FlightCurious3852

Even with the hints, I can not find it. But I did find two shoes. That should count for something.

Coffee-Bae

>!Its in the top right section of the pic, you can basically only see the head, it’s directly left of the three green leaves!<

Loko8765

Oh yes. Not for nothing is it called a copperhead.

Taylooor

I never would have seen it. If it was a snake it would have… oh

Abject-Shape-5453

>!lts And bits of the body between the leafs to left of the three green leafs.!<

VioletSummer714

I actually saw the body but couldn’t find the head lol

Celestial-Dream

I did the same thing.

RawdyMD

Yes, and if you look in the “hole” in the leaves down and left you can see the scales on the body. They are impossible to see in real life as they just sit there till you step on or reach under a bush… wham!

Murky_Crow

FINALLY

LNYer

Well that's not helpful at all

Frequent-Variety-891

Go to the top right corner of the photo, about a half inch- 3/4 of an inch down there is a group of two leaves and then three, go slightly left and zoom into the photo, from there just check around in that corner until you see the more orange looking thing sticking out, that is its head. Slightly below that you will see its scaled body in a hole of leaves it is grey/ orangey but it is visible if you look long enough. Took me about 5 minutes to find

kickme2

Thanks for the hint! Found even minutes after reading. If it were a monkey he’d have thrown feces at me.

Think_Shame6530

Spoiler, but here's a picture of where the snek is [https://imgur.com/a/yPJy5TQ](https://imgur.com/a/yPJy5TQ)

CommunicationNo8982

The question is: how did YOU find it? I would have totally stepped on the fat bastard.

Sozzcat94

I assume the snake moved its head out to see what’s up. That could have caught OPs attention. I definitely would have stepped on him as well.

PioneerLaserVision

Copperheads usually freeze in the presence of a human. It's a defense response. They are hoping that the animal the relative size of King Kong won't notice them.

Dingo_McDugan_EAD

This is good information……also, with snakes being cold blooded creatures, depending on the time of year and time of day, snakes will slither rather slowly to a nice spot in the Sun to try and warm up. Before warming up they won’t/can’t attack due to their blood being cold. A coworker of mine took a little break one day, a stroll in the woods…we were working outside. Anyway he came back looking like he saw the ghost of his exwifes attorney. He didn’t have his glasses on and stepped inches, very close to stepping on him but inches away from a copperhead. It took me a min to even spot the guy laying in the Sun, brown leaves on the ground and my buddy pointing directly at him from 8ft away. Crazy good camo. Stay safe ppl. Cheers

PioneerLaserVision

Even a warmed up snake might not bite in that situation. It depends on whether they think you're coming after them or not. With a pit viper like a copperhead, it might also depend on what you are wearing. If in shorts, they'll "see" the heat from your body and it might scare them. In pants, they might be confused about the cold moving thing.

Adventurous_Post_705

Just got back from a hike 20 mins ago. Northern new jersey, a rattlesnake was chilling next to a rock that hid him, stepped near him and I heard that tail start rattling and I let out the most un-manly yelp in my life. Gonna start keeping a better eye out for this guy

Roflmaoasap

Yes OP must be r/nextfuckinglevel in spotting snakes while hiking

p001b0y

Or soiled underpants. Because that would be me.

steroid57

Plot twist: the snake is his, he's walking his snake

Gold_Assistance_6764

Op was there in person which has three dimensions and movement.

1stLtObvious

Really? I'm terrible at these and found it right away.

SuperSaiyanStoner42

You probably wouldn't last in the jungle, that's for sure. He's not talking about finding it in the photo. He was asking literally how he found the snake in the first place lol. well the difference between a picture and real life. Everything constantly moves in real life. No need to be scared of snakes. Snakes are actually very skittish. They will not strike a human unless the human is trying to antagonize it, or if you are literally about to step on it. The best way to avoid snakes if you are in an area notoriously known for having many snakes. Just stomp around. As long as you are taking big heavy steps, and keep your eyes on the ground in front of you. You will always see the snake move before you are about to step on it. Also it is important to avoid any rocky terrain, areas with tree roots sticking out of the ground, or anywhere with debris and fallen leaves thick enough to cover your shoes. some snakes will just stay put if they think they are camouflaged enough, like under a rock or a fallen tree. Disclaimer: these are just the tips I've gathered while traversing the wilderness, do not go into snake infested areas to test these methods. Every situation is different and it is best to avoid dangerous areas all together.

