This right bastard from KOF 2000.

Edit: it’s kinda wholesome that one of the many things bringing us together are the KoF series’ arsehole bosses.
Skullgirl Marie/300% Marie in Skullgirls. Even if you find the strategy to cheese her out, it's still just a long, frustrating and boring battle of attrition.
I beat that guy by going to my homies house with the whole crew there ( it was like five of us) . Three of us picked our best fighter and used them individually on the team. That was the worst boss fight I've ever experienced.
Kazuya Mishima (Tekken 2 Arcade).
Why? [This explains it.](https://youtu.be/yiITV33FaVY)
And don't get me started on Devil.
https://preview.redd.it/60jcgbl02nyc1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=a0909fc537d842d643ce6139a6a45b9c5b31a9f3
Omega Rugal from KOF 2002 is pretty hard. Just to fight him you have to lose no more than two rounds, and beat one of the Nests bosses with a super, and use no continues. And once you match up against him, not only is he incredibly hard to beat, but you only get one chance, and if you fail you have to run through arcade mode meeting the same requirements all over again.
oh that shit was horrifying, the input reading, the high damage EX moves, the fucking vacuum super. many sleepless nights of 10 year old me on arcade mode
There's a dent in my childhood bedroom wall that I have "lovingly" nicknamed Seth.
I don't rage at games anymore after that (I also don't play vanilla sfiv anymore lol)

The comments section in [Shoryugame Youtube Video -- The Top 10 DUMBEST A.I. / CPU Characters In KOF](https://youtu.be/iTnOpViUEgc) is full of ways to cheese the CPU characters.
Oh my friend there is SO much more bullshit historically: frame 1 input reading, half screen tracking touch of death combos, "RESSURECTION"... fighting games have a long history of people yelling at the screen "wtf was that?!"
Check out Maximilian's "Boss Rage" series if you want a good laugh.
That's my pick. She's the only character I've fought in a fighting game where I can honestly say that I never had a chance.
https://preview.redd.it/79zdipiwwmyc1.jpeg?width=1092&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a79db2b84122da53f14b2d5e6a60cdee38fc153
Definitely seconding Parace. Sure, she doesn't have much health on paper, but good fucking luck getting a hit on her. It's like someone put a deliberately overtuned Mugen character into an actual game.
This boss is without question the most unfair boss I have ever fought in any fight game period.
You know a boss is unfair if the game itself has to help you beat her.
And last in AH3LM you have to beat her without the game helping you at all.
That is my pick I swear she doesn’t give a room to breathe or move in , don’t let this Godiva milk chocolate beauty fool you she’s makes Rugal even more preferable choice to fight with .
Magaki from KoF XI. I've played nearly every SNK fighter at this point, and while some may be 'harder' (young Geese from AoF2 comes to mind), none of them made me claim sheer, unadulterated bullshit the way Magaki did.
Saiki doesn't block or ink grab if you are moving backward though. Pick characters with long, fast pokes and play footsie with him (I use Hwa Jai). Or pick Daimon and spam earthquake, he doesn't block low unless you press 2D
I mostly played on Megadrive, but I have the impression that in the MegaCD version you also had to fight the Dark Champion who seemed a similar deal (and Eternal Champion had 5 new forms too?)
Igniz was easy, even with his 110% combo, ALL you had tô do Is make him lose his counter and super, almost like bison in street fighter Alpha 3, Magaki was years light in cheapness
TBH, Stage 9 Nago is nothing compared to the Super Johnny boss fight Testament had in XX I think it was. That motherfucker killed in like 3 hits.
As usual, though, I'm going with a KoF boss. I'd put it between Magaki, Omega Rugal, or Goenitz.
SNK is the champion of this but another choice:
Persona 4 Arena Score Attack - the twist is that EVERYBODY becomes an SNK Boss or rather bosses straight out of Persona/Shin Megami Tensei. It can only take one touch and you're out.
Fighting an unkillable puppet character
Fighting someone with fullscreen ricocheting/tracking arrows that evaporate life bars
Super fast ninja character that can get across the screen in mere frames and unlimited uses of a reversal super
And the first game didn't allow continues.
You can cheat the AI but you pretty much need to know exactly what you're doing
Seconded for Ivan Ooze. His moves made no sense for the game they established. Every character has a street fighteresque jump? Ivan Ooze can just fly around like magneto or storm 100% of the time, nevermind the fact he could just turn invincible for half a second and fire homing projectiles that take 1/3 of your health.
Galactus UMvC3 I guess. I don’t play many fighting games (been meaning to try some more) and it was the first time arcade mode on easy. So I say he’s unfair because I have nothing else to compare him to
Almost beat him too, my team was Trish, Dante and Vergil
Suprised how far I scrolled for this. Granted I haven't played a lot of fighting games, but as a kid this fight felt unwinnable on higher difficulties.
Rugal 2002um. 1 chance only and he can now combo genocide cutters into genocide cutters, cheap AI as usual, gigantic HP and 3 timing kaiser wave with the fist coming out instantly basically.
Capcom vs snk 2 - shin Akuma and devil Rugal are the epitomy of absolute bullshit even on the easiest setting.
In older days in arcades where characters didn't obviously cheat (like SF2 with invincibility and turbo combos and grabs) i remember the original Samurai Showdown and Amakusa. That bastard could one shot you with a fierce if his POW meter was full and could stun you with a medium that led of course to your death anyway.
Finally someone said it
Sooooo bullshit. Oh you want to do damage? nah that bitch invincible while doing the super. oh i know i'll use my super before her so i can finish quickly. Sure good luck surviving her projectiles without faultless defense. Fuck It imma just instant kill this bitch, guess what? you can't. I love this game but fuck this game.
Magaki from kof. That MF was a cheater. Never make an overpowered zoner a final boss, you will never get in on them lol. He had bullet hell cranked up to... About 10, a dp (he needs it tm), a full screen super... It probably isn't the worst ever but he was annoying affff. Rugal felt a bit easier in comparison since he got skill issued by phoenix arrow

