Walked 10,000 steps a day while having covid so not to break my 10K for 30 days streak!

maiuspala

My gf and I were in a mandatory hotel quarantine during covid. We weren't allowed to leave our room for 14 days. But we managed to do 10k steps every day

[deleted]

Wow that's insane hahah. 😂👍🏻

springboard-diver

That's incredible, I don't think I could have managed that indoors in my house let alone a hotel room. Well done to both of you!

kt1kk

That’s is positively insane (but I’m not gonna act like I wouldn’t do the same for keeping alive a steak long enough)

GicaContraBass

>We weren't allowed to leave our room for 14 days Ugh, sounds especially rough. How was it, besides the lack of sports?

solomonjsolomon

Lol Covid broke my ~50 day streak earlier this month and I am still salty.

Affectionate_Lab_493

Covid broke my 224 day streak last week. 😢

solomonjsolomon

❤️❤️❤️

springboard-diver

Ugh, that sucks. Hope you're feeling better now.

kt1kk

I think we need a separate thread where everyone can share the sad stories how their streak ended prematurely

springboard-diver

Damn. You'll get it back!

tb36cn

Did that too!

springboard-diver

Well done! I don't know about you but it was a struggle for me!

SnooCauliflowers3903

Indoors?

springboard-diver

No, it included outdoor walking. It was truly exhausting while the virus was raging!

pursuitoffruit

Took a pretty intense 14-km hike with a steep ascent, and felt like I was "pretty close" to the 50k steps badge. Proceeded to walk another 16km. My feet were dead afterwards.

Subject_Divide6421

So that’s how I can get those virtual climb badges… Don’t tell my friends.

Oakroscoe

Set the activity as floor climbing and go up some stairs or a hill near you. I’m trying to know out a couple of those on Monday.

metompkin

I live in a very flat area. I'm never going to get those climbing expedition badges!

[deleted]

There's this new badge you can get with 7 days of exercising between 4am and 7am. My alarm goes off at 3:30am every week day just to get in time for work but I don't wanna get up even earlier to work out. So i did breathing exercises right before breakfast and set my alarm during the weekend to fall back asleep after. 😂

Oakroscoe

Even a ten minute walk counts for the rise and grind badge.

[deleted]

I know but.I don't feel particularly safe as a women on her own outside at 5am. 🙈 The bus stop is luckily closer than s 10 minute walk haha.

Ssn81

Nice one! I need to meditate more so will definitely be using this

JeepersSleepers

Breathing exercise is a great tip. That or a quick walk or yoga/movement maybe. I will attempt to get this badge at least every other week now! Shift-work means every other week is out of the question with these early hours, sacrificing sleep is not an option, hah!

[deleted]

Unfortunately it doesn't work with the weather related badges though. Tried it when it once was 38 degrees Celsius but didn't get it. 😂 Thought it would be much easier than going out in that temperature lol. Hasn't been that temperature here ever since.... 🤓

Bleep_bloink

Did you do the breathing? I think you need a gps based activity for the toasty badge. The local weather data is collected based on your gps data to see if the temperature is according to the badges requirements.

[deleted]

Yes you need GPS indeed. That's what I figured out a little too late so I still don't have that heat badge haha. 😂 The cold badge is a lot easier here.

springboard-diver

Thanks, I was wondering whether breathwork would count towards that badge!

a_quiet_earthling

Wow! Lots of cool hidden badges

[deleted]

They added s bunch of new ones earlier in this year, that's how I figured it out! 😁

RuralGamerWoman

When I first started with walking, I was too uncomfortable with myself to walk outside, so I walked laps around my living room. Got many a Weekend 5k Walk badge that way. Even now, if the weather isn't conducive to being outside, I'll still walk laps in my living room.

spielplatz

In my house you can walk in a circle between the entryway, living room, dining room and kitchen. If I can't get out of the house I'll take a couple hundred loops around.

LacasCoffeeCup

I went for a walk at 11:30pm after a full day hike when I saw I only needed a few thousand steps to get the 50k Steps badge

mmyouri

Run in place inside the house to make the steps / running distance

ialtag-bheag

I've got a 430 day streak on Strava. Often means heading out for a walk / run / cycle just before midnight. Can be good fun anyway, might see badgers or other wildlife.

