Kind of the closest so far, but wrong World War. This one is a ’what-if‘ historical film, but rather more serious. (The painter does also appear in The King’s Man iirc)

*Rock’n’Rolla*?
Nope
Velvet Buzzsaw
Nope
As Good As It Gets?
No, although that was what I was hoping some one would go for.
That's some good bait. Well done!
In this film it’s the art dealer who is assaulted.
Glass
No. It’s a period film.
The King’s Man?

The connection I was making is that Hitler is an assassin in the movie and something makes him want to launch WWII
He is the painter in question, but he is not an assassin in this film. Earlier than the King’s Man but after 2000.