MK2, MK3, and MK9 Shao Kahn are all examples of “Did I just catch you having fun?!”
Omega Shenron in Budokai 3.
>seven life bars
>MAX Ki regeneration for teleport and specials spam
>Atk and Def buffs
>some of the longest strings in the game
>you've got about a ten second time limit as Gogeta before being unfused and now you're base Goku again

That final battle against Susano’o in BBCF had me nearly screaming in rage
(KI 1994) eyedol is an absolute pain in the ass to beat, he blocks nearly 80% of your hits and if he hits you once, its 100% gonna end up on a combo that removes over half your hp.y'know whats the best part? if he ends up doing a combo rigth on you, he'll send you fliying to the sky and in that time the mf is gonna heal.
last time i tried beating him, it took me nearly 40 attempts in the easiest difficulty.
https://preview.redd.it/kgwhr0assnyc1.png?width=100&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7be4391aaeaaceaf5ee4eb7308b0a581e5a72b44

No title can compare to the final bosses of SNK. Original Geese Howard for Fatal Fury is one of those that is so challenging that JWong made some contest for money on pros in the tournament to see if anyone could beat him.
Azazel was pretty annoying from T6, I was able to cheese him tho with delayed hopkicks.
Other than that, not really a fighting game but I remember Isaac Frost from Fight Night being an absolute motherfucker.
Cronica tf you mean “I’m a send in a servant to help me” THAT MF HAS A HOLE ASS HEALTH BAR AND IM AT HALF. And don’t get me started on how she freezes you and shit or re-perform combos like GOD I get it your a time god but god dam. And not to mention she can use the surroundings while you can’t !!!! TF YOU MEAN “IM A THROW YOU A HOLE ASS T-RAX” I CANT EVEN USE A FUCKING STICK AGAINST YOU. and the fact she can freeze you mid block like AGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AT THIS POINT JUST KYS SO I DONT HAVE TO SUFFER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Also so you guys know what game I’m talking about it’s MK11)
The entirety of the Galeem and Dharkon on fight on the hardest mode possible, which I haven’t done, but based on my experience with them on normal I’d imagine it’s insane. Also it’s three phases long. You get three characters. Phase 1: platforming with battles mixed in(the platforming is honestly the hardest part of this phase) phase 2: A boss rush. Phase 3: you finally fight them at the same time.
Gargos in KI2/Gold. Frequent combo breaks, an absurd uppercut which allowed him more than enough time to use a move where he flaps his wings to regenerate health, and HAD to be killed with an uppercut for the Supreme Victory, or he'd just stay at pixel health until he did the healing move again.
Holy shit I started playing Guilty Gear Strive for the first time this week and this guy has been destroying me, I thought I just sucked and have only been playing training mode now.
Ino in Guilty Gear XX. Crazy Combos, has super moves, and has a special super move that makes her invincible and if you get hit with it, all the projections goes towards you can half of your health is gone.
That last Super Sayan 2 Goku in mania mode in Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2.
Dude's on steroids, when he enters the arena you know you're about to get f*cked
you have only played guilty gear strive have you. i will name a company, SNK, they have the hardest and most bullshit boos there is (and often time they are hard to get to)
Street Fighter 3rd Strike...Gil
Absolute **bullshit** incarnate
He's the reason why I lost 5 years of my life due to stress and anxiety this guy brought to me at an early age
https://preview.redd.it/s61i72cqavyc1.png?width=240&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f0b6c0ed7fff88d872bea518c8342354254616b
Why do you exist? Why do you have so much health? Why do you only have one round? Just...Why?
MK11's Kronika is one of the worst designed bosses in video games tbh.
You can't combo her as some characters, as she can block in between hits. You can't launch her for a juggle combo. And worse, she can teleport out of your combos whenever she wants, randomly, then perform a 25% combo on you real fast while you're still recovering.
