to die? If so, make a kit you’re ok with losing. Like basic comtacs, class 4 armor, slightly modified AK and medium ammo like bp or bt. And just go on maps and don’t rush to your task but rather think of a route that gets you there safely. Don’t sit in a bush for 10-15minutes but move move safely. Sometimes you encounter fights, that’s ok, you’re more than capable of fighting with that kit. Do this continuously and you’ll see yourself getting more comfortable by running gear. If you look at it another way, if the wipe is in 90 days, you could lose 4 million of your stash value every day and still have money left over. Remember that wipe doesn’t care how much money you had, it will be gone anyway, so what are you afraid of? Happy raiding buddy, you’ve got this!

MakarOvni

Try this, challenge yourself to build a kit worth exactly the value of the profits from your last scav run. Go a die, repeat. Also, doing the quest and in particularly PVP is a great way to force yourself out of your confort zone.

[deleted]

First of all Just buy stuff buy random guns mod them just waste your money away, buy ammo, armor and healing and stack them. Then you want to get many kits ready like 5-10 and just run them on factory repeat that for a few days and youll get used to losing gear

reuben_iv

Just start using it, once you lose it a few times and learn how easy it is to buy back after a couple of scav runs the fear goes away Wipes are apparently going to be a permanent feature of the game so you lose it either way

huck209

Bro I literally go out of my way to spend my rubles just to run meta shit and once you’re at a certain bank roll you don’t even notice. Why not spend the money it’s gonna be gone next wipe anyways

BlueeyeswhitePIKA

Hahahahahahaha what

TryndMusic

It's just a game, don't be scared thats it. Play your pmc and lose gear like a man. Problem solved

Tactical_Bacon99

For me it took a few good gearsets to get over it. If you have an MDR why run an ADAR. You are just as likely to get head eyes or killed by a grenade wether you are full killa or naked

Infernodu97

That’s fucking hilarious what is going on inside your head ?

Explursions

Literally all it is is JUST DO IT. Force yourself to use the shit. Force yourself to push fights. Eventually you will be less afraid of losing your gear.

Bucser

Whatever you put in your stash is lost already. (It will get wiped). The only difference is if you run your PMC you might get some benefit out of it and not just taking up your stash.

DavantRancher

Bro just play raids and lose shit. Desensitize yourself to the Ls and bathe in the glory of the Ws

LanikM

You just make a rule for yourself. The rule is simple. You always run your best stuff and you don't worry about running out of money until you're close to running out of money. If you die, you do it again. And again. And again. If you don't have any rubles I understand the fear. If you have rubles what's holding you back?

AnotherNoteToSelf

Man, if you want to play some PMC rounds I am always up for a group. I play roughly 1:1 PMC to scav, unless my PMC dies before my timer hits...which happens...

ContentiousPlan

The best I can say to you is that it's not about the gear. It's about the journey. Gear is just a tool. Death is inevitable, good or bad gear, and you get one tapped anyway. So it doesn't really matter at all. Just enjoy the euphoric depression from playing as a PMC. Some runs you get lucky, but always assume death is around the corner. Oh, and also, never give up. Just keep on going, fellow PMC. You got this.

AzurElycie

Realize that, with 300m roubles, there's very little you can't just pick up again off the flea market or just buy from traders (assuming you have the trader levels for stuff from not running PMC much) That aside why do you have SO MANY Gingys!

khswart

This is THE scav main holy shit. I had a lot of anxiety when I first started the game too, but you seem to have been playing a while. You just gotta start playing your PMC more man. Just know you have enough roubles to buy anything back that you lose, so grind up your traders to be unlock all the cool gear/weapons you want. The game doesn’t open up until you really get them all LL4 and can buy almost anything from them

Loverio

Find other people to play with, people you enjoy playing with, in no time you'll see gear doesn't matter at all, and you will start justifying your hoarding tendencies as ''saving it to play with the boys'' but Eventually it will fade away.

justinhveld

The way I deal with gear fear realizing that it doesnt matter. Gear comes and goes. Especially when you are sitting on 300+ mil. I have about 20 mil in my stash and all i do now is run straight towards shots and pretend im in a round of warzone.

hotboxking919

Run your PMC like it's a scav run

PapaPekkker

Play however you want man. But something that helped me was when I decided to start running a PMC with a friend or 2, and telling them that our objective was to lose a kit. This doesn’t mean go commit self sleep, but push a few more fights, follow gunshots, you know just have fun. You have enough money to go sniping on woods, be a menace on factory with a chad kit, whatever you want. Just be smart about how you play and you will have fun.

Shwastey

Start running your PMC with the same load out your scav just had. It's a way to ease into using gear you won't mind losing because the game gave it to you for free. Doing this and also pushing engagements as a scav helped me get out of that hoarding mindset

Onidssa

It is game. Game not real. Dying not real. Play game make money

ValanTineZ

I have 900 hours and I have zero fear. Just run at the sound of fighting, the more you do it the faster you'll adapt

AXiAMWoLFE

You need to come up with motivation to progress your PMC, motivation that outweighs any hesitation that you have at the character select screen. Something that isn’t mentioned enough is that as a scav you likely know the maps inside and out, but as a PMC what is more important is the state of the map in the first 10 minutes of the raid. Where are the spawns and where do they likely path? Where will they start shooting scavs? Where will they run into each other? Where are hotspots that have PMCs for at least half the raid? It’s usually being unfamiliar with these questions that leaves you wandering into their sights and getting gunned down. Further inexperience with PvP means you are on the back foot for face to face engagements. For the most part it’s all down to experience running your PMC and tackling these scenarios. Understanding PMC pathing and avoiding / preparing for them is what leads to more survives, and more confidence in running PMC.

ex0-

Account lifetime 114 days but time online 10k hours? Wat?

