Dont forget to keep your dscan open and keep an eye out for other players and their combat/scanner probes because some players can scan you down real fast and have you podded before you even think to warp off.

legoknekten

Never not Dscan in J-space

DamitCyrill

Trying to get the hang of that. Going to try and rush a fast ship and a cloak for running away. I'm a explorer not a tank damit :)

SonomaSky

Rebind Scan to space bar and buy a few extra keyboards.

legoknekten

I rebound it to a more convenient key, since you're gonna be pressing it every 3 seconds :P

OneMustAdjust

v v v v v v

legoknekten

Spacebar, actually :P

Tok3nBlack1e

Never J-space*

DamitCyrill

That is something I'm struggling with a bit all the window placements trying to copy off some of the youtube guides. will get better with time i imagine.

godston34

You can combine different windows into 1 window with multiple tabs. Some things you never need at the same time, i.e. Probe Scanner and Fleet Window, so combine them. Should be fine for space nowadays.

DamitCyrill

ahhh that's much easier thanks

abloblololo

Window placement is just a matter of taste. The most important UI things to set up are first of all your overview settings, to filter out irrelevant information and to make sure relevant info is shown, and secondly local chat. In j-space that doesn’t matter, but in k-space you want to always have local open to see who’s in the system with you.

BoredVet85

it takes awhile of playing before you get things where they work for you

DamitCyrill

Loving wormhole exploration. Profitable to. Very Very interesting game, Went Omega straight away.

themirrorliestoyou

Yay!!! We need new blood!!

samzhawk

10+ years in and exploration is my go to. Extremely rewarding. Death or payday could be waiting. Welcome!

SlamMissile

If you plan on exploring a lot make sure you train your scanning skills to level 4. It will help with everything and gives you 80% of the power in 20% of the time it takes to get level 5 skills. For the mid-term, try to skill into a ship that can fit the covert ops cloak. This allows you to warp while cloaked for safe travel.

DamitCyrill

Any tips on which ship? I'm naively hoping to build a ship that can outrun most enemies and players then cloak.

SlamMissile

Any of the tech 2 covert ops frigates. [Anathema](https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Anathema), [Buzzard](https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Buzzard),[Helios](https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Helios), [Cheetah](https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Cheetah). I prefer the buzzard because of its looks but all 4 are great choices. They will give you much better bonuses to scanning and hacking, they can fit the covert ops cloak, and a full T2 fit + ship will cost you less than 50million isk. Closer to 40 mil. With the cloak, you just have to be paying attention(use Dscan to give yourself a few seconds/minutes warning) as soon as someone else appears in your site, cloak then warp out. You can’t be targeted while cloaked.

DamitCyrill

Thanks going to go cheetah i think

SlamMissile

Excellent choice I would train cloaking to level 4 and covert ops to at least level 3. This will help with your fitting. CPU management, Capacitor management and capacitor system operation skills will also help if you can’t use a fit you like because of power issues.

DamitCyrill

thanks going to try and match this build. need to do a few more exploring runs to save up first. DratsabDrah

Once you've been around for a while the Pacifier is a firm favourite among wormholers but they're pricey due to their combat ability well worth working towards one if you're interested in Wormholes long term. Get yourself into a Wormhole corp as well they'll help you no end

DamitCyrill

yeh that's a great shout sounds like a really fun mechanic having a base of operations in them. looking for a UK based group Thanks

DratsabDrah

I'm UK based myself I usually play late EUTZ however my corp isn't exactly newbro oriented however there's plenty that are so you shouldn't struggle to find one join the English recruitment channel in game and explain you're looking for a UK Newbro friendly Wormhole corp and you shouldn't have to wait long until a recruiter or 2 get in touch. Don't worry when they ask for character information access that's super standard for any corporation

DamitCyrill

Appreciate the advice

bulksalty

The buzzard and anathema have what I consider to be the better bonuses (lower scan deviation means fewer scans to find everything) and the buzzard has more midslots than the anathema (and all the scan improvement modules are mid slot modules or rigs) so its got some additional reasons to be the best. That said, they are all very good ships, and there's no reason not to train into the one you like for any reason. Personally, I'd fly an anathema even if it were the worst one because I love Khanid ships and I spent a lot of quality time with magnates exploring. I like my elephant face looking ship.

