My father was a Hostess delivery man. I grew up with a loaded Hostess truck in my driveway. I think I qualify as an expert and you gave the only correct answer.
Apple followed by cherry. It wasn't until years later that a friend (similar age) told me that she would heat the apple pie in a microwave and had done so since she was young. Not heating an apple pie in that manner made me realize a part of my childhood was wasted.
I still have that emotional scar.
My mom would only let us eat these as apple pies. Somehow, she was convinced that "apple" was healthy. But the others were just sugary junk food.
Can we be emotional scar buddies?
Cherry. I may have had apple or blueberry, but none of the others. We had a Hostess/Wonder Bread outlet store where my Mom would stock up. What I really prefer are Tastykake cherry pies.
Both apple, and the pudding pies. I seem to remember that the pudding pies were only available for a relatively short period of time; then one day they disappeared from the shelves!
I wish they would bring it back, however, since the company was bought some years ago, nothing from them tastes the same. 😭
Blueberry. When I was a kid we used to steal returnable soda bottles for cash. With that money we bought a dozen blueberry pies and several cans of whipped cream. My buddy and I sat under a roadway, in a tunnel for a few hours consuming ourselves. Then we both started feeling really bad. Upset stomach. Never did that again.
Fun if not terrible story about these.
I joined the Army straight out of high school and was very skinny with a huge appetite. I was always hungry. One day I had KP (kitchen duty), and there was a pallet of these nearby. I snuck one while nobody was around and stuck it my cargo pocket for later. When the time came for my break, I went to the bathroom and into a stall. Standing over the toilet, I pulled out the pie still in its wrapper. In a hurry, I opened it and just as I did someone burst into the bathroom calling for me.
I DROPPED THE WHOLE UNEATEN PIE IN THE TOILET!
I stood there horrified and saddened at what had just happened and just cursed.
Cherry or Apple mostly. My favorite was the chocolate that's not shown. I'll grab one on occasion still, but with shrinkflation hitting all Hostess products, it's more disappointing than fulfilling.
Apple first and cherry second. They tasted great coming out of the refrigerator! Nice and thick. Sometimes, with vanilla ice cream! It sucks getting old and becoming pre-diabetic. Oh, how I miss those.....
I first remember the fruit pies when I had to pack a sandwich as we took a field trip to plant trees in the Tillamook Burn area, a lot of schools did that in Oregon in the early 60s. Have chomped them down ever since!
It was the flakey, white-ish sugar glaze on the crust that was my favorite part.
With that said, I susally reached for the apple or cherry when we were allowed to have them.
Goodness, I have the best memories of these with my grandmother. She would buy a bunch and let me pick one when she'd pick me up from kindergarten. All of them we're great, but the apple and lemon we're my favorite 😍 😋
Any of them but never had a pineapple one. We lived near the bakery and the about to expire pies were like $1 for 10 and the chocolate ones were terrible. My friend that never had one called them cow flop pies because he bought his lunch in the cafeteria while most of us brown bagged it and was jealous.
Didn’t these things have like 1000 calories each?
I remember being on a bus trip, bus stops at a gas station. I was a kid with some pocket change, and one older kid was like “these are soooo good” so naturally everyone had to get one.
Fun yes but like most stuff from our childhood it was diabetes waiting to happen
I loved the fruit pies, cherry and apple. I don’t remember them having that sugar glaze they have now, makes them too sweet. Maybe it’s my memory though.
Lemon, always lemon. It tasted like lemon meringue pie. We would stop by a Hostess outlet in Saticoy on our way to Saticoy Country Club. Which is now The Saticoy Club. Still get them every once in a while for nostalgia.
Fruit pies
Cherry, apple, lemon, blueberry, but not the rest.
We also used to get Table Talk (New England) small pies (now called hand pies). The blueberry ones were amazing.
I don’t know how they made them but those Chocolate Pudding ones were NASTY. Lemon was the best, cherry and apple were okay. TBH I much preferred the frosted honey buns.
Q: Which was your favorite Hostess fruit pie? A: Yes
My father was a Hostess delivery man. I grew up with a loaded Hostess truck in my driveway. I think I qualify as an expert and you gave the only correct answer.

Damn. Lucky bastard. Although, if my dad was the Hostess delivery man I most certainly would’ve gotten the Diabeetus.
😂😂👏👏👏
I worked at Wonder Bread and we had a Hostess store there and I use to eat every thing they made.
The quality control we all need
Did you ever lift the keys from his pocket and go foraging for tasty treats in the back of the truck on a Saturday night?
Happy Cake Day!