Her moveset is also very frustrating, with multi-hit projectiles that do insane chip damage on block and extremely fast, long ranged normals. She also gains access to unique stage hazards that can be unblockable in her final phase.
To top it all off, you have to fight a (weakened) normal character in between her 3 phases, all on a single health bar of life yourself.
This mother fucking piece of shit. The fight literally starts with him straight up murdering Akuma and throwing his body aside, before he kills you with a single cross up combo
https://preview.redd.it/v25gj4gaa6zc1.jpeg?width=250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2a4d1085eff65af53d9fa4e84ec048eb840f52c
Rugal is still pretty bullshit, especially in 94.
I remember playing arcade, doesn't he have that infinite combo and his Genocide Cutter does like half a bar hp DMG?
Pretty sure he's the reason "SNK Boss Syndrome" became a thing. A tradition they continued into pretty much every KoF
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0PTO1oNWcw&t=1119s shows how to cheese Rugal in KOF '94.
This right bastard from KOF 2000. https://preview.redd.it/vepl30dknmyc1.jpeg?width=699&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c22d89c5292c84380f357c2ef5df65a033fee330 Edit: it’s kinda wholesome that one of the many things bringing us together are the KoF series’ arsehole bosses.
For me krizalid in KOF 2002 UM ( i know he's originally from 1999 ), that guy slammed my ass to wall like dough
Is he a viltrumite?
Nah, he is however a clone of a man who controls light and can absorb objects.
Skullgirl Marie/300% Marie in Skullgirls. Even if you find the strategy to cheese her out, it's still just a long, frustrating and boring battle of attrition.
It’s so annoying on Nightmare, you breeze thru the regular fights just to die to Marie 15 times
Yeah, I just quit arcade mode and restart the thing at that point lol
KOF XI - Magaki Its like playing kof and touhou at the same time
I beat that guy by going to my homies house with the whole crew there ( it was like five of us) . Three of us picked our best fighter and used them individually on the team. That was the worst boss fight I've ever experienced.
The only KOF boss I never beat.
Kazuya Mishima (Tekken 2 Arcade). Why? [This explains it.](https://youtu.be/yiITV33FaVY) And don't get me started on Devil. https://preview.redd.it/60jcgbl02nyc1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=a0909fc537d842d643ce6139a6a45b9c5b31a9f3
Lol Tekken 8 Kazuya doesn't even hold a candle to how hard Devil was to beat
Pretty sure nobody would be able to beat the game if T8 kazuya was as hard as this was
Omega Rugal from KOF 2002 is pretty hard. Just to fight him you have to lose no more than two rounds, and beat one of the Nests bosses with a super, and use no continues. And once you match up against him, not only is he incredibly hard to beat, but you only get one chance, and if you fail you have to run through arcade mode meeting the same requirements all over again.
You weren't around for vanilla sfiv Seth, were you?
oh that shit was horrifying, the input reading, the high damage EX moves, the fucking vacuum super. many sleepless nights of 10 year old me on arcade mode
There's a dent in my childhood bedroom wall that I have "lovingly" nicknamed Seth. I don't rage at games anymore after that (I also don't play vanilla sfiv anymore lol)
That fight was so freaking tough in no fair way. Just needed to figure out how to cheese him and pray you survive.
sf3 gil
If Stage 9 Nago is your pick then you haven't played many fighting games.
Correct, I haven't played many. I'm mainly just curious what other people think.
There's a reason SNK bosses have a reputation of being pure bullshit. If you can, don't look it up and try to fight a KoF final boss.
I was gonna say mk9 shao khan to let them down easy
Man, i remember cheesing shao khan with uppercuts when i played mk9 forever ago!
The final story mode battle with Raiden was literally just run away, wait for a projectile, teleport, uppercut, repeat. Boring as hell, but it works.
Still get Rugal flashbacks...
Those SNK/KOF bosses were designed to be unbalanced input reading nightmares and if you could beat them on first try you were just built different.

