This remains the work I'll recommend to the most people. Fallout (any) is not an especially super-powered universe, so I understand if it doesn't meet what you're looking for. But I think it's a very well-written story with a (male) OC MC, 150k completed work.

Interesting, I've never actually played any of the fallout games as I was always more of an elder scrolls kind of gamer, but I'll check it out
