In the 40s there was a man who made a killing after he accepted the fact that he was a failed artist, in Germany i think. Dont give up! Life after art is possible!
Yeah, kind of like the advice being thrown around for everyone and their mother to become plumbers. There is demand, but eventually the market for anything will saturate.
Saturation in trades like Plumbing/Electrician/House maintenance-oriented will probably never happen, or at least not like most saturation like in Tech, etc.
A lot of habitations are getting older and they're building cheaper and cheaper, population is rising fast and demand for cheap stuff means that trend will accelerate as well, plus a lot of senior tradespeople are taking their retirement right now. Maybe their rate won't be as good, but demand will always be there.
The ideal job these days is remote, making six figures. Trades will never be remote, but you can make six figures. Also dealing with literal human shit in a tiny, spider infested, dark, and dusty crawlspace isn't for everyone.
Generations were told "go to college to get a good job". Now a BA in business provides the most minimal of boosted earning potential because of how saturated it is.
Trades are physically and mentally demanding. (Ability to haul a 200lb condenser unit uphill, then figure out why the temperatures/pressures are off after working 8 hours in the sun on an HVAC installation) They have been ignored for decades. So the cost of labor has been dramatically increasing.
I agree with that as the trades provide an essential human service.
Some day though, in the future, there may not be much demand for plumbers and mechanics… it’s a real economic danger. For today pretty safe though
Kind of a sad but completely correct way to look at it. There's simply too many people who love art and not enough demand for all of them to be able to make a decent living off of it.
Unless everyone is just trading art and money around with each other, like you could have little drawing for people, let's just use US presidents as an example, and give people a few of these pictures of US presidents to represent some value of the art.
Not me…don’t think I’d be selling squat being as artistically challenged as I am. I do enjoy looking at it though and the creative process that goes into it. Well done! I’d for sure buy that piece
Congratulations on succeeding at that. I'd say artistic talent and business acumen are seldomly found together in the same person, which explains why so many artists fail to live off their art. What tips would you share for those wanting to do the same?

that art income getting slow
One hell of a drug

I mean, yes, but that's not nestle or adidas, I don't get what's wrong with that
If everyone did it wouldn’t that devalue your art due to supply and demand thus making it not something everyone can do?

Birth rates are declining
Population is rising in general due to immigration.
To be fair, you can make that argument about almost any profession.... Except maybe hoeing, there's never enough hoes.
Sometimes there just isn't enough hoes
I think the message is not quite literally "Everyone should be an artist, do it." And more everyone can do what they set out to do in their careers.
“NEVERMIND”

You spamming dozens of subreddits with advertisements is so freaking annoying
Is this Hunter Biden?
Yea
Someone has your briefcase bro
Or George W
Did George w sell paintings?
I don’t think he sells them. He’s started painting after he left office (I think)
Cheech Marin
Lol. I think Hunter Biden was selling paintings and making quite a bit of money right away
how do you sell it? and market it?
Posts like this.
What’s your yearly gross?

On Reddit

That’s sick! Any tips for marketing yourself/building your brand? Do you work with distributors/galleries or do direct sales?

bravo! i paint and sell them but not as fulltime. aunt and a cousin do, it's a passion for sure
Interesting. Looks like you have a pixel artstyle?
thats called passion
I can do it I’m just too lazy. Supplies cost money too and I’m not good with physical paint.
Thank you for inviting all of us to live off your art.
What’s the average same price for one of your paintings?
Beautiful! Looking at OP’s profile…he/she has some amazing artwork! Keep it up and may you flourish

I love painting and creating in general, but doing it for a living would be so taxing it would probably cause me to hate it. Good for you I guess.
Awesome work op, you’re definitely quite talented. Keep it going!
It will be worth more when you pass
Planet one is really cool!
Good for you for living off your art. Many have that aspiration. You made it happen.
To be an American you busy develop the skills in art and capitalism. And it creates some great things
Question: if you decide you don’t like the color you put down, how do you remove such a unit chonk of paint? Do you start over instead?
Let me buy something