You should play +R and fight I-no at the end of arcade mode. That boss is such a pain.
Oh my friend there is SO much more bullshit historically: frame 1 input reading, half screen tracking touch of death combos, "RESSURECTION"... fighting games have a long history of people yelling at the screen "wtf was that?!" Check out Maximilian's "Boss Rage" series if you want a good laugh.
The Arcana Heart series has a pretty bullshit boss fight with Parace L'sia.
That's my pick. She's the only character I've fought in a fighting game where I can honestly say that I never had a chance. https://preview.redd.it/79zdipiwwmyc1.jpeg?width=1092&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a79db2b84122da53f14b2d5e6a60cdee38fc153
Lmao yup. I have never beaten her! The fight is just impossible!
Prohibido jugar con Rugal
general in kaiser knuckles.
The correct answer
Most of SNK bosses are unfair but God damn I had a hard time with Saiki (weird red form) from KOF Xlll. Annoying ass grab attack.
Saiki doesn't block or ink grab if you are moving backward though. Pick characters with long, fast pokes and play footsie with him (I use Hwa Jai). Or pick Daimon and spam earthquake, he doesn't block low unless you press 2D
Go fight gill from third strike
When I was younger I remember losing it when the third healthbar came up
I'm not sure I ever beat him.
The Eternal Champion. That fucker has FIVE forms, and if he KO'S you in 2 rounds, game fucking over. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.
I mostly played on Megadrive, but I have the impression that in the MegaCD version you also had to fight the Dark Champion who seemed a similar deal (and Eternal Champion had 5 new forms too?)
Yep, and both of those bastards were fast as hell
You can name any of SNK fighting game boss, and they will end up in someone's list. There is a reason why "SNK Boss Syndrome" term exist.
![gif](giphy|ZRouJhQpbhPzTJ2eBU|downsized)
What fighting game you playing that's got Vergil as a boss, bro?
Not a boss pre say just a playable character who feels like one . Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Vergil
True. Level 3 X factor Vergil with 5 bars was wild Not as bad as Dark Phoenix, imo
Foolishness, Dante.... foolishness.
Igniz from KOF 2001. I know Magaki is rough, but Igniz is a whole other level of bs.
Igniz was easy, even with his 110% combo, ALL you had tô do Is make him lose his counter and super, almost like bison in street fighter Alpha 3, Magaki was years light in cheapness
shao fucking kahn and yall know which one
MK2 or Mk9? Both of the were super cheap
The extra Akuma fight in Tekken 7 was pretty wack. Especially since you had to play as Kazuya for it
https://preview.redd.it/qwu2h5co7nyc1.jpeg?width=312&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32e32212a03d4c97d3fe7210a8cd28b4f9d3087f Green Jello Kasumi
I was just fighting this bitch, funnily enough On time attack it's just a matter of waiting for that round where you're allowed to win lmao
If I recall that was literally just Gold Johnny without the gold color. One mist finer and you're dead
I remember struggling with Seth in sfiv back in the day
Jinpachi in T5DR. Holy fuck
SNK is the champion of this but another choice: Persona 4 Arena Score Attack - the twist is that EVERYBODY becomes an SNK Boss or rather bosses straight out of Persona/Shin Megami Tensei. It can only take one touch and you're out. Motaro
Eyedol from Killer Instinct always got on my damn nerves
fucking vanilla ice
Third strike Gill can be a real pain in the ass. Idk if he's the most unfair, but his hit boxes and supers are pretty damn lame.
Getting a decent grasp on partying can really make the fight feel more fair.
Most bosses of old KoFs.
Tekken 6 - Azazel and NANCY-MI847J. Especially NANCY-MI847J...
Galactus UMvC3 I guess. I don’t play many fighting games (been meaning to try some more) and it was the first time arcade mode on easy. So I say he’s unfair because I have nothing else to compare him to Almost beat him too, my team was Trish, Dante and Vergil

