I took the 7:45 am from Newark to West Palm Saturday morning, there was also a (delayed) 7 am flight to FLL which left from the gate right next to my flight, so we were all in the same waiting area. I'd estimate at least 60% of the people waiting between the two flights were wearing Rangers related gear shirts/hats.
Ironically enough, one guy and his son I was talking to while boarding also were sitting in my section yesterday and we ran into each other again.
Between my flight and ticket for yesterday's game (and the $65 parking) it would have been cheaper for me to go to Game 2 instead.
And that's not including a hotel since my mom lives in Del Ray so I am staying with her.
But that also does include a jacked up price for my Saturday flight for MDW, which probably was the difference between this being a more expensive venture than a ticket at MSG. Actually my round trip flight was more expensive than the cheapest ticket currently available for Game 5.
Hopefully that dispels the whole "Rangers fans have to come to our arena because they got priced out of MSG". It definitely wasn't about the money (for me at least, and many others I talked to at the airport/game, made a weekend out of it).
***But I also shudder to think what my ticket was at face value instead of Seatgeek resale and how badly the STH I purchased the tickets from got me on the upcharge***
A lot do. Walk around the city the day of a game, especially in the playoffs, there's so many people wearing NYR jerseys and apparel. And many, many more live in the surounding counties and take the train in.