Az0r_au

Well done for not just going the typical Hisec carebear or nulblob line member route and actually going out and exploring (heh heh) what this game has to offer. It's a much steeper learning curve but you'll experience so many more unique situations that will teach you valuable lessons.

alivesidhartha

Have you already visited a wormhole with the black hole? You'll like it!

DamitCyrill

Not yet. I've ended up next to a place call The point of no return. 3 dead civilizations 'frozen meatbags' floating about (bodies which i found hilarious). Looks like the races wiped each other out or went full Icarus . Weird dark matter accelerators only thing left in one piece. Can't believe I've never played this before. Been a very very long time since ive played a game that's been difficult to switch off making me tired for work the next day :)

Dozornui

Just fyi - standard stellar map doesn't work in wormholes, you're going to see 'point of no return ' every time you open it while in

sltyandsweet

It's always refreshing to see a newbro marvel at the game

Subbeh

There's 'still' undiscovered landmarks in game (pretty sure up untill very recently, CCP Swift confirmed on Discord iirc).

handwavium

Welcome to Eve! Don't fly what you can't afford to lose.

handofmenoth

Just wait, keep scanning and one day you may find the moving tribute to David Bowie :)

MuteyMute

I loved that... Hung out when I stumbled over it, orbiting the thing and playing Major Tom... Someone s been cuttin onions in the house that day, I swear...

JFeezy

You can drag your modules around to make them F1-F5 or whatever. I think you hold down shift to actual move/stack them? Helps a lot and reduces a bit of clicking.

any-wormholes-a-goal

Yes I’ve heard it called a game and allegedly there is fun involved.

nvandermeij

ah the black monolith, been a long while since I've last seen that one If you like exploring, go find a shattered planet or visit new eden ;)

WarPig262

Never heard of it before myself. Is it some drifter stuff?

nvandermeij

The black monolith has been in the game from the start. There is quite a bit of lore behind it, just google for it ;) It can be found almost anywhere, from anomalies, to gates, to planets, relic sites, missions and more. New Eden is a system in Eve Online with also quite a bit of lore behind it. More info about it can be found here: [https://universe.eveonline.com/lore/new-eden-cluster](https://universe.eveonline.com/lore/new-eden-cluster) . Ingame there are i believe quite a few sight seeing spots with interesting landmarks: >!https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/New\_Eden\_Tour\_Guide!<

Exilierator

Welcome to Eve. Make sure to check out the university wiki. https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/The_Magic_14 here's a link to the basic 14 skills in the game for every ship and remember the 80/20 rule for eve. Skills at level 4 provide 80% of the benifit for only 20% of the time needed for level 5.

zixradoom

Welcome to the game, I am glad you found an activity you enjoy. I have always found explo to be a fun distraction when I get tired of other content.

thegreybill

Have you found out about Alt+F9 yet? ;)

Lucian_Flamestrike

Ok... who got turned into the Space baby?...

Prodiq

Keep exploring, there is another awesome RL thing that can be found with exploring. Much, much rarer though. I have seen it only once ingame.

cohesive_dust

great job!!!! and like others said...always have d-scan window up and spam "V" on ur keyboard...never stop.... ... my neighbor reported me to child protection services for the torment I have imposed on my poor V key.... been pounded into an unrecognizable troll...I call him Golem\_v2

MasterGamer9910

Heya! I'm into helping newbros, if you want any suggestions, tips, advice, or 1 on 1 training time, hit me up thru reddit or my ign "Jacob Vilianas"!

DamitCyrill

Appreciate the offer.

ivan_aran

Oh god know this feeling unfortunately after you will understand most of eve it's just normal MMORPG game :( no magic anymore

Puiucs

Exploration has been my go to activity in eve whenever i wanted a change. :)

Alki_san

Mmmmmm fresh cherries :D

Raven944

Quited eve 4 years ago after a long long jurney and got my life back 😂 Best memories ever in gaming. part of Newbros Test Alliance .( Dunno if they still going on ) The game will eat you alive and still give you glimpses of eternal joy. Smash those rocks and blow those ships!

Grouchy-Ad9850