Seth in SFIV
Rugal 2002um. 1 chance only and he can now combo genocide cutters into genocide cutters, cheap AI as usual, gigantic HP and 3 timing kaiser wave with the fist coming out instantly basically.
U Rugal in CVS2 is some bullshit
Seth, from the vanilla Street Fighter 4.
Nago is pretty easy tho
Does Fight Night: Champion count as a fighter?
You sweet summer child.
The objective answer is Ivan Ooze
Kof 2002 Rugal
# R E S U R E C T I O N https://i.redd.it/2e5p04q4gqyc1.gif
Any tips on beating him? I can’t even beat him on level 8
Throw loop
Exactly this, that’s how I did it just ran up to him and threw him 500x, this was when the game released no idea if they changed it or whatever
This is probably just bc I have a skill issue, but I just can't beat Nine the Phantom and the end of act 1 of the Blazblue CentralFiction arcade mode.
Heard a lot of the old school SNK bosses where a nightmare to play against. Me personally struggled with Unlimited Hazama from the BBCS games.
The general from Dan ku ga (idk if I spelled that correctly. Perfect cell from DBZ supersonic warriors for DS
I want to take you back to the 90’s when arcades were a thing, and we encountered this force of nature called “Geese Howard” 🙃
OP is about to become familiar with SNK Boss Syndrome
Otoma Raga from KOFXV was my first SNK boss and I couldn't beat them without cheating
I was gonna come here saying "any KOF boss". I feel proud that everyone else already did.
The last boss in Rise of the Robots.
Cyber Akuma. Just... Cyber Akuma.
Deidara from Clash of Ninja Revolution 3. "Looks like I've fulfilled my quota, hmph" IYKYK
Pre-nerf General from Kaiser Knuckle is the objective answer
some of those arent even hard. parace l'Sia though
Rugal KoF 94. I'm surprised 6 year old me was able to beat that bullshit.
Please just throw loop him
Personally night terror in soul Calibur. I raged really had playing against him
Bison in Alpha 3. Not only was he hard af but you only have 1 shot at beating him; if you lose it’s game over.
Saying this, probably only cause I’m a sim main, but alpha 2 m bison is the hardest I can fight while still having fun
I’d say ino in GGXX
Finally someone said it Sooooo bullshit.

Devil Jinpachi. I like Jinpachi, but fuck him
(KI 1994) eyedol is an absolute pain in the ass to beat, he blocks nearly 80% of your hits and if he hits you once, its 100% gonna end up on a combo that removes over half your hp.y'know whats the best part? if he ends up doing a combo rigth on you, he'll send you fliying to the sky and in that time the mf is gonna heal. last time i tried beating him, it took me nearly 40 attempts in the easiest difficulty. https://preview.redd.it/kgwhr0assnyc1.png?width=100&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7be4391aaeaaceaf5ee4eb7308b0a581e5a72b44

Try the Goenitz boss challenge in KOF XV
Technically not a fighting game, but I'll add Undertaker in WWE 2k14's "Defeat the Streak". A wrestling game managed to design an SNK boss.
Idk I feel like Eyedol was pretty unfair...

