I wouldn’t buy a 2.0 liter eco boost made before 2020 either because you have to deal with the coolant consumption from the cracks in the cylinders. Because of how it was made. But anything after 2020 is fine for the 2 liter eco boost because they changed the design.
Good fuel economy because I’m planning on driving back and fourth between school every day and taking my grandpa to his doctors office every now and then and going to the store twice a month etc…
I would stay away from the 2 liter eco boosts before 2020. Because my sister had the recall problem with hers that it was leaking coolant into the cylinder and it’s a big mess of problems
I second this.
Vic’s and the Panther platform in general are nearly bulletproof. The only real weak spot is the transmission but only if it’s not serviced properly.
Also as a ford tech the Maverick is phenomenal. No real major flaws have shown up for the vast majority of them.
so did everything else before 2010, however i can say they are pretty safe due to the frame surrounding the passenger compartment. only took one wreck to find that out
Expedition is the most reliable out of all those you listed but they’re gas hogs… I’d recommend a crown Vic, town car, or grand marquis. Very reliable and the things that do go wrong are generally cheap to fix
First gen fusion. You can get them crazy cheap, the 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 are all great motors. 3.5 might be the most problematic but there is a good chance it's had the water pump done recently enough you won't have to worry about it during your ownership. 2.5 is maybe the most reliable motor ford has made in the last 20 years.
For the most part, just avoid anything with a dual clutch transmission. High mileage isn't necessarily a bad thing. Average miles are about 11,000 per year for most people, but in general, more than that means a good chance the miles were on the highway. Short trips are really rough on cars.
Be patient. Don't get in a rush to get one right away. I'm pretty bad at haggling at dealerships, but typically Internet prices are their lowest ones at a used lot. So if you go for one you saw posted online, be aware of that. You can replace haggling with shopping carefully through postings and be just fine.
Do you want good fuel economy, Or bad fuel economy? Because the escapes and edge will get better than the explorer and expedition
Not a 1.5l escape or the 1.6l. Hot garbage

and the intake, but those are simple enough to fix
You’re right and I can’t believe I forgot that. Busy shop today
As a Ford tech as well, I can’t agree enough. The mavericks seem to be damn near perfect for what it is.
I’ve owned a p71. My only caveat is they have terrible side impact protection.

Avoid any Escape as a first car!
Get a used Honda or Toyota. I would choose reliable over brand. For the record I am a Focus owner and not a DSC model but the 5 speed manual.

I work at a ford dealership, avoid escapes. explorers and edges are good
how about Bronco Sport, are those good?
Yeah they seem like good vehicles, I’d go with a 23-24, 21s seems to have the most bugs but not terrible
thanks, i am thinking of reliability and not sure if its the same as the current escape, i am looking for Big Bend which it uses 1.5L
Go Explorer

Avoid a ford as a new car *i am a ford lover but its just sad but true
So stay away from the 2013 to 18 escapes. The ecoboost motors are bad for failures.
