Doesn’t fenders website cover all their serials?

GrainMaester

Just Figured it out! "Serial number: JD16006691 Production year: 2016 of 2017 Made by Fuji-gen,Japan" Fender, Yamano and Kanda Shokai end the Fender Japan joint venture on March 31, 2015. Fender took over the Japanese business effective April 1, 2015. So its a made in Japan but only under fender. Sure hope they keep pumping such great guitars, as well as those crazier models the Japanese branch allways had.

The Japanese Fenders are known for being very well made instruments. They all command a fairly high price these days. You used to be able to get them for a few hundred bucks. I got a 52 reissue with Fender hard case for $400.. ten years ago. I’ve seen the same ones on reverb for $1200 and more.

GrainMaester

Very true. I am trying this one out from a friend to get the feel before buying. Hope he makes me a good deal. Hehe

2016, Fuji Gen. Really excellent guitars. I have an 85 Jazz bass, easily as good or better than the American made one. I remember that color of yours. Yeah a super Strat. Just look up all the stuff with google. Or go to fender website. Or Strat Talk dot com. Every single bit of information about that guitar can be found if you look around. Just do it and find out for yourself.

I had a Japanese strat from the mid 80's that was amazing. It came stock with an actual Floyd Rose tremelo. Definitely good quality.

GrainMaester

Awesome! What color? Always loved the finishing of the Japanese paint shop!

[deleted]

Candy apple red. It had one of the smoothest playing maple necks I've ever seen. I traded it about 10 years ago for an sg. Still kicking myself.

GrainMaester

Awww beautiful. I have to get my hands on a SG! 💎

It’s a knock off…. The serial numbers are always on the back of the headstock, wether it’s fender or squier

Japanese models will have it in either location. Depending on year of manufacture and/or guitar model.

Actually these neck serials are a characteristic of the Japanese plant, "Made in Japan" was printed from 1982 to 1993, then they switched to "Crafted in Japan" to highlight the autonomy and freedom of the partnership to create new models exclusive to the branch. Since 2015 it reads again "Made in Japan" since the partnership has ended with Yamano and Kanda Shokai (the japanese partners).

Not true at all. Even the earliest Fenders had the serial number stamped into the neck plate or the bridge.