Cherry 100% but I would also f with lemon. I would warm them then put them in ice cream. Absolute slap from the past.
Apple 😊
Lemon. Always and forever. Apple second.
Lemon, apple or cheery. Ive never seen pineapple.
I have never seen the pineapple either. Wonder what it tasted like.
I love pineapple.
I do too. Pineapple upside down cake is heaven!
🍋👍🏻
Mmmmmm, lemon!
Blueberry
Same
Cherry. Always cherry.
Blueberry. I would get one and a carton of milk at school every morning in high school before class.
Lemon, cherry, vanilla pudding, chocolate pudding, apple. Damn I miss those.
If you have one near you, Circle K gas stations sells their version of these. The lemon one is good.
Cherry
Cherry. I may have had apple or blueberry, but none of the others. We had a Hostess/Wonder Bread outlet store where my Mom would stock up. What I really prefer are Tastykake cherry pies.
I remember those outlet stores. I want to say that individual snacks were around a quarter, maybe 50¢ right before they all closed.
The outlet was the only way my mother would buy them.
Cherry the only one...
Cherry all day, every day.
Fruit pies. Used to put them in the the freezer lol.
It's a tie between pudding pies and blueberry for me.
Ofcourse cherry and eventually the cream filling.
Cherry Still love them. I get the box of minis on occasion.
The Ninja Turtles special flavor
Random memory unlocked . Wasn’t it ooze colored vanilla pudding ?
It was. They had these in my high school cafeteria and I had one every day I could.
Cherry
Both apple, and the pudding pies. I seem to remember that the pudding pies were only available for a relatively short period of time; then one day they disappeared from the shelves! Chocolate were my favorite. Eating g it was suspiciously bad somehow, but I always came back for more
I was a Little Debbie's kid. Fudge Rounds, Nutty Buddy, Star Crunch, Pecan Pinwheels, Fudge Brownies, and last but not least, the Oatmeal Creme Pie.
Blackberry was the best!
Fruit. That sugar coated crust and science fruit within. Nom nom.
Cherry 🍒
Lemon was my go to but I also liked apple.
I’m beginning to think that fruit filling wasn’t real….
Yeah, blueberry!
Hell, I just looked at the price: 55 cents for a Hostess??? FUCK I AM OLD!!! You can't even buy one for $2 anymore!
Definitely chocolate!

Cherry.

Cherry pie for sure...then apple or lemon
Cherry!

Chocolate. Then, lemon or blueberry.
The ninja turtle pies.
Peach

Apple for sure. It was (and still is when I can find some knock-off version) my favorite road trip food.
Pie ala mode cherry
Banana pudding pies are the best.
No love for Drake's Fruit Pie? Tastes so fine, comes in apple and cherry, makes me wanna cry-i!
Lemon then chocolate
Cherry or Apple mostly. My favorite was the chocolate that's not shown. I'll grab one on occasion still, but with shrinkflation hitting all Hostess products, it's more disappointing than fulfilling.
Chocolate!!!!
Lemon was my favorite
Never had them. Never been a fan of pies.
I didn’t know they had all those flavors my local store only had apple and cherry. I liked cherry best
Oh man! Apple and cherry were a toss up.
Strawberry!
Apple, lemon, and chocolate pudding.
The short-lived ninja turtle pudding pie with green ooze coating