JA-868

I’ve walked and/or jogged at 11pm, even during rain and inside hotel hallways. I’ve gotten out of bed to do it. It’s happened many times. I no longer do the streak ones anymore because I already have them, but damn. That 60 day step challenge was rough.

metompkin

I just had to get that 100k step monthly badge on the last day and was about 8k short. Went to my garage to do it on the treadmill in my underwear and sneakers so I could also do laundry simultaneously.

jwhease

I wish I knew how to quit the [month] 15k badge for running

JA-868

Yup. Those are a must! At least they can be done whatever day in the month.

ChampionshipFront418

I get my stairs at work (courier)most days. But it takes forever on my basements steps. Some days it’s faster to go run up and down the closest hill. Every time I road trip I, up at 530 am to get most of my steps in before the drive.

pinkerlisa

Went on a 30 mile hike in one day to get the 60k step badge, only to discover that there aren’t badges after 55k

Kilpikonnaa

Averaged 16k steps a day for a whole month to beat my previous record.

dan5280

Ha, I was like "these people are crazy" until I read this one and I remembered doing laps around the block to hit 20k/day average when I realized I was close earlier this year.

Kilpikonnaa

I honestly love the challenges and the records so I can beat my past self. I check them regularly to see if I'm on track.

Business-Bathroom133

Love this thread. 120 consecutive 10k step days this summer, mindlessly ended the streak at 9992 one day because I miscalculated my expected pace at 11:50pm.

kt1kk

I’ll have a moment of silence in the memory of your streak

myfriendbaubau

Walked 30km in a day ,it wasn't for a badge but it was to win a steps challange between me and ine friend .

kt1kk

Oh those are very serious challenges though. Sometimes I go for a walk and don’t sync so that they don’t know that I’m actually leading.

myfriendbaubau

hahah, nice!

Jamar73

Ran a half marathon distance on Sunday morning. There was no marathon that day. My longest run up to that was 15km

CivilizedGuy123

Biked through two bouts of COVID to keep a biking streak alive. It ultimately ended around 1240 days, but not because of COVID.

kt1kk

Tell me at least indoors? Still just wow.

CivilizedGuy123

99.9% on a road bike outdoors. We did take a cruise so 10 days or so were in the gym onboard ship. But I was pedaling a steady 20 knots according to Garmin. And I got to bike in the Azores/Portugal.

tito_dodei

Yeah, I did. Many times. 🤭🤭🤭

OoSallyPauseThatGirl

I've been occasionally getting steps indoors by using the Infinity Hoop. To really get the weight going, I have to do a side to side hop motion.

kosmackaa

No.

kt1kk

I will assume that you meant it in the kindest way, though maybe before you suggest someone is an addict you could consider that people can also be just very enthusiastic without any actual harmful consequences.

SnooCauliflowers3903

I can't leave the house at 23:40 because of safety. :(

[deleted]

Seriously astonished as to the length y'all going for these imaginary badges that hold no real life value.

AccomplishedVacation

i don't know where to go to look at badges i prefer race results instead

AccomplishedVacation

Damn triggered the imaginary rewards folks lol

kt1kk

Badges are just personal fitness goals that people set to themselves and work towards it. It sounds like you like to set personal fitness goals in forms of race results and work towards them, which is really cool! I think people just did not appreciate that you implied that you don’t care about their goals, you only care about your goals. When we should just agree that it is generally just good to set goals that make you move and keep you motivated!

Supas23

For the 30 day run streak I probably had 4 days of me running inside right before midnight just so I wouldn't start over lol

Bleep_bloink

My Garmin is not a diving watch. But I do have a lot of dives completed and still adding to that number. So I manually put in all the data of my dives for the badges.

BalSteve

Not a badge but was invited to a 1 day steps challenge. Had a little over 20k steps during the day (soccer). Later that night, the competitor was nearly 10k steps ahead so at 9Pm, I went out for a 10K run and managed to beat him