Goenitz from KoF 96 just because its the first SNK Syndrome boss I've faced. King Lion in Battle Coliseum deserves special mention here.

No title can compare to the final bosses of SNK. Original Geese Howard for Fatal Fury is one of those that is so challenging that JWong made some contest for money on pros in the tournament to see if anyone could beat him.
"RESURRECTION"
Lol
You don’t beat unlimited Ragna You *survive*

Samurai shodown, no matter how well you are doing in the round. One hit of super move , you are dead immediately

Lovable Igniz!
Really dumb pick but "Boss" from Fight Of Gods. The only I beat it was by zoning it out until time ran out.
Azazel sucks and so does Akuma
Funny I see this after I was just thinking about trying him again in Strive
Jinpachi. Sometimes, you don’t get to play the game.
Where do i start? Shao Khan, Unlimited Hazama, Rugal, Igniz, Gill, Seth, Boss I-No, Parace L'Sia, Goodman, etc.
Igniz from KOF 2001. He has an infinite.
Needing fuckint like 2 fighters at once to fight this dude
Mk9 Shao khan and kabuto in sage mode from storm 3
Nago isn’t that bad if you’re on the right charachter
Jinpachi from tekken 5 and night terror from soulcalibur 3
You can cheese the fuck out of nago if you keep grabbing him during teleport
Gill from Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. That MFer had me head in hands and cussing in foreign languages I never thought I could
Calus the disciple on legendary difficulty I had to use two exploits to beat him
Gargos in KI2/Gold. Frequent combo breaks, an absurd uppercut which allowed him more than enough time to use a move where he flaps his wings to regenerate health, and HAD to be killed with an uppercut for the Supreme Victory, or he'd just stay at pixel health until he did the healing move again.
![gif](giphy|dstl7cNcQcERwVclF2|downsized) Bonk.
MK 9 shao Kahn still haunts me till this day ![gif](giphy|deRqZuSZOzpGDQTzey)
Order sol in accent core plus r
Shin Akuma highest difficulty T7
If Nagoruki is the most unfair boss fight I think you gotta play more fighting games lol.
The Joker from Fighters Destiny.
Shao kahn from mk9 was my personal hell
I'm pretty surprised no one here said MK9 Shao Khan
There is a particular boss in Skullgirls that is always set on the highest level no matter what level you choose
That last Super Sayan 2 Goku in mania mode in Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2. Dude's on steroids, when he enters the arena you know you're about to get f*cked
Rugal. One shots me repeatedly.
I beat nago by just walking backwards and throwing on reaction to the teleport lol
They call them "SNK Bosses" for a reason. Nago wouldn't even be top 10.
I genuinely don't know what they want me to do about him https://i.redd.it/nbbjs9c41tyc1.gif
Snk is pretty infamous for this. Last blade 2 by the final couple stages the enemies can read every single input and react to them.
you have only played guilty gear strive have you. i will name a company, SNK, they have the hardest and most bullshit boos there is (and often time they are hard to get to)
Devil Jinpachi is worse than anything else here.
Any SNK boss
Ivan Ooze
Shin Akuma in the Alpha series. The one that required a perfect run to face.
Street Fighter 3rd Strike...Gil Absolute **bullshit** incarnate He's the reason why I lost 5 years of my life due to stress and anxiety this guy brought to me at an early age
special story level against Akuma in tekken 7

Stage 9 Nago isnt even the most bullshit Stage 9 boss in Strive tbh That title goes to Stage 9 Ramlethal.

Rugal
Any Arcana Heart arcade boss.
Magneto and justice
"The light of my being, SHALL SCAR THY DNA!"
This mother fucking piece of shit. The fight literally starts with him straight up murdering Akuma and throwing his body aside, before he kills you with a single cross up combo https://preview.redd.it/v25gj4gaa6zc1.jpeg?width=250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2a4d1085eff65af53d9fa4e84ec048eb840f52c