MNfarmboyinNM

Friend was bit by a rattlesnake while minding his own business. 12 days in icu. Helicopter trip. 8 doses of antivenin. Very expensive workmen’s comp claim

Successful-Space6174

Oh NO! Oh yes a rattlesnake bite can do that! I hope it wasn’t a Mojave rattler

apathy-sofa

> Everything constantly moves in real life. What? There was a king snake in the wood pile here that didn't move for three days. One of my kids has a pet snake that doesn't move unless hungry, which is like once a week. Snake are very good at not moving.

Impossible-Good-1857

Based on their comment history, they don't know nearly as much as they are claiming. He'd be laughed at in the south the first time he tried giving that info

ConsiderationOk1277

Good thing copper heads aren’t in the jungle.

SuperSaiyanStoner42

Wait you are right, I just convinced someone to head in the opposite direction of the jungle, straight into copperhead territory. Hopefully they read this whole thread. 1stLtObvious, ignore my initial comment. Literally don't go anywhere, your safest option at this point is probably to just continue scrolling reddit without any outdoor interaction. I didn't realize how easy it was to mislead someone over the internet. If they don't respond we can just assume they are not coming back.

Resident_Rise5915

My dad walking our dog yesterday when he casually came upon a 2ft Southern Pacific rattler chilling on the edge. Apparently it started rattling at him and our pup and I guess she was like 2ft away when my dad noticed the snake

[For everybody as blind as me, here with a red circle](https://i.imgur.com/giSFW8N.png) EDIT: Zoomed in picture with [head & tail](https://i.imgur.com/z1pptjC.png)

Red302

I still can’t identify it as a snake. Guess I’ll die.

okaygoatt

Same here, but tbh I didn't even know what a copperhead was before I came here

Red302

Got it now

Randori68

if you look a couple inches below the red circle, you can see part of its body beneath the leaves

Kawajiri1

That is just the head looking north east of the picture.

MattyDarce

>I still can’t identify it as a snake. Guess I’ll die. Of all of the medically significant venomous snakes in the US, this one is probably the least likely to kill you, but still, it is very painful from what I've heard.

Merica_84

I still didn't see it until I zoomed in on the circle. I didn't realize it was just the head. I would've been bitten.

branched1

Thank you I almost died!

Ferociousaurus

Lol I saw the scales in the underbrush but missed his whole head poking out.

WhiteWickSnow

Oh jeez! I’d been bit for sure!! Spotted the body by noticing the scales but never located the head until you circled it..

DeliciousPattern7018

I think it's not in the red circle. It is just below it peeking out from some leaves. And if that's not it, Satan is under those leaves looking out at the op.

taldrknhnsm

Thank you so much. If It was up to me you'd be top comment

_ninjanate

Jesus. I dead.

NaughtyFkDoll69

I was never going to find this lol

Yupthrowawayacct

Thank you so so so much. I thought I was going insane and now I literally don’t think I can hike anywhere anymore without thinking of this

iEatPalpatineAss

This is a fun excellent way to give out the answer 🥳

gloobus_ventura

i literally got the snake on the last one

DropGearToDissapear

Same lol

Downserver

I'm glad people are using more of my style answer lmao. After yesterday everyone's biting 😉

trikster_online

I would not have seen that one. I would have been bit.

Sachem4life

“Why don’t you go outside anymore?” “Well there’s this one subreddit…”

trikster_online

Absolutely! I shared this one with my wife and she freaked out once I pointed out where the snake was. She probably won’t go out back for a week or so now.

Yupthrowawayacct

Am I your wife?

Greenking73

This is the real answer

lemonhead2345

This sub makes me feel truly astounded that I made it through childhood.

soulflowr

Haha I thought the same

gotora

Honestly, chances are that you'd have walked by unharmed. As a rule, snakes are not as aggressive/defensive as commonly thought. These guys generally just don't want to interact with you at all (you're big and scary to them) and freeze if they think they're hidden or retreat if they feel exposed (retreating can sometimes be too a location on the other side of you, making them appear to be coming after you - just step aside and let them pass).

StrangeLab7343

Who died to the danger noodle? 🙋‍♂️

momemata

I definitely died

middle-name-is-sassy

Orange head top right quarter

NeferyCauxus

OH MY GOD I'd be dead.

Ammodramus_horridus

Only his head is really exposed, just to the left of a cluster of green leaves

SwarioS

I saw the scales before the head.

Candidate-Free

Just below the head you can also see the rest of it coiled up underneath the leaves. I don't know how you even saw this guy in real time x__x

Dadowar

Image compression made [this](https://ibb.co/wcpFfgM) harder.

NemasetDeadcreye

I love this so much. 🥰 Proud of you.

