Like dude, YOU chose to live in Frozen Balls, Alaska. I seriously doubt USPS provides speedy delivery from all corners of the US to your igloo. Sounds more like a partial refund fishing expedition. NOPE!

JustforShiz

I don't ship to Hawaii or Alaska anymore because of these people.

Purple1829

I’ve found the opposite. Usually Hawaii or Alaska people are super cool with me. I usually send them a message to let them know that shipping time is going to be long, and usually they are well aware or thank me for letting them know

TMWNN

Same with those that live in Puerto Rico or Guam. They are well aware of the longer transit times, and are grateful that they can buy from me at all.

_dfromthe6

But what about the Virgin islands!? /s

jjjaikman

I only do the 48 states too. Not bc of shipping times, but cost. It's just not worth it to me, mostly bc I do flat rates. My shipping rates are super low, so calculated rates aren't very helpful when I price items.

_dfromthe6

I had a customer complain not even a week in that lives in Australia and I shipped from Toronto Canada. Like I understand being anxious wanting what you paid for but not sure why some feel the need to Harras the seller.

quanfused

From where you're at to AK is like 3,500 miles, but you did indicate "Expedited Shipping" so ebay probably made it seem like within a week would work so for them to see 6/11 date, they are just whining. If you honored your SLA, then it should be there like this week.

MadDogFenby

Dude, I make my handling time whatever max it can be. I think like 4 days. Most of the time I drop off the next day, but sometimes I'm worn out or work has me stay overnight so I don't get to it for a couple of days, and it saves me. But far out like that, there's more than distance that will affect delivery times, and you're at the whims of people moving bits from place to place.

castaway47

I have my handling time set to 5 days and ebay tells some buyers the item will arrive before I'm required to ship it.

MadDogFenby

I agree with the 5 days, but I usually don't tell my buyers anything unless they ask questions ahead of time.

orgore

I feel that, I had mine set for 1 day, just so I could stay on top of everything. But like you said, sometimes you get home from work worn out and really in no mood to be packing up orders to ship them out. 3 days is good for me, just enough time, but not too long where I feel like I’m procrastinating it.

Worth-Development684

I actually pick the longest method avalable Economy Shipping 11-23 days and a handling time of 3 days. Then I ship within a day and they get it in 4 days. I've noticed I get much more positive feedback this way and most importantly no more annoying messages then when I had 1-5 days + 1 day handling time listed lol. Now it's like "Item received, Super fast shipping" when it's the same shipping as it's always been. Maybe the whiners just went to bother someone else 🙏 Doesn't matter who buys or doesn't buy from me, at the end of the day high demand stuff gets sold in a day or 2 🤷‍♂️

Loose-Meeting8937

I have very similar settings, but eBay still shows the buyer very unrealistic delivery estimates. I have had several item not received cases opened lately due to the usps bog that wouldn’t have even been opened because it’s not past the economy shipping 10 business day max. They were shown 3 day delivery because it seems to take best case scenario.

PraetorianAE

You get good feedback but you get less sales having economy shipping/3day handling compared to someone who has ground advantage/1day.

Worth-Development684

I don't have less sales cause I don't sell crap, if I list it sells. Just less crappy buyers which goes to those sellers instead of me

Apprehensive-Disk314

I got negative feedback over this same thing. I shipped out the day after purchase and it took 7 days to get there because of a delay out of my control. Dude was pissed at me. Wrote a terrible review and lied multiple times. With all proof shown, eBay still refused to remove his feedback.

evnrayash

I blame usps

Chricton

Time is often extended if the package doesn't arrive by the time the estimate says.

TheRipcitizen

USPS is clearly having issues. I mailed a package on May 17th going from Washington State to Washington State and it was shipped to Anchorage before making it back to Seattle. It took 14 days for priority mail.

Development-Feisty

I set my handling time to two business days because I realize that eBay was counting Saturdays and Sundays as handling time days

To be fair, eBay's shipping estimates are usually very accurate. They pull them based on your handling time, your zip, the buyer's zip, the number of business days that fall in this span, and the expected shipping speed of the shipping service chosen. They aren't just making shit up. Even if that wasn't the case, they wouldn't be off by this much. There is no place in Alaska that should take 3 weeks to receive something mailed from anywhere else in the US unless it's literally out in the frontier and needs to be delivered by dog sled. This is almost certainly a significant USPS delay, which is exactly what you should tell the customer.

PaleontologistDear18

All you have to do is go to your business policies, and add a day or two to your handling time. This will help you spread out your shipments so your customers don't get upset with you.

castaway47

Ebay doesn't honor handling time in their delivery estimates.

PaleontologistDear18

Why do you say that? Haha people just saying false shit on here…

castaway47

Because buyers have told me that their expected delivery from ebay is before I'm required to ship an item based on my handling time. Some people give shitty and wrong advice without knowing what they are talking about but it's not me...

PaleontologistDear18

You need to speak with eBay because adding handling time to my shipping window fixed this exact problem for me.

derekded

I think one of my projects for this summer/fall will be testing out a new selling platform. I feel like I see a new thing like this from eBay every week, and it's only a matter of time before eBay starts promising free gold bars on my behalf without my permission.
