On the tv over there is a woman with her breasteses hangin' out, and you ain't even bother to *look*. You just been clockin' *me*... Now I know I'm pretty. But I ain't as pretty as a couple'a titties...
"Oh…Johnny, I apologize. I forgot you were there. You may go now."
"I have two guns, one for each of ya."
"I'm your huckleberry."
Classic line after classic line. What a performance.
I just watched this for the first time this week. I don’t know why, but I missed this at the time it came out. (Instead, I remember seeing Costner’s Wyatt Earp. Boring.)
But Val Kilmer is so *watchable* in this film. I’ve never seen a performance like it. It is really stunning.
Stephen Graham as Tommy in Snatch (he's originally from Liverpool, has a Scouse accent, but his Estuary accent is flawless to the extent the first time I heard it I did a double take)
Brad Pitt as One Punch Mickey in Snatch
Toni Collett in the Sixth Sense. She put on a very convincing Philly accent, which is tough to get right, hell, a Philly accent isn’t even that well known. In movies, ppl from Philly usually sound like New Yorkers. Y’know, like Rocky Balboa.
Ya know who else really nails the Delco/Philly accent? Lisa Ann Walter in Abbott Elementary. I know that’s TV, buttttttt I literally had to look up if she was a native. It’s such a niche accent that my ears perk up every time I hear it. Just feels like home.
Daniel Day-Lewis, in anything. My two favorite accents are from There Will Be Blood and Gangs of New York.
There are others of course, but he's the one who immediately springs to mind.
Edit: Tom Hardy's Bane also. The whole thing is completely ridiculous but still somehow works lol.
"I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturiser, then an anti-aging eye balm, followed by a final moisturising protective lotion."
When Renee Zellweger was cast as Bridget Jones many English people were so upset because she’s American. Then the movie came out and she got a lot of praise for her accent. Think that deserves some props!
Especially Keanu! Between that and his French accent in Dangerous Liaisons, it’s the gold standard of how to make everyone think you are from California. Right up there with Costner’s work in Robin Hood!
This is just a more recent one but Jodie Comer in "The Bike Riders" goes absolutely ham. Like... Borderline takes away (or adds??) to the movie by how just comical it is. It was definitely a bold choice.
Man on the Moon - Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman
There Will Be Blood - DDL as Daniel Plainview
Fargo - Frances McDormand as Marge Gunderson

Tom Hardy and Jodi Comer in The Bikeriders
Austin Butler in Dune 2 and in Elvis
Daniel Craig in the Knives Out films
Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood
It’s not any particular performance that sells me on Gary Oldman for hands down winner. I was a fan of his from the first time i saw him craft. I’d probably seen a dozen or more of his movies before the first time i saw him interviewed. I remember it clearly because his host, Dennis Miller, had the exact same reaction i did. Mouth agape and a completely flabbergasted look on his face by the end of Oldman’s response to Miller’s very first question he says, “How did i not know you’re British?!”
The man’s voice work is so varied and so good it’s kinda unbelievable. I can’t think of a single other actor who can match his range and accomplishments in that way.
I loved William Hurt's performance as Ritchie in History of Violence so much I kept rewinding his scenes just to hear it again. The accents he puts on words are so interesting
I saw nope over the weekend and I thought Daniel Kaluuya did an amazing job in that roll his accent was on point, my wife didn’t believe me when I said he was English.
Brad Pitt in Snatch is my favorite...
I'm no expert and I believe it's supposed to be kinda exaggerated, but actually pretty good. Pitt actually put a lot of time into it.
I don't really know though. I just know it's my favorite.
Oldman all day long
It ain't white boy day
On the tv over there is a woman with her breasteses hangin' out, and you ain't even bother to *look*. You just been clockin' *me*... Now I know I'm pretty. But I ain't as pretty as a couple'a titties...
Probably my favorite movie of all time
Yeah mine too. The walken hopper scene is the definition of great acting
You're a fuckin cantaloupe
I know I'm pretty, but I ain't as pretty as a pair of titties.
Grew up watching him in movies all through the 90s. Didn’t know he was British until Harry Potter.
Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday with the Virginia drawl. "Say wheeennn"
“It’s a fucking Nocturne…”
You know, Frédéric fucking Chopin
Fun Fact: he’s playing Chopin because both him and Doc have TB. Cool little fact.
Very nice thank you did not know that
"Oh…Johnny, I apologize. I forgot you were there. You may go now." "I have two guns, one for each of ya." "I'm your huckleberry." Classic line after classic line. What a performance.
“You’re no Daisy.” “Ohhhh Johnny Ringo, you look like someone just walked over your grave.”
"Why, Ike! Whatever do you mean?"
I say, 'I know! Let's have a spelling contest!' All. The. Time.
You're a daisy if ya do.
Why, you're no daisy 't'all.
McMasters: Where's Wyatt? Doc: Down by the creek... *walking on water.*
It’s a Georgia aristocrat accent. Very similar but not VA
Agreed
I just watched this for the first time this week. I don’t know why, but I missed this at the time it came out. (Instead, I remember seeing Costner’s Wyatt Earp. Boring.) But Val Kilmer is so *watchable* in this film. I’ve never seen a performance like it. It is really stunning.
Doc Holliday had a Georiga drawl. Not Virginia.
He’s from Georgia
Stephen Graham as Tommy in Snatch (he's originally from Liverpool, has a Scouse accent, but his Estuary accent is flawless to the extent the first time I heard it I did a double take) Brad Pitt as One Punch Mickey in Snatch
You like dags?
Graham also pulled off a perfect Brooklyn accent playing Al Capone on Boardwalk Empire. I knew he was British, and I did that double-take as well.
Christian Bale is so good most people thought he actually was American. Now that’s some dedication
Proving your point - I was like “why is Christian bale in this list.” 😂
I was like “What ‘voice work’ was there in American Psycho?”
He’s terrifying in American psycho for just how he delivered lines.
He did keep up the American accent in a lot of press for the movie too
Reading your comment taught me that he's not American. I had no idea.
I was watching the extras for one of his movies and I was like “why is he using that accent? (his real voice)”
In FvsF I was like, “Wow he does a really good English accent!”
How in the hell is Hugh Laurie not on here?
True. I had friends who were convinced he was American.
Idris Elba's American is top-notch.
I would have never guessed that Stringer Bell was played by a British actor.
The only thing is in Pacific Rim he had like 15 different accents 😂
Daniel Day-Lewis, in anything. My two favorite accents are from There Will Be Blood and Gangs of New York. There are others of course, but he's the one who immediately springs to mind. Edit: Tom Hardy's Bane also. The whole thing is completely ridiculous but still somehow works lol.
He based Plainview's voice on John Huston
Matt Berry, Matt Berry andddd Steven Toast (played by Matt Berry)
Can you hear me, Steven?
Yes, I can hear you, Clem Fandango!
YES I CAN HEAR YOU CLEM FANDANGO
Ah yes, you mean Jackie Daytona!
Hemsworth in Furiosa
You fabulous thing
Did you see the interview of how he came up with the voice for it?
Yeah based off his grandfather’s voice, which was nasally and had a certain rhythm
Frances McDormand & William H Macy in Fargo
YESSSSSSS
drexyl no contest
"Have a seat, boy. Grab yo self an egg roll. We got erythang from a diddly-eyed Joe to damned if I know."
If you’ve never seen Jodie comer in killing eve, I highly recommend
Who or what is a Drexel?
Gary Oldman’s one eyed Willy
You must think it's white boy day.
Sean Connery’s Spanish Egyptian accent in *Highlander*
Sean Connery’s Russian accent in *The Hunt for Red October*
Keanu Reeves - Dracula A timeless classic only matched by Dick Van Dyke in the seminal Mary Poppins.
For a British person watching *Dracula*, I imagine every time Keanu speaks they shift uncomfortably in their seat and consider leaving the room.
Daniel Plainview
Dr. Strangelove!
I think Dev Patel in Lion is about as good as it gets for an Australian accent
I’m trying to think of other actors who have nailed the accent like he did, but I can’t think of any. He obviously put in a lot of work.
Kate Winslet’s Aussie accent is superb.
What movie is top left from?