Dadowar

Thank you. I'm proud of you for being proud of me.

Last-Concentrate3673

It’s crazy how good the danger noodle blends in. It took me a while to find it and that was zooming in.

Perrin-Golden-Eyes

Same. I was starting to think OP was messing with us. But I was zoomed in enough I saw some scales and then I backed out a bit and saw more. This was a really great one.

Broglesby

The thing with the nope rope is that while in the moment, there is a chance the noodle starts to scadoodle and then stop. That would assist in bringing attention to the general area, in the moment. .. regardless, ill opt out of the threat zone!

Perrin-Golden-Eyes

As an avid trail runner I’m very aware of this. I’m constantly on patrol.

Bluwtr1

UGH! Even with the hints, I can't find this one.

Bluwtr1

Ok......I FINALLY found it. Holy crap!

AEWWC

You were at it for a while lol. Was that nonstop searching between these comments?

Turbulent-Ad6225

That is not a small snake

1_Curious_Bird

It wasn’t easy, but I found him! Also, have I lost my mind, or is there something hiding in the rocks?

GeekCat

It definitely looks like another snake hiding out.

tellmehowimnotwrong

Just like every other snake post…I’m dead.

nailedit671

>! If you draw a diagonal line from the upper right corner you’ll land on the head!<

pussyforpresident

This was the hint that helped me find it. These are usually easy for me without hints and I got FRUSTRATED. Awesome puzzle OP, awesome hint, nailedit. You nailed it

mitchellthecomedian

It’s behind me, isn’t it

Significant-City4187

This was a really satisfying one OP, thank you 😌

KrakenClubOfficial

Great hiking boots btw

Ammodramus_horridus

On my second pair!

DosEquisDog

Snake proof?

xTugboatWilliex

That’s it I’m leaving this sub. All it does is frustrate me and remind me how fast I’d die if I had to return to nature. (See you guys tomorrow)

xsynergist

My buddy in Texas spent a lot of time off trail and always wore knee high snake boots and only because of copperheads.

Ant_TKD

From now on I’m just going to assume that - wherever I am - there’s a copperhead somewhere near by. There could be one in this very office!

oversoulearth

Just put my mind at ease, we aren't finding it for you? You're not stuck there waiting on us? 😂

Scoots1169

Top right by the green leaves

Carm_003

Still can't see it

SBGamesCone

In the gap between the green leaves. Head is brown and just to the left of the first full green leaf.

Soxymet

I spent so long looking for the Hershey’s kisses…

Quiet-Try4554

Copperheads blend in so well with leaf litter. Hunters are always looking for the best camo. I would like to see how well copperhead camouflage would work. Bet it would look cool too

Trendzboo

My hide and seek motto, “Be the copperhead”

SleeperHitPrime

How does anyone actually *see* this while walking?; simply amazing.

dasHeftinn

Good chance that being that close a footstep startled it and it moved, causing the leaves to rustle a little and OP to stop and look, especially if they live in an area where copperheads aren’t uncommon. I live in the south and about two months ago was walking down some wooden steps in my backyard and exactly that, stepped down one step and heard a rustle. Stopped in my tracks and looked and about two feet away from my leg a copperhead was poised defensively. Blended in perfectly with the dead leaves and wooden step. I took and sent a picture of it to my dad, told him “heard the leaves move a little” and he said “glad it was you, I definitely wouldn’t have heard that and would’ve walked straight into it.”

rn_amJUD

My husband is a surveyor and he sends me pictures often when he walks up on them. Man, do these guys hide so well. I can't wait to see if he can find this one! 😆

nvlalala

Find the sniper has taught me that I don’t have the sense of self preservation to exist in the same areas that copperheads do. It takes me far too long to spot them.

kentermama

Are we just not going to talk about the creepy peeping alien directly below the damn snake?!

Speedtrucker

Jesus! When you’re a hammer everything looks like a snake! 🤦🏻‍♂️ That took forever and even then I thought maybe it isn’t even there.

Aahz83

Wayyyyy too close to your foot friend.

imhappy1dering

Woah.

Mcumshotsammich

RUQ of photo

knightleon

I’ve looked at all the clues and have absolutely no fucking idea where it is.

WARRIORS_30_GOAT

Vegas odds have that noodle hittin it’s mark undetected 99% of the time…1% are guys who only hike in snowshoes…. somethin to b said for that

brolyboy81

Spicy noodle friend, my favourite sight in this sub.

B-Rye_at_the_beach

I'm bit. Found him, but still bit.

yesIusereddit7

I’ve noticed that whenever I’m looking for a snake, everything suddenly looks just like a snake.

