I saw it at the theaters and is one of my favorite movie going experience. One of the few horror movies that I rewatch.
Edit: FD3 was my introduction to the franchise.
I saw it in theaters when I was 16 (not sure how we got pass the R rated restriction) and it was just when I was getting over my fear of rollercoasters. All over again, my friends had to convince me to get on the coasters at our local theme park.
I love roller coasters and I've watched a thousand videos about how that scene is completely impossible and roller coasters just don't work like that.
But I still get a brief second where my brain goes "But what if just this one time it happened!?"
Yeah, I always feared big roller coasters, like the hulk one at universal. You can’t convince me to go on one now. I was 11 when it came out, and went with my dad, two uncles and their girlfriends. At the time my dad was hesitant to introduce me to horror movies and games, so I had to convince him to let me see it. I said something like “there’s no bad guys in it, just bad luck” lol.
So at some points in the room it would stop and ask you to choose between this option or that once you choose it could either keep the film the same or have the characters die differently or they could live.
I remember when FD3 came out, the imdb forums were buzzin! The posts were 50% writing rpgs of people’s own fd fanfic and 50% debates of, “but but BUT if Frankie gets off the coaster, then his camera wouldn’t be there to cause it!”
The fanbase was so alive back in the 00s, I remember there were some hilarious dubs and parodies on YouTube that I can’t find anymore. So neat seeing it be rediscovered by a new tween audience nearly 2 decades later.
It’s in my top 3 movies of all time, ever since I was 10 when it came out. Such a tonally well made horror movie in its own right. So cool seeing all the Internet react channels loving FD3 too recently.
This one will always be special to me. I was in 7th grade and my friends and I bought tickets to see Nanny McPhee but snuck into this theater instead. I remember us geeking out during the tanning bed scene (pre-roast)
I couldn't handle watching the tanning scene when I was like 11 or 12 but a year or two later I was able to and got to see the choose your path DVD. Love the third one, has one of the best opening death sequences. And the opening credits with the pinball to.
When it came out I stayed the night at my friend’s house and we stayed up all night watching it on repeat, playing stuff on our laptops and doodling in Sketchpads. I will always hold this movie in high regards and it’s my favorite in the series so far!
Will always be one of my favourites! It was my first FD in a cinema - I snuck into it when I was 13 (it was rated 15 in the UK, so only 15 and over). I’d only seen FD2 at this point. I’d been eagerly anticipating it for a year, and on my first attempt to get in, my friends sister bought us tickets - they didn’t let us in as we were too young, and we had to go and see Chicken Little instead. The week after I went to see Big Mommas House 2 with my Dad and sister - and I tried again, snuck out and went into the FD3 screen - and got in! One of the best cinema experiences I’ve ever had. The opening rollercoaster accident was terrifying to behold on the big screen. Every death had me on the edge of my seat, and the audience responded LOUDLY to each one.
I have so much nostalgia for this film and 2006 as a year. Such amazing memories. For years after I edited tons of fan tributes and skits on YouTube under a channel called The180Curse. The best of times!
The movie emphasises that death is not a compassionate thing as it can kill every person from every age because in the previous movie, two children get killed due to a falling chunk of glass and an exploded barbecue grill. And in the same movie, lots of adults also reach their death. For this reason, it is not a "teenager" thing.

I remember being like 14, shaking, when the rollercoaster was going upwards before the first fall down. It was amazing.
Now imagine if you experienced that scene in a 4D theater.
It was supposed to be in 3D, but it was too expensive
same! I was so scared it almost felt like I was on the ride

The hydraulics part is somewhat plausible but not the tracks cleanly breaking

Go ride lightning rod at Dollywood. You’ll have a good time!
Definitely love the dvd version where you can choose their fate.
I have that option on my DVD!

Unfortunately it was just the third
Off topic but best FD intro ever
The whole intro sequence even foreshadows some of the deaths
The first 3 films intros all do that.
Do they? I’ll have to pay more attention next time I watch them
They are quite subtle but they are there.
I love the score of the intro scene! I sometimes find myself humming it like a lunatic haha
The best of the 5, Wendy deserved to live

I miss the IMDb boards.
So much I love IMDB boards
Even if Frankie got off, the hydraulics were already ruptured from squeezing down the restraints on Louis
yea that was the generally agreed upon answer. His camera only accelerated the inevitable.
No better feeling after watching than fearing everything can kill you
I watched 2 days ago, this movie has my fav set of characters from all the FD's
Ian McKinley is the GOAT character
Ian's reaction to Erin dying is a piece of art
Such a great actor
I love Kris Lemche,I really wonder where he is rn
He’s 46 now
Does he still act?
Not considerably but he was most recently on an episode of Beyond the Dark
Is this the one with the girl from sky high? At the amusement park bc if so I think it’s easily my favorite fd
Yes, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is in both movies
me too! just watched it tonight actually

That is the most brutal death in the whole franchise, they did not deserve that

It does have the best intro and I love how it gets straight into it
When it came out I stayed the night at my friend’s house and we stayed up all night watching it on repeat, playing stuff on our laptops and doodling in Sketchpads. I will always hold this movie in high regards and it’s my favorite in the series so far!
It was one of my favorite movie theater experiences
Favorite after 2 The train scene at the end 🔥🔥
A beautiful film. Well worth a frequent viewing
Why the 3rd one?
In my opinion it’s the best usage of the overall FD premise
Adore this movie. Ian McKinley my ❤️
One of my fav movies!!
Love this movie, haven’t seen it in sooo long though. My fave of the franchise

That’s awesome, I’ll check out your channel!
Having a A movie about teens being brutally murdered in gory ways as a “comfort” movie sounds kinda off putting
Well you know what just enjoy your ride on the *Devil’s Flight* 🎢 💀
Its fiction, bro.

I like that one
