That's because Kevin Smith wasn't involved...the producers tried to use the Jay character before being informed that Kev owns Jay and Silent Bob.
They also auditioned Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson to reprise their roles as Dante and Randall but instead they cast Andrew Lowrey and fucking Jim Breur.
I don't think it ever aired. All of the shots from the title montage are from the episode being shown. Must be the pilot episode that was never picked up.

I was so upset at nine years old that I'd never get to see more of Clarissa's thrilling life as a journalist, lol. If anyone wants more Clarissa Darling there's a book "Things I Can't Explain" which checks in on her in her... thirties? I think? It's not great (there's a lot of trying to make "fetch" happen in the book) but Ferguson getting busted for financial crimes and Clarissa being diagnosed with OCD (which is why she feels the need to explain things) were both interesting enough angles that it's probably worth the 3 bucks you can find it for.

I'm pretty sure that in the later seasons of Sabrina she was also an aspiring journalist. 2 for 2 on career path for Melissa Joan Hart characters.