RazgrizNation

I do not like how it is just there... Staring... Menacingly!

PressurePlenty

I dead ass would've died already!

AngstyPunkin

i found some oddly scaled leaves before i saw the little head 💀

Bettysbutter

Follow the stick going up right diagonally. You find two green leaves above the stick. Just to the left and above the upper leaf. Copper color head and coils. Good job @OP for not centering

EnergyNegative9024

I zoomed in and saw the eyeball. I definitely would have lost my life to the danger noodle. I would have stepped on the fat thing.

sinnytear

imagine being in the woods and your friend takes out his phone and point at your feet “don’t move! i wanna post something to FindTheSniper”

vamgoda

The odds of me accidentally being killed by a snake seem to be incredibly high, because I never see them.

Carm_003

This has stumped me completely

Ammodramus_horridus

The head is poking out from under dead leaves, just left of a cluster of green leaves

f1lth4f1lth

I would have been dead for sure

galadriel_0379

That is a superb camouflage job by Mother Nature.

SwarioS

I think OP needs to back up slowly. What an almost tragedy!

ragequitter666

Wow, best one so far.

Technical-Function13

10 seconds i didnt see it. I died with this one

TheGhoulFO

Oh bruh! So glad u saw that one. But just how u did, I don’t know. Your mum must have prayed for u or something.

snakecatcher302

Found it. Took a bit though. If anything it shows their inoffensiveness and reliance on camouflage as opposed to using its venom.

Mountain-Woman0021

Wow if it was a snake it would have…bit me

ScrappyShua

Is it just me or are there two snakes in this picture?

Aggravating_Anybody

Hardest one I’ve seen on this sub so far. Well done!

FujiFL4T

I had to download the image to find it!

Dreydayallday

Are there 2 snakes in the pic? I think I see 2 different snakes!

futureman07

Aaaand I'm dead

The_Irish_Rover26

Is that a mole too?

Dajake

I found the Lego!

Kbx1969

Great photo 🥇

Mysterious_Wheel

After seeing enough snakes on this sub I realized that if I lived in an area where these were common I’d be dead.

Klutzy-Guarantee4956

I found it right away… but man, those suckers blend in perfectly. Scary shit for sure.

hertzgraphics

While searching for 5 minutes it bite me 10 or so times…. I’m now dead thanks

Randori68

I wonder if people have ever found a second unknown sniper

Special-Practice8302

Two thirds of the picture was ruled out due to your foot position placing the snake somewhere beyond the log

Uppercase-B

The copperhead was the friends we made along the way

Dialecticchik

It definitely was NOT where I thought it would be, and even after seeing it, my brain is having a hard time with it. This was a good one !!! 👍

BallgagsandBourbon

Growing up, if I couldn’t find something I’d call my mom. She’d find whatever I was looking for in a few seconds and she’d always say “if it were a snake it woulda bit ya” This sub takes that to a whole new level……

MrsMegenSheehan

I'm convinced I'm going to die by snake bite if I'm ever in the wild because I can never find them.

sportshaven1

Find it….if it had been a snake it would’ve have….nevermind

jessew1987

Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot, but are we sure that's a copperhead? Looks like it has black markings on its head

Lakai1983

Things like this are the reason I only hike in the Midwest in winter.

Sad_Blacksmith_Forge

Well...I'm dead 🐍💀

woozerschoob

I almost stepped on one of those fuckers once until I saw part of his body on a rock. He was just staring at me like "Bring it bro."

Glass-Star6635

God I fucking suck at these

Substantial-Shine-81

“If it were a snake, it woulda bit me” never rang more true.

KatzenSosse

I found its body before its head, then I downloaded the image. It's so obvious now that I'm dead. 💀

Bank_of_knowledge

I had found it but spent another five trying to find the actual copperhead…seems to be a juvie?

Medium-Lavishness-74

Is it bad that I was looking for wire shaped like a Richard? (Aka another name for Richard)

ClockTowerWasScary

I can’t. I’m dead 💀🐍

EclecticDSqD

Me 2.

EdinJamie10

I keep looking at these photos and wonder how anybody finds the lost thing, I can NEVER find them😭😭😭

Electronic-Roof-9539

I’m 100% dying in the forest

jordabs420

These make me feel like I have no business being in the woods lmao I can never find it 😭

Kale-Character

As someone raised in the Ouachitas and Ozarks, this one was simple. Copperheads are masters at keeping “out of sight”.