Savings_Opening_8581

Take all of this stuff. And use it. Also you have too many keychains.

TheRed2685

OP here's how I would do it as you to ease into it: Make a cheap preset load out with AK 74u with only a basic red dot, basic level 4 armor w Tarzan rig and one grenade. Level 4 helmet prices might be near prapors level 3 helmet costs at this point so you can grab one of those too. Use pp ammo, 3 mags total, 1 in gun two in rig. Then run day factory and play like it's call of duty at least 50 times with the intention of dying but taking one other person with you. Don't bother looting. After that, use that same kit but with a backpack and a gun flashlight and run interchange, with the intention of just getting into the mall second level. Loot whatever. See how you feel after, you can easily afford this and it's very low risk. You need to die a couple dozen times to get rid of the gear fear bc right now you're experiencing the "Charlie is in ALL the trees" effect. Nobody really gonna steal the kit I mentioned except the ammo. So just insure it if you must. Edit: also start off each day you play with a single scav run for a warmup. Take a deep breath when it's pmc time and get into it.

tenscentz

Dude if you just want to play scav for the rest of your Tarkov career you can do that. Just have fun with the game. If playing pmc is to stressful and takes away from the fun then don’t do it. What I would say is after running some scav runs and making a few million roubles, absolutely juice the fuck out of your pmc and go in raid knowing that you can make the roubles for the kit back in one or two scav runs. Some of the most intense and fun moments in Tarkov are going into night raids juiced the fuck.

Shabib309

Run factory with a paca, SMG and just die a lot. Get used to dying

SpoopyJosh

Your trolling

_Nightdude_

Easy. Spend your roubles. Drop a few million on a gucci loadout. Lose it. Do it again. If you have 300million roubles there is no reason you can't lose 200million playing your PMC. But you most likely won't, instead you'll end up surviving raids and making more money/gear. And then your gear fear will slowly dissipate

CptMartinez

Find someone to play with. Make sure the guy doesn’t have gear fear and make him push you over the edge.

Puzzleheaded-Ad2186

Disgusting. This is not even “small dick” behavior. I don’t even where to start to insult you to pretend that in someway I’m going to make change your perspective. You are diminutive, unworthy. I was having bacon and eggs that I really enjoy having, but from reading this post I’m done. I don’t want it, is getting cold just as your heart, someone without passion, without hunger. 9k hrs in a game and you are so little. Disgusting. I guess I won’t be having eggs and bacon for a while, just so I don’t remember this morning.

UpsetAstronomer

This is definitely an extremist mentality, with all that money I wouldn’t have the slightest amount of gear fear in the world haha. You should commit to running your PMC every other scav run, like seriously commit to it no matter what.

No_Ring2024

I may have a solution for you. The first 500 ish hours I’ve had insane gear fear until undecided to work against it. What I tried was doing a sort of „mini“ zero to hero run where I would load in with nothing but a cheap ish pistol and once I finish the raid I get into the next with gear that I brought out of/bought from the profits of that specific raid and it made me fear less for my gear in that specific time span and in general maybe you try it out and it might help you the sway it did help me.

Revolutionary_Ask931

i salute you bro you're legit playing a different game. I hope the aspergers syndrome calms down...

NotSoFastBucko16

Its been 10k hours dude. If you havent gotten over it yet you aint getting over it now.

spellhaus

Hey homie! I struggle in the same way, and I didn't see the answers that helped me in the comments so I hope this helps you too: You have to train your relationship with failure like you train an atrophied muscle. When you first start that, it's going to feel stupid, or fake, or awkward. You already have a lot of practice with training yourself to fear that loss, and so it will naturally feel counter-intuitive, but I *swear* if you keep trying it, you'll start to feel it, and start to see progress. Small gains that add up so quickly. The only thing that broke me out of the same hoarding prison, out of building a fortress of gear to protect myself from the perceived pain of future loss, was to go lose things. Weirdly simple. I would literally build up a dream kit from the hoard and go "Okay, one of my goals today is to lose this kit." And when I inevitably lost a fight or blew myself up with a grenade or went face down after a single shot from a county away, the first thing I did after the initial sting was congratulate myself. "Got it! That's one down, hell yeah." Train that like a muscle. Repetitions. It feels weak at first, corny or ineffective or sarcastic and false. But the more you do it, the better you'll get at meaning it, the more you'll feel it, and when you do actually feel it, it feels GOOD. Dude the first time I lost a really good kit, and GENUINELY felt no pain bc the raid was so fun, it felt like freedom, like stepping out of that fortress I built, into warm sunlight for the first time in years. Failure is not a pit to dwell in, or a test result that proves anything. Failure is fertilizer. It definitely stinks, but it helps you so much if you let it. I hear a lot of "buck up", and accusatory questions of why you play the way you do, or why you even play. But you know why: cause you love the game. And believe it or not, you're better at it than you think. You have huge map knowledge, you know what sells and what belongs on the ground, you've got stash organization on lock, you've got the controls burned into your reflexes. So take a chance that there is more fun to be had, that it CAN get better, bc no matter what happens, you aren't stuck like you were. Flirt with failure, and treat yourself like a good friend you want to see succeed. There is no greater strength than to learn how to hold loss gently. You got this homie!

ReserveRatter

1. Stop being a Scav Main. Start running your PMC every raid and stop using your Scav until you become comfortable playing as a PMC. 2. Realise you're always going to die as a PMC, many times you can't avoid it, it's literally part of the game. Just enjoy going into raids and playing the game. 3. We're all literally going to die in real life. Nothing in this world is permanent, not even your career or your life partner. Why are you scared about losing pixels on a computer game when nothing lasts forever anyway? Enjoy playing the game while you can.