That’s Gary Oldman in True Romance
Thank you! Remeber this movie many moons ago on the black box and never knew the name. You are a life saver.
Benicio del Toro in The Usual Suspects is my first pick. There are few performances that rival it.
Gary Goldman as a Rastafari Drug Dealer.Love it
John Lithgow's crazy OTT Italian accent in Buckaroo Banzai.... "a-laugha while you can, monkey-boyyy! "
Robert Duval as Augustus McCrae in Lonesome Dove.
Peter Sellers. Pick any one of his films. Guy was an absolute chameleon of an actor.
Johnny Depp in Finding Neverland was well done I have to say.
True romance is my favorite movie but I wouldn't put Gary oldman's "accent" in it anywhere in my top 10. It ain't white boy day is it
Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg Gary Oldman in The Fifth Element
I’m Irish, and Brad’s Pitt’s Pikey in Snatch gets me everytime.
All of AustinPowers by Mike Myers
“Ve vill breed zee animals and SLAUGHTER zem!”
DDL as Daniel Plainview is pretty outstanding
Peter O'Toole, Ratatouille.
"There Will Be Blood." Daniel Day Lewis channeling John Huston. Just incredible.

Billy Bob Thorton in Sling Blade
Shocked to see no one say Daniel Craig in Knives Out
The German accent really makes me feel... Heil!!! Sorry, I don't know what came over me..
Honestly Kenneth Branagh as Sator in Tenet
True Romance is still an all time best. Plus that Walken/Hopper scene…..unreal
"I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturiser, then an anti-aging eye balm, followed by a final moisturising protective lotion."
Robert Downy Jr in Tropic Thunder.
Jodie Comer - The Bikeriders
When Renee Zellweger was cast as Bridget Jones many English people were so upset because she’s American. Then the movie came out and she got a lot of praise for her accent. Think that deserves some props!
Leonardo DiCaprio - Blood Diamond South African accent is my favorite!
Daniel Craig - Glass Onion
I heard his slip quite a few times in that
That’s exactly it, it’s so bad that it’s great!
Al Pacino /Tony Montana
“Heinging around, heinging around…thees boy hez alligator blood.”
“Pyay dat myan hees munney”
Which Gary Oldman film is that?
No spoilers, but Anthony Quayle in *Ice Cold in Alex* gives an incredible voice performance.
Natalie Portman Idk just the way she throws her accent when she's doing British scratches the itch in my brain
Every accent in Bram Stoker's Dracula
Especially Keanu! Between that and his French accent in Dangerous Liaisons, it’s the gold standard of how to make everyone think you are from California. Right up there with Costner’s work in Robin Hood!
It is so rare to not hear an American accent seeping through when acting English, but Renee smashes it
Brad Pitt's Italian accent.
Cillian Murphy as Robert Fischer in Inception
I thought Eiza González’s British accent in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was pretty good.
Idris Elba
Mrs. Doubtfire and Forrest Gump.
Is it white boi day today?
DDL in Gangs of New York. WHOOPSIE DAISY!
I thought Kate Winslet's American accent in Titanic was very realistic and impressive
Shout out to Kenneth Branagh
Tom Berlnger: Staff Sergeant Barnes.
Benicio del Toro as Fred Fenster in Usual Suspects. “He’ll flip ya, He’ll flip ya for real”
“I’m an oil man”
Not a great movie, but in *The Buthcher’s Wife* Demi Moore nailed a very obscure Ocracoke, NC brogue.
The Spaniard Jean Connery in Highlander.... spot on Spanish.
Fronk in Father of the Bride “Moster and Mooses Bonks and the lovely bride hello!”
Benicio Del Toro in The Usual Suspects
How is Bane not on here 😆

I just admire UK actors perfectly pulling off American accents. Are they that easy to fake?
Brad Pitt's jamaican in Mighty Joe Young :D
Kate Winslet in The Mare of Easttown.
Gary Oldman is unrecognizable in many roles. To this day I’ll watch something I’ve seen a million and one time and he like oh shit that Gary Oldman!
Christoph Waltz.
Robert Pattinson does GREAT voice work.
Basically anywhere Emily Blunt plays an American.
Anything Gary Oldman!