Neither_Macaron_2780

That’s the most copperest copperhead I ever done seen

WarPaintsSchlong

If you just saw a close up picture of a Copperhead you wouldn’t assume their camouflage is as effective as it. But they’re always so damn hard to spot when they’re on leaf litter or even bare dirt sometimes.

Trev-_-A

Snakes get mad when we step on them, but then do this crap

Neoxenok

I don't know about the copperhead, but I heard a hissing noise and looked down and found a bunch of holes in my leg. I think I'm loosing air because I'm getting really dizzy all ... of a ....

Inevitable-Print573

Filing this photo in the “reasons why I never wanna walk outside again” folder.

Imdownwithit322

Just a little head pokin out! Hope the smell of cucumbers kept ya from stepping on it!

Married_Queen2019

OMG that sucker's really in there! My question is how did YOU find it before snapping this pic?!

turner-nator13

Wellp… I’m bitten

Singer-Maximum

Way too close for comfort. That said…if it were a simple garter snake it would be too close for comfort for me. I’m not a “nope rope” guy. 😂

enomai_jb3

I can't understand why copperheads wanna hide under all them leaves, then get all kinds of mad at me when I step on them... like how is that my fault!

fancybeadedplacemat

I zoomed in and found it. Then I zoomed back out and couldn’t find it again. This is why I hike the crowded trails in the summer.

WifeOfSpock

This is why I don’t camp. I know my place as a domesticated animal. I’d die 5 steps into a forest.

Proud_Jacobite

The key to all of the "find the snek" is to think what are the traits and instincts of this type of danger noodle. Copperheads are ambush predators. They use camoflauge and conceilment to hide and then strike when their prey gets too close or they are threatened. Their natural camoflauge looks like dead leaves but again the "no step on snek" addage applies as most will rarely lay out in the open unless sunning or actively moving. They almost never hunt when visible. So where is the best hiding spot in the image to not get stepped on? In and amongst the rocks. And viola! Danger noodle found. The ones that get me are when I know they are when they are not where you expect them to be. *** As a kid of about 4 I was chasing around the yard at a friend's place while the adults watched us run through the sprinker and take turns down the slip and slide on a very hot and muggy day in East TN. We had stopped for a Kool-aid break and had just resumed our play. I was about to find out that a 4 year old could indeed jump and levitate high enough to dunk from the freethrow line like MJ when given the proper motivation. Running full tilt toward the sprinkler I almost stepped down on a very large Cottonmouth who had come out of the nearby woods, likely to get a drink from the water pooling in the yard near the sprinker. Yep, I levitated and my foot that was coming down never landed. I screaned a four letter word that no parent thinks their kid knows at that age as I climbed a set of air stairs and cleared the danger noodle and the sprinker a good 6 feet ahead of me. Of course my mother used my middle name and was scolding me good as she got up to come grab me for a tonsil scrubbing with a bar of Ivory soap. I booked it clean past her about the time she too saw the snake, screamed and swore herself, instantly canceling any pending punishments for me. Animal control was called and they bagged up the almost three foot long Cottonmouth to be relocated away from the subdivision. Even decades later, that is still one of those prime memories where you can still remember the imputs of all 5 senses as clear as if it just happened moments ago. That never put me off snakes though. I caught and played with all kinds of non-poisonous snakes as a kid and have even held a 25-foot long python and various poisonous snakes several times. We even had a large gopher snake we used to pet sit for over semester and summer breaks from school growing up. I l've been bitten a few times by non-poisonous snakes too. Snakes, even poisonous ones, just don't bother me, unless they surpise me, at which point I retreat, re-evaluate, and then either avoid or move the danger noodle as necessary. Catching and moving a rattle snake from the trail, campsite, or wood pile so it doesn't bite my kids or dogs requires a bit more finess than just grabbing the large gopher snake and stuffing it up under your hat to hike out with it so you can show it to the grandkids and your science class like my Grandpa Jack was known to do.

Neat_Translator_5339

The longest stick in the picture, follow it to the cut off. Double tap the 5 green leaves close to the left side of the stick. Either look for the head that is across from the third leaf down. Or see its body that resembles some type of wire mesh at first glance to the left of the 5th leaf in that row.

Airryick

Use the mossy rock on the top right corner to start, then two partially eat leaves near the base of the rock, then below this are 3 bigger, intact leaves, To the left of the darker of the 3 bigger intact leaves below the 2 chewed on ones. You’ll see his head pokin out and a little bit of his body showing under the dead leaves Lemme know if this helps

Its-May-Yo

I'm afraid I need one of those red circles to see the danger.

_randomaccountname_

How in the hell did you find that before stepping on it?

IronHarley

Snakes, I hate snakes… it’s always snakes!