Apple
Pineapple was always my favorite. Not all places carried it though.
Fruit
Yes. 😉
Strawberry and peach
Apple
Fruit, and it’s not even close.
Lemon
I'd trade my First born for one more Hostess Chocolate pudding pie.
Hostess Apple or lemon plus an RC cola was my HS lunch.
Apple first and cherry second. They tasted great coming out of the refrigerator! Nice and thick. Sometimes, with vanilla ice cream! It sucks getting old and becoming pre-diabetic. Oh, how I miss those.....
Blackberry
Apple or cherry. Those things were so sugary they hurt my teeth
The pudding! I had forgotten these existed.
I first remember the fruit pies when I had to pack a sandwich as we took a field trip to plant trees in the Tillamook Burn area, a lot of schools did that in Oregon in the early 60s. Have chomped them down ever since!
Apple
Chocolate.
Odd, I've never seen the blueberry, strawberry, pineapple or peach flavor. But the cherry and apple were always my favorites
Chocolate pudding. JJ Pies makes a decent facsimile of it. They also have a lot more flavors than Hostess makes now.
Apple and lemon
Cherry, Blackberry
It was the flakey, white-ish sugar glaze on the crust that was my favorite part. With that said, I susally reached for the apple or cherry when we were allowed to have them.
I had completely forgotten they had putting pies in the 80’s. I should’ve remembered of my fat but has eaten plenty of them
The one that tastes like Crisco which I guess is all of them
Apple and cherry. I didn't even know that pudding one was a thing. But I probably would have fucked with it.
Cherry and apple for me. I love the pudding ones, but they gave me the shits
Lemon
Do they still make these?
Lemon was crack. Apple (warmed) was god tier.
Those peach pies…damn! I miss them!
Cherry was always my favorite.
Cherry. Hands down winner.
I also like the ninja turtle pies they had for a bit back in the early 90s.
Cherry was my go-to, with lemon sitting there lonely on the shelf as my "always some of that one left" backup.
Goodness, I have the best memories of these with my grandmother. She would buy a bunch and let me pick one when she'd pick me up from kindergarten. All of them we're great, but the apple and lemon we're my favorite 😍 😋
Fruit Pies. Don’t like cream filled desserts or donuts.
Strawberry fruit pies were my favorite. I still eat the apple and cherry pies when I'm craving some gas station pies.
Tastykakes!!! Their fruit pies rocked, cherry and apple my favorite
It’s the Apple for me.
Dolly Madison pies!
“Makers of neat-to-eat treats!”
The cheh-reh pah was the best..
The pudding one slapped. If I remember correctly lol
I don’t know. Although I grew up in the 70s, my mom never bought them.
I put Hostess exec kids thru college eating the apple version.
Apple pie, please!
🍒 all day
Apple! I loved those things.
Fruit pies
I loved the crusts of any flavor. They should bring that back but just the crusts make them like cookies.
Best pies ever
Chocolate, hands down.
Lemon, apple and pineapple were all favorites.
Any of them but never had a pineapple one. We lived near the bakery and the about to expire pies were like $1 for 10 and the chocolate ones were terrible. My friend that never had one called them cow flop pies because he bought his lunch in the cafeteria while most of us brown bagged it and was jealous.
98% chocolate 1% lemon 1% blueberry
Yes.
Chocolate, lemon, cherry, apple. In that order.
Lemon or apple after a cheese sandwich, fritos with a Dr Pepper.
Cherry or apple pie.
Cherry and Apple
Ninja Turtles green vanilla pudding was my favorite
The chocolate one.
Lemon, FTW!
Apple
![gif](giphy|2QpH5Khv9ooec) You had me at fruit pie.
The one called Berry was the bomb. I remember them in the 70’s when I was a kid.
APPLE.
Lemon Baby!
Apple is the only one I would ever try. Way too sweet and chalky. Like Krispy Kremes
Blueberry and lemon! I tried them a few years ago and they were nasty, not at all like I remember.
Peach, yum-yum
Cherry was my go-to, with lemon sitting there lonely on the shelf as my "always some of that one left" backup.
A cherry fruit pie paired well with a Dr Pepper.
Apple
Ninja Turtle pie. 😁
1) Cherry 2) Lemon 3) Chocolate Pudding
Berry.
Apple all day, bonus if I can heat it up in the giant microwave!
I liked the blueberry, apple, and cherry. I didn’t appreciate the pudding until I was older.
The chocolate ones… obviously chocolate trumps fruit pie any day on the week!
Yes
Cherry and apple. I didn’t even know those other flavors existed.
Apple only. Had one recently, very disappointing 😩
Chocolate and vanilla pudding pies big time.
Apple, vanilla and chocolate. Delicious and oh so terrible for you.
Oh man I loved those when I was a kid. The crust! I always got the apple or lemon ones.
I loved the fruit pies, cherry and apple. I don’t remember them having that sugar glaze they have now, makes them too sweet. Maybe it’s my memory though.
Blackberry was ssssoooo hard to get! I think I only had it once….can I join the emotional scar club?
Lemon, always lemon. It tasted like lemon meringue pie. We would stop by a Hostess outlet in Saticoy on our way to Saticoy Country Club. Which is now The Saticoy Club. Still get them every once in a while for nostalgia.
Gee whiz, it's been years. I loved the fruit pies, but those pudding pies were Dis-gust-ing!
Do the Chocolate Pudding pies still exist?
Apple for me. Worked construction over summers in high school and college. Apple fruit pie, pretzel Combos, and Papaya punch for breakfast. Every day.
Pudding pie!
Lemon all day every day.
Cherry and lemon.
Fruit pies Cherry, apple, lemon, blueberry, but not the rest. We also used to get Table Talk (New England) small pies (now called hand pies). The blueberry ones were amazing.
Cherry for me!
Did these ever actually taste good, or were they always weird and dry and full of weird jelly?
Cherry 🍒, always cherry. I have two in my icebox right now. 😋
Cherry 🍒pie first and formost. Apple 🍎 is my second choice.
I don’t know how they made them but those Chocolate Pudding ones were NASTY. Lemon was the best, cherry and apple were okay. TBH I much preferred the frosted honey buns.
Hostess blueberry pie all day!
I absolutely loved these as a kid. Don’t try them now, they are awful.
Lemon and the old school chocolate pudding before they changed the recipe.
Apple all the way.
Cherry
Cherry
Whichever was the one advertised in the old Avengers comics with the Incredible Hulk. I ate them because he ate them.
Did pineapple, strawberry, and blackberry even EXIST?
Cherry all the way!
Apple was my JAM!
Apple is the right answer. I think I have had lemon. I don't think there are any other that I like.
I can’t find peach pies anymore there my ❤️
My inner fat kid said yes.
Fruit pies all fucking day
Strawberry was my all-time favourite.
Remember when they used to sell these full pies in quantity. Now they only sell those bite sized ones in quantity.
Apple and occasionally lemon. I don't dare try one these days given how far the quality of Hostess products have dropped.
