Imagine we have to go to ~~Los Santos~~ Vice City Customs, to install a Toll pass for each vehicle (similar to equipping car with insurance in GTA V).
If you just stole a car, or your car doesn’t have a toll pass you have to stop at the cashier. If you have a toll pass you can drive through full speed. If you don’t have a toll pass and you drive through toll pass lanes, then you get a big fine but no wanted level (like 10-100x the normal fee, just like in real life). If you stop at cashier, but don’t pay, they won’t open the gate. You’ll have to drive through the gate and then you’ll get a wanted level, but you pay nothing.
Edit: It’s kind of a small risk small reward scenario. Just like in GTA V with the police impound lot and taxi.
You could just pay $250 to get your car out of the impound in GTA Online, or you could just hop the fence and steal it; but you’ll get a wanted level. I never pay for my car, it’s just more fun.
With the taxi, you can hop out at anytime and not pay the driver, but you’ll get a wanted level.
That’d be sick, I will say though that I think some cars that we steal should already have the toll pass in it, especially depending on what part of the map you stole the car from such as city cars would be more likely to have a toll pass while cars from the suburbs or small towns are less likely to have it.
pretty sure the trailer shows that it's called Ride Out Customs. Hopefully there's different places because I want a Pay n' Spray in a small town, Ride Out Customs in the hood, and Vice City Customs in the city

There were toll by plate signs in the trailer but this one looks like a more traditional tollbooth rather than a toll by plate, so maybe you have to at least slow down to pay
My guess is that it's an automatic deduction of a couple bucks when you pass through, which you can bypass by using the bike lanes on either end, at the risk of a one star wanted hit (a la GTA IV)
Are there barriers there? I went to Florida and the booths worked with sunpass or "toll by plate", with big signs telling you not to stop cause it's all automatic. If you went through there with a stolen car booth attendants wouldn't get alerted the owner will just get an invoice.
Tolls in Miami are different, because they use scanners that scan your Sun Pass on your windshield and your license plates. So my guess is there won't be any tolls or something else

We need ways for money to always be going out with bills and costs of living etc. The grind to get out of poverty needs to feel real and rewarding, and that requires money to have real value by having fun things to spend money on. Shopping sprees and hair and nails and makeup and fashions and parties on boats and at home and drugs that are fun to take or give an advantage but can also eat up some of your other developed stats like stamina/dexterity/running speed/shooting skill/other skills like combat etc. Big ticket items and vacation spots.

If you look closely, you can drive on the sidewalk with a car. No need to break the barriers! But you'll risk to drag NPC's.

There are zero tollbooths you actually have to stop or even slow down for in S.FL, it’s all done by plate and Sunpass

In real life the venetian causeway is electronic tolling only. I used to support the equipment for that toll booth.

I haven't stopped to pay for a toll in a decade. Most people just use passes that they need to slow down to get scanned as they pass.

If they are going for realism then you wouldn’t have to stop at all. It’s electronic and they just charge you by your plate when you drive through.
