I know that these "jacked-up" rigs seem to be popular, I struggle with how much it blocks access to those physical buttons I'm using all the time. If you're only powering the camera and a monitor, you can do so in a much smaller form factor that makes life easier if you have to run and gun and go on-sticks or off-sticks. If it works for you, then more power to you. Personally, I'm rocking a handle-mounted clamp that holds a 10,000mAh battery pack that will operate the camera for 4+ hours with only a single thin USB-C cable. It's got 3 USB outputs, so I can run my SmallHD monitor from it, albeit reducing my total run time. The battery was $30, cable was $6, and SmallRig battery bank mount was $23. So less than $60, and it's hot-swappable.

I agree. You need the buttons unless it’s just sitting on a tripod. I don’t get how people operate with these rigs that limit access to them.

Edwardmedia

I have full access to all of my buttons and plus they usually sit in my custom menus. I am not changing them that frequently too. I also like the weight since the ibis in the fx3 just doesn’t feel natural. I have it on sticks just for the photo.

gtzmedia

All the buttons are actually accessible with these rigs, that’s the beauty of the design. Which buttons do you mostly use, that aren’t on the top or on the side, which are accessible? You’re rig sounds very sleek - what is handheld mounted clamp? It’s not v mount is it? Would love to see your rig. I am actually considering g a cube like this for a few reasons. Def not for run and gun though…

Abracadaver2000

Older photo, not showing my rig with a monitor attached. But you can see the cable routing, battery mount and not a single button being blocked. https://imgur.com/a/03TLP9C

gtzmedia

Cool. What is mounted on the top of the handle above the battery pack?

Abracadaver2000

Sony UWP-D wireless receiver, the side cold-shoe mount (and 1/8th inch cable) is for the DJI Mic receiver.

gtzmedia

Right on

CrazeJuju

Now lemme see u run

Edwardmedia

Being fit is a plus. But it isn’t that heavy! It’s about 10 lbs

darthaddie

I can’t run with that gun 🤣 Good rig though!

No_Possession_508

How fast are you running with that and for how long? 😂😆😂

Edwardmedia

It’s not that heavy. It’s only like 10lbs and as long as you’re fit you can carry it for a solid 4-6 hours a day.

chanslam

How you liking those remus’s

Edwardmedia

I love them! I’ve used sirui and laowa and I’m very impressed with the Blazar’s! I think the characteristics of them are more “vintage” like.

chanslam

Yeah they’re the only brand I’m convinced by. Not a fan of Sirui and Laowa characteristics in comparison.

Edwardmedia

A lot of people I work with say they are similar to some panavision lenses.

LegumeFache

Nice rig. What's your opinion of the lens ? What are its strengths?

qwertydoors

How are the Remus lenses with that camera? Thinking of trying them.

Edwardmedia

They are lovely! The characteristics of them are so much better than something like the anamorphics from sirui or laowa. Would love to have an open gate shutter but the fx3 does a solid job with them imo (for the time being)

qwertydoors

Yeah, seems about right with what I've seen. I'm eyeing them for a project with the FX6, Thank you for your answer.

Fabulous-Succotash88

Idk what you tell me but this looks goofy as hell.

Edwardmedia

Ok
