I have realized I also really like addressing mental illness in my writing (particularly anxiety, depression, and/or PTSD) and giving the character(s) support and help without any of the insta-fixing I can’t stand. Like I don’t want to erase those things, but I sure as heck want to give my characters help to deal with them.
GORE! GORE! BODY HORROR! it always finds a way. one minute I'm writing a self-indulgent hurt/comfort crossover and the next the MC has been infected by a slow-acting parasitic fungi that kills you, blooms in your throat, and then puppets your corpse around until it decomposes.
It's a minecraft fic. why am I like this.

In Voltron fics, a lot of found family stuff that they seriously missed the mark on in Legendary Defenders. Voltron Force handles it a lot better. My interpretation of KL friendship came from Voltron Force.
Well, people use the idiom of 'flew like a brick' to describe something big and heavy that's falling. But you can throw a brick. A strong arm can get some good distance with a brick.
A fully stocked vending machine on the other hand... well, those are quite a bit heavier than a brick. They do not soar, they do not fall with style, they just plummet, and then crash in a rather spectacular, chaotic fashion.
So it makes for a fun analogy when I want to describe something that's experiencing a sudden and catastrophic case of gravity.
Parent - child (or parent figure - child) feels and platonic fluff. I also love pulling the Platonic Writing, Romantic Reading schtick with pairings I may not ship, but I'm interested in their dynamics.
